Chapter 6! Enjoy! :D
"Alright guys, let's get down to business-but first, let's welcome back Noah Puckerman!"
A few members clapped.
"How was your time in juvie?" Rachel asked him. Puck flexed his arms and kissed his biceps, causing her to groan. "Could you not?"
"Sorry girl," he said. "I was a badass in juvie. Best time of my life in there."
Mr. Schuester smiled. "Really?"
"Are you kidding me? I ruled that place," Puck said. "All I did all day was lift weights and crack skulls."
"Wow, what a catch. I'm lucky I never let you go," Quinn said sarcastically. Puck scoffed and took her hand.
"Thanks for the support," he said it sharply but smiled nonetheless.
"Now, drum roll, Finn!" Mr. Schuester announced. He held up a piece of paper as Finn drummed on his textbook. "I have here, in my hand, our competition for Sectionals next month."
Everyone began to cheer.
"First up is the acapella choir group from the all boys' private school in Westerville, the Dalton Academy Warblers."
Rachel turned to Anne. "Isn't that the school your brother goes to?"
Anne nodded. "Yeah, the Warblers are like..."
"Like rockstars?" Rachel added.
Kurt's eyebrows shot up.
"Wait, hold up," Santana quipped. "Like, a million gay jokes just popped into my head." She looked at Kurt and he rolled his eyes.
"And the other team to beat, The Hipsters, a first-year club from the Warren Township Continuing Education Program. Now, they are a glee club composed entirely of elderly people getting their high school GEDs."
"What? Is that even legal?" Rachel questioned.
"How are we supposed to compete with a bunch of cute old people?" Mercedes asked.
"Are you kidding?" Puck responded. "Brittle bones. Give one of those old ladies a pat on the rear and they'll break their pelvis."
"Okay, okay," Mr. Schuester intercepted. "Since it seemed to get you guys jazzed about Sectionals last year, we're going to do another boys vs. girls competition."
The girls clapped while the guys hollered.
"Split up into two groups and decide what songs you're going to sing."
"Alright, girls," Rachel said. "I have a list of emergency mash-ups that we can pull from."
"Any idea of what songs you girl's are going to sing?" Sam asked Anne as he jogged a bit to catch up with her.
Anne smiled and shook her head. "Are you trying to spy on us, Mr. Evans?"
"No, no. I'm just curious, is all."
"Well, we've decided but no, I'm not going to tell you."
He frowned a bit. "Oh, come on!"
"Nope. My lips are sealed," she said, laughing slightly as she felt him grab her hip and turning her back in the direction of a wall. Their bodies were close together; so close she could feel his body heat radiating.
Sam smiled playfully, looking straight into her gray eyes. "I'd like to find out what else your lips are keeping from me," he said huskily.
Anne blushed. She saw his gaze shift downward to her mouth and she felt him begin to lean in. Coyly, she turned her head so his lips made contact with only her cheek.
Sam pulled away, his surprise a bit obvious on his face. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Anne shrugged away from him. "Nothing, sorry. I've just got to get to class."
The bell rang and Sam blinked as Anne began to walk away. Since their relationship began, she hadn't kissed him once. There was a small pit of worry beginning to form in his stomach, one he couldn't ignore anymore. Something was up with her-why else wouldn't she kiss him or let him kiss her?
"Why don't you go visit the garglers instead?"
Puck's insensitive suggestion on top of the bullying Kurt was receiving from Karofsky was what prompted him to travel to Dalton Academy in the first place.
He had half-assed looked into how the uniforms were and tried his best to match one of his blazers to what the pictures on the internet looked like. It was a lame attempt but he had to try to blend in. The last thing Kurt needed was to be called out in the masses of another school.
So far the place had looked pretty shabby. Wooden furnishes adorned every nook and cranny that Kurt's eyes could take in. He was traveling down the grand staircase when a bell sounded and masses of blue and red blazers traveled the steps and the hallways.
"Excuse me," Kurt projected. One boy turned around slowly.
"Um, hi, can I ask you a question? I'm new here."
"My name's Blaine," the boy said, outstretching his hand. Kurt shook it and nodded.
"Kurt." He let out a breath. "So what exactly is going on?"
"The Warblers. Every now and then they throw and impromptu performance in the senior commons," Blaine explained. "It tends to shut down the school for a while."
"Wait, so the glee club here is kind of cool?"
Blaine smiled. "The Warblers are like rockstars."
Wow. Rachel was right about that. Kurt thought.
"Come on, I know a shortcut," Blaine said, taking Kurt's hand. Kurt opened his mouth but had nothing to say. No boy had ever grabbed a hold of his hand like that and he had to admit, the sensation was kind of pleasant.
Hold up, boy. He's probably straight as a ruler.
They ran through and empty hallway and in a matter of a minute, they arrived in a room full of more boys in matching blazers.
"I stick out like a sore thumb," Kurt said.
"Well, next time don't forget your jacket, new kid," Blaine said, shaking his head in amusement. "You'll fit right in."
Some voices began to harmonize in the background. "Now if you'll excuse me," Blaine said, throwing his bag down.
Before you met me, I was alright
But things were kind of heavy, you brought me to life
Now every February, you'll be my Valentine, Valentine
"What do I do?" Sam asked Finn.
Finn shook his head. "I think you're asking to wrong guy, dude."
"You had a girlfriend once, right? I mean, I just don't get it. We're going out and it's great-she's great-but every time I try to kiss her she gets shy and moves away."
"I don't know man, I mean, the last girl I liked dropped me for another guy. Not to mention one of my girlfriend's ended up lying to me about being pregnant with my kid..." Finn shook his head. "Sorry, offtrack."
Sam waited, throwing his hands up.
"I don't know, Sam. Just...Be her hero. Romantic. Sweet. She seems like she's the kind of girl who likes that stuff."
The blonde blinked. "Romantic stuff, huh?"
Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance until we die
You and I will be young forever
You make me feel like I'm living a teenage dream
The way you turn me on, I can't sleep
Let's run away and don't ever look back
Don't ever look back
Kurt watched as the Warblers kept singing and dancing. Those who weren't participating must've been students. Nevertheless, they looked like they actually appreciated the glee club here. That was something that he couldn't even dream of happening at McKinley.
Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance until we die
You and I will be young forever
"Hey, can you come with me for a moment?" Sam asked, his hands on Anne's waist. Her back was facing him.
Anne shut her locker and turned halfway. "Sure."
Sam smiled, taking her hand and leading her to the destination.
You make me feel like I'm living a teenage dream
The way you turn me on, I can't sleep
Let's run away and don't ever look back
Don't ever look back
The auditorium was pitch black aside from the glow of various candles in a circle on the glossy stage floor. There was a blanket, pillows, and a basket.
"Sam..." Anne said softly, astonished. "What is all this?"
"I thought you deserved a nice, quiet lunch with your boyfriend," he said, smiling. "And well, I thought romance would add a nice touch."
She smiled and he gestured for her to sit down.
I'm a get your heart racing in my skin tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Let you put your hands on me in my skin tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Rachel threw her keys on the kitchen table. She had a longer lunch considering she had a free period right after the meal time. Like many things, she was a habitual creature when it came to meal venues-instead of going to some fast food place, she always ate at home now that she could drive.
There was something pink that caught her line of vision and she smiled. There was a bouquet of peonies on her kitchen island. She picked up the card next to it and smiled brighter.
Thinking of you always, Rach. -J
You make me feel like I'm living a teenage dream
The way you turn me on, I can't sleep
Let's run away and don't ever look back
Don't ever look back
"This is amazing," Anne said. "You didn't have to do all of this just to get me to kiss you."
"Who said that's why I did it?"
Anne gave him a look and he sighed.
"I'll admit, it was one of the reasons but," he shook his head. "You deserve this."
He placed his water down and took hers out of her grasp. "I've never exactly felt like this before."
"Like what?" Anne asked softly.
"Like there's nothing I believe in more than this relationship."
She let out a breath. "I'm sorry I've been kind of prudish lately."
"Don't-"
"Let me finish, please."
He bit his lip.
"I've never been kissed before, that's why I'm so shy and scared. I didn't want it to be bad."
My heart stops when you look at me
Just one touch, now baby I believe
This is real, so take a chance
And don't ever look back, don't ever look back
"That's why?" he asked, relieved.
"What else would it be?" Anne responded. "It's obvious I like you."
Sam smiled. "Kissing you... I don't imagine it being bad."
She closed her eyes, sighing. He closed his as well and leaned his forward against hers.
"It wouldn't be bad at all."
I'm a get your heart racing in my skin tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Anne felt Sam's breath span her face. She could feel her heart beating inside her chest. It was like a hummingbird's wings that fluttered endlessly.
His hand caressed neck and in a single second, he closed the distance, placing his full lips on hers. There was a tingling sensation followed by a warm feeling that filled her from the inside.
After a few seconds, he pulled away. "There, not bad at all."
She was smiling like an idiot. No, it wasn't bad at all.
Let you put your hands on me in my skin tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
As the song finished, Kurt clapped enthusiastically. For a single moment he could see himself attending Dalton. See himself being happy. Free.
Blaine gave him a friendly smile and Kurt smiled back. Yes, for this second, Kurt could definitely see himself here.
"Latte?" Blaine asked, sliding Kurt a Styrofoam coffee cup. "This is Wes and David."
"It's nice of you to invite me for coffee before you beat me up," Kurt said sourly.
One of the guys shook his head. "We are not going to beat you up."
"You were such a terrible spy, we thought it was sort of endearing."
Blaine took a sip of his coffee. "Which made me thing that spying on us wasn't really the reason you came."
Kurt scoffed slightly. "Can I ask you guys a question?"
Silence.
"Are you guys all gay?"
All three chuckled lightly. "No, well, I am. But these guys have girlfriends," Blaine said.
"This is not a gay school," one of them said. "We have a zero-tolerance harassment policy."
"Everybody gets treated the same, no matter what they are," the other said. "It's pretty simple."
Something overcame Kurt in that moment. It was unexplainable. It was a realization hitting a brick wall of hope. Everything about Kurt's world seemed dark and wrong-here, in this place, there seemed to be a glimmer of light and hope.
Blaine seemed to notice Kurt's impending breakdown because he sent the other two away, leaving just Kurt and himself.
"I take it you're having trouble at school?" Blaine guessed.
"I'm the only person out of the closet," Kurt explained. "And I tried to stay strong about it but there's this neanderthal that's made it his life mission to make mine Hell. And nobody seems to notice," his voice cracked at the end and he shook his head.
No one noticed how hard each day was for Kurt. How difficult it was to walk through those hallways. To get shoved around. To get picked on.
"I know how you feel," Blaine said. "I got taunted at my old school and it really pissed me off."
There was a small pause.
"I left. I came here to get away from all the assholes in my life. And it worked," he looked at Kurt. "But I ran away, Kurt. I was too scared to stand up for myself and I ran away."
"So what do I do?" Kurt asked.
"There's two options here," Blaine said. "You can either run away or you can stand up."
Kurt cleared his throat. "And if I can't stand up? If I can't change anything?"
Blaine sighed. "Dalton is always available with open arms."
Don't forget to drop a review! Love you guys!
