Salutations, readers. This chapter will be the second battle between Owen and Akito, which will take place on the Driftveil Bridge! Last chapter, Owen and Brooklyn had a double battle against the two women from the Castelia sewers while they tried stealing fossils from the Driftveil gym. Owen, however, was severely wounded in the process and is now in the hospital. Now, let's get this chapter started!

Owen slowly opened his eyes and looked around the room he was in. There were several complicated medical machines operating, a few empty seats around the bed he was laying in, and there was a bundle of balloons in the corner by a window. The injured teen tried getting up, but felt a sharp pain his stomach that forced him to lay down. After fluffing his pillows, Owen looked down at his stomach and saw three scars that were shaped like circles.

"What the-" Owen was cut off by Snivy jumping up from the ground and hugging him tightly. "Hey, Snivy. Where am I?" The grass snake face palmed at the idiotic question before pointing at the medical equipment. "The hospital? That makes sense," Owen said to himself while looking back at the heart monitor. "Where's everyone else?"

"Snivy," the starter Pokemon replied before hopping off the bed and running out of the room. After a few seconds Snivy came running back into the room with Owen's five other Pokemon. All of the Pokemon looked happy to see their trainer, except Heatmor and Krokorok. The fire type looked around at the room nervously before scampering over to Owen's heart monitor. The anteater looked relieved to see that Owen's heart was still working, but he ran out of the room. Krokorok watched Heatmor bolt down the hall before falling to the ground and laughing, which didn't sit well with the others.

"How are all you guys?" Owen asked while looking around at his Pokemon. Snivy, Prinplup, and Tranquill hugged him in response while Muk gave his usual smile. "Do any of you know why I'm in the hospital?"

"Owen!" Before any of his Pokemon could respond, Fate, CJ, and Rebecca ran into the room and embraced him. "Are you feeling okay? Is anything bothering you?" Fate inquired.

"Why am I here!?" Owen shouted before grabbing his stomach in pain. "What happened?" The three worried trainers sat down in the four empty chairs before CJ decided to speak up.

"Apparently you were stabbed by a Combusken. Brooklyn told us you pushed her out of the way," CJ replied quietly. Owen looked at Fate and Rebecca, who both nodded at the answer. "You almost died," CJ added. Leaf, who jumped onto CJ's lap, gave Owen a worried look along with Hez, Angel, Deerling, and the Pokemon that were sitting on his bed.

"Wow," Owen said to himself in shock. "Is Brooklyn okay?" he asked.

"She's fine. She actually stayed here all night, but she left for Mistralton City this morning," Rebecca informed Owen. The boy nodded before pushing himself out of his bed, fighting through the sharp pain in his stomach.

"What do you think you're doing?" Fate interrogated while getting out of her chair.

"My battle with Akito is today," Owen told the girl while he put his shirt and vest on. He then began to walk out of the room with a noticeable limp, which allowed Fate to catch up to him.

"No way. The nurse said you had to be in here for at least a week. You've only been here for a day and a half!" Fate shouted. Owen waved off her comments and continued limping down the hallway while his Pokemon followed after him.

"What should we do?" Rebecca asked while looking back at Fate and CJ.

"If there's one thing I know about Owen, he's too stubborn to listen to us. He's going to the Driftveil Bridge whether we want him to or not," CJ said while leaning back in his chair. "We should probably go catch up with him and make sure he doesn't drop dead on his way there." The two girls whipped their heads around and glared at CJ after what he said. The fifteen year old sweat dropped before getting up from his seat and walking out of the room.

"Don't worry, Heatmor. Chris is going to be okay," a man told Heatmor while patting him on the back. "He's lucky you brought him to the hospital." Heatmor looked up at the man and saw the tears in his eyes. The fire type then looked through the glass window and saw the yellow haired boy laying on a bed. A surgeon and several nurses were operating on the young boy, and they were moving around frantically.

"Don't blame yourself, Heatmor. There's nothing you could have done about it. Just trust the doctors," a woman said to Heatmor while hugging him. He saw that she was crying along with her husband while they watched the surgeons continue the operation. Suddenly, a high-pitched frequency echoed through the glass and burrowed into Heatmor's ears. The two adults standing next to him tensed up immediately and they moved closer to the glass.

Heatmor watched as the surgeon began to look at the nurses with desperation in his eyes, which was terrifying. Looking to the surgeon's right, Heatmor saw a monitor displaying a straight line, and he noticed that it was hooked up to the young boy's chest. Heatmor's heart dropped when he realized what was happening, and he bolted out of the room.

"Heatmor! Where are you going? Come back!" the two adults cried as they watched the guilty Pokemon exit the hospital. It was the last time they ever saw him.

Owen walked out of the hospital and saw Heatmor sitting outside with his back turned to the building. Feeling concerned about the fire type, Owen walked over to Heatmor and sat down next to him.

"Are you okay, buddy?" Owen asked the anteater. Heatmor turned but didn't say anything. He just stared at Owen, and the trainer saw the petrified look in his Pokemon's eyes. "I'm sorry if I scared you, Heatmor," Owen said before wrapping his arm around the powerful Pokemon. Heatmor began crying before burying his head into Owen's chest while the other Pokemon made their way over to their teammate.

Noticing that the others were watching, Heatmor pulled away from Owen and looked down at the ground in embarrassment. Krokorok continued laughing at Heatmor while the others walked over to him and patted him on the back. Heatmor looked up and nodded at his teammates thankfully before walking after Owen and the other trainers.

"Are you okay?" Tranquill asked kindly. "You look pretty freaked out."

"It's nothing," Heatmor answered shortly before sniffling. "Don't worry about me." Tranquill nodded and took off to the sky before flying ahead of the group. Prinplup and Muk exchanged concerned glances before respecting Heatmor's wishes and walking away from him.

"You know you're not a good liar," Snivy said to the taller Pokemon. "If something's bothering you, you can tell me," the grass type said with a concerned tone. Heatmor turned and cracked a fake smile before looking straight ahead.

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. For now, I just need to focus on this battle," Heatmor told Snivy while wiping tears away. Snivy looked up at the red Pokemon and sighed at his stubbornness.

"It's not just going to go away if you don't talk about it. Trust me." Heatmor looked back down at the leader of the group and shook his head angrily. Before he could say anything to Snivy, Krokorok slapped him on the back.

"How's it going, you big baby? Hahaha!" Krokorok cackled while holding his stomach. Heatmor glared at the ground and dark type, but didn't say anything. If he just ignored Krokorok, maybe he'd go away. "Heatmor, do you cry when you lose battles, too? Or is it only when you sit outside by yourself? Hahaha!" Snivy looked over at Heatmor and saw the rage building up in his body.

"Krokorok, seriously, stop." Krokorok turned and looked down at Snivy while wiping a tear out of his eye before gaining his composure.

"No way. Hey, Heatmor, I heard you cried-" Heatmor stopped walking and grabbed Krokorok by the neck, cutting off his joke. The sand crocodile began to swing his legs as Heatmor lifted him off the ground while tightening his grip.

"If you say one more thing, I'll make sure you never speak again," the fire type whispered. Krokorok immediately shut his mouth and Heatmor dropped him on the ground. The ground and dark type then ran away from Heatmor and Snivy in fear of being killed. "I really hate that guy," Heatmor mumbled under his breath.

After arriving at the bridge, Owen looked around at his six Pokemon and tried deciding who to use.

"So, who wants to battle?" Both Snivy and Tranquill volunteered, so Owen picked them. "Heatmor, how about you?" Owen asked. The fire type looked up at Owen blankly before shaking his head. "Alrighty… how about you…" Owen was going to ask Muk, but he saw the stare down that Krokorok and Heatmor were having, so he decided against it. "Prinplup!"

"Prin!" Prinplup responded while running up to Owen. He, Snivy, and Tranquill all gave each other fist/wing/flipper bumps before Owen withdrew everyone back to their Pokeballs except Snivy.

"Owen! I'm surprised you beat me here," Akito shouted as he appeared through a cloud of fog. "I've been looking forward to this for a while now. How does a three versus three battle sound?"

"Sounds good to me," Owen answered excitedly.

"I'll be the ref," CJ announced before stepping in-between the two trainers. "This will be a three versus three battle between Owen and Akito! Neither trainer can substitute his Pokemon! Furthermore, once all Pokemon on one side are unable to battle, the battle is over! Trainers, choose your Pokemon!"

"Tranquill, I choose you!" Owen shouted. Tranquill appeared from the Pokeball Owen threw in the air, and she squawked when she saw Akito standing twenty feet away.

"Skorupi, go!" Akito cried as he flicked the Pokeball out of his hand. A tiny purple scorpion appeared in front of Akito and it snapped its pincers while staring at Tranquill.

"This battle will be between Tranquill and Skorupi! Begin!"

"Tranquill, use Gust!" Owen ordered. Tranquill began flapping her wings as fast as she could, which created a whipping wind. Skorupi's body began to have cut marks appear because of the flying type attack, and he immediately hissed at Tranquill. The flying type ignored her opponent's angry remark, and she continued flying overhead.

"Skorupi, use Venoshock!" Skorupi opened his mouth and suddenly released a purple beam of poison. Tranquill's left wing was clipped by the attack, and she began fall towards the ground. After overcompensating with her right wing, Tranquill managed to remain in the air, but it was clearly taking a lot of effort.

"Tranquill, use Air Cutter!" Tranquill began to form a ball of wind in front of her chest before she threw it at Skorupi. The poison and dark type watched as the ball turned into a large 'V' shaped blade of wind, but Akito wouldn't allow the attack to strike his Pokemon.

"Dodge and hit Tranquill with Poison Jab!" he commanded. Skorupi moved away from the Air Cutter attack before his tail began to glow purple. The tiny scorpion then made his way across the makeshift battlefield before jumping in the air and hitting Tranquill in the chest. The normal and flying type was sent spiraling into the ground before getting up weakly and glaring at Skorupi.

"Tranquill, use a spinning Quick Attack!" Owen demanded. Tranquill launched herself forward before spinning and tucking her wings into her sides. A trail of white light turned into a double helix and surrounded Tranquill before she crashed into Skorupi. The poison and dark type was sent skidding back to Akito, but it looked like he was at max health.

"Hang in there, Skorupi! Use Pin Missile!" Skorupi formed a ball of white light in his mouth before shooting it straight in the air. Once it exploded, several white arrows crashed down towards Tranquill, who was unable to escape the attack. The Unova bird fell to the ground after being pummeled, but she got back up and flew in the air.

"Tranquill, swoop in and use Gust!"

"Jump on Tranquill and use Venoshock!" As Tranquill was closing in on Skorupi, the latter of the two leaped forward and latched onto Tranquill, who began to fly around uncontrollably.

"Shake Skorupi off and then use Quick Attack!" Owen shouted in desperation. Tranquill attempted to shake off the tiny insect, but was unable to do so. Skorupi kept a tight grip on Tranquill's back, giving Akito the perfect opportunity to finish the battle.

"Wrap it up with Poison Jab!" Skorupi's tail began to glow purple, and he struck Tranquill viciously. The pigeon immediately crashed to the ground and her eyes were shut, signaling she was on longer able to battle.

"Tranquill is unable to battle! Owen, choose your next Pokemon!"

"Thanks, Tranquill. You tried your best. Prinplup, come on out!" After tossing his second Pokeball in the air, Prinplup appeared in front of Owen and readied himself for battle. Skorupi hissed at his second opponent, and Prinplup immediately squawked right back.

"This battle will be between Prinplup and Skorupi! Begin!"

"Skorupi, use Poison Jab!" Akito ordered aggressively. Skorupi scurried over to Prinplup while his tail was glowing purple, but Owen and his Pokemon were able to counter the attack with ease.

"Dodge it and then use Bubblebeam!" Prinplup hopped away from Skorupi's tiny tail with little effort before he unleashed a series of bubbles. The velocity behind the water type attack caused Skorupi to fly back in pain while Prinplup chased after his opponent. After Skorupi got back up, Prinplup used another Bubblebeam that pelted Skorupi.

"Pop Bubblebeam by using Pin Missile!" Akito countered. Skorupi immediately shot the Pin Missile attack and it went straight through the powerful water type attack. Prinplup was then struck by the dozens of white arrows and he began stumbling back while gripping his chest in pain.

"Don't let up, Prinplup! Use Metal Claw!" Owen instructed. Prinplup immediately grew three metallic claws out of both his flippers before he ran towards Skorupi and began to slash the smaller Pokemon angrily. Skorupi and Akito instantly fought back, however, forcing Owen to rethink his strategy.

"Skorupi, use Poison Jab!" Skorupi's tiny tail began to strike Prinplup repeatedly while he fought through the Metal Claw attacks, but neither Pokemon looked ready to give up. Their trainers, however, thought otherwise.

"Prinplup, back off and grab Skorupi's tail!" Owen yelled. Just as Skorupi went to jab Prinplup, the water penguin stepped back and grabbed the scorpion's tail, leaving Skorupi defenseless. "Now throw him in the air!" Skorupi was hurled into the air by Prinplup, who waited for his next attack.

"Skorupi, use Venoshock to blind Prinplup!" Everyone watched as Skorupi released a steady stream of toxins towards Prinplup, but the evolved Pokemon dodged the attack gracefully before springing into the air.

"Peck!" Prinplup's beak began to glow white and extended a few inches before he jabbed Skorupi violently. The two Pokemon then fell to the ground with one landing on his feet and the other on his back.

"Skorupi is unable to battle! Akito, choose your next Pokemon!"

"Great job, Skorupi. Gabite, go!" Akito yelled. Owen watched as a Gabite appeared in front of Akito. A confident grin spread across Owen's face because he was familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of Gabite. After all, he did have one throughout his time in Sinnoh.

"This battle will be between Prinplup and Gabite! Begin!"

"Prinplup, use Whirlpool to disorient Gabite!" Prinplup formed an enormous spinning body of water before hurling it at his dragon type foe. Gabite simply remained stationary with a calm look on her face while waiting for Akito to give her a counter attack. Once the Whirlpool was within feet of striking, Akito finally issued a command for his Gabite.

"Shoot through it with Dragon Rage and then use Take Down!" Gabite fired a large orange ball of energy with flames out of her mouth. The two attacks collided, but Dragon Rage prevailed and it struck Prinplup. Then, Gabite dashed towards the water type and checked him several feet. Prinplup began to roll across the wooden surface, but popped back up and began to run towards Gabite, who winced after taking recoil damage.

"Hurry and strike back with Metal Claw!" Prinplup lunged forward and slashed Gabite with his bright silver claws, and Gabite skidded across the bridge. Both Pokemon and trainers locked eyes for a split second before Akito shouted another command.

"Don't back down, Gabite! Use Dragon Rage again!" Gabite jumped in the air before releasing another large ball of energy towards Prinplup. Because of the way the attack was angled, it exploded right in front of Prinplup, which resulted in the water type flying straight into the air while smoke covered the ground.

"Prinplup, use Bubblebeam to cushion your fall, and then use Peck!" Prinplup rotated his body so that his head was facing the ground, and he fired a steady stream of bubbles, which beta to pop when they hit the wooden planks on the bridge, Because air was released from each bubble that popped, Prinplup managed to land on the ground softly before he charged towards Gabite with his glowing white beak.

"Gabite, Dragon Claw!" Akito shouted after Gabite was hit by the Peck attack. Gabite swung her glowing red claw at Prinplup, and the water type was struck by the powerful attack. Despite inflicting massive damage, Prinplup grabbed a hold of Gabite's arm. "Get Prinplup off by using Dragon Claw with your other arm!"

"Stay strong, Prinplup! Use Bide!" Owen screamed. Prinplup was immediately coated in a white light just before he was struck by the Dragon Claw attack, and a red ring of energy spiraled around his body.

"Gabite, dodge it with Dig!" Gabite burrowed a hole through the bridge just as Prinplup fired a powerful beam of sparkling white energy, which caused Owen to curse under his breath.

"Shoot. Prinplup, use Bubblebeam in the hole Gabite dug!" Owen commanded after seeing the hole. Prinplup looked straight into the hole and prepared to unleash the Bubblebeam attack, but Akito countered too quickly.

"Now, Gabite!" Gabite flew out of the same hole she had dug and uppercut Prinplup in the process. The blue penguin was thrown back to Owen, and his eyes were shut tight while his body remained motionless.

"Prinplup!" Owen cried as he ran over to the fainted Pokemon.

"Prinplup is unable to battle! Owen, choose your last Pokemon!"

"You were amazing out there, Prinplup. Snivy, it's all up to you!" Owen exclaimed after zapping Prinplup back into his Pokeball. Snivy ran forwards and stared at her foe, who began to laugh at the grass snake. Snivy narrowed her eyes angrily before releasing the two vines from her neck, but Gabite still didn't seem to take the grass type seriously.

"This battle will be between Snivy and Gabite! Begin!"

"Gabite, get in close and use Dragon Claw!" Akito yelled. As Gabite darted towards Snivy, Owen laughed to himself before snapping his fingers. As Gabite swung at Snivy, the smaller of the two Pokemon jumped back and wrapped her vines around Gabite's arms, causing the dragon and ground type to flail angrily.

"Hold on tight, Snivy! Use Leaf Blade!" Owen demanded. Snivy pulled her vines forward while her tail began to glow green, and she performed a front flip. Everyone watched in awe as Snivy slammed her tail over Gabite's head, smacking the powerful Sinnoh Pokemon against the ground harshly.

"Now's our chance! Use Take Down!" Gabite shot up from the ground and slammed into Snivy, who used her vines to stop her skid. Gabite, meanwhile, winced at the recoil damage of the powerful normal type attack before locking eyes with Snivy.

"Don't hold back, Snivy! Use Leaf Tornado!" A vortex of leaves circulated around Snivy's tail, causing Gabite and Akito to watch the grass type in horror. Snivy then aimed her tail at Gabite and trapped the larger Pokemon inside the grass type attack. The leaves began to cut Gabite's body and then Snivy slammed the attack against the ground. Gabite was shot out of the attack and bounced against the ground repeatedly before finally stopping in front of Akito, who looked at his injured Pokemon worriedly.

"Gabite, use Dragon Rage and keep a distance from Snivy!"

"That's not gonna work!" Owen shouted while punching his right arm forward. "Snivy, use Vine Whip to help you jump over Dragon Rage!" The two vines from Snivy's neck appeared and slammed against the ground, which launched the Unova starter over the Dragon Rage and through the air. "Now spin and use Leaf Blade!" Snivy began to spin like a wheel while her tail was glowing green, and she eventually slammed the attack over Gabite's head.

"Gabite, use Dragon Claw quickly!" Akito ordered. Gabite swung at Snivy with her glowing red claws, but Owen and Snivy were too quick to react, so the attack didn't hit.

"Vine Whip!" Snivy wrapped her vines around Gabite's arms for the second time, causing Akito and his Pokemon to gasp.

"Shake free, Gabite!"

"Leaf Blade!" Snivy performed a front flip before slamming her glowing green tail against Gabite's head. This time, the dragon and ground type was knocked unconscious by the attack, and Akito ran his hand through his long hair. Snivy ran back to Owen proudly, but she turned around after remembering she still had one more opponent.

"Gabite is unable to battle! Akito, choose your next Pokemon!"

"Sorry, Gabite. That battle was all my fault. Grotle, You're all that's left!" As Akito's final Pokeball opened, his Grotle was revealed in a flash of white light. The grass type starter recognized Owen and Snivy immediately and remembered their first battle in Accumula Town.

"This battle will be between Snivy and Grotle! Begin!"

"Grotle, use Energy Ball!" Grotle quickly generated and fired a large green sphere towards Snivy. Looking back at Owen, Snivy received a reassuring look from her trainer, which calmed her nerves instantly.

"Send it back with Leaf Tornado!" Snivy's tail was covered by a towering vortex of leaves and wind, which she pointed at the incoming Energy Ball. The green sphere was rifled back at Grotle, and it exploded on impact. The lethargic starter stumbled back before shaking his head and glaring at Snivy, who had a confident look on her face after the successful counter.

"Run at Snivy and use Bite!" Despite Grotle's enormous frame, the armored turtle's speed was second to none. In the blink of an eye, Grotle reached Snivy and bit her head as hard as he could, causing the smaller grass type to cry out in pain while punching her foe in the face.

"Snivy, use Vine Whip to pry Grotle's mouth open!" Acting quickly, Snivy did as she was told and wrapped her vines around the top of Grotle's mouth and his jaw. Mustering up all her strength, Snivy managed to open Grotle's mouth just wide enough for her head to escape, which made Owen breathe a sigh of relief. "Now use Leaf Blade!" Snivy jumped back and swung her tail up against Grotle's chin, which knocked the turtle back ten feet.

"Grotle, shake it off and use Razor Leaf!" Grotle recovered from the attack immediately before firing a series of sharp leaves towards Snivy.

"Slice it up with Vine Whip and keep using it on Grotle!" Owen countered. Snivy began to fling her vines at the incoming leaves, which were chopped up before they could reach the grass snake. Snivy then continued to smack Grotle with her vines, which led to Grotle letting out an angered roar.

"Use Bite on Snivy's vines and throw her against the ground!" Akito commanded. As Snivy's vines were just about to whip his body, Grotle's head snapped up and he chomped down. Snivy's eyes shot open in shock before she was being swung around in a circle. After making her dizzy, Grotle threw his head towards the ground, and Snivy slammed into the wooden planks that acted as the ground.

"Hang in there, Snivy! Use Leaf Tornado to push Grotle away!" Owen told his Pokemon after watching her struggle to get up. Snivy quickly pointed her tail at Grotle after a powerful wind and hundreds of leaves appeared, and Grotle was pelted by the razor sharp leaves while also being pushed by the whipping wind.

"Grotle, use Energy Ball!" Akito ordered after the Leaf Tornado subsided. Grotle shot the green sphere at Snivy, and it hit her directly. The attack exploded on contact and sent Snivy rolling back to Owen, who looked down at his battered Pokemon with remorse.

"This is it, Snivy! Use Leaf Blade and give it everything you've got!" Owen roared after turning his attention back to the battle at hand. Snivy began to run towards Grotle, and her tail began to glow a vibrant green.

"You do the same with Take Down, Grotle!" Akito screamed. Grotle trudged over to Snivy while a trail of white light appeared behind his body. Snivy hopped in the air and began to spin like a wheel before falling towards Grotle, who lunged at his tiny opponent. BOOM! Both Pokemon were sent flying back to their trainers as a cloud of smoke appeared in the middle of the bridge. Everyone waited anxiously to see the condition of the battling Pokemon while the smoke slowly flew off the bridge. After the minute wait, CJ looked at both Pokemon before throwing both of his hands up.

"Both Pokemon are unable to battle! This battle is a draw!"

"That was a great job, Snivy. You should be proud of how well you battled," Owen told his Unova starter. Snivy smiled at her trainer's kind words before nodding. Owen then walked over to Akito and his Grotle with a smile on his face. "That was an awesome battle, you two. You guys got a lot stronger since last time," Owen complimented.

"So did you and your Pokemon. That battle had my heart racing the entire time," Akito said before laughing. "Hopefully we battle again so we can see who improved more," Akito told Owen while extending a hand.

"I can't wait for that," Owen replied while shaking Akito's hand. "Now I just have to win my badge here, and I'll be one step closer to entering the Unova League!"

"Good luck. The gym leader, Clay, is really strong and smart. You're going to have be fast on your feet if you want to beat him," Akito told Owen after withdrawing his Grotle. "I'll see you around, Owen." With that, Akito walked back towards Driftveil City by himself.

"That was an incredible battle!" Rebecca exclaimed while running up to Owen and Snivy.

"Thanks. Snivy was a beast out there. Isn't that right, girl?" Owen asked the grass type. Snivy pumped her fist emphatically with a bright smile on her face, making Owen and Rebecca laugh.

"So what are you doing now?" Fate asked.

"Tomorrow, we're taking on the Driftveil gym!"

There you have it! Owen and Akito tied in their second battle, and Snivy played a huge role for Owen, which is going to be happening a bit more often. So, Owen will be taking on Clay next chapter in what I think will be a ferocious battle. I'll probably put that up in the next couple of hours, so be on the lookout for an update! Till next time, peace out.
