Soundtrack: Despair Syndrome

That dream...what was that..?

It was a dream, yet I remembered it like it happened right in front of me.

Should I have recognized the two..?

Except I didn't. But that mother walked up to me, and..!

I let out a small gasp and placed my hand around my chin. It was still bleeding, and it was bleeding quite heavily, dripping down to my feet. How...how did it start bleeding in the first place..?

I collapsed to the ground and shuddered, my eyes widening, more and more until I felt like the skin wrapped around my eyes would just burst.

"M-Master..?"

I looked up. Who was it..? It was Mirai... Mirai..? What's he doing here..?

"M-Master, what happened to you..? You're bleeding..!"

"O-oh, Mirai," I stammered. "U-um, I'm fine..."

"N-no, you're bleeding really badly..!" Mirai gasped. "Did someone try to...kill you?"

"I-I don't think so," I stuttered. "I just...I don't know what happened..."

Mirai took off his scarf and handed it to me, giving me the notion to wrap it around my chin. Instead, I simply just pressed it down, putting pressure on it so that the bleeding would cease.

"Why are you so shaken up..?" Mirai asked, as I continued to shudder.

Well it was because of the dream of course...it was too real, too surreal. I was frightened... The whole thing was able to make me weak and collapse.

"...Master..?" Mirai asked.

"I-I just saw something scary," I lied. "I fell down and...my chin started to bleed."

Mirai tiled his head, as if he didn't believe me at all.

"Is that really what happened..?"

Confirmed. He didn't believe me...

"Yeah..." I said, continuing my facade. "It's true, okay..?"

"...Well, alright," Mirai said.

"Hey, I thought you were at the submarines..."

"Well, you told me you'd be there soon, but it's been half an hour. I got worried so I came back..."

"Thanks, but I'm okay... I'm fine now."

Mirai sighed and got up, reaching his hand out towards me. I grasped it graciously and struggled to my feet, until I was able to stand on my own. Mirai offered his shoulder, but I denied. I was fine now...just shaken up.

While we were walking to the entrance lobby though, I was confused with myself. Why couldn't I tell him about the dream..? Why did I feel like if I did...something bad would happen? It's already enough that I'm keeping the lie of Kirei and Furo's execution with me, but now I have something else that I have to hide? From Mirai too?

I walked in silence, my brain shuffling left and right. I didn't know what to make of my dream; not even the faintest idea came to my mind. Who was that lady? Who was that little girl? Why was I standing there? How did the lady walk up to me? Why did my chin start to bleed..?

Honestly, it felt like something out of a horror. A nightmare, if you will...

Eventually we made it to the entrance lobby. The others were waiting, and from their faces, I could see they were a bit startled.

"K-Keiko, what happened to your chin..?" Noah asked. "Did you fall..?"

I nodded. "S-so, you came here after all?"

"Monokuma threatened to punish me if I didn't, so..."

I nodded once more and wiped some excess blood off of my chin.

"Anyways, we should head back..." I sighed.

"Oho?" asked Monokuma from behind me. "Keiko, what happened to you..? Your chin is all bruised, you know."

"This is nothing," I said. "Just forget it, okay?"

"That's okay, that's okay," Monokuma said. "You don't need to be afraid. It's fine to be a masochist."

"Absolutely not," I snapped.

And the ride back to the first dome...was bathed in silence. I guess I created somewhat of an awkward mood, so no one felt like talking, yet for some reason, I felt like hearing someone.

"Oh, so awkward," Monokuma sighed from the cockpit. "C'mon you guys, converse!"

...Well, not that voice.

...Well, instead of conversing, I was sent here to my room because of my condition. Even though I insisted I was fine.

Oh well. What can you do..?

...Actually, they should be done talking by now. Maybe I can have some time to myself.

No one's probably doing anything because of what happened to me today, and it's been awhile since I actually got to talk to someone individually.

Alright then, let's go...

FREE-TIME

Location: Cafeteria | Time: 1:10 PM | Chapter Four | 21 DAYS LEFT

[Noah is sitting somewhere in a library, reading a book...]

NOAH: Keiko, are you feeling better..?

[I was alright in the first place...anyways, should I ask him to hang out..?]

YES

NO

NOAH: Sure, I was just...Er, reading something.

[I talked quietly with Noah in the library.]

NOAH: …

KEIKO: Er, Noah, could I ask what you were reading..?

NOAH: Me? A book.

KEIKO: ...Well, yeah.

NOAH: What else do you want to know..?

KEIKO: I mean, what about the book?

NOAH: It was non-fiction.

KEIKO: Oh, so it's true?

NOAH: Of course it is. It has to be true. How could it not be true?

[...Did he just get aggressive at me?]

NOAH: If it's not true, I'll end up killing myself.

[...Woah.]

NOAH: Oh, I mean that figuratively of course.

KEIKO: Well I hope so..!

NOAH: Did I concern you? I didn't mean to.

NOAH: However, this book is something that I feel strongly about.

KEIKO: So what's in the book?

NOAH: If I told you, I'd have to kill you.

KEIKO: You couldn't think of anything else to say, huh..?

NOAH: Well, what would you even want me to say?

NOAH: The contents in this file is classified.

KEIKO: A file? I thought it was a book.

NOAH: It is.

KEIKO: But you just said it was a file.

NOAH: It isn't.

KEIKO: But you said it was...

NOAH: Incorrect.

KEIKO: But –

NOAH: That's enough.

KEIKO: I -

NOAH: It's a very exciting and fast paced fiction tale about a young detective's hopes and dreams, yet crushed by a loss of his mother's murder tale.

KEIKO: You said it was non-fiction!

NOAH: Exactly. Are we done here..?

KEIKO: ...Alright.

NOAH: Very good.

KEIKO: ...It's a police file, isn't it?

NOAH: ...N-no...

KEIKO: Aha! You stammered!

NOAH: L-listen, there are some things that you shouldn't pry into. This is one of those times.

NOAH: Might I remind you what big secret that I'm keeping just for you?

KEIKO: Okay, okay. I was just concerned. You looked on edge...

NOAH: Whatever form of literature I was reading should not concern you.

NOAH: You should be more concerned about yourself, anyhow. The secret is something you need to look into, isn't it?

KEIKO: R-right...

NOAH: Like I said, I do not think you did it on purpose. But there had to be some sort of reason you pressed the button.

KEIKO: Well...

NOAH: It's a fantasy, honestly... I do hope you find an answer to your troubles.

KEIKO: You're saying I might have done it with malice..?

NOAH: Well no matter what the reasons were for you to do it, there was malice involved, obviously. The question is what your motive was.

NOAH: And I'm looking forward to what that is...

[Damn... He managed to change the subject completely, and he's keeping silent about the book...now I'm somewhat curious, but I'd best not pry it out of him. I wouldn't want to make him any angrier...]

[...Yoshinori is pointing her hand at a poster of Monokuma...]

YOSHINORI: Distance from target...20 meters. Wind direction is unclear. Pressure is minimal. And...fire..!

[I'd...best stay away for now. Or should I risk hanging out with her..?]

YES
NO

YOSHINORI: Keiko! Don't interrupt my target practice!

[I watched Yoshinori do her target practice...]

YOSHINORI: Hm...I remember being a robot now, but for some reason I can't really shoot well.

KEIKO: You didn't shoot at all.

YOSHINORI: Well if I did, the damn building woulda just collapsed. We'd all drown and we'd all die. Drown and die, drown and die. Is that what'cha want?

KEIKO: That's not what I said though.

YOSHINORI: Yeah. Guess so...

KEIKO: ...Anyways...this is a bit weird.

YOSHINORI: What? Talkin' to a robot?

KEIKO: Heh, yeah...I mean, it's all so -

YOSHINORI: There's no need to be like that!

KEIKO: Huh?

YOSHINORI: I may be a robot, but I got feelings too ya know!

KEIKO: O-oh no, I didn't mean –

YOSHINORI: Everyday, I'm patronized for not being human..! I think I'll fall apart in sadness..!

[It hasn't been that long since you revealed your true self though..!]

KEIKO: I-I'm sorry.

YOSHINORI: ...Naw, it's fine. I'm used to it.

KEIKO: Used to it..? How long can you remember being like that?

YOSHINORI: ...Er, not that long, actually.

KEIKO: So what are you used to?

YOSHINORI: Well...I dunno.

KEIKO: Great answer.

YOSHINORI: Stop harassing me about it..! I don't know, alright?

KEIKO: Alright, alright...

YOSHINORI: I'm just confused...

YOSHINORI: I mean, I feel human...or I think I do. But I know that I'm not...

KEIKO: Well, if you can feel emotion, than essentially you're just like a human.

KEIKO: There's nothing really separating you from me...besides your weapons of course.

YOSHINORI: Really..? Is that how it works..?

YOSHINORI: To be a human, you just need to feel..?

KEIKO: I mean, sort of, yeah. I think that's how it works.

YOSHINORI: ...Well then, I'm glad to be a robot!

YOSHINORI: I get to be human, and have kick-ass weaponry!

KEIKO: I wouldn't put it like that though...

YOSHINORI: Well that's too bad because now I'm digging myself!

[Did I say something right to her..?]

KEIKO: Y-you sure changed your opinion of yourself pretty quick.

YOSHINORI: Well what can I say? I'm even honest to myself. Like how you're extremely skinny, I can accept how I'm a robot but with human qualities.

KEIKO: I'm not that skinny.

YOSHINORI: Yeah, that's not true.

YOSHINORI: But being skinny ain't a bad thing..! I mean, uh...that means you can eat more without getting bigger!

KEIKO: ...Alright, that doesn't help.

YOSHINORI: Hmm, not that I don't want to make you feel better, but I got nothin' other than that.

[Gee, thanks.]

[Yoshinori is the biggest case of mood whiplash I've seen in a long time. But I guess that's just in her nature.]

[Hikaru is pouting a little bit...]

HIKARU: …

HIKARU: Keiko, is that you..?

[Should...I hang out with him?]

YES

NO

HIKARU: Alright, sure.

[I sorted books in the library with Hikaru.]

KEIKO: Hikaru...you're surprisingly...soft.

HIKARU: ...Soft?

KEIKO: I don't know. I just noticed you weren't really the image of a delinquent prisoner.

HIKARU: I hope I can take that as a compliment...

KEIKO: Oh, sure, yeah. I'm not really intimidated by you...though I probably should be.

HIKARU: I'm not a hostile person though.

HIKARU: There's really no need for anyone to be intimidated by me.

[But...you're muscles are huge and you're wearing a wife beater...]

KEIKO: You're not a hostile person, huh..?

KEIKO: So why were you accused of that crime then..?

HIKARU: My crime?

KEIKO: Come to think of it, I don't really even know what that is yet.

HIKARU: Oh, it's nothing important right now. It just...er, managed to land me in jail.

HIKARU: But now that we're in this situation, I think what I did isn't something to be worried about.

KEIKO: ...Guess not.

HIKARU: Also, it's not something I like talking about, you know.

KEIKO: Guess that's true too...sorry for bringing it up.

HIKARU: It's a valid concern.

HIKARU: Just don't bring it up again, for my sake.

KEIKO: Alright...got it.

HIKARU: Thank you.

HIKARU: I'll be heading to the cafeteria for a snack now.

KEIKO: S-sure...

[He's so...polite. I wonder what crime he really did commit...and if he actually committed it.]

*Ding, dong! Ding, dong!*

"Attention, you bastards! It's now nighttime! Go to sleep already! I, uh, got some things to do!"

Soundtrack: OST 1-11: Despair Syndrome

...Huh. That was a different nighttime announcement than usual...guess I'll just go to sleep then.

But then again...I am concerned about what Monokuma has to do. It probably couldn't be good, huh?

Should I sleep or not sleep?

If I don't sleep, Monokuma will probably catch on and there's really no telling what he'd do, but for Monokuma to be doing something while we're all in our little dream worlds is sort of uncomfortable to think about. Not to mention I don't really want another dream like the one I had earlier today.

*Knock, knock*

"Who is it?" I called out, walking towards my room door. I looked through the peephole mantled through the middle of the door, but I didn't see anyone...Strange.

I guess I'll just open it a little bit...

*Clank! Crack!*

"Huh..?"

I peered through the slightly ajar door and looked to my right, and I saw little scurrying feet. It was probably Monokuma or Meowykins...

"Yeah, run, you pervert!" I yelled out.

But then again...they must have thrown something into my room. I heard something clatter against the floor.

I turned around and scanned the room, top and bottom, until my vision led to me to a small silver canister in the corner of the room.

"The hell is this..?" I said softly to myself. I picked the canister up, and inspected it carefully. It was really suspicious.

...Phew. I'm getting a little dizzy...

I looked at my door, still open. I'd...better close it, so I can go to sleep. I'd better lock it too...I don't want anyone to sneak in at night...

I yawned heavily as I shut the door.

Ugh...what the..? Why do I feel so..?

I leaned against the door, my legs trembling – feeling incredibly weak. I looked over at the canister, and squinted my eyes.

From the piece of metal junk...there was a small fog seeping out.

"Mono...kum...a..."

"...Hrnng...rn...ng..."

And I fell into a restless sleep, waking up in a place I wasn't exactly expecting.

Soundtrack: P4U2: Yukari's Theme

...It's...hot.

"..."

"Welcome to your tropical paradise!" said a squeaky voiced.

I looked up and saw that everyone was lying down on the floor of a supply closet. I opened my eyes halfway, and saw Monokuma and Meowykins standing by the supply closet.

"I see, I see..! You're all awake now!" Monokuma said. "Regards, everyone! Today is your moving day! You're all stuck in this dome right here!"

...What?

But...we're in a supply closet. Where are we?

Meowykins sighed, and opened the door to the supply closet, revealing a large supermarket we were in, filled with useless junk.

...and it was abnormally hot in here.
