Chapter Four

It was already three o´clock and I didn´t know what to wear. I didn´t want to give Aaron the wrong message so I decided to wear something simple. A red knit turtleneck jersey and blue skinny jeans. I combed the knots of my long brown hair and looked myself at the mirror.

- Okay I got this. This is not a date, this is a meeting… God Gwen what have you gotten yourself into! - I cried in frustration.

I mean it´s not like I like the guy. Okay maybe a little but the main reason I am nervous is because I never really dated anyone. There was always something more important than the world of dating to me and I was fine with that. Until Aaron showed up.

I heard a noise downstairs. I was all alone in the house. Bella was with that Jacob guy and Charlie was still at work. I heard a noise again and I stopped breathing afraid to get caught.

- Great now I am about to die not only from the embarrassment but also by a serial killer! This just made my day! – I whispered lowly and made my way downstairs.

I tried to control my breathing but I couldn´t. I was too nervous and scared. I looked around and there was no one around. It was calm…too calm. I grabbed the nearest lamp and looked around. The wind was gently tapping the windows and I slightly jumped grabbing the lamp tighter. Suddenly a wave of air passed through me. Something was not right. I could feel it.

- Well hello! – A young boy said to me. He as pale as Edward and his iris were blood shot red. His face was contorted in an evil smirk. He looked starved.

- Who are you and what do you want from me? - I snarled at him.

He walked to me and I instantly took a few steps away from him still clutching tightly the lamp.

- I am nobody. Only a soulless person who is about to rip your heart out - he smiled at me. This was sick! My powers were about to take charge but I decided to control myself.

- Well I am sorry but I am not going to let that happen. You see I have a date in less than an hour so I am warning you: get out of here before you get hurt! – I tried to look mean and dangerous but my voice cracked from the fear.

He laughed at me and I couldn´t hold it any longer. I dropped the lamp and I concentrated my energy on my hands. When I opened them a ball of fire was formed. The beast was stunned.

- Get. Out. Now. - I said to him. My heart was pounding heavily in my chest and he smirked. The vampire seemed pretty impressed and shocked but he soon masked his feelings.

He closed the gap between us and caressed my neck. I shivered and then he whispered in my ear:

- You should watch your back because when you least expect it, I will be there WITCH. - I gulped and closed my eyes. When I opened them he was gone.

I couldn´t breathe. My lungs were demanding air but all I could think about was HIM. What did this vampire want? Who was he? I was still in the hall when the door opened. I screamed.

- Hey it is just me! Are you ok? You look a bit pale. – Bella came rushing to me and caressed my pale cheek. I nodded and cleared my throat.

- Oh sorry I just watched a scary movie but I am okay never mind! – My voice was still pretty bit shaken and I don´t think that Bella believed in me.

Suddenly Edward walked in and engulfed Bella in a hug.

- Do you understand how worried I have been? – Edward was looking at Bella worried. He was checking her face, her arms to see if she was hurt. I quirked my eyebrow and crossed my arms.

- What the hell… - I whispered to myself. Why is he so worried?

- I am sorry Edward but I am perfectly fine. Jake can take care of me. He is my friend! - Bella reassured Edward but he was still looking at her brown orbs trying to find out the truth. He was growing impatient and sighed defeated. She was telling the truth.

Suddenly Edward bolts and went upstairs to Bella´s room. We followed him to make sure he was ok.

- Edward is everything ok? – I asked him warily.

Edward touched Bella´s dream catcher turned around and looked at me.

- Gwendolyn has anyone been here? - Edward asked me.

Should I tell them? I decided for Bella and Edward´s sake not tell anything about my encounter with this unknown vampire. I didn´t want to lead my cousin and her boyfriend to some freak show who just happens to love ripping hearts out!

- No…I was just here all alone. Safe and sound! - I said and gulped in fear. He stared directly at me and his eyes changed. There were as black as the night. I looked down nervously. I know he didn´t believe in me.

- We have to go Bella - I assumed they were going to the Cullen's.

- Ok. Hmm…talk to you later? - Bella asked me.

- Yeah don´t worry about it. Just go! - I smiled reassuring her that everything was alright.

- Ok bye! – She gave me a quick hug and left with Edward. I eyed Edward suspiciously. I didn´t trust him. He remembered my last encounter with Red Eyes. I shivered.

- Goodbye Gwendolyn.

- Goodbye… Edward - he just nodded and walked away.

I looked at my phone. It was five o´clock. In two hours I was almost killed by a psychopathic and my date…OH MY GOD MY DATE! This was a DISASTER! Did I just reject one of the most popular guys in school?!

I called Roxy. I needed help!

- Hi Roxy it´s Gwen.

- Hi Gwen! So how was your date? I want all of the details! – She laughed like a school girl and I rolled my eyes.

- How about none? – I lowered my voice afraid of her reaction.

- Very funny Gwen! Come on TELL ME!

- I…I didn´t go. – I whispered and closed my eyes.

- WHAT?! Are you saying that you stood up one of the hottest guys in school? ARE YOU CRAZY? WHY? WHAT? HOW? – Roxy´s voice ringed in my ear and I pulled my phone away while I heard her speech.

- Well…I…hum… I had a family emergency and I couldn´t go! – That seemed like a plausible reason.

- Is that a lie? – She asked me.

- NO! YES! I mean…no! Argh God! I just don´t know what to do. Help me! – I whined and she laughed.

- OMG this is a good thing!

- What dumping the popular guy is your idea of something good?

- No silly! Aaron is used to get what he wants in a blink of an eye but NOW he will see he has to work a lot more to enchant you.

- Pfff! Enchant? Me? You have got to be joking Roxy!

- Here is the plan: you don´t say anything to him tomorrow. When he talks to you and asks you why you didn´t go you just say that you forgot because you had so many things to do!

- Roxy that is harsh! – I gasped at her devilish plan.

- In the end you will thank me! Promise me you don´t do anything stupid!

- Fine I promise. I´ll see you tomorrow! – I sighed and said goodbye.

- Bye girl!

When Roxy hanged up the phone, I didn´t think I had the guts to follow her plan. I am not a mean person and I always expect people to treat me as well as I treat them. However, there is no such thing as a respectful world. I am always the one that gets hurt. Mum used to tell me that I always saw the good in people even when they were mean to me. I just hoped that Aaron wouldn´t hurt me.
