HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO MY FIRST UPDATE OF THE NEW YEAR. I am so excited that I got to update this and I really hope you all enjoy it just as much I do.

I hope you all enjoy this chapter and please remember to review. I love you. Please indulge yourself in the angst and the love and comedy (my horrible comedy).

I love you all! Happy New Year. It's time to get in the robots and kick angel ass. (I'm sorry if you do not get the joke. Its a different anime)

Kaiba walked out of the palace, the blonde at his side. Waiting at the gates, henchmen he had chosen for this mission waited. The brunette that handled taking care of King Ryou stood by his side, watched him to make sure that he stayed unconscious.

"Was everything taken care of?" He asked his king.

Kaiba came to a stop in front of his carriage and looked at his henchmen. "Everything that needed to be taken care of was taken care of. I can assure you that."

"What we need to worry about now is gettin da heck out a here." Joey said. He crossed his arms over his chest. "I don't think dat Yugi is going ta come after us, but the others might."

"Relax. I made my orders very clear. That won't happen. And if they do come," Kaiba clenched his fists and cracked his knuckles. "we teach them a lesson. It's as simple as that."

"Not to be rude," Joey turned his attention to Jim, who was eyeing the golden necklace in his hand. "but what on earth do you got there?"

Joey held it up to show Jim, and the others a better look. "Dis, was in Yugi's volt of treasures. When I showed it em, he got really pissed off. Said it was an heirloom."

"And ya just took it?!" Jim exclaimed.

"Well yeah." Joey replied. "Is that a problem?"

Jim wanted to retaliate, tell Joey that his actions were wrong, but knew that he had no place saying it. Joey was his second king. He had no say in what he did. No matter how much he disagreed with it.

"No, it isn't." Jim answered. But his clenched fists showed his true feelings. He wasn't very happy at all. "We should start headin' back. I must return soon, to feed Shirley."

"You mean that freaky alligator thing you keep in your room?!" Atticus shrieked.

"Shirley is a crocodile!" Jim shouted back.

"No one care about your damn pet." Kaiba growled. Jim went silent and Atticus flinched at his threatening tone. Kaiba sighed and pinched the bridge above his nose. "Where is his majesty hiding?"

Atticus directed Kaiba to the carriage and showed him the unconscious first king of the realm. He was tied up, his arms and legs bound so that if he woke up, he wouldn't be able to escape, even if he wanted to.

"Did you give it to him?" Kaiba asked.

"The injection? Yes. I gave it to him as soon as I got him into the carriage. I didn't want to risk the chance of him waking up and causing you any harm." Atticus replied.

Kaiba nodded in approval and Atticus opened the carriage. "We really should be leaving. Please, get inside, your majesties."

Kaiba got into the carriage and Joey walked over after Kaiba embarked. He looked over at Atticus and said, "I'm getting on because I want to, not because you said to." and stepped into the carriage and sat down beside Kaiba.

Atticus closed the door and sat down in the front with Jim. And with that, they were gone.

"Are you just going to let that guy walk all over you?" Chazz shouted. He stalked over to Yugi and stood over him. Anger was evident in his eyes as he watched Yugi wallow in his own self pity. "You're the king of this realm. You have more power than that guy. Why are you letting him push you around?"

"You wouldn't understand…" Yugi mumbled.

"I wouldn't understand what? Being walked on? Being taken advantage of by a higher power?" Chazz grabbed Yugi's collar and pulled him up, forcing him to stand up. "You aren't my king. You don't know my story because I doubt you watch over us demons. But my life wasn't all smiles and rainbows. So get your head out of the clouds and do something about this!"

Yugi turned to face Chazz. You could see the frustration in those amethyst eyes. "I am only one person. I have too much to worry about. I have a war going on with the dark realm. I need to work on bringing back all of those kids. And, now I have to find a way to bring back my fiance and take control back of this kingdom. I can't do everything at once!" Yugi shouted.

Chazz backed away from Yugi. He never would have guessed that he could show so much anger and aggression.

"Chazz, that was rude. Apologize to his majesty." Alexis said, her hands on her hips.

Chazz flushed in embarrassment and bowed to Yugi. "I'm sorry. I was a bit out of line. I forgot how demanding your life is."

Yugi took a few deep breaths. In and out. He looked at Chazz and apologized. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that either. It was disrespectful of me to lash out on you. Ryou would never forgive me if he knew I did that."

"King Ryou has always been known to be a peaceful leader." Aster said. "He rarely loses his temper."

"Yes. Only situations like Bakura bring out his ruthless side. He will do anything to protect his people and the children of his realm." Yugi replied.

"Speaking of his majesty," Aster spoke up. "How do you plan on getting him back? If you're needed here, how are you going to save him?"

Yugi clenched his fists, trying to stop himself from shaking. "I...I don't know. I have too much to handle while Ryou is gone." Yugi looked down at his hand, at the tattoo on his right hand in the shape of a ring. He ran his fingers over the ink and listened to his ecstatic heart beat as it hammered in his chest. "I have to keep this realm at peace. For Ryou. This is his life! His home! He has kept this realm standing during the war with his brother." He looked up and around at everyone in the room. "I have to keep the peace. It's the least I can do."

Alexis walked up to Yugi, her hands cupped together. Yugi noticed her presence and looked over at her.

"We'll rescue his majesty for you! Its the least we can do as you try to locate our friends." Alexis said.

"Are you nuts? We don't even know where they took him or what the hell we're up against!" Aster shouted.

"We have to try!" Alexis fired back.

"Do you have any idea where they would have taken Ryou?" Zane asked Yugi.

Yugi just sighed. "To his castle is my only thought. I don't know of any other land that he has that he could use."

"He said that he was king. King of what? I've never heard of him." Rei asked.

"Kaiba, or as he likes to be called King Seto is king of the fallen. I'm sure you've never heard of the fallen. The Fallen were once like us, either angel or demon, that have been diminished to their former glory. Submitted to torture and research by humans. They've lost their wings but are still powerful creatures. They were known as "Creatures of the Damned" many centuries ago. They have only just resurfaced not too long ago. It was thought that they were only legend, but then Kaiba showed up and made it well known to both myself and Ryou that his kind were still around, he made it very clear that they were not to be forgotten." Yugi explained.

"The Fallen...they sound like such a sad people." Alexis said.

"Were they really tortured?" Rei asked.

"From what I've been told, yes." Yugi replied.

Zane let his arms fall at his sides. "We'll get Ryou back."

Yugi smiled. "Thank you. I appreciate your bravery."

It wasn't long until they reached the little boy's house. They had found out that on the way there that his name was Masao. He has short black hair and black eyes. His sister has been sick for a while now and didn't show any signs of getting better. Their father was already preparing for her to go to heaven. His mother, however was still praying for her to get better.

Haou was still confused as to where exactly Heaven was but he was starting to believe that it was the realm of light. He didn't really see what the big deal was about her going from here to there. Death in his world was normal now thanks to the war. However, their people tend to live for thousands and thousands of years. Some wish for death to come as they grow old and aching, tired of seeing bloodshed.

But it was different with humans. They seem to fear death more than angels and demons do. They speak of being separated by Earth and Heaven. If they speak about life after death, why do they fear it so much? It's like they don't even believe themselves no matter how many times they repeat themselves.

As they were being lead up his sister's room, Jehu looked over at Haou. "Do you have a plan for this?"

"A plan? You were the one to say to go with him and try to heal his sister. I don't know anything about healing." Haou fired back.

Jehu took a deep breath. "There has to be something we can do." He reached into his vest and pulled out a small book and quickly began to flip through it. "Something…."

Haou noticed the book and raised an eyebrow. "What in the hell is that?"

"It's a spellbook. I'm hoping that it will have a section on healing." Jehu replied.

"Let's hope so." Haou mumbled to himself.

Masao came to a stop at his sister's room. His mother sat at his sister's side, her hands wrapped in her pale and sickly ones. Her breathing was heavy and she was sweating profusely.

"Mom…" Masao said softly. He walked further into his sister's room and walked closer to his mother. "Mom, someone is here to help, sis get better."

His mother finally looked up to look at her son. "What do you mean?"

Masao looked back at Haou and Jehu and then back at his mother. "I've brought the angels that I've been praying for. They're here to help. The angels are here to help!"

"DON'T YOU EVER SAY THAT AGAIN!" His mother shouted. "You're sister is going to get better. Don't listen to your father's lies. She is not going to die!"

"But mother, they're really here. They're right there! See!?" Masao turns around to face his angels again. His mother does the same only to sigh. "Mom, why are you still sad? They're here? Can't you see them too?"

"Masao," She stood up and walked over to her son and placed her hands on his shoulders. "don't let this traumatic time get to you. There are no angels here. Only medical help can help her. I will get that help soon. I just need to get the money together. The angels will not take your sister just yet. Not if I have anything to say about it!"

Haou gave Jehu a look and Jehu could tell that this was going to be complicated. Masao's mother could not see them, so she didn't believe her son that they were here. And from the way she reacted, she wishes that they weren't here.

"Should we even try?" Haou asked Jehu.

"I don't know. It's up to Masao, really." Jehu replied.

Haou crossed his arms over his chest and looked back at Masao. "Hey, kid," Masao looked back at Haou, paying no mind to his mother who was still talking to him. "Are we still going to try this out or what?"

Masao nodded a silent "yes" and Haou and Jehu took that as their cue to try and save his sister. Jehu took another look at the spellbook before voicing his research.

"It says here that, mages who are to heal the sick and dying, have little chance of success. However, to lift their spirits high, this spell is often used to relieve them of their discomfort and make them happy." Jehu read aloud from the book.

"And what the hell does that mean?" Haou asked.

"I think it means that we can at least temporarily make her feel better until their mother can afford actual treatment. It said that it will relieve their discomfort and make them happy. What do we have to lose?" Jehu replied.

"Oh, I don't know. A LITTLE GIRL'S LIFE!" Haou shouted.

Jehu cracked his fingers and placed his hands on the little girl's chest and began to concentrate on his energy. "Come on. Work dammit!"

But nothing was happening. His energy wasn't producing enough. Jehu growled and concentrated harder. "Dammit! Don't do this to me now! Work!"

Haou placed his hands over Jehu's and concentrated his own energy as well. Jehu looked over his shoulder, shocked at what Haou was doing.

"What the hell are you doing?" Jehu shouted.

"I'm helping you. Swallow your damn pride and concentrate!" Haou shouted back.

"This is an demon spellbook. It says nothing of the effects of angel energy mixing with it. It could be dangerous!" Jehu said.

"What the hell does it matter? Wouldn't my magic be preferred in this situation. After all, he asked for the "angel's" help. Not you, you demon." Haou growled in reply.

"Shut up! Just let me do this!" Jehu shouted.

Haou huffed and pulled away. "Do what you want! But that girl will die sooner than you can get that magic of yours working. Did you forget that we can't call on even half of our strength here?"

"I'll handle this." Jehu said. He closed his eyes again and concentrated on his energy. "Come on."

Jehu's hands began to illuminate with a dark aura. The girl's body began to glow brightly. Haou could hear her heart beat in the air. It made his eyes widen from shock. He held his hands over his ears. He could feel her heart beat as it pulsed through the air.

"What the fuck is that?" Haou asked.

"I don't know. Let's hope that means it's working!" Jehu replied.

Masao looked back and saw what was going on and his eyes widened. "Are you healing my sister?"

"Masao, there is no one there. Give it a rest. This isn't funny anymore. Let your sister rest!" His mother said as she tried to usher him out of the room.

Jehu was beginning to grow tired. It was a lot more energy than he first thought he would. Haou walked over to Jehu and placed his hands back over Jehu's to lend his energy to him. "I'm helping you and that's final. Don't complain."

"Why are you-" Jehu started but Haou cut him off.

"This is not the time to complain. Remember we're here to find our brothers. We can't survive on pride alone." Haou said.

Jehu shook his and ignored the nagging in his head and continued to help this little girl.

That was when the light faded away completely. Haou and Jehu removed their hands from her chest and stepped away. The could move longer feel her heart beat in the air. It was completely silent.

"What happened?" Haou asked.

Jehu placed his ear to her chest, just above her heart. He listened for a few moments. He stood up and shook his head.

"Dammit!" Haou hissed.

Masao saw their upset faces and ran over to Haou and Jehu. "What happened? Did you fix my sister?"

Jehu said nothing. He only looked away from Masao and bit his lip. Masao looked at Haou for answers. Haou didn't want to be the one to deliver the news, but Jehu was being tight lipped about it. He had no choice.

"We're sorry, Masao. We couldn't save her. She's gone." Haou said.

As Masao listened, tears rolled down his cheeks. He looked over at his little sister. He saw how still she was. How she wasn't struggling to breath anymore. He closed his eyes, turned around and ran over to his sister's side.

"Sis! Wake up! You can't be gone!" Masao cried.

Masao's mother ran over to him and her daughter. She was hoping her son's cries were false and her daughter still lives. But when she placed her fingers to her neck and checked her pulse. She felt nothing.

"Maye! No!" She cried into her daughter's arm. Masao clung onto his mother.

"Masao, we're so sorry. We tried! We really did!" Haou said.

Masao lifted this head and glared at Haou and Jehu. Haou stepped back. "You killed my sister. You aren't welcome here anymore."

Haou was surprised that he could be frightened by a child. He grabbed Jehu's shoulder and gave it a gentle shake.

"We should go." Haou said.

"...yeah." Jehu replied.

Haou and Jehu quickly escaped the home, leaving Masao and his mother to mourn for Maye.

It was early morning hours and Jesse woke with a start at the sound of a loud alarm going off. It was irritating and Jesse wanted know where the source of the noise was coming from.

"Oh drat. Just turn off already." Amane complained.

Jesse got out of bed and walked out of his and Jaden's shared room to go and check on Amane. When he walked into the living room, he saw Amane waving a dish towel in front of a small white device on the wall. He made his way over to her to see just what was going on.

"Is something wrong?" Jesse shouted over the loud beeping.

"Oh its nothing really." Amane replied as she took the battery out, the beeping stopping almost immediately. "Just the fire alarm?"

Jesse could smell something burning. "Was something burning just now?"

Amane blushed. "Oh yeah. I was trying to make breakfast and I burned the bacon a bit too much."

Jesse walked into the kitchen and noticed the small trail of smoke coming from the pan and understood now exactly what happened.

"Have you cooked like that before?" Jesse asked.

"No. I don't cook much at all because I'm not that good." Amane admitted.

"Then why were trying to make breakfast if you know you can't cook?" Jesse asked.

"I never have guests over too often. Especially children. I wanted to make you guys feel at home as best as I could." Amane said.

Jesse smiled. "That was kind of you."

Amane flushed again. She wasn't used to the flattery."Where is Jaden? He's not up yet?" Amane asked.

Jesse shrugged his shoulders. "I guess not. He must have been really wiped out."

Amane frowned at that. "Just what on earth happened to you two before you came to the hospital?"

Jesse looked away from Amane. She knew that she was bringing back hard times but she was beginning to worry. They mentioned in short what was going on in their world, the war and everything that happened with the king. But they never once mentioned how far they've traveled to get here to Domino, what they had to go through. How long they were even out there.

"Jesse," Amane walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You can talk to me. I know we just met. But I want to help you. Jaden too. You two are special to me. I want to help you get home. And if that means getting better first, then let me help you."

"Hey," Jaden mumbled as he walked out of the room, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "What's goin' on?" Jaden sniffed the air and smelt the lingering scent of something burning. "Did something happen? What was burning?"

Amane clapped her hands and smiled brightly, moving on from the earlier distraction. "You know what? Forget home-cooked breakfast. Let's go out."

"Out?" Jaden questioned with concern. "No one can see us here? What would it matter?"

Amane placed a hand on her chin and began to think. "I don't know. I say we try it. We still have a few hours before I have to go in for work. So, we have time to test my theory."

"A theory?" Jesse asked.

"A theory." Amane repeated. She turned Jaden and Jesse around and began to push them back to their room. "Go get dressed. We're going shopping!"

Once they were pushed into the room, Amane closed the door behind her and raced off to her own room to get dressed. She was filled with excitement at the thought of shopping with her new guests.

Meanwhile, Jaden and Jesse were confused and concerned by Amane's plans.

"Shopping!" Jaden shouted. "Why would I want to go shopping?"

Jesse rolled his eyes. "Do it for her, Jay. I'm sure she just wants to help us is all."

But Jaden didn't understand what going shopping had to do with breakfast. "But why shopping? Just what kind of theory does she have? Does she think clothes will magically make people see us?"

"Yes!" Amane shouted through the door.

Jaden spun around from shock as he heard Amane's voice from behind the standard white door. Amane opened the door and peeked her head inside. She was already dressed in her day attire. A red sweater and some jeans. "Come on, you two. Get dressed! We only have so much time."

After she closed the door again. Jaden couldn't help but feel worried about all this.

"You seriously think that this is a good idea?" Jaden asked.

Jesse grabbed their freshly washed clothes that were left on their dresser at some point in the night and handed Jaden his. "Don't question it. It's one morning. Amane has to be in for work at noon. That still gives us plenty of time to figure out a way to get home."

Jaden looked from Jesse to his clothes and then back to Jesse. "Alright."

Jesse gave Jaden's shoulder a pat and then left the room to go change.

Jaden still couldn't help but worry that something was going on.

I hope you all enjoyed the chapter as much as I did. A friendly reminder that Maye is not a real character. She was made up for plot reasons. But Masao is real. He's from the manga.

Please remember to review. I love you all and happy 2015!
