Chapter 29
A couple days passed, and the finals for the battle of the bands were nearing. The resolution of Carlos and DA's argument, however, was not. They didn't tell their friends, for fear of accidentally causing a great divide, but they had a hunch their friends already knew. One day, while walking through the halls, DA got pulled over by Dahlia Horton and her lackeys. "Yo, Fields!" Dahlia began. "We want a word with you." DA blinked in surprise. Dahlia wouldn't dare talk to her unless it was absolutely necessary. DA, none the less, followed Dahlia and her lackeys down the hall and into an abandoned classroom. "So, Dahlia." DA began. "What can I help you with?" "Don't play dumb!" Dahlia shrieked. "You know what you did!" DA blinked in surprise. Dahlia's sidekick, Molly, crossed her arms. "Looks like Carlos got some sense. What? Did you refuse to nail him and he dumped you?" DA rolled her eyes. "Not that it's any of your business, but I put us on hold." She turned and glared at Dahlia. Dahlia's jaw dropped. "Why are you pinning this on me?" She asked. DA rolled her eyes. "I never said I was blaming you." Dahlia turned to her lackeys. "Girls. Please leave me and Darla Alice alone." "It's Dorothy Ann." DA corrected. Molly lead the lackeys out the door and Dahlia turned to DA. "He told you, didn't he?" She asked. DA froze. Dahlia flipped her hair. "He told you about our little... Accident, didn't he?" DA nodded. Dahlia rolled her eyes. "Figures. He had to unearth that one little error and you're punishing him for it." DA looked up in surprise. Dahlia turned. "Listen to me, that was just between me and him. We made our decision. He's not to blame." "But he..." "Talked it over with me and we came up with our decision." DA frowned as Dahlia pulled out two chairs. "Listen to me." Dahlia continued. "I don't like you." She began. "I'm not even going to pretend. But I do care about Carlos, so I'm doing this for him." DA raised an eyebrow. "Listen to me." Dahlia continued. "Carlos loves you. I think you're the first girl he's with who he's not dating just for sex. With me, heck with everyone, we were just the friends with benefits. That's why I told him I wouldn't marry him, and why I aborted our baby. But you, the fact he hasn't even tried, that's pretty amazing." DA stared unconvinced. Dahlia snorted through her nose and continued. "Okay, I knew you weren't going to believe me, so here's the big guns. You know how Molly was supposedly the last girl he slept with?" DA raised an eyebrow. "Um, you said you were going to help my boyfriend get out of trouble, right? I think you're about to do the opposite." Dahlia rolled her eyes. "They never had sex!" Dahlia exclaimed. "They didn't?" DA asked. Carlos shook his head. "They were going to, however, before they could, Carlos called her..." "What?" DA asked. "He called her DA." Dahlia continued. "Even before he dated you, you were the one he chose, whether or not he knew it." DA's jaw dropped. "If you tell anyone I told you this, I won't be so nice. Anyway, see ya round loser." Dahlia continued, before leaving the room. DA gulped, piecing together the words. Once she realized what happened, in a daze she floated out of the class. She knew she had to talk to Carlos as soon as possible. The only problem was, he wasn't at school. He felt too heartsick to go, so his parents let him stay home. He couldn't believe he managed to mess up the one good relationship he was in so quickly. His parents had come in after work to let him know they were going to Mikey's college and he was welcome to attend if he wanted. Carlos just turned and shook his head. His parents just gently ruffled his hair, kissed his cheek and left. "I'm being pathetic." He whispered. "She said were still dating, but..." He closed his eyes and tried to fight back tears. "When did I fall in love with her?" He wondered. He knew her for ages, they did fight like crazy, but they were also really close. She was probably his closest female friend. "I guess I always loved her." He whispered. He turned and was about to leave the room, when he heard singing.
You think I'm pretty
Without any makeup on
You think I'm funny
When I tell the punchline wrong
I know you get me
So I let my walls come down, down
"Ugg!" Carlos groaned. "Mikey left his stereo on! I do not need to hear Evan singing. As he went downstairs to turn the stereo off, the singing continued.
Before you met me
I was alright but things
Were kinda heavy
You brought me to life
Now every February
You'll be my Valentine, Valentine
Getting to the stereo, he realized, it was already turned off. "Wait! Carlos cried out, that means..." Running to the window, he saw DA standing in his yard, holding an iPod over her head singing.
Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance, until we die
You and I, will be young forever
[Chorus:]
You make me feel
Like I'm livin' a
Teenage dream
The way you turn me on
I can't sleep
Let's run away and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
My heart stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now baby I believe
This is real
So take a chance and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
We drove to Cali
And got drunk on the beach
Got a motel and
Built a fort out of sheets
I finally found you
My missing puzzle piece
I'm complete
Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance, until we die
You and I, will be young forever
[Chorus:]
You make me feel
Like I'm livin' a
Teenage dream
The way you turn me on
I can't sleep
Let's run away and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
My heart stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now baby I believe
This is real
So take a chance and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
I'mma get your heart racing
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Let you put your hands on me
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
[Chorus:]
Yoooouuu
You make me feel
Like I'm livin' a
Teenage dream
The way you turn me on
I can't sleep
Let's run away and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
No
My heart stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now baby I believe
This is real
So take a chance and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
I'mma get your heart racing
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Let you put your hands on me
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
(Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight)
Carlos threw the door open and ran over. "What are you doing?" He asked. "Patching things up." DA explained, "I wanted to make it spontaneous." "Say anything..." Carlos breathed. Shaking his head, he turned and gestured to his house. "Come in?" He asked. DA nodded and followed him inside. The two went upstairs to his room, where hey sat on his bed in silence. "So, you forgive me?" He asked. DA nodded. "I'm sorry, I overreacted." She said. Carlos shook his head. "No, to be honest, I wish I hadn't slept with Dahlia... Or any of those girls for that matter. I guess I was like that because I wanted to hide the fact I'm in love with you." Gently brushing her hair out of her eyes, he leaned in and kissed her. When he pulled away, a pink blush coloured DA's face. "I'm in love with you too." She whispered, leaning in to kiss him again. The two of them sat on his bed, kissing passionately, when DA pulled away again. "Have you got anything?" She shyly asked. Carlos's eyes widened. "Are you sure?" He asked. "We just..." "I'm sure." DA replied, placing a finger on his lips. Carlos gulped. "Okay." He began. "Wait one second." Running to his bedside drawer, he managed to find what he was looking for. Heading back to her, the two of kissed again, and their clothing vanished, when it came to the point of no return, while DA was nervous, it wasn't like when she was with Judd. She was ready, and willing.
I think next chapter is going to be my last one... Anyway, that being said. Who do you hope will win battle of the bands? Leave your vote in the comments. Hope you enjoyed so far :3
