Chapter 7 Gifts and Prep

When I materialized from the teleporter I took some time to get accustomed to my surroundings. There were lots of cheering grunts in their uniforms complete with the blue hair. Why they ever thought that was a good idea is beyond me. Well maybe they just wanted to make the police not take them a seriously and get away with a few things. Anyway there was a man giving a nice speech about how he was gonna recreate a perfect world and all that. I wasn't really carrying since I finally spotted Cole and went over to talk to him. He was talking to yet another boy who was even younger than us. As I got closer to him, he waved at me and said "Dude what took you so long the speech is already halve way over. Too busy hugging it out with your team?" He said the second part with a mocking tone that I wasn't too fond of but I let it slide.

"technically he is right you know"

"Thanks for the update Lilly, Anything else to report that isn't obvious or just going to ruin the moment I just had?"

"actually yes, See that grunt hiding in the back? The one hiding in the back and is way too small to ever by hired by this place. I honestly wonder how nobody noticed him. I suspect they are mistaking him for either you or Cole."

"Really? What is he doing here?"

"Give me a minute, geez reading minds takes a bit you know... Oh this is the child we saw running after the grunt when the bomb went off. Alright apparently he is here with an undercover cop called... Looker... and they are here to... Release the legendary pixies and find out what the organization is planing."

"What!? We cant just let him free the pixies we came here to catch them?"

"Calm down there is no way he can do that they are too well defended and his pass will never let him teleport to those areas of the building. So what do you want to do about him. Should we let the other grunts know?"

Hmm this was a lot to take in. The kid has apparently been chasing Galactic goons for a while and must have a good team judging by the fact that he hadn't been caught. That means he is probably capable of screwing things up pretty bad here. I hate to do it but I gotta help the rockets. Everything needs to go well at least till we do our part and get the legendaries... But I also don't want them to succeed either...

"Alright Lilly this is what we will do. I want you to tell him that we know who he is and the other rockets are starting to catch on. Tell him a short version of what will happen on mount moon and tell him to bring backup. Also tell him that he needs to leave now or he will be caught and to take looker with him."

"Ohh. Nice. Pit both sides against each other. I like it. Alright I will be a second holler if you need me."

I knew when Lilly started talking to the guy because he flinched and almost jumped out of his skin, Which is what I did when Cole suddenly spoke up, "Well that speech sucked. Anyone who isn't already brainwashed would see that he is only after things for himself and will ditch everyone when he gets it. Anyway, lets go get briefed by Saturn. Word is he got us some extra special presents for our journey."

He went over to the teleporter and swiped his card before motioning for me to go first. I walked up to it and after a short blindness was in one of the training rooms I took a step off the teleporter and Cole appeared behind me.

"Why here in the training room?"

"Well you do have to give the items to your Pokemon for them to work. So let out your team."

"How do you know I have to give them to my Pokemon?"

"He got them three days ago." Lilly interrupted

"I got them three days ago." Cole said shortly afterwords

Just then four people appeared on the teleporter, Saturn, a grunt carrying a cart, and two women one with red hair in a short but unusual style, she had a metal skirt... thing that almost gave her spacesuit the look of a dress, almost. The other had purple hair that was relatively long but it had two pony tails making her have a big bulb of hair sticking strait up and another one sticking strait down. They looked at us before the red haired one walked forward and actually hugged us, while saying, "Ah so these are the lovely little children you have gotten to do your dirty work. They look so cute standing there all nervous." the only thing making me nervous was her hugging me...

The other one had a much different opinion. "Why are we here again?"

Saturn spoke up in response to her, "We are here so that I can give these items to Jerry here." Since I will be stuck here watching the base while you two and master Cyrus are out doing who knows what."

The Purple one commented, "Aww does the little baby want to come to, are you going to cry?"

The red one returned, "Shut it Jupiter. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything, so just don't ever say anything."

Jupiter wasn't quite done yet and pressed, "Aren't you the sour one, Why don't you just go jump off a bridge and do the whole group a favor?"

Saturn Stepped in, "Jupiter that's enough, Mars just ignore her, We don't need a repeat of that last time." They both momentarily turned pale. Then turned away from each other and crossed their arms. Saturn continued. "If you would let out your Pokemon we can begin."

I threw out all my Pokemon and told Lilly to materialize before asking her, "What was this big thing that happened?"

"Nothing important just they eventually got to sick of each other and threw a fight with rented Pokemon that pretty much destroyed their first base. Since then, They aren't aloud anywhere near trained Pokemon and aren't really allowed to train their own."

"Alright guys its time to get geared up, This nice man here has selected a bunch of items that will help us to defend the mountain."

I was greeted with some responses, Amphy, "Woo. Yes. Gear. Dibs on the duel daggers."

Burst, "Oh god put me in the water,"

Kingy, "I always wanted a suit of armor, I bet I would look so Nice in metal."

Apollo, "Psh I don't need Items to destroy everything,"

Loki, "Ohhh got anything that can make me invisible, or better yet, A Rose for this Lovely thing," He said pointing at Espeon's pokeball.

Lilly, "Seriously. You should put Burst in the water"

I quickly realized my mistake and recalled burst before putting him in the water. He swam a bit before calming down, "Well I could always use another Plushy," He says pulling the Spheal out of nowhere and making it squeak, "Maybe a Charmeleon plushy," He says glaring at Apollo.

Apollo, "It was one time get over it."

Burst, "How bout you get in my mouth and then tell me to get over it."

Saturn who was completely oblivious to all of this pulled out the first item from the cart. It was an... Apple.

"Really just an apple? I thought this was serious?" My surprise was a little hard to cover up

Saturn more than a little amused at my apparent lack of knowledge, "This Item has been dubbed the leftovers." He said as he took a bite. And then showed to everyone the apple regrowing the missing piece. "It has been possessed by the spirit of a poor dead Pokemon that didn't quite turn into a Shuppet. So it provides way more nutrients than an apple should. Apparently even matching the needs of the Pokemon that consumed it. But It constantly regenerates so that it sits inside of the Pokemon's stomach and fuels them indefinitely. As long as it is inside of the Pokemon they will not need any other food source and have way more energy to keep going than others. But if left in for too long the Pokemon will become sluggish and eventually just fat. So I recommend that you 'Remove' it as soon as the battle is over." He walked over to burst and tossed the item up into the air. I was about to say that burst only eats meat but he jumped out of the water and swallowed it whole.

He went back to the cart and picked up the second item. It was a glass sphere with a swirling cloud of black smoke in it. "This is called the smoke ball. It is basically a reusable smoke bomb with the added effect of a short range teleport. I figured that your Gardevoir could use it in interesting ways with her ability to turn invisible." He said as he tossed the item to her and it stopped a few inches away from her and floated up to hover a little above her shoulder.

The third item he pulled out was a Pair of sunglasses, except they had yellow tinted glass. " this is called the choice specs. It makes the wearer extremely focused and only able to use four attacks, but those attacks are much more powerful than they normally are." He threw them at Apollo and after he looked at them for a bit shrugged and put them on. Then leaned against Kingy crossed his arms and bobbed his head a bit.

"Yea. I can get used to this." Everyone in the room smiled a bit.

The fourth item was a small claw on a string. "This item has been named the quick claw." He said as he tossed it to Amphy. "Its a wondrous prototype machine from Devon corp that slowly builds up energy and releases it in pulses. Nobody knows what affects the generation rate for the item. And it seems completely random but when it does the holder will be able to move at a tremendous speed for a few seconds. We believe that time travel is involved in some way.

"Aww I wanted daggers. He said with a pout."

Saturn blinked at this before cautiously saying. "You don't seem too happy about this one."

"He wanted a pair of daggers apparently."

Saturn tilted his head a little bit at the odd request "But Ampharos don't have fingers to hold one with"

Amphy stoped and looked down at his fin. "No I can curl it like this, or maybe like this." he bent and twisted it but nothing looked very convincing.

Mars came up and patted Amphy on the head, "Aww ain't you just the cutest thing. Ill tell you what. If you succeed on this little mission I will give you a pair of Skarmory feathers sound good."

"Awesome" he shouted and jumped off to go practice swinging like he was carrying a knife.

Saturn continued. "Alright... um OK. Fifth on the list is this," He said as he pulled out a small yellow helmet with rocks imbedded in it. "This is, Ironically enough called the rocky helmet. I know its lame but it is surprisingly effective as a weapon and I decided it would do a lot of good for keeping your Umbreon from using its paws in the upcoming fight."

Loki was a bit less than pleased to have the helmet on. But didn't really say anything. More of muttered death threats under his breath about being forced to wear the stupid hat

"And last," Hew said as he pulled the item out and walked towards Kingy. Before any of us could see what it was clearly he stabbed a needle into Kingy and injected him with some unknown liquid. "Is Called the berserk gene. It is an serum that activates when it come into contact with adrenalin and dramatically increases ones attack. Of course it also is degraded by adrenalin so it is only works once. This item is amazing as it is the only item that boosts attack effectively at the beginning of a fight instead of the end like the stat enhancing berries that are circling the market. Sadly its not as popular because trainers are too scared to inject things into their Pokemon but I assure you it comes with no side effects whatsoever."

I still didn't really like him putting random chemicals into Kingy but what can I do. It was already in his bloodstream. "Lilly is their anything else I should know about the berserk gene?"

"I don't think so. I can't pick anything up from them. Mars and Jupiter are too busy bickering and Saturn is just singing money over and over again in his head. Money money money money moooooney... moooney Like that."

"Alright, now that that is done." Saturn said. "We can do a short briefing. Cynthia has somehow figured out that we plan to go to mount Coronet's spear pillar for this to work. She will no doubt bring her strongest Pokemon and may even be able to take on us and the boss. I have no doubt that she will destroy you two but you must stall her as long as you can so the boss can do whatever it Is he has planed on the spear pillar. Once you are defeated come back here to return the items and receive your... payment. Well that is if Cynthia doesn't decide to kill you. So get some sleep and be up at five thirty in the meeting room so we can fly you over there."

with that he turned to Mars and Jupiter and waved to them to come with him. They all stepped on the teleporter with the grunt and were gone.

Cole shrugged at me before swiping the card and allowing me to step on the teleporter. I recalled my Pokemon and we both disappeared into a room with two beds and a bit of other sparse furniture. There was a couch and television and a desk with some paper. They even had a dog house in one corner and a bar close to the ceiling. No doubt for the Zoobats that just about every grunt has. Cole tried to start a conversation with me but I touched a bad and just about blacked out immediately. Apparently weeks of sleep aren't enough for me.
