Chapter Five

I walked in and I looked around. The school bell hasn´t rang and everybody was near their lockers talking to each other. I was looking everywhere for Aaron but I couldn´t find him. I looked at my left and there he was with his friends laughing about something. I didn´t know if I should go right now…I mean he is with his friends and…

- NO! JUST GO TALK TO HIM! Tell Aaron that you are sorry and… - I was talking to myself when I heard someone calling me. Darcie was staring at me like I was crazy. I stopped talking and smiled like nothing ever happened.

- Hi Gwen! Are you…OK? - Darcie smiled to me and rested a hand on my shoulder.

- Yeah I am fine why wouldn´t I be? I was just thinking about something. – I involuntary looked at Aaron. He was still talking to his friends and smiling like nothing ever happened.

- More like someone! - Roxy appeared and smirked.

- Roxy I can´t do it! I cannot look him right in the eyes and lie to him!

- Who are you going to lie? – A voice interrupted our conversation. I gulped and turned around and there he was! Aaron Langdon! Standing right next to my locker! I went to open my locker but he was faster and blocked my way.

- There must be a pretty good reason why you didn´t go yesterday, right? - Oh god help me! Where are Roxy and Darcie? I turned around but they weren´t there anymore. Some friends hum?

- Sorry about that. Family emergency. - I tried to walk away from him but he grabbed my wrist.

- Oh come on. Family emergency? You have to do better than that! - I gulped and looked down.

- You have to make it up to me.

I thought he would be angrier but when I stared into his playful eyes I didn´t see any traces of anger. I eased up a bit and slightly smiled.

- Okay!

- Have you ever surfed?

- No. But I always wanted to try!

- Great! Today is your lucky day! You and me are going to the First Beach and kill some waves! - he smirked.

- So you are a quarterback AND a surfer? You are full of surprises! – I said and he snickered while rubbing his neck.

- Yeah well what can I say? I am a box filled with surprises! – He winked at me and walked away leaving me speechless. Did he just flirt with him?

- You are smiling like a buffoon you know? - I turned around and I was greeted by Alice. My cheeks were still red and they got even redder when Alice winked at me. Was I that obvious? She laughed and hugged me.

- Alice is so good to see you too! How are you? - I smiled.

- I am well thank you for asking! Anyway I was about to invite you to go shopping but I guess that it will have to wait. You and Aaron? Really? I never thought!

- Alice there is nothing going on between us. – I rolled my eyes.

- Yeah right! After your date we are going shopping! End of discussion! - The school bell rang and everybody started getting to the first class of the day -Well I have got to go. See ya!

- Bye Alice! – She turned around and skipped gracefully in the main hall. She kissed Jasper in the cheek and waved goodbye. I smiled and nodded at them.

Alice was a really nice person. Always chirpy and happy and you just couldn´t hate her! As for Edward…my suspicions grew every day. I need to talk to Bella about him. Did he ever hurt her? Because if he did he would have to deal with me!

Today the time went by really quickly and before I knew it school was over. I was leaving school with Darcie and Roxy.

- You guys should have been there for me! You´re my backup and you just left me in the middle of my battlefield!

They both laughed at my exaggeration but Darcie felt sorry for me. As for Roxy she just said:

- Hey when it comes to Aaron, you are on your own! – She snickered.

- Do you guys wanna study together for the biology test? – I asked them. Our biology test was due for next Friday and I was pretty nervous.

- Yeah sure! My place!? – Darcie asked us and we nodded.

We said goodbye and they wished me again good luck for my date.

- And please don´t miss this one! – Roxy yelled and I think that everybody in school heard her.

- Roxy! – I blushed and grunted her name. Roxy laughed at my embarrassment and Darcie chuckled.

They left and I waited for Bella. She was going to drive me home. I waited a few minutes when Bella and Edward showed up. She smiled and hugged me.

- Hey! How was your day?

- Fine. Yours?

- Fine! – Bella turned around and kissed Edward. He held her tightly and kissed her again this time more forcefully. I rolled my eyes and tried to concentrate on something else. After five minutes of making out he let her go and said goodbye to us. I just nodded at him and whispered a goodbye.

Bella and I entered her truck and drove us home.

- So are you excited about?

- About what?

- Your date…with Aaron Langdon!? – She smiled and stared at me for a few moments before concentrating again on the road.

I gasped and I was pretty sure I was gaping like a dead fish.

- WHAT? How did you…Alice. – I grunted and looked at my window.

- Actually…everybody in school knows about you and Aaron.

My eyes widened and turned at her. What!? WHAT!?

- You have got to be kidding right? RIGHT? – I asked her but she didn´t respond me and sighed heavily.

- God I have never been so humiliated in my entire life! - I could feel my cheeks burn.

- Don´t worry!

- DON´T WORRY? – Bella chuckled at my minor breakdown and nodded her face a couple of times. I decided to be quiet for the rest of the ride. I was beginning to think that this date was not a good idea but I´ve made a promise and when I make a promise I always keep them.

We arrived home and I ran to my room to get ready. I decided to wear a blue navy bikini, a plain white t-shirt and a floral skirt. It was three o´clock. I still had one hour for my date with Aaron and since we were going to the beach I decided to take a walk on the First Beach alone. I always enjoyed the sea. It made me feel calmer.

I arrived at the First Beach and I immediately took off my sandals. The black cold sand touched my feet and I immediately relaxed at the sound of the waves. I dug my feet even deeper in the sand and closed my eyes taking small but deep breaths. A storm was coming but I didn´t mind a little rain. Suddenly I hear someone shouting my name. I turn around and I see Aaron already suited up for our surf lesson. I smiled.

- Hi Gwen. I thought you would dump me again! - he pouted and I laughed.

- I didn´t dump you!

- Yeah right! – He scoffed but laughed afterwards.

- Look, are we going to surf or are we going to stand here all day?

- Let´s go. - He grabbed my hand and I followed him to his car so we could put on my surf suit. We grabbed our boards and went to the cold stormy water.

It was not as easy as it looked! When I tried to take my first wave I fell! He just laughed and soon enough I was laughing with him. I tried a couple more waves and I actually surfed on one of them! We surfed for a good hour but the ocean was getting more and more dangerous so we decided to get out.

- So did you have fun?

- I did. Thank you so much for teaching me how to surf. You are a great teacher!

- Me? A great teacher? You were always falling off the surf board!

- Oh yeah you are right…you are a terrible teacher - I sarcastically said and he laughed. His phone ringed.

- It´s my football coach. I got to go I am late for practice. See you tomorrow. I had a great time! - He kissed me on the cheek and left. Oh my god he kissed me…on the cheek but still a kiss! I rested a hand on my tingling red cheek and I blushed.

I was so excited that I couldn't go home so I decided to take another walk on the beach. Before I knew it I could hear a loud thump and I could feel the earth moving. What the…? I could see a blur in the woods being chased by something big and strong. It looked like wolves…big wolves! The thumping stopped. I was preparing myself for the worst and my hands were glowing with energy ready to be released. Before I knew it my neck was held by a white cold hand. She was very beautiful. Her hair was red as blood and her eye were just like the eyes from my soon to be serial killer. She was holding me with so much strength that I couldn´t move, couldn´t run.

- You smell so good. You must be so….tasty! - What?! When she was about to pierce her fangs into my neck I burned her white stony hands and she hissed in pain. She looked puzzled at me and I looked startled. The redheaded vampire held my face but then her eyes widened when she saw my eyes. She studied my face and then she slightly smiled at me like we have known each other in another life.

I looked at her quizzically and when she was about to speak, three giant wolves showed up. They were huge! Their fur colour was different. The largest wolf was black as night, the second had brown fur and the third had grey fur. The third one was really angry. They looked at me in concern and growled at the vampire. She looked at me and caressed my cheek and then she ran. The wolves looked at me but they soon followed their prey.

I panicked. I went straight home, always running never looking back. I ran so fast that fifteen minutes later I was at Charlie's porch. I entered the house and went straight to my room. I locked myself and lay down on my bed. What the hell was that? I don't understand! That vampire…the wolves!? She stared at me in a weird manner like she knew who I was. I don't understand! And those giants wolves! Why were they chasing her?

I suddenly started thinking about Bella and the Cullen's. Oh no. I ran to my bicycle as fast as I could and drove to the Cullen's house, hoping Bella was still alive. I had to save her. I arrived at the Cullen's front door and knocked repeatedly. Alice greeted me with a smile and that only made me angrier. My energy was flowing throught the fingertips of my hands but I was trying to calm down. I didn´t want to roast Bella!

- Hello Gwen! Ready to go shopping?

- WHERE IS SHE? - I walked right in to the monsters' cave.

- Gwen what is going on? – Alice asked me worried.

- It is Gwendolyn not Gwen for you! Where is she? Where is Bella, Alice? - I spat to her. Before Alice could answer Bella showed up and looked at me. Everybody was there looking at me like I was some kind of lunatic.

- I am right here. What is going on? - I grabbed Bella's hand and led her outside.

- We have to go home, Bella.

- Why? Did something happen with Charlie?

- No. Charlie is fine but we have to get out of here. Like right now!

- Why? - I was losing it. Didn´t she know? I was trying not to throw a ball of fire at her ingenuity but I refrained myself. She doesn't know that I am a witch and I would like to keep it that way for a while.

- Because they are monsters Bella. VAMPIRES!

Everyone in the room was silent and staring at me. Bella's eyes were widened but she didn't seem surprised.

- How…how did you know? – Bella asked me and took Edward's hand for some kind of support. He looked at me but he immediately stared at Bella and smiled at her. Something clicked in my brain.

- YOU knew that they are vampires and you still hang out with them?

- Please Gwendolyn we can explain… - Edward spoke and rested a hand on my shoulder. I shoved his hand away and he hissed. His eyes widened but didn´t say a word. My hands were hot and I was breathing heavily. He frowned stared into my eyes. Like he was trying to understand the real me and that made me nervous.

- I don´t need any explanations especially from you Edward! From the moment I met you I felt that you were from another world and I was right!

- Please. I am begging you to let me explain myself. - Edward was so fragile right now. His face was contorted with sadness and pain. I have never seen someone in that state. Bella was at break of tears. I sighed and nodded.

- Ok fine…explain to me.

And so they did. They explained the first day they met. How they instantly fell in love for each other. They told me when Bella almost died and Edward brought her back to life. They told me how they were separated for so long because of what Jasper almost did to Bella. I shivered.

- This is the truth Gwendolyn. I love Bella more than anything in this world. If I could breathe she would be my air supply, if I could sleep she would my light stand watching me over.

I was shocked. Frozen.

- Bella I want to go home.

- Yes of course I will drive. - Bella was worried about me I could sense it. I felt so numb. There was nothing I could do to take off this feeling.

We entered in the car and drove. There was silence. No one talked. The minute we arrived home I went straight to my bedroom and fell asleep. I was too tired and shocked to even think about the day that I had.
