Chapter 25
When word got out that Dorothy Ann Fields was finally dating Carlos Ramon, Carlos got tearful pleads to reconsider, DA got death stares, and Wanda got $100 richer for winning a bet, but there wasn't much time to think about it, as Drug X was needed for the semi finals the next day. "Okay, you guys," Tim began, "in this round, they're going to select one band from each school. It's going to be way harder then the beginning..." Tim began. "Don't worry!" Ralphie began, "we can do it!" Tim smiled. "Ok. Remember, the prize is $5000 each, and you guys will record one album." The three nodded at Tim. "Okay, see you tomorrow night." That night, the three of them were practicing as hard as ever, and when the semi finals began, they felt as ready as they would ever be. "Good luck you guys." Keesha began, kissing Ralphie. The remaining friends gave Drug-X a hug and waved as Drug-X waited in the wings. They would be performing second. "Second the best." Carlos joked, squeezing DA's hand. The first band that came on did a cover of Black Sheep by Metric. It was very good, and Carlos almost threw up out of fear, but Ralphie and DA snapped him out of it. "we'll do fine." DA reassured her boyfriend. Carlos smiled back at her, and Drug-X was summoned onstage. The cheers were as loud as before, but sloghtly forced. Nodding to Ralphie, Ralphie counted them in with a drum beat. After a bit, DA and Carlos chimed in with their own instruments, then the lyrics began
Hey, hey, hey ,hey
Ohhh...
Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me
Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognise me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ohhhh...
Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security
Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby
Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away
Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on - call my name
Will you call my name?
I say:
La la la...
Once they finished, the cheering began, but it was as loud as when DA first performed. Feeling sick to their stomachs, Drug-X left as band 3 came on with a cover of dark horse. Band 4 sung Pretty in Pink, band 5, Galamorous, sung Unlove you. Carlos couldn't help but notice Janet was staring at Judd the whole time she was singing. Finally, Malachite was last. Judd went on, smirked at Janet and DA, then broke into a cover of I Don't Wanna Be. Once the band went offstage, the principal came onstage. "I'm sorry to say, but there has been an account of lip syncing." The remaining six bands gasped and looked around. "That being said, AkaSaso are disqualified and the Walker high finalists are Drug-X. Carlos, Ralphie and DA slapped each other five as the principal cleared his throat. "The other two winners are Galamorous and Malachite." Once the names were mentioned, and the celebrating began, DA was pulled aside by someone. Turning, she saw Judd staring at her with a look that could burn a hole through sheet metal. "Listen, Dory!" He snapped. "It's Dorothy Ann." She hissed. "Whatever, I don't know how you managed to get to the semi finals, but this isn't over. Once the finals are over, and Malachite is in the lead, you and Drug-Y will just be a trio of has-beens. Don't forget that." DA rolled her eyes. "Listen, Judd. Now that we are broken up, I realized something. I had tunnel hearing. And the other girls too. You really don't have any talent." With that, she turned around and walked away.
