Chapter 27

The next day, Janet told Arnold she was pregnant, his friends witnessed history in the making as Arnold crushed the rock he was holding, flung the pieces out the window and ran out. "That scumbag!" Arnold screamed. "Janet! What are you going to do?" Arnold asked. Janet covered her stomach. "I... I don't know! I'm seventeen! I'm too young to have a baby!" Arnold paused. "That is true, Jan, but at the same time, you were old enough to conceive one." Janet lowered her head. "There are three options." Carlos cut in. Janet turned. "Three options?" Janet said. Carlos nodded. "Ok, first option is, you have the baby, and you keep it." Janet nodded, then Carlos continued. "However... You may have to kiss your life goodbye. Judd has already made it clear he doesn't want to be a dad, so you may not want to do that one. Second option, you have the baby, but put it up for adoption. There is also the third option..." Janet's eyes widened. "You mean..." "No way!" Arnold interrupted. "I am sorry Janet, but I have heard too many women lose years of their lives if they abort their babies, plus if it goes wrong..." "Not to mention the price!" DA added. "Carlos! Do you have ANY idea how much money..." Carlos went quiet. "Forget I said anything." He muttered, his cheeks glowing pink. "Wait..." DA gasped, piecing things together. "Oh my gosh!" She gasped. "Did you..." "Later." Carlos mouthed. DA's eyes narrowed, but she nodded. Tim and Phoebe were already comforting Janet, and Wanda was looking up Judd's address in the phone book, weapons at the ready while Keesha and Ralphie were trying to talk her out of murdering Judd. "I don't think I want to have it!" Even if I give it away, I'll just get a reputation as a slut! I don't want that!" "You're going to have an abortion?" Phoebe asked, rubbing Janet's back soothingly. Janet shrugged. "If I do, though. I'll risk Arnold hating me forever. I wish I never even met Judd!" "Arnold would never hate you!" Tim replied. "He loves you. He may be angry, but he's not the pregnant one. He doesn't get a say in it." Arnold turned. "Listen, Janet. I do love you, but I don't want you to do something you'll regret." "I'm going to have a regret no matter what!" Janet replied. Arnold sighed. "Fine!" He hissed. "You make up your mind, and until the decision is made, I won't tell our family." Janet smiled. "Thanks guys. This really means a lot to me." She replied. The eight of them surrounded her in a group hug. Once it was finished, and a few bits of planning were made, everyone was headed home. While going home, DA had something heavy on her mind. Turning to Carlos, who was sitting shotgun, she took a deep breath and pulled over. "Something wrong?" Carlos asked. "Did you impregnate someone before we started dating?" She asked. Carlos fidgeted. "Tell the truth." She sternly said. Carlos looked up and nodded. "It was last year." "Which girl?" DA asked, fists trembling on the steering wheel. "Does it really matter?" Carlos asked, "you already know I'm not a virgin. "Uh, yeah! Kinda does." DA replied. "Look, when we started dating, we agreed we wouldn't keep any secrets from each other. This is a pretty big one." Carlos exhaled. "Fine... It was Dahlia Horton." DA turned in horror. "Dahlia Horton! She was the guitar player in Carlos' Girls!" Carlos nodded. "We had a brief fling. It was agreed we would be friends with benefits, and there would be no strings attached. One day, she came to me after school and told me she was pregnant." "And?" DA asked, tears filling her eyes while she tried to blink them back. "I panicked." Carlos admitted. "I didn't want to be a deadbeat dad, so I offered to marry her. She flat out refused, telling me that she was going to abort our kid, so I forked over the cash, she went through with it, and we ended our... Game right then and there." DA at this point was crying. "DA..." Carlos began, reaching over, but DA pulled back. "Why didn't you tell me?" She asked. Carlos turned to the window. "I have standards. I was cool with bragging about which hot chick I was banging, but I couldn't tell you guys I got her pregnant, it would hurt both of us. Besides, Dahlia and I are long over." DA frowned. "Look, DA. I'm with you. I chose you. And not because I think you're a hot lay, but because, like I told Judd. I really love you." DA turned. The sincerity in his eyes was heartbreaking. Moving over, she let him hug her as she quietly cried on his shoulder. The two of them remained like that for a while until DA realized she had to get them to their houses. Driving Carlos to his house, she parked in his drive way. "I love you." He said. "I love you too." She replied. Carlos got out, and, to her surprise, Evan came running out of the house and got into DA's car. DA raised an eyebrow, but didn't question anything. When Carlos got inside, Mikey had him listen to a new mix song he and Evan created. This one started off with a gentle piano rift, that was nice and calm, until finally, Evan's voice flooded through the speakers:

Leave me out with the waste

This is not what I do

It's the wrong kind of place

To be thinking of you

It's the wrong time

For somebody new

It's a small crime

And I've got no excuse

Is that alright?

Give my gun away when it's loaded

Is that alright?

If u don't shoot it how am I supposed to hold it

Is that alright?

Give my gun away when it's loaded

Is that alright

With you?

Afterwards, Mikey's voice joined in.

Leave me out with the waste

This is not what I do

It's the wrong kind of place

To be cheating on you

It's the wrong time

She's pulling me through

It's a small crime

And I've got no excuse

Is that alright?

I give my gun away when it's loaded

Is that alright?

If you dont shoot it, how am I supposed to hold it

Is that alright?

I give my gun away when it's loaded

Is that alright

Is that alright with you?

As the two of them sang, their voice formed a perfect blend.

Is that alright?

I give my gun away when it's loaded

Is that alright?

If you don't shoot it, how am I supposed to hold it

Is that alright?

If I give my gun away when it's loaded

Is that alright

Is that alright with you?

Is that alright?

Is that alright?

Is that alright with you?

Is that alright?

Is that alright?

Is that alright with you?

No...

Once they finished, Carlos turned to Mikey. "Is something wrong with you and Evan?" Mikey shook his head. "No. I think I'm in love with her though." "Whatever you do," Carlos began, "don't sleep with her, you'll both regret it in the end." With that, he turned and headed to his room.
