Okay heres an update for all of you oh so patient, wonderful, human beings. Im so sorry for keeping you waiting but like I said before Ill be doing one chapter a week now. Also I don't know if it was confirmed yet but did you see that an insider leaked that Jesse and Sophia are dating in real life and have been for a few months now?! I guess that was the inspiration I needed to continue this story. I hope y'all enjoy.
"Erin," Voight said as he poked his head around the door frame of his office, "My office, now."
Erin was worried, she looked over to Halstead who had the same look as her. What if he somehow found out? What if hes telling me that Im getting transferred, or worse that Jays getting fired? A million things raced through her head as she walked to Voights office, none of them good.
"Yeah boss?" Erin said as she sat down in Voights chair.
"Erin don't act like you don't know what this is about.." Voight trailed off looking at Erin directly in the eyes.
"Im sorry, everything just happened so fast, he was there and-…" Erin was cut off from her ramblings about Jay by a very confused Voight.
"Erin, Im talking about Justins friend, the Joe Catallano kid." Voight said giving her a questioning glance.
"Oh yeah," Erin chuckled, "I forgot." Phew that was a close one Erin thought.
"Well no kidding you forgot because Justin just called me and warned me about a deal that Joe wants him to get involved with." Voight continued angrily.
I must have forgotten to keep checking up on that punk, Erin thought to herself. "Yeah that's my bad, Ive been distracted a little bit lately."
"Well I want you to go out to Catallanos place right now and make sure he knows were watching him." Voight said as he pointed to the door.
"Okay will do, sorry again." Erin said flatly, obviously feeling bad for almost getting Justin into more trouble.
"Take Halstead with you." Voight said quickly.
Erin popped back in the door, "Joe isn't scary, Ill be fine." And with that she began to get ready.
Jay was busy talking with Ruzek about some sporting event that happened this past weekend but in all honesty Jay wasn't paying that much attention to him because he was too busy wondering what Voight had to talk to Erin about. As soon as he saw Erin exit Voights office and head for the locker room he stood up trying to act non chalant, and followed after her.
"So..?" Jay asked as he stood next to erin while she grabbed something from her locker.
"It wasn't about us at all, it was about Justin." Erin added.
"Oh whats wrong?" Jay asked because he knew she was obviously upset about something.
"Hes just getting in with the wrong kind of people again, and Im part of the reason." Erin added looking at the ground.
"No you aren't!" Jay stated.
"Yeah well I gotta go try and make things right." Erin said as she put on her leather jacket.
"Hey come here." Halstead said as he grabbed her waist pulling her against the lockers.
Erin was a little a taken by by the gesture since they were at work but she needed to be held so she allowed it. Jay gave her lips a soft kiss with her leaned up against the lockers and Erin intertwined her fingers with his as she smiled into the kiss.
"Thank you, Jay, I needed that." Erin said as she pulled away.
"Im always up for it." Jay joked.
"Alright I better go." Erin said as she smirked up at him.
"Yeah okay, be safe." Jay said, not really sure of what else to say. They had slept together but that doesn't mean that she wants to be a couple. So he just left it simple.
"Yeah." Erin smiled coyly as she turned to leave the locker room. Man it was hot in there, she laughed to herself.
The drive to Catallanos apartment was about 15 minutes, he lived more towards the south side, which isn't surprising, Erin thought. As soon as she got out of her car she headed up to his door with her toughest face she could put on and hoped this would be short. She wasn't a coward but any girl, even if they were armed like herself, would feel uncomfortable alone with Catallano because hes a huge creep. Erin banged three times and stood there as stiff as a wall waiting for him to come to the door, then she heard footsteps approaching from the inside.
"Can I help you, Honey" A guy asked her as he held the door open a crack, just to fit his head through.
"Yeah, is Catallano here?" Erin asked sternly.
"Nah, my names Matt, but baby but I can help you." The guy said as he opened the door all the way and motioned for her to come inside.
"No I was just looking for Catallano, thanks." Erin said shortly as she turned around to go back to the car.
Before she could even take her first step down the stairs, she felt the Matt grab on to her hair and pull her back, Erin refused to scream out in pain even though its what every nerve fiber in her body was telling her to do. He ripped her back and spun her around so she was facing him again.
"Don't be rude now." He said as he ran his hand along her body.
Erin was disgusted and she had had enough of the nice innocent girl act so she pointed at her badge hoping he would back off. "You may want to take a step back."
"Shit!" Matt exclaimed as he punched Erin directly in her left eye and leaped off the porch making a run for it down the block.
Erin was left on Joes porch dazed and in pain. She drew her gun and turned around to see if she could spot which way Matt went but she couldn't. Her left eye was throbbing and getting more swollen more black and blue by the second so she headed back to the station since he wasn't the guy she had gone there for.
Thee ride back to the station seemed a lot longer than the ride out to Joes house, obviously this throbbing headache and black eye aren't helping Erin thought as she continued to drive. Finally reaching the station Erin let out a sigh as she closed the car door because she was going to get asked a lot of questions.
"Erin, oh honey, what happened?!" Platt asked her as soon as she reached the front entrance.
"Oh its nothing, just a bad bruise is all." Erin brushed her off and headed upstairs, trying to ignore the pain.
Punching in her code seemed to be a challenge because her head hurt so badly. And she wasn't looking forward to seeing her team like this.
"Jesus Lindsay!" Jay exclaimed as he looked over at her, being the first to notice her silent presence.
"Its fine, Im fine, don't worry" Erin said as everyone gathered around her asking if she was alright.
"Erin, what the hell happened?" Voight shouted as he walked out of his office.
Erin shuddered as she heard him yell, it wasn't helping her head and she already felt bad enough after letting the guy go. "I went to Joes and some guy named Matt was there, apparently he liked what he saw so I pointed out that I was a cop and he got scared so he punched me and ran off." Erin said all in one breath getting it off her chest for everyone to hear.
"What do you mean he liked what he saw?" Olinsky chimed in, asking a question that everyone else was no doubt thinking themselves.
"What did he do to you?" Voight said calming down and touching her shoulder.
"Nothing, he was just getting a little handsy." Erin said like it wasn't a big deal, which it wasn't because she is clearly okay, despite the black eye, things could be much worse.
Voight got angry again so fast, his temper could change just as fast as the Chicago weather. "Why didn't you have her back?!" He yelled at Halstead who just stood there and took it. "Shes your partner and you didn't do anything?" Voight questioned him.
Jay looked over at Erin with a confused look on his face and she sighed, "I didn't bring him with me." She finally admitted.
"Genius idea that was." Ruzek tried to joke but immediately got dirty looks from Jay and Erin.
"Im sorry that I went alone, Im sorry I didn't find Catallano, and Im sorry I let the Matt guy get away," Erin listed all of the mistakes she thought were her fault and plopped down in her desk, "Can we just get on with the day?"
"We can," Voight said as he motioned to the team "Youre going home and icing your face."
"Im fine, seriously guys don't worry." Erin tried smiling but it hurt too much.
"Im gonna be honest here, don't kill me, but you don't look fine." Atwater added
"Come on Ill drive you home." Halstead said as he stood up from his desk going over to Lindsay.
"Fine but at least let me take some files with me or cases so that I can distract myself." Erin pleaded.
"Okay but I don't want to see you back in here for two days," Voight added, "Feel better kid." He said as he touched her arm and went back into his office.
Erin gathered some folders up from her desk and grabbed her purse while putting her jacket back on and Halstead led her down the stairs. The 5 minute ride to Erins was awkward, it was just silent, and silence was never awkward for those two. Jay pulled up in front and parallel parked like a pro and started to take the keys out of the ignition.
"Oh, Jay you really don't need to come up." Erin said as she grabbed his hand keeping him in the car.
"I think I do," Jay said as he pointed to her eye, "I don't think youll be able to see what button to push in the elevator." He joked.
Erin laughed and playfully punched his arm. "Seriously, Ill be okay. But you should stop by after work and let me know what else happened to day."
"Are you sure?" Jay asked not knowing whether or not she was up for company.
"Of course, only if you bring Chinese." Erin smiled.
"You don't even like Chinese food." Jay joked as Erin started to gather her bags.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny." Erin laughed sarcastically as she fidgeted with her keys. "Here, just in case Im too busy to get to the door." Erin said as she handed Jay her apartment key.
Jay looked up at her, almost stunned, not knowing whether it was a joke or not. But before she could revoke the offer he grabbed the key from her shaking hand and put it around his key ring.
"Okay it's a date then." Erin said as she opened her door. "Or, well, I mean, its not a date I just-.."
She was cut off by Jay grabbing her hand, "It's a date." He confirmed feeling Erin relax under his touch.
"See ya later, Halstead." Erin joked as she closed his car door.
Jay waited until she got inside the building before he pulled away. Its only noon, Jay sighed as he looked at his watch while at a stop light, 6 more hours until I get to be with her again he thought as he drove back to the district.
