Chapter 8

Thunderstruck

"His highness, oh his poor highness. I hope he's doing alright." Gunter mumbled to himself.

Gunter has been standing on the deck of the ship since they set sail, and has been only mentioning his highness in every sentence. Conrart could tell that Gunter was worried about his highness Yuri, it was plainly obvious, however, his worrying would have to wait until they found Wolfram. Wolfram was out there with his highness Saralegui and he could end up being captured next so they had to find him first before he did anything stupid.

Wolfram

What was he thinking going out there on his own. He may be accompanied by Saralegui and Berius, but he does everything on his own anyways, so those two may as well be a last thought. Wolfram is driven with determination to find Yuri, so he'll do anything he can to find him. That's why he's a fool. He's working on raw emotion. That alone will be his downfall.

Conrart looked up at the gray skies above, large storm clouds were gathering, He could see small cracks of lightning accumulating. A storm was brewing on the coastline. It was going to be a big one too. Conrart didn't like the looks of it. If the storm were to start before they reached the mainlands, they would be caught in it, it would very dangerous.

"Gunter, we should head inside." Conrart suggested.

Gunter raised his head and looked up at the sky above. He as well could see the accumulating storm system that was slowly approaching. He held back his hair as he observed the skies for another moment.

"I wasn't expecting a storm." Gunter commented.

"Yes, it seems that we were all caught off guard by it. We must get inside and seek shelter and hope its not as bad as it looks." Conrart responded.

Gunter took a deep breath and moved away from the railings. "I see, then we should do just that."

Gunter and Conrart took one last look at the sky above before heading inside. If it was heading towards them, then that means that storm has already landed in the mainland.

Rain pitter pattered on the dirt below Saralegui's feet, he has been searching nonstop for his blonde companion but has yet to locate him. He was getting worried. He has been wandering around in a storm, in the woods for what seems like hours. He could be struck by lightning if he wasn't careful, but he was stuck looking for Wolfram's sorry ass.

Saralegui stopped in his tracks, another flash of lightning was seen in the distance. He had to find Wolfram. Just where did he go off to. He flipped his hair out of his face, it was wet and heavy now thanks to the rain, but he didn't take much notice to it. He has even removed his glasses because they were doing nothing to help his vision. However, he did have a harder time controlling his power.

"Just where are you, Lord Bielefeld?" Saralegui mumbled to himself.

He continued his trek through the woods, he was getting more and more worried. The image of Wolfram being taken away by those goons ran through his mind. His heart began to beat faster in his chest. He mentally cursed his luck. He can't lose Wolfram to those goons. Yuri would never forgive him if he found out that it was his fault that his fiance was being held captive. He couldn't let that happen. He refuses to believe that Wolfram was captured so early on in the search.

He stopped once again. He looked over at tree in front of him, it was faint but he saw a soft scorch mark on the bark. Demon flames. It must have been Wolfram trying to fight back against the enemy. Saralegui placed his hand against the bark, over the burn, it was still warm. Wolfram wasn't taken that long ago, perhaps almost 3 hours ago. Saralegui clenched his fingers into his palm, his nails digging into his skin.

"This is unacceptable. For him to be taken away without my knowledge. Its unforgivable." Saralegui clenched his jaw and use his already clenched fist to pound the bark with his fist. He was angry. He was furious. He was upset that he couldn't protect him. "Bastards. You'll pay for this."

"Your highness," Saralegui looked over to his right. He heard his name being called. It sounded familiar. It must be- "You're alright. Thank goodness."

"Berius, what happened to you?" Saralegui asked with worry.

He saw the enormous amount of scratches and wounds on his body. The stench of blood on him was strong, but the rain water seems to have washed some of it away.

"It turns out the sound was a spy for the enemy. We fought and he somehow was able to get the upperhand and defeat me. Its an embarrassment that I was so easily defeated." Berius explained.

"An enemy? So then, that must mean that-!" Saralegui narrowed his eyes and clenched his jaw. The same spy that defeated Berius, must have taken Wolfram as well. If not, it was an accomplice of his. He couldn't believe this. So much wrong has happened in this short frame of time since they left to find Yuri and Saralegui was almost positive that they were close to finding his location or even clues, but the enemy has had the upper hand the entire time. "We must be going."

"Where to your majesty?" Berius asked.

"We must go back to the ship at once and send out our fastest dove. We have to warn the others about Wolfram's predicament." Saralegui said.

Berius nodded to his highness. He knew that while Saralegui was busy sending out the dove, he would have to get bandaged up if he wanted to be of any help to his majesty Saralegui.

"Right away." Berius obeyed.

Loud crashes of thunder and bright sparks of lightning could be heard from the large empty space Yuri was contained in. He has been struggling and shouting for Belar for hours, but stopped not that long ago because his throat was beginning to ache. His wrists were painfully cut from all of the struggling of the chains, and his back was hurting as well.

But, he wanted to keep fighting. He had to escape, but he had no idea what else he could do. He was extremely weak now because of the collar around his neck zapping all of his energy. He was completely defenseless and had no other way of escape.

He clenched his jaw and his fists. This sucks. He needed to get out of here so that he could stop Belar and get back to Wolfram and the others, but instead he's stuck here in who knows where. He didn't know what more he could do.

The sound of a door opening brought Yuri back to reality. He raised his head and looked up and around.

"We've returned with the captive." One voice said.

""What would you like us to do with him?" Another voice asked.

"Wonderful. Give him to me." Belar's annoying voice commanded.

Yuri clenched his jaw even tighter as he listened in on the conversation. Who was it that they caught this time? Yuri could only imagine and was afraid to find out who.

"Let go of me."

"Quiet brat."

Yuri's eyes widened and his heart sank at the voice of their new guest. His eyes narrowed with rage. He watched as Wolfram was pushed inside by Belar. He glared at the ex king of Big Cimaron.

"You'll never get away with this old man." Wolfram shouted.

Belar raised a hand and it quickly came down on Wolfram's face, it was hard enough that the sound of the slap could be heard off of the walls. Yuri watched as Wolfram fell to the floor.

"Wolfram." Yuri shouted.

Wolfram sat up as best as he could, his arms were tied to his sides by powerful chains infused with esoteric stones. As he stood up, he looked up too late as Belar's fist came ramming into his face once again. He cried out and fell to the floor again, a small bit of blood rolling down from his mouth. He must have busted his lip from that attack.

Yuri was just struggling against his chains once again. He couldn't watch this. He couldn't watch as his friend was attack again and again right before his eyes.

"Leave him alone." Yuri shouted. He growled at Belar who grinned at him. "I swear to god if you touch him one more time, I will kill you."

"Kill me." Belar shook his head and raised his hands at his sides. "Now how can you possibly do that when you're chained down to that chair with your energy being zapped from you. You're weak now Maou."

"Y-Yuri, don't worry about me." Wolfram moaned as he sat up enough to look at his fiance. "He wants you to get angry. Don't give in."

"Shut up you stupid brat." Belar shouted. He brought his foot down onto Wolfram's back. Said blonde cried out again at the force. Belar continued his assault on the blonde's back and even going to his legs. Yuri was forced to watch the entire ordeal with his own eyes. He didn't want to watch this.

"Stop it." Yuri muttered. Wolfram looked at his fiance with one eye squinted from pain. "Stop it."

"Yuri, calm down you wimp." Wolfram said. "I can handle myself. So quit it."

Belar slammed his foot down onto Wolfram's head, his dirty shoe messing up Wolfram's beautiful golden locks. Wolfram grinded his teeth and clenched his fists as he tried to hold in his painful cries. He had to endure it. He had to endure it for Yuri.

"Endure it, you wimp." Wolfram mumbled.

"Quiet." Belar kicked Wolfram in the back of the head. Wolfram gasped and fell face first onto the floor. He stayed absolutely still. He was full of so much pain. "I've had enough out of you. Guards," The two men who brought Wolfram in came running in. "Bring our guest a chair, we should chain him down as well."

"Yessir." They said.

As they ran off to fetch an appropriate chair, Belar glared down at the blonde under his foot. "We're going to have some more fun with you, Lord Bielefeld."

"Don't you dare touch him." Yuri growled.

"Now now Maou, I've heard enough out of you." Belar shouted.

Yuri began to scream as high voltages of electricity began to run through him thanks to the esoteric stones. He felt his body getting heavy, his energy was leaving him. Just like before.

"Yuri." Wolfram cired.

"I-I'm f-fine." Yuri stuttered. Yuri took deep breaths as the shocking stopped. Sweat rolled down his neck and the side of his face. He was exhausted. "Dammit." He took a few more deep breaths. His heart was beating like crazy. "That hurt."

As Yuri recovered, the guards brought in the chair that Belar had requested. Belar grabbed Wolfram by the hair and dragged him over towards it. Wolfram bit his lip. His grip was extremely tight. He felt as if his hair was going to be ripped out. Yuri gasped harshly as he was thrown into the chair, his back made contact with the hard metal chair, it hurt like hell.

"Now stay still you brat." Belar growled.

Wolfram felt his ropes being chained down with a pair of handcuffs. He kicked his legs to try and get free but it was no use. He was stuck.

"Yuri, pull yourself together. We'll get through this." Wolfram said.

Yuri raised his head and looked at Wolfram, he looked over every visible bruise and mark on him. His cheek was swollen a bit from being punched, his lip was busted open and a bit of dried up blood was on the side of mouth, his blonde hair was now dirty thanks to Belar's foot, and a few scratches were visible on his legs from what he could see, but there were no doubt more hidden under his clothes.

"Are you alright Wolfram?" Yuri asked.

Wolfram nodded. "Yeah. I'm fine. How about you?"

"I've been better but not dead, so I'm doing good." Yuri replied. He bit his lip "I'm gonna get you out of here, Wolfram. I promise."

"What do you mean by that? We're getting out of here together." Wolfram shot back.

"Dammit listen to me. You have to get out of here. If you're stuck here too, I'll never be able to forgive myself if you're hurt even worse than you are now."

Wolfram's eyes widened with surprise. He just stared at Yuri. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Yuri-he cared about him that much that he would take all of the damage for him.

"Yuri," Wolfram clenched his fists. "You idiot. If you take all the damage for me, you'll make me look like a wimp, you wimp."

"How am I a wimp if I'm offering to take all of your hits." Yuri shot back.

"You're a wimp because you're making me look weak and since we're engaged whatever idiotic thing you do, it makes me look just as bad." Wolfram shouted.

"Wolfram this is not the time for that. I can't have you getting hurt any longer." Yuri shouted back. Yuri glared at Wolfram. "If you get hurt again because of me, I don't know what I'll do dammit. You're my friend. I hate seeing my friends get hurt."

Wolfram was at a loss for words. He didn't know what to say to that. He thought Yuri was being incredibly stupid and selfish, but then again, he was doing it all for him.

He bowed his head. He felt a whole wave of different emotions running through him. Anger, relief, annoyance, happiness, how could he feel all of these different emotions at once.

"Snap out of it punk, no day dreaming."

Wolfram let out a scream of bloody murder as his whole body was shocked by the esoteric stones, just like when he watched Yuri get struck by them, this was just the same, and it hurt, like every once of energy was being torn from his soul. He could Yuri calling out to him, it was faint, but he could hear it. He didn't know what was happening. He didn't know when the shocking would end.

"Stop it Belar." Yuri shouted.

"Stop eh," Wolfram felt his whole body collapse as the shocking stopped. He took multiple breaths. He felt as if his lungs were being crushed. "Well then, since I released him, you receive punishment."

Wolfram's head shot up at those words, he looked over in Yuri's direction as he clenched his fingers around his chains to keep from crying out. Wolfram watched in horror as his fiance was being shocked by the stones for his sake. He closed his eyes and looked away. He couldn't watch. He bit his lip.

What kind of hell is this?

"Yuri." Wolfram cried.

By the time they made it back to the boat, the storm was beginning to lighten. Saralegui got back on board of his ship and immediately left to his quarters to get a messenger dove sent out. He had to get one out to both Conrart and Gwendal.

He sat down at his desk near the window. He pulled out some slips of paper and began to write his message down on both sheets. After he finished writing them down, he took hold of the first dove that rested on the desk and placed the first note in its pouch.

"Take this to Conrart Wheller. Its urgent." Saralegui ordered.

The dove immediately flew out of the window and off to its requested destination. Saralegui then placed the second message inside the second doves pouch and sent it off to Gwendal. Once that was over he sat back in his seat.

"Now that that is settled, its time to go and check on Berius. We must be ready to head back out as soon as possible."

Saralegui stood up from his desk and looked out the window. He walked closer towards it, his yellow eyes squinting to get a good look at what it was he was looking at. He saw a boat in the distance, it was a large vessel.

"What is the meaning of this? Did they actually get here that quickly?"

Saralegui quickly left his chambers and headed for the deck of his boat, when he got there, he saw Conrart standing on the deck of the boat that Saralegui had seen moments before.

"Your highness, I got your message." The boat slowly pulled into the docks beside his own boat. "Is what you said true?"

Saralegui get his features fall. "Yes, it is. I apologize."

Conrart sighed. "I see. Then we must do everything we can to find him as well as his highness Yuri."

"So, you aren't mad about me losing your brother?" Saralegui asked. He was confused.

"I am distraught that my little brother is being held, however, I can tell you did not mean to lose him, so all is forgiven." Conrart responded.

Saralegui nodded. "I promise we will find both of them, safe and sound, you can count on me."

Conrart nodded to his highness. "Then let us get going."

"Very well, but we must wait for Berius to finish putting on his bandages." Saralegui replied.

"What happened to Berius?" Conrart asked.

"Let's go and see him, shall we?"

Yuri grunted in pain as the guard slammed his knee into his gut. This beating his been going on for almost an hour. He had expected to take all of the damage, but the other guard was summoned as quickly as the first and he started punishing Wolfram for who knows what.

"His Majesty will be most pleased at the damage we do to you punks."

Yuri clenched his jaw for what seemed like the millionth time today. His body was in complete pain, he has been receiving beating after beating today. He did not understand what was going on in Belar's head. Was this his form of revenge for having him removed from the throne? If so, it was being heard loud and clear.

But he wasn't going to break that easily.

"You can beat me...a hundred times, but remember," Yuri spit some blood from his mouth. "I'm not going to break, ever."

"So, you think talking shit is gonna help. Think again."

A punch was thrown, and then another and another, Yuri was being used as their own personal punching bag. He knew this. But he was going to stay strong.

He had to stay strong for Wolfram.

A splash of blood flew into Yuri's vision, his eyes widened greatly. He shakily looked over towards Wolfram, he saw the blood dripping from the blonde's head and cheek. He had been cut.

Yuri felt his anger skyrocketing. Wolfram. Yuri couldn't believe they gave Wolfram a permanent scar. Yuri always believed that Wolfram was way better looking than he was, so he always tried to stay away from the blonde's face because it was absolutely gorgeous, so to see someone to blemish it like that. To see his fiance get hurt like that before his very eyes, he didn't like it at all.

"How dare you hurt him like that?" Yuri shouted. He could feel whatever magical energy he had left in his body begin to radiate off of him. He was pissed off. "To hurt the innocent and to leave them with a permanent mark of it, is unforgivable. You evildoers shall all pay for this."

Wolfram struggled against the chains. "Yuri, snap out of it."

Yuri's eyes began to change from his large innocent orbs, to sharp and demonic His hair started to grow longer. He was changing into the demon king. Which was bad news.

"Fool, did you honestly think I would let you go demon king on me. Think again."

The esoteric voltage began to go through Yuri's being once again, this time it was even more more powerful. The demon king bit his lip as he held in his pain. Esoteric stones were a strong weakness against his power, especially in this form since all of his energy goes into this form and only for so long.

The voltage went up even higher.

The demon king could not hold it any longer, his screams of pain could be heard loud and clear. Belar was enjoying every moment of it from his own safe haven. However, Wolfram was forced to watch, his whole body felt numb.

"Yuri." Wolfram cried.

The shock from the stones had stopped, Yuri had returned back to his usual form and he has collapses against the chair. He had no energy left. He was completely wiped out.

Wolfram struggled even harder now. "No, let me heal him dammit."

"The Maou has been completely defeated. Its delicious."

Wolfram stared up at the ceiling, anywhere, his eyes completely glazed over with rage and anger. "Let me go. I have to heal Yuri."

"Fool, like I would let you do that."

"I have to heal him, I have to save him. He'll die if I don't." Wolfram cried.

Nothing but silence for a moment. Wolfram just stared at the ceiling. He knew Belar could see him. That bastard was probably laughing at him.

"Then let him die. He's better off that way anyways."

Wolfram felt his whole being crack at the statement. Yuri. They were going to leave him for head. He looked back at the Maou. His chest still rose and fell, but just barely. He needs his help. But he can't while he's like this.

"Let me go you son of a bitch."

"Tsk. Tsk. What a foul mouth. Guards send him away."

Wolfram struggled against the guards who lifted his chair and began to carrying him out of the room. He had to get free. Yuri. He needs him. Yuri.

"Yuri." Wolfram cried one last time.

But he knew it was pointless. Yuri couldn't hear him and he won't be able to do anything to help. He has been completely annihilated.
