Chapter 54

Malik was barely awake by the time Marik and Mariku got back to their chamber. He was exhausted and knowing what Yugi was going through helped make him mentally exhausted. Malik barely felt himself being placed on the middle of the bed. He knew he was in the middle because they both liked to have him in between them, making him squashed sardine. Malik felt the bed dip on one side and a body wrapped around his making him snuggle into the warmth, but he didn't feel the bed dip again.

Struggling Malik opened his eyes and didn't see anyone in front of him and when he looked behind he saw Marik there with his eyes closed. Malik looked around and saw the top of a body curled up by the fire. Malik saw the light reflect off the scales making them look different in colour.

"Mariku?" Malik called out.

Mariku's head lifted from where it was resting to look back over at the bed. Marik leaned up on his elbow and looked down at Malik who was just watching Mariku.

"He needs to be like that for a little while Malik. He has used too much magic recently. More than we would normally use. It's been a long time since we have needed to use this much."

"You have to stay over there?"

"Yeah by the fire is warm and will help."

"Well can we come over to you?"

"You need to stay in bed Malik. You're still not well. I'll join you when I'm better."

"But you're by yourself."

"It's alright. Next time if you're not sick than you can. But for now just stay in bed."

Malik looked a little conflicted, he felt bad that he couldn't sleep with them. Marik smiled and tightened his arm around Malik. He could understand why he wanted to be with Mariku since he was had to sleep without him as well. He'd had to do it may times here and when he left to get food.

"Mariku will join us when he's feeling better. It shouldn't take as long as normal so he'll join us when he is ready. I'll keep you company till then." Marik said.

Malik looked at Marik and smiled before looking back at Mariku who was still watching them. Mariku uncoiled himself and slithered over to them and nudged Malik gently till he was laying down. Marik nodded at him before pulling the covers back over his and Malik's body.

"I'll lay here till your asleep ok?"

"Ok."

Malik slowly closed his eyes, feeling the exhaustion overwhelm him and finally he could fall asleep. Marik felt Malik's breathing even out showing he had fallen asleep. Mariku watched for a few seconds before nudging Marik to make him to lay down and go to sleep. Marik smiled and kissed his cheek as he turned to leave making Mariku stop and look back at him. Marik smirked making Mariku's eyes narrow slightly at him knowing he was teasing him.

Mariku went back over to the fire and curled his body up on the floor. Mariku was situated so he was looking towards the entrance to the chamber and at this position he could see the bed. Mariku saw Malik roll over and curl into Marik's arms. Mariku smiled as Marik's arms tightened around Malik before he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Yugi yawned when he opened his eyes the next morning, well he suspected it was morning since he couldn't tell if it was morning or not. Yugi wondered how they could ever tell if it was morning or not without leaving the chamber.

Yugi stretched out slightly and noticed a body was missing. Yugi looked around and saw Yami sleeping next to him on the bed and Atemu was the one missing. Looking around the chamber Yugi saw Atemu curled up by the fire in his snake form. Yugi frowned and Yami rolled over in his sleep releasing Yugi from his hold. Yugi shuffled quietly towards the edge of the bed and climbed to his feet.

Yugi quietly walked around to the other side of the bed and over towards the entrance to the chamber. Yugi jumped feeling something wrapped around his waist and hold him quite firmly. Yugi looked down to see a thick tail before looking behind him to see Atemu glaring at him. Yugi glared back at him in return, he didn't understand why he was in trouble.

"Where do you think you are going?"

Yugi pointed to the table that was near the entrance to the chamber which was where he was heading to. On the table was an animal skin full of water and some wooden cups. Atemu blinked and his glare let up and he unwrapped his tail from around Yugi's waist. Yugi waited two seconds before continuing over to the table and grabbing a glass of water.

"You still don't trust him, do you?" Yami suddenly spoke from the bed in the naga language making it impossible for Yugi to know what they were saying.

"Kind of hard when they have escaped before."

"He has let you make sure his grandfather think he's dead. There is nothing for them to go back to. Try trusting him." Yami said as he slithered off the bed in his snake form and over to Atemu.

"It's not that easy Yami."

"Yes it is."

Yugi seeing as they were obviously wanting to have a private conversation moved back to the bed and laid down. He would have left the chamber if he could but he thought against it seeing what happened just before. He didn't want to change them getting angry at him for trying to give them privacy.

"You are stubborn Atemu." Yami said, Yugi being able to understand this.

Yami moved back over to the bed next to Yugi to check on him. He knew that what Atemu had done might have upset him so he thought to check on him.

"You alright Yugi?"

"Yes."

"Atemu doesn't mean anything by it."

"I know." Yugi said not knowing what to say as he knew there was a reason Atemu did it and he knew what that reason was.

"Well since Atemu is going to be grouchy this morning, let's go get some breakfast." Yami said.

Yugi took the offered hand that Yami held out to him and climbed to his feet. He looked over at Atemu who was glaring lightly at Yami who just smiled lightly at him in return.

"You can join us Atemu, if you're not going to be grouchy."

Atemu changed back to his normal form and pinned Yami to the wall with a smirk. Yugi yelped and stumbled back onto the bed and looked up at them worried. Atemu was smirking as he held Yami to the wall who in turn wrapped his tail firmly around Atemu's waist.

"No maybe I wouldn't be grouchy if you slept with me."

"You didn't ask. Besides you know why I didn't. You would have told me not to anyway."

"True."

"So how about you let me go and we go get breakfast?"

"Hmm… Alright."

Atemu let go of Yami and turned away as soon as his tail let go of him and looked to Yugi.
