AN: Wow an update! Thanks everyone for the reviews. I tried to go for a certain style in this chapter to wrap it up a bit quicker so it may feel weird. Anyways, here you go
Soundtrack: 1-11 Despair Syndrome
...and all of a sudden, the lights had turned on.
A certain amount of time later...
"...Ugh, Meowykins, you have to stop doing this kind of shit to us," I sighed, getting up and rubbing my aching back. I looked around. A jail cell. Isn't that perfect? Except the walls are still made of glass, I suppose. It did a good job of looking like a jail cell though. Outside of the glass walls were slabs of concrete that probably did nothing more than to serve as decoration. I sighed, and looked around. Typical jail stuff. That's perfect too.
In the middle of the room? A goodie bag. You probably already know this. If I should ever get to skip to the exciting part, I have to give you some information first. It won't be long until what they want happens. Because it's going to happen soon. After I tell you this, we'll be in present time. But everything I say now will be in past time. I hope you don't mind a grueling essay of inner monologues and boring exposition?
My name is Keiko. You already knew that. But I'm not that Keiko that you knew. I'm someone else. Someone different. Someone better. I can't stay here long – that's not the point of why I'm talking to you now. Nope, there are things that these kids will figure out by themselves. I'm a kid too though, right? So it's not like I'm completely omitted. I'll have to figure out what's going on too. I don't even know what's up with Meowykins to be honest.
I remember walking out into the hallways. Now that was a fun time. I walked out to Unmei freaking out on me. She was walking around the hallways, trying to find the others, and wouldn't you know? She ran into me.
"What's up, Unmei?" I asked. I was still sane. I guess I'm still sane now – you're hearing this from inside my mind. It's like I'm trying to get my words across but it's hitting this glass wall. I want to leave so bad. Oh, looks like I'm going on a tangent again. My bad!
"K-Keiko? Are you okay..?" she asked.
"Hell, no," I responded. "Meowykins expects us to kill each other. I don't know why he doesn't just kill us right now."
"Don't encourage him!" she snapped. "C'mon...let's go find the others."
So we went on a long trip around this hell hole. Meowykins really outdid himself. This captures the mood of a battle royale arena perfectly..! If I only I could participate for real, but nope. Oh well.
"L-look! There's Noah!" I remember Unmei saying.
Noah looked at us, and he began to walk towards us, a katana in his hand.
"I got this weapon from the goodie bag supplied to us," Noah said. "You understand, right?"
And we did. We all got supplied these neat weapons that we'd use to kill each other. It was probably assigned by random. Unmei got a fucking dagger while Noah got a mother fucking katana. How is that fair? It's just luck – that has to be the answer. I got a shotgun though. That's pretty sick. The holes I could have put in them would have been one times six. Six holes scattered across their chests, blood spilling out onto the floor, and me, slip and sliding through their DNA. Now, doesn't that sound like a party? Oh, whoops. Another tangent. It's one of my fatal flaws.
"W-where's Mirai?" I asked. It was so immediate, me asking that question. I don't know why. Mirai's a fucking dumbass. I don't know how she was attracted to him in anyway. It's kind of sad, really. Oh well. Sucks to suck.
"He's here," Noah confirmed. "I saw him talking to Shougo."
"Has anyone seen Yoshinori..?" I asked. "Is she...still murderous?"
Of course she was.
"I haven't seen her," Noah said. "I assume you two just woke up."
"Yeah," Unmei said. "I left my cell and I was walking for a while. Then I came across Keiko."
"What is this place..?" I asked.
We were walking around the cesspool for a while. The three of us, defending ourselves from imminent doom! I'm not exactly sure what I was doing, following them. I mean, if we weren't going to kill, we'd die in a day. I would have loved to live, thank you very much. I could have done a lot more with my talent. But it's important to know the layout of this place, right? Before the rising action truly starts?
Location: Weapons Locker | Time: ? | Chapter Five | Who the hell cares?
The weapons locker was a pretty chill place. There were lots of weapons that were already taken. Probably for us. Six of them were gone, but they didn't exactly look like weapons we'd use. Oh well. Since when was practicality an issue for the stuffed animals? Answer: it wasn't. They were all locked up though. Shame.
Location: Testing Room | Time: ? | Chapter Five | I sure as hell don't care.
A testing facility. It was a place covered in concrete. There were tiny holes where you could see the glass supporting the concrete (glass...supporting concrete? Never mind.) There were bullet holes along the side. This room was used before, knowing Meowykins and Monokuma. Creepy. I like that.
Location: Ruins | Time: ? | Chapter Five | It's coming...
A locked door. A math problem on the front. A pincode to the side. Boring!
Location: Blah blah blah | Time: Blah blah blah | Chapter Five | Blah blah blah.
Ugh. I'm getting bored.
Location: Let's hurry it up. | Time: When am I going to faint? | Chapter Five | So boring...
So bored..!
Location: Mirai's Cell | Time: snore | Chapter Five | snoring intensifies
And now we've caught up to the present. There. Aren't you glad I saved you ten pages of boring exposition..? Bye-bye now! It's about time something exciting happens!
Soundtrack: Beautiful Dead
...He's not here, either.
"Hey, Noah, you said he was walking with Shougo, right..?" I asked.
"That's correct," Noah said. "They seemed like they were talking about something urgent."
"More urgent than what's happening now?" Unmei asked. "If we don't kill, we're all dead. You understand that, right?"
"So what do you expect us to do?" Noah sighed.
I looked at my Monokuma File. My balance was at five, like normal. I haven't done anything to raise that higher, nor do I plan on doing anything like that. Information, food, water, first aid, and a weapon. I didn't have any need for any of that. It's best if I saved it. I was thinking of buying information for Mirai's sake, but he already probably found out by himself. I can't wait to see what he has to say. If...we survive, at least.
"Are you going to buy anything?" I asked Noah.
"I'm getting a bit hungry," Noah admitted. "Perhaps I should buy some food..."
"I just want to get out of here," Unmei sighed. "My stomach can wait, for real."
…
And so Noah ordered food, and we sat in a circle, in front of Mirai's cell. I wonder if we were just waiting for his return? Noah pressed the order button, and Meowykins walked to us, hands filled with platters of disgusting looking food (it was actually delicious), shaking his head in contempt of our lack of malice.
"Should we just wait here and die?" Unmei asked. "It's either Yoshinori finds and kills us, or the timer runs out and Meowykins gets the right to punish us, or whatever."
"I don't want to kill," I said. "But is it really okay to do nothing..?"
"...We should focus on finding the others first," Noah said. "That should be our top priority."
Music Halts
"You guys..?"
We turned around, and saw Shougo, standing right in front of us. He was sweating – his face totally red, and he looked troubled. Not just troubled – he was frightened.
"It's -"
And before he could explain, a loud crash.
"Quick, whatever! Go to the testing room!"
Soundtrack: Tropical Despair
And now, I'm the one talking in past tense. Don't worry, it's not my crazy side. I think it's better that I explain like this anyways. As we ran to the testing room, a lot of crazy stuff happened that would be stupid to try and explain it in real time.
"A-ah!" Unmei screamed. Gunshots from inside the testing room.
"What's going on?!" Noah yelled.
"G-guys, hurry..!" Shougo screamed. The doors were shut, I remember clearly. And as soon as we opened them, the lights turned black. Dark...completely dark.
And I couldn't hear anyone anymore. My ears were ringing. Was it that they couldn't hear me? Or that they couldn't talk? Either way...
"G-get the fuck away from me!" yelled a robotic voice.
...Am I moving?
"Ow!" Unmei screamed."
"W-what are you doing..?!"
...My hand..?
It's...
…
…
…
It was a nightmare. A complete nightmare. A nightmare that I have to explain to you like this.
*splash!*
SPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!
Crash!
Ahh!
...My body is being covered in water...what's going on?
I wanted to explain to you this part of the story like this, because what's about to happen next...I wasn't going to go into it to deeply. There's nothing to explain. We haven't heard from Yoshinori, or Mirai, or anyone.
When I woke up, it was in the banquet room. I was soaking wet. Everyone was around me. They patted me awake, and they walked me over to someone. At least...he used to be someone. It was a corpse. Over the loudspeakers, I could hear a loud "upupupu!" ring throughout. Upupupu? Monokuma was gone though! That's what I thought.
I was extremely shocked. Horrified. Helpless. I was screaming and crying – sobbing that it wasn't true. But the position we're in...things like that happen.
Soundtrack: Hope's Breaking Noise
Mirai lay there, helpless. Dead.
