Chapter 14: Sentiment

Notes on this chapter

The reason why Sherlock in chapter 3 shows his real form at the age of 10, is because mer people look like humans until they age 10. When they become 10, they change into their real form. (Yeah it's like in the Disney film the 13th year xp… only that the guy changes into a merman when he turns 13 x3)

This is a little in between chapters to understand Mycroft.
Now… let's see it in Mycroft's point of view ^^.

Mycroft was fifteen when his parents returned from their holiday, with his new brother. From one day to another, he had a little brother.
Where did he come from? Where was his family? He wanted to know the answer, but when he asked his parents, they wouldn't really answer.
They said that Sherlock had lost his parents, that he would live with them until the day they found them. He began to love the little guy that always wanted to outsmart him. They played pirates, shared stories, books and deductions. His new little brother looked up to him, wanted to be like him.
When he became older, Sherlock annoyed him, the little brother that always wanted the attention.
That was better in deducing, wanted to outsmart him, and little by little Mycroft started to hate him. He had no time for little children, especially not Sherlock.

When Mycroft was twenty, Sherlock changed. The ten year old boy became closed and silent, people whispered that something had happened with the kid. It was the day that his mother had found Sherlock in the snow, people were saying that he had tried to run away, that his parents abused him. His parents would never do that, the only thing that changed was that his mother loved Sherlock even more. It would take him five more years to find out what was wrong with his brother, but it was too late for apologies. Sentiment is for the weak.
