As James made his way down the corridor, his arms tightly gripping Shannon's weakening body close to his chest. He moved along a corridor that looked like it housed similar prisoners like Shannon's sister, all the doors open and empty a stray bullet suddenly pierced his shoulder making him loose his balance and drop his precious cargo on the ground, quickly he grabbed Shannon out of harms way as more Hydra agents approached shooting at them, a quick burst of power and they were knocked back the way they came.

"Are you OK?" James and Shannon asked simultaneously "Don't waste your powers." James scolded as he ripped a part of his shirt and used it to secure his wound "Through and through."

Shannon looked around helplessly, her powers were draining but she could hear the slight murmur of James scared thoughts even though he was hiding it well. Her body vibrated with pain, every wave of agony hitting her causing her to feel sick. James flexed his arm "That should hold." He thought as he caught Shannon looking at him, he made to pick her up once again.

"Wait." She moaned in pain making James jump back in fear that he had hurt her. "I can't go on any further." she whimpered the pain too much to bare.

"Look at me Shannon, end of the line remember." James stared in to her eyes, as she furiously shook her head, tears rolling down her cheeks, his own threatening to fall.

"This is the end of the line for me" She smiled a sad smile as he made to move out of her grasp, looking deep in to his tear filled eyes, her own falling freely "You need to go, to save yourself." James slowly shook his head as Shannon weakly planted the thought's in to his mind, he sat staring in to her eyes her power filling his mind, she held on to his face as he moved closer and brushed his lips against hers, his own tears now falling freely mixing with hers.

"I love you Shannon."

James stared in to her eyes for a moment, suddenly he stood racing forward shooting his guns at the agents that moved towards them, he didn't want his body to move but it was like he didn't have full control. Shannon watched as the tall, handsome love of her life disappeared from view "I love you James Buchanan Barnes." she whispered after him, the pain in her body was turning to a dull throb as she heard the steady approach of footsteps towards her, the sound of guns locked and focused on her.

"Sir its Whisper." An agents voice made Shannon focus on the figure standing above her, Knight stood relying heavily on two agents. Blood dripped from the wound on his leg caused by Shannon's power.

"I told you I always win. Did you think that this was going to end peacefully?" Knight spat the pain evident in his voice as Shannon stared up at him biding her time. "After I'm finished with you them I'm going after your Soldier and he'll never remember he knew you existed. What nothing to say?"

"Peace was never an option." Shannon spoke pushing every last fibre of power she had, all her love for James to save him from them to keep him safe. The open cell doors slammed shut as the raw power exploded within.

The cold crisp air hit James's face as he gained control of his movements, spinning round he heard the faint rumble of the fire moving towards him, the heat increased as he caught sight of the flames quickly growing from inside the building too quick for his brain to process. Suddenly something heavy barreled in to his side as he fell to the ground, Steve's voice echoing in his ears telling him to get down, the cold metal of his shield covering his body.

"She's gone." The words spat inside James's mind as the danger disappeared.

Steve stood as brushed the dirt of himself "The prisoners are gone, that Alice sure is something."

"She's gone."This time the words left James lips as he stayed sat on the ground tears falling freely as the meaning of the words seeped in.

"Shannon? No..." Steve sank back to his knees back to his friends level. He consumed his friend in to a hug, he could feel his body racking with sobs "We have to get out of here." Quietly they moved away from the smoking wreckage neither one of them noticing the emerald green eyes watching them.
