Hey there! This chapter will feature Owen battling a rival of his, and some stuff after! Last chapter, Owen and everyone else finally learned about Heatmor's backstory, and Owen learned that Snivy isn't able to evolve. Now with his time in Unova winding down, what else will happen to Owen and the rest of the gang? Let's find out!

"Why is this gym still here if it's not opening up for another year?" Owen asked while looking up in the air. After arriving in the snow covered Icirrus City, Owen made his way to the gym, only to have his hopes crushed by a measly sign out front. "Great, now we have to go to Opelucid City!" Owen screamed in anger while he and the others walked back into the Pokemon Center.
"That's not too bad. There has to be another gym, otherwise no one would qualify for the Unova League," Rebecca told the older boy. Fate and CJ nodded while looking at Owen, and they made their way to the back of the Pokemon Center, which had a glass roof and wall because of the constant snow.
"At least it's warm back here. I don't know how anyone lives in this city," Fate said while taking off her snow jacket and sitting down in a chair at an unoccupied table. CJ, Rebecca, and Owen followed Fate to the table and did the same thing before a familiar voice echoed across the training grounds.
"Hey, everybody!" Dante appeared and walked over to the table while he was taking off his jacket and gloves. "I tried catching up with you guys in Twist Mountain, but I got stuck in there for a whole fricking day," the older boy told the four other teens. "So, Owen, you wanna battle?"
"Well, there's no gym here, so sure!" With that, Owen shot up from his chair and walked towards the trainer box furthest away from his table while Dante took a few steps and arrived in his. CJ decided that he'd be the ref for the battle, and he walked over to the referee pedestal.
"This will be a three versus three battle between Owen and Dante! Neither trainer may substitute his Pokemon! Now, choose your first Pokemon!"
"Krokorok, let's go!" Owen shouted while throwing his first Pokeball onto the battlefield. Krokorok appeared with his arms across his chest, and he had his typical annoyed look on his face.
"Blade, you're going first!" Dante yelled. After the Pokeball he threw opened, a Gallade appeared and stood in front of Dante. It looked exactly like Owen's Gallade from Sinnoh, and it took a very similar battle stance. Krokorok scoffed at the fully evolved Pokemon's stance, and he let his arms hang by his sides while snapping his jaws at the air.
"This battle will be between Krokorok and Gallade! Begin!"
"Blade, use Leaf Blade!" Dante commanded. Blade's arms began to glow bright green and he darted over to Krokorok. The ground and dark type smirked at the order and his opponent, who had the impression that he'd be able to land the grass type attack. Sensing his Pokemon's confidence, Owen grinned and punched the air in front of himself.
"Krokorok, counter with Bulldoze!" Owen yelled. Krokorok waited for Blade to swing his arms forward, and he ducked. Much to his surprise, Blade kneed him in the chin, causing Krokorok to fly into the air. Krokorok eventually crashed against the ground with a loud thud, but he got back up with a fire burning in his eyes.
"Keep it up, Blade! Use Leaf Blade again!" Dante shouted. Blade jumped into the air while his arms turned light green again, and he swung at Krokorok as he fell. Without hesitation, Owen issued a second command.
"Dodge!" Krokorok smirked as Blade's arms shot forward, and his claws began to glow light blue. Krokorok jumped back and slapped Bade's arms away with his tail before he ran towards the Gallade and slashed him across the chest violently. After he stopped rolling across the battlefield Blade got back on his feet and he was surprised to see Krokorok running towards him while his claws were still glowing blue.
"Use Close Combat to stop Krokorok!" Blade waited for Krokorok to swing at him before countering with a flurry of punches and kicks. Krokorok noticed Blade's vulnerable limbs, and he began to slash the psychic and fighting type's arms and legs that were thrown at him, causing the Gallade to cry in pain before being punched in the gut. The taller Pokemon bent over in pain, but continued to stand despite the punch.
"Krokorok really is strong," Rebecca noted after watching the rebellious Pokemon beat Blade down. "It's too bad he doesn't listen to Owen."
"Blade, use Night Slash!" Blade's arms turned dark purple and he prepared to attack Krokorok, but the look in the sand crocodile's eyes kept him from doing so. Owen and Dante looked at Blade in confusion because they didn't see Krokorok's intimidating glare, but Snivy was able to tell why Blade didn't attack.
"Kroka!" Krokorok cried before slashing Blade across the chest with a wicked Dragon Claw. Blade dropped to the ground with his eyes shut, signaling in the end of the battle.
"Blade is unable to battle! Dante, choose your next Pokemon!" CJ decreed while looking at the fainted Pokemon in front of Dante.
"Thanks, Blade. That was an awesome job. Rue, I need your help!" Dante shouted after withdrawing Blade. The second Pokeball opened and revealed a strange eel. It had two small flippers for feet and long blue arms. It's underbelly was a light cream color while the top half of its body was a dark blue. It also had a large circular mouth that had hundreds of razor sharp teeth.
"Eelektross, the EleFish Pokemon. They crawl out of the ocean using their arms. They will attack prey on shore and immediately drag it into the ocean." Owen looked up from his Pokedex to see Rue looking at Krokorok shyly until Dante whispered to her. The electric type nodded at her trainer's words and instantly took on a different, fiercer personality.
"This battle will be between Krokorok and Rue! Begin!"
"Krokorok, use Bulldoze!" Owen demanded. Krokorok obeyed and he slammed his foot against the ground. A wave of energy flew across the battlefield and it struck Rue, but it didn't do any damage. After realizing Rue had the ability Levitate, Owen cursed under his breath because he wasn't able to use Krokorok's lone attack that was super effective.
"Rue, use Flamethrower!" Rue unleashed a wave of red flames, which engulfed Krokorok. Dante pumped his fist excitedly, but he stopped celebrating when he saw Krokorok sprint out of the fire.
"Use Bite!" Owen told Krokorok. The ground type refused to listen, and his claws began to glow light blue. He then jumped and prepared to slash his sluggish opponent, but Dante refused to let his Pokemon get hurt.
"Use Acrobatics to dodge and then strike!" In the blink of an eye, Rue gracefully jumped in the air while doing a front flip, and then she attempted to whack Krokorok in the back with her large tail. Before she could hit him, Krokorok turned and bit Rue's tail, causing everyone to gasp in shock.
"Krokorok, throw Rue in the air!" Owen ordered. Krokorok began to spin around, causing Rue to be lifted into the air while also being spun around at a high velocity. Owen waited for Krokorok to listen to his command, but he hung his head when Krokorok slammed Rue against the ground, causing her to cry in pain.
"Rue, use Flamethrower!"
"Krok!" Krokorok roared while being charred by the pointblank attack. Rue got back on her feet, but Krokorok quickly retaliated with a powerful Dragon Claw, which knocked Rue onto her back. Krokorok then jumped into the air while his claws were glowing light blue, and he threw his arms forward to finish the battle.
"Use Acrobatics to counter!" Dante shouted to his second Pokemon of the battle. Rue whipped her tail in the air and hit Krokorok just after he slashed her across the chest with both sets of his claws, and he was launched back across the battlefield. After CJ saw that both Pokemon's eyes were closed, he put both of his hands in the air while Owen and Dante withdrew their fainted Pokemon.
"Both Pokemon are unable to battle! Trainers, choose your last Pokemon!"
"Nice battling, Krokorok," Owen muttered as he zapped the fainted Pokemon back into his Pokeball. "Snivy, get out there!" Owen exclaimed. Snivy hopped off her trainer's shoulder and landed on the ground while preparing for her opponent. She began to practice throwing punches like a boxer, causing Owen and the others to laugh.
"Great job, Rue. Brago, go!" A Braviary appeared in the air, causing Snivy to look back at Owen while sweat dropping. Owen did the same, but they both turned their attention back to the battle and waited for CJ to speak.
"This battle will be between Snivy and Brago! Begin!"
"Snivy, start this off with Leech Seed!" Owen ordered strategically. Snivy fired a small brown seed at the large eagle, but Brago flew away from the attack with little effort. Snivy frowned at the failure of her attack, but she continued to watch Brago fly through the air.
"Use Aerial Ace at top speed!" Brago swooped down from the air while streaks of white light flew off his face, and he slammed into Snivy, who had tried jumping away from the powerful and super effective attack. Because of the speed behind the Aerial Ace, Snivy was sent flying across the battlefield/ When she hit the ground, she used the two vines from her neck to stop her skidding.
"Use Mega Drain, Snivy!" Snivy fired four green arrows out of her body and towards Brago, who was zipping through the air with his back turned to Snivy. He turned around just in time to see the health restoring attack closing in on him, and he performed a nosedive in order to evade the long range attack. Owen cursed under his breath as Brago landed on the ground and took off towards Snivy in the blink of an eye while Dante grinned.
"Crush Claw!" Brago's talons began to glow white and he jabbed Snivy with them.
"Dodge it and counter with Leaf Blade!" Owen shouted. Snivy attempted to dodge the attack while her tail began to glow green, but she was hit by the normal type attack. Despite being struck, Snivy landed her Leaf Blade attack, which did a fair amount of damage.
"Brago, wrap this up with Aerial Ace!" Dante commanded. Brago, who was only a few feet in front of Snivy, slammed into the smaller Pokemon while white light flew off his body. After taking the brunt of the attack, Snivy was sent flying into Owen, and her eyes were closed. CJ ran onto the battlefield while Brago landed on the ground in front of Dante, and he waved his arms to halt the battle.
"Snivy is unable to battle! Owen, choose your last Pokemon!" Snivy hung her head in disappointment while Owen placed her on the ground next to him, so he smiled at his starter.
"Don't worry about it, Snivy. You did your best." Snivy nodded and waited for the final battle to begin. Owen looked up at Brago and then down at Dante, who was taping his foot against the ground impatiently. "Tranquill, I choose you!" Tranquill appeared from her Pokeball and landed in front of Owen. Instead of squawking at her flying foe - like she normally did - Tranquill bowed to Brago in respect. The eagle did the same thing, and CJ stepped forwards.
"This battle will be between Tranquill and Brago! Begin!"
"Brago, use Crush Claw repeatedly!" Dante ordered aggressively. Brago zipped towards Tranquill while his talons were glowing white, and he began to jab at Tranquill, who managed to dodge the first few attempts.
"Use Detect and dodge each attack, Tranquill!" Owen countered defensively. Tranquill's eyes flashed gold, and she began to spin away from each of the attacks, which began to fatigue Brago. Despite becoming tired, the eagle refused to let up and continued attacking Tranquill before hearing his next command from Dante.
"Don't let up! Use Superpower!" Suddenly, Brago was covered in a bright red aura and he tried slapping Tranquill with his wings. After dodging the first few attacks, Tranquill's eyes returned to their normal color and she was clobbered by the absurd fighting type attack. After being spiked into the ground, Tranquill got back on her feet and took into the air while a blue ring of energy spun around Brago before disappearing.
"Hang in there, Tranquill! Fight back with Air Cutter!" Owen commanded. Tranquill generated a spinning sphere of wind in front of her chest before throwing it at Brago. The clearly fatigued flying type was hit by the ball of air and he was shot back at Dante, who continued his aggressive assault.
"Brago, use Brave Bird!" he yelled without any hesitation. Brago took off towards Tranquill while tucking his wings into his sides, and he was engulfed in flames. Then, the fire turned into sparkling blue energy and Brago continued soaring towards Tranquill, who waited for Owen to counter the attack.
"Tranquill, dodge it and fly away with Quick Attack!" Just as Brago was about to hit into her, Tranquill shot straight in the air while a trail of white light appeared behind her. Because Brago was flying at such a high speed, he was unable to stop, and he slammed into the ground as a result. Then, a blue wave of static danced around his body, causing Brago to wince in pain.
"Brago, use Superpower again!"
"He's being reckless right now," Fate said aloud. "Brave Bird does recoil damage to the user, and Superpower lowers the user's attack power. Dante really wants to finish this quickly." While Tranquill continued to fly while using Quick Attack, she was unaware of Brago chasing her down and eventually striking her with the fighting type attack. Again, Tranquill was spiked into the ground after Brago slammed his wing over her head, and a blue ring spun around his body before disappearing.
"Are you okay, Tranquill?" Owen inquired. The flying type nodded in response and began flying once more. Snivy cheered for her bird friend, and Tranquill waved back to her thankfully.
"Brago, this is it! Use Brave Bird!" Dante commanded, noticing the exhausted Pokemon flying above him. Brago nodded at his trainer's words before tucking his wings into his sides while being engulfed in fire.
"You heard him, Tranquill! Use a spinning Aerial Ace!" Owen shouted while pointing at Brago. As Tranquill reached her top speed and began to spin, Brago was encapsulated in shining blue energy. The two Pokemon then collided, and they battled back and forth. Eventually, the force of the attacks sent both Pokemon flying across the battlefield before they landed on their feet and skidded. After coming to a halt, Tranquill and Brago exchanged confident smirks before blue static appeared around Brago's body, causing him to collapse in pain.
"Brago is unable to battle! That means Owen is the winner!"
As soon as CJ announced the battle was over, Tranquill was enveloped in a bright white light and she began to transform. After the light faded, everyone saw that Tranquill had evolved into Unfezant.
"Alright! Way to go, Unfezant!" Owen cheered as he ran over to his newly evolved Pokemon and patted her on the back. Snivy ran over and gave her a high five with her vine, causing Unfezant to squawk happily.
"Nice battle, dude," Dante told Owen while extending his closed hand for a fist bump. Owen grinned and bumped fists with Dante while Brago hobbled over and stuck his wing out to Unfezant. The newly evolved female tapped Brago's wing, and the two bowed before they were withdrawn to their Pokeballs. "Well, I'm headed to Opelucid for my next badge. I'll see you guys at the league." Dante then walked out of the training room while waving to Owen, CJ, Rebecca, and Fate.
"That was a nice battle! I can't believe Krokorok still isn't listening to you," CJ said to Owen while patting him on the back.
"Thanks. I'm starting to think that Krokorok doesn't want me as a trainer, though."
"I doubt it. Don't you remember him joining you even though he beat Heatmor and won the wager? I think he wants you to prove yourself as a trainer," Fate opined while Owen inspected Krokorok's Pokeball.
"Agreed. He'll turn around at some point. And even if he doesn't you've still got a really strong Pokemon," Rebecca said with a smile. Owen nodded at the reassuring words of his friends, and they began to walk back into the lobby so Owen could heal his Pokemon.

A teen stood at the top of Dragonspiral Tower and looked out at the snowy city with an evil grin. In his hands was the Light Stone that his two admins had stolen and hidden in Celestial Tower. He had looked for it for a few hours before finally stumbling upon the shiny rock. It began to glow in his hands, causing him to cackle into the air. A Hydreigon - presumably his - roared alongside the teen in all yellow.
"This is it, Hydreigon. It's time to summon Reshiram!" After saying this, the teen walked towards the middle of the peak of the tower and held the Light Stone in the air. "Come, Reshiram! Side with your hero!" The white rock in his hands began to glow, and it started to hover in the air. The teen and his Hydreigon watched as the Light Stone shot several rays of light into the air before finally being completely engulfed in light. After another minute, the stone took shape, and a large white dragon stood in front of the blonde teen.
The white dragon had a long mane that was split into two and resembled a pair of ears. It's two enormous wings had three small claws on them, acting as stubby hands, and its chest was rather hairy. Along with gigantic legs and feet, it had a colossal tail, which would glow red every few seconds. After it looked down at the teen with its blue eyes, the white Pokemon let out a mighty roar, which echoed throughout the city.
"My name is Reshiram, and I will fight for you and the truth!"
Gee willikers! JT has summoned Reshiram and Owen beat Dante! Tranquill also evolved, but who cares!? Next chapter, Owen and friends will make their way up Dragonspiral Tower, and Owen will gain a new Pokemon! With his duel approaching soon, will Owen be able to vanquish JT and Reshiram?
