Howdy, y'all! I'm finally back, and it feels good to be writing again! In this chapter of Pokemon Unova Adventure, the mysterious Pokemon from last chapter will track Owen down, and Owen will be attacked by a sinister group of evildoers! I know I said that a new character would be introduced this chapter, but I couldn't make that work out, so I decided that this chapter would set up the introduction of the new character, and bring the beginning of Fate's first ever contest!

Owen groggily looked over at the clock laying next to his bed. It was 2:30, and the moon was glistening in the dark sky. He began to sit up straight and saw Snivy laying on the edge of the bed, Pidove standing on the TV, yet somehow sleeping, Blitzle sprawled out on the floor in between Owen's and CJ's beds, and Sawk was sitting in a meditation pose which he appeared to be asleep in.

Sighing, Owen got up and walked into the bathroom after grabbing some clothes to change in to. He put on his usual black vest that was zipped all the way up while popping the color, a grey t-shirt underneath it, and a pair of jeans along with grey and blue running shoes. He looked in the mirror and gave a tired smile. The fatigue was ever so present, but he didn't really care. It was just a little after midnight, who would be up at this time anyway?

As he walked out of the bathroom, the teenager was met by his four Pokemon which caused him to jump and let out a muffled scream of shock.

"Why are all you guys up? Do you know how late it is?" Owen asked in irony as if he was an overbearing mother.

"Sniv-Sniv-Vy," Snivy shot back while giving her trainer a look that said 'we could be asking you the same thing'. The Pokemon waited for a response, but didn't get one from Owen. He simply turned his back to them before waving a hand for the Pokemon to follow along. All four Pokemon followed their trainer down the hallway and out the Pokemon center. After walking two blocks, they saw a training complex and occupied a battlefield.

"Since we're all awake, why not get ready for our upcoming gym battle?" Owen asked the Pokemon. They all agreed with their trainer's idea, and they began to train.

About an hour or so passed, yet no one felt tired or in the mood to sleep. Owen looked around at the night sky and heard thousands of car horns beeping, people walking down the streets, and the stars in the sky were dimmed by all of the lights from several building being on.

"What the hell? Why isn't anyone sleeping?" he asked aloud. There was no response, but there were people watching him.

"See? That's the kid the commander was telling us about," one man whispered to the other. He looked down at the picture on his watch, and then through a pair of high powered binoculars that allowed him to see Owen's face. "One of the executives told us to put him away."

"Are you serious? He can't be any older than fifteen and he managed to beat the commander? I don't believe it," the other man shot back. "Are you sure he gave the right picture?"

"Why wouldn't he? This kid is at the top of our enemies list, so let's finish him before he realizes how much of a problem he is."

Meanwhile, the starving Pokemon from earlier that day scurried down the streets. He kept taking quick glances back towards the alley he had just darted out of, hoping he could continue at the pace he was moving at. His leg was bloody, and he still hadn't eaten. As he continued sprinting on all fours, a hostile barking sound filled the air. After taking another glance back, he saw two Herdier sprinting after him. With the thousands of people filling the streets of the city, the bloodied and starving Pokemon had difficulty in managing to get a clear path where he could move freely and at full speed.

"Herdier, don't hesitate to attack if you find it!" a man's voice commanded.

The brown, red, and yellow Pokemon's heart nearly stopped at the egregious command. However, the adrenaline pumping through the Pokemon's body kept him from stopping. He needed to find help from somebody soon.

Owen continued looking at the sky until he heard two men walking towards him. He turned to see two smug looking goons, both holding a Pokeball in their right hands. They were both wearing bright yellow uniforms, which looked very familiar. Owen decided to put away the thought, and his four Pokemon stood by his side.

"What are you doing up so late, kid? Didn't your parents tell you to not stay up past your bedtime?" the man to Owen's left asked tauntingly.

"What are two bums like you doing here at a training complex?" Owen shot back, causing both men to laugh. They then stuck out the Pokeballs they held as smirks grew on their faces, causing Owen to feel uneasy.

"Our boss ordered us to keep you from interfering with our plans, so that's what we plan on doing," the man on the right replied. "Go, Bisharp!" The Pokeball was thrown, and a strange bipedal Pokemon appeared. It had two silver blades for arms, and its black chest was covered by two silver blades that appeared to be ribs. It's legs and head were red, and two yellow blades sat on the top of the Pokemon's head.

"Go, Swoobat!" the man on the left shouted as he threw his Pokeball. A pig-like bat appeared in the air before screeching at Owen and his Pokemon. Its body was blue, while it had two large black wings.

Owen looked over at the four Pokemon on his side before looking back at his two enemies.

"Sawk and Pidove, let's go!" he ordered. The two Pokemon faced off with their opponents while Snivy and Blitzle stayed close to their trainer's side. "Sawk, use Brick Break on Bisharp! Pidove, use Quick Attack on Swoobat!"

"Keep up the chase, Herdier! We're going to get that food back!" the same harsh voice from before screamed. The starving Pokemon continued darting in and out of traffic in an attempt to shake his enemies off his tail. The chasers, however, were too determined to lose their target. The Pokemon then saw an alley and made a sharp right turn. As he continued down the narrow passage, the bleeding Pokemon made an abrupt stop because of a dead end. It was an apartment, so there was no way to dig under or hop over.

"There it is! Use Shadow Ball!" the man commanded as he and his Pokemon closed in. Both Herdier unleashed large, dark balls of energy towards the cornered Pokemon. The brown animal ducked under the attack and looked at the walls on both of his sides. They weren't even two feet apart, so he stuck his arms and legs out to the left and right. He then retracted his limbs when he jumped, but stuck them out when he reached his max height.

"What!? How could a Pokemon think of that?" the man spat in rage. The brown Pokemon continued scaling the walls with ease before hopping on to the roof of the apartment and disappearing from sight. After letting out a sigh of relief, the Pokemon looked over the city. It was beautiful at night, but living on the streets made the city much less attractive.

As the Pokemon sat down, he saw an explosion occur in the distance. He looked down at the street to see he was about forty feet off the ground, so he decided to let the explosion not bother him. Then, another explosion appeared, this time much larger and clearly more visible. The Pokemon looked at the wound on his leg to see that it was no longer bleeding, so he got up and began searching for a way to get down and investigate the odd sight. Once he found a pipe that he could climb down, the Pokemon hobbled towards it. As he bent to grab onto the pipe, a sudden thought occurred to the Pokemon. He quickly undid the collar around his neck and it fell off immediately. The Pokemon looked down at the collar in disgust before turning away to climb down the pipe.

Pidove was sent rolling back to Owen with bruises all over her body, while Sawk continued boxing with his opponent. The fighting type hadn't taken much damage, but he was showing signs of fatigue. Owen withdrew Pidove back to her Pokeball and sent Blitzle forwards. The electric zebra eyed the foe Swoobat nervously before hearing his trainer's encouraging words.

"Blitzle, don't worry about winning! Just do your best and let the battling come to you!"

The electric type took a deep breath before charging towards the psychic and flying type while a trail of white light flew off of his body. Blitzle knocked Swoobat back into its trainer, but the flying type took back to the air with little effort.

"Swoobat, use Psywave!" the man on the left demanded. His Pokemon let out an annoying screech before firing a blue wave of energy towards Blitzle.

"Blitzle, use Shock Wave to counter! Sawk, use Blaze Kick to finish off Bisharp!" Owen yelled. Blitzle's body began to flash yellow before shooting a powerful electric current at the Psywave attack. As the two moves collided, Shock Wave prevailed and zapped the foe Swoobat. The psychic and flying pig fell to the ground, causing its trainer to stomp on the ground angrily.

Then, Sawk sprinted towards Bisharp. As he jumped in the air, his right foot caught on fire. Sawk swung his right leg as hard as he could at the steel and dark type, but the thug trainer ordered a counter attack expertly.

"Bisharp, block Blaze Kick and then use Slash on Sawk's leg!" the man on the right countered. As Sawk sung his foot, the foe Bisharp stuck its left arm up to block the super effective attack. After succeeding Bisharp took its right arm and stabbed Sawk in the leg, causing the fighting type to let out a cry of pain that echoed through the empty battlefield complex.

"Bisharp, finish this with Hyper Beam." As the steel and dark type dropped Sawk on the ground, it unleashed a powerful Hyper Beam. As soon as the orange beam of energy hit Sawk, another explosion filled the air. The blue fighting Pokemon was thrown back to Owen, so the teen withdrew his downed Pokemon. The fifteen year old then looked over at Blitzle, who appeared to be exhausted from using up all of the electricity in his body.

Before either of the men could attack Blitzle, Owen withdrew him back to his Pokeball.

"Is that all you've got kid?" the man on the right quizzed while laughing. His partner joined in on the laughter, causing Snivy to growl angrily. This caught the attention of the two men and their Pokemon, so they all prepared to do battle with Snivy.

"Snivy, don't do this. I don't have anyone to help you out," Owen whispered to the grass snake. The grass type starter didn't listen, and began walking towards the two Pokemon.

"Bisharp, use Dark Pulse!"

"Swoobat, use Air Cutter!"

As the two attacks closed in on Snivy, the grass type jumped up and somehow managed to dodge them. After landing Snivy ran towards the enemies, prompting Owen to give her a command.

"Snivy, use Vine Whip on Swoobat!" Snivy jumped into the air after hearing her command, and shot two vines out of her neck before slapping Swoobat. The attack didn't appear to do much damage, but it shocked Swoobat so greatly that it was unable to move.

"Bisharp, use Slash!"

Owen gasped. He had completely forgotten about Bisharp being so close to Swoobat. The steel and dark type charged towards Snivy and prepared to stab the grass type that was falling back towards the ground, but as the blade made its way towards Snivy the grass type was grabbed by a familiar Pokemon that rolled away from the attack.

The Pokemon that had just saved Snivy walked over to Owen and handed him his starting Pokemon with a kind smile, causing Owen to smile back.

"Hold on a second… you're the Pokemon that saved Snivy when I first got here!" Owen exclaimed in sudden realization. The Pokemon nodded back in response before turning to face the two Pokemon. Even though Owen couldn't see, he sensed the wild Pokemon's expression change from one of happiness to that of rage.

The two men and their Pokemon were petrified by the look they had received, but refused to retreat.

"HEEEEE!" The Pokemon that had saved Snivy reared back before unleashing a gigantic wave of fire at the four enemies. The flames were so large that they engulfed the two Pokemon and almost charred the two men. This caused the two Pokemon to faint instantly, and the men looked at the Pokemon in horror. They then withdrew their fainted Pokemon before running off at the speed of light.

"Holy crap," Owen muttered before looking down at the Pokemon that had a smile on its face. The Pokemon in front of him turned back around to face Owen, oblivious to his incredible power.

"Snivy!" Snivy exclaimed thankfully as she hopped out of Owen's arms and hugged the brown Pokemon. Owen then pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the wild ally that had just saved Snivy for the second time.

"Heatmor, the Anteater Pokemon. Heatmor primarily consume Durant by using their fire type attacks which can burn through nearly anything. Heatmor tend to be rather timid of trainers, so they are very rare."

Owen eyed the picture of Heatmor, and then looked back at the one that was playing with Snivy. It was supposed to be 127.9 lbs, but this one was lucky to be 85. There were also several gashes and bruises covering its body, including a laceration on his leg.

"Thanks for saving Snivy again, Heatmor," Owen told the fire type, trying to act as if the Heatmor before him was healthy. Heatmor nodded back cheerfully before his stomach growled loudly, causing the fire type to grip his stomach in pain. "Why don't you come back to the Pokemon Center with us so you can get some food?" Owen asked, knowing that the Pokemon was on the verge of starvation.

"Mor!" Heatmor replied excitedly while walking by Owen's side.

After getting Heatmor some food, Owen sat at a table right next to a window in the dining hall. Heatmor and the rest of the Pokemon seemed to be getting along really well, Owen noticed as he was looking through his text conversations on his PokeGear. He stared blankly at Janine's contact, remembering everything they had been through.

She was the first girl that had ever liked him, even though she did try to kill him. But she only took that job to keep someone else from killing him. The dark feeling he had felt during the six months he spent alone began to creep into his heart. Even though he didn't realize it, Owen managed to suppress the feeling of depression.

Heatmor noticed Owen blankly staring at his PokeGear, so he decided to check on the teenager. He stood up on his legs and tugged at Owen's vest to attract his attention. The boy turned, and Heatmor was taken back by the look in his eyes. He swore he could've seen that look before, but he didn't know where he saw it. "What's the matter, Heatmor? Do you have to go back home?" Owen asked while looking down at the Pokemon.

The fire type flinched at the word home before shaking his head sadly.

"Well if you don't have anywhere to go, why don't you join me?" Owen asked, causing Heatmor to look up happily. "I think everyone would be happy if you decided to come with us," Owen told the fire type.

Heatmor turned to see Snivy, Pidove, and Blitzle smiling at him while Sawk bowed. Heatmor turned back to face Owen and nodded his head violently, causing Owen to laugh.

As Owen took an empty Pokeball off of his Pokebelt, he began speaking to Heatmor. "I know we'll make a great team!"

Again, Heatmor flinched. Suddenly, he was beginning to have a flashback.

"Hey, don't worry." The yellow haired boy looked down with a bright smile on his face while extending a hand. "We'll make a great team!"

"Heatmor, are you okay?" Owen asked the Pokemon. Heatmor snapped out of his flashback and nodded with a forced smile. Owen beamed at the fire type's decision and took a Pokeball off his Pokebelt. "Welcome to the team, buddy."

As Heatmor was sucked into the Pokeball, those five terrifying words rang in his head.

"We'll make a great team!"

So Owen just got his fire type for Unova, and Heatmor will be a key cog in Owen's team. Next chapter will be the appeal round of Fate's very first contest, but will she be upstaged by Owen or one of her rivals? Also, a new character will be introduced at some point during the contest, so get ready for that. Lastly, Owen will not be challenging Burgh right after the contest. Instead, he'll be competing in a tournament where an unexpected shakeup will take place! Till next time, peace out.
