A/N Hey guy's I'm updating today to celebrate the birth of my newest niece. I think it's the perfect time to update as I started this book as something to focus on after my grandad past away. Wow tears stop it! Anyway thank you everyone and there's another little note at the end and a competition.
James gulped down another mouthful of whiskey, signalling the waitress for another, the bar hummed with activity as old tired men sat in the corner grumbling in to there pints at the news of the mysterious factory out of town that burned brightly on fire for a solid six hours, a group of younger men and woman joking around the pool table all trying out different trick shots. James held the new glass of whiskey as the older one was taken away, he watched the dark, brown liquid swished around the glass the colour sending a flash of brown eyes full of life to the front of his thoughts, he closed his own trying to stop the memories of her as he gulped more of the hot liquid down his burning throat. He couldn't stop himself thinking of the last memory of her using her powers to make him leave "This is the end of the line for me." Her words still brought tears to his eyes making him throw the rest of the drink down, again he signalled for the bartender.
"Well Stark hasn't heard of any rumblings." Steve spoke as he re entered the bar, he stuffed the cell phone in his pocket "Not sure if that's good or bad." He mumbled almost to himself.
"It doesn't matter." James mumbled as he shot back his fresh new drink.
"Buck there's over thirty people with powers we don't know what they can do, I think it matters."
"Not to me." James drank, already he eyed the blonde bartender readying to grab her attention, a niggling feeling in the bit of his stomach, he heard Steve's exasperated sigh .
"Buck."
"No Steve." James spoke cutting his oldest friend off, it had been four days and still it felt like mere hours "Shannon's gone and I don't know who I am without her." A lump rose in his throat, quickly he gulped down the rest of his drink.
"Your James Buchanan Barnes, the bravest man I know."
"I've been the Winter Soldier longer then Barnes." He played with the glass in his hands.
"I can't begin to understand what you have been through but the Avengers could use you and I need my best friend back."
"Steve I.."
"Excuse me" A female voice from behind the bar spoke catching both the men's attention, the petite young, blonde bartender stood looking at them, her emerald green eyes staring at them. Recognition hit James's intoxicated brain as he lunged forward with his metal arm grasping her by the throat.
"James." Steve grasped his friends shoulders, shocked at his actions as he tried to separate them.
"She's Hydra." James spat as his grasp tightened, she suddenly dropped photographs on the bar between them.
"I have information." She gasped as her face began to turn purple.
"About what." James spat again even though he loosened his grip.
"Whisper... she's alive." At this James let go of her, she gasped for breath for a second a red mark imprinted in to her skin.
"Where listening." Steve spoke, he moved his body in front of James even though the bar blocked him from this Hydra agent. "Talk" Steve spoke again, the girl looked around making him mirror her, he realized they were being watched by every single person in the bar. James continued to stare at her, his gaze never wavering,
"Not here." She spoke and motioned for them to follow, she left the bar and unlocked a door just a little away, James followed her in and Steve closed the door on the gaping faces behind them.
"Talk." James spoke in warning, he could feel his body begin to vibrate as his temper was starting to slip. The girl stared up at him, her eyes bright with fear.
"When you let me go I ran as fast as I could but I tripped and hurt my foot." She motioned to her foot and sure enough the slight tinged of purple could be found on the girls ankle "Then I saw you." The girls gaze turned to Steve "Helping the prisioner's escape and I knew I would be save with you."
"Save from what?" Steve spoke quietly and the girls emerald gaze flickered to James, she eyed his metal arm. He looked down at his feet as a wave of regret filled him.
"My Grandmother knew you.. knew you both actually. She would tell me stories about the brave men she fought with during the great war... her name was Peggy Carter. My name is Shay Carter and I was a Shield agent ... until Washington anyway." For a moment there was silence as Steve stared at Peggy's granddaughter, he could see the slight resemblance apart from the green eyes, her hair was more blonde then brown.
"I... hid in the security booth and I saw something," Shay picked up a file and handed it to Steve, he inspected the file and eyed James warily as he handed it over. James cautiously gazed at the two security camera photographs that filled the file, stood smiling at the camera, hazel eyes with small flecks of gold stared up, short brown hair matted slightly with sweat. It was her, the girl from the cell. Shannon's sister but even though he was shocked to see her in the Hydra building after she had been freed, it was the figure at her side, bloody and battered that made his knees go weak with relief. Shannon.
James blood ran cold, his mouth dry with relief, he quickly scanned the rest of the photograph, the time a few second's apart. "What...what does this mean?" James asked, his voice hoarse "She's alive... but how?"
"It's a miracle." Shay murmured back, they all stared stunned at one another, Shannon's sister's confusing words to him "It doesn't matter how dark it gets, start believing in miracle's." The colour drained from James's face "She knew , she knew what was going to happen." He practically shouted at Steve stabbing his finger at the photograph "What do we do?" He asked his voice lower as relief began to set in, he stared at Shannon's bloody image, she was deathly pale but alive.
"We need back up, we need help." Steve spoke to James, his oldest friend "We need the Avenger's."
A/N Well guy's that is it. The last chapter of Whisper and The Winter Soldier. The first story I have ever finished WOW.
Thank you everyone who has read, commented and voted I really do appreciate it!
What I love best about Marvel is the end of the credit's scene, I am always sat down in my chair refusing to shift till after that scene, normally in deep conversation about how awesome the film *ahem* CAWS *ahem* anyway that's why where all here reading these fanfics because we love Marvel.
Seen as this is my first ever fanfic and seen as I always over think this stuff I thought I would do my own end of credits scene and as I write I always listen to music so I even found some that I would play during Whisper & The Winter Soldier's credits if it was a movie (It is in my head) Thank you so much and I hope you enjoy.
