Here's another theme from me! It was supposed to be a different story with a different pairing, but having these two grown teens taking care of a kitten is ADORABLE!

Also, on April 11th, it's my birthday :D Gonna get Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (Shulk FTW!) and a Fennekin doll which I will name Vixen (like my Vixen in my XY Adventures fanfic X3). Wish me a Happy Birthday if ya like X3

Anyway… ENJOY!

26. Kitten

"Marth! You've got to look at this!"

Marth was snapped out of his daydreaming when he saw Roy staring down at the river, holding something in his arms.

"What is it, Roy?" He asked, getting up from where he was sitting and rushed to the boy.

Roy turned, and in his arms was a small, orange kitten. Its fur was wet, and it was shaking. There was some blood on its head, and a scratch on its head.

"Is that… a kitten?" Marth asked.

Roy nodded. "It was drowning in the river and hit its head on a rock." He explained, petting the small kitten to calm it down.

"You don't think… we could keep it, right?" Marth asked.

"I don't know. I don't think my father would appreciate it, but I can't just leave it injured like this…" Roy said. The kitten mewed, looking up at the blue-haired prince.

"Well… I should ask one of the healers to take care of the wound it sustained." Marth said.

"Good idea." Roy agreed, "Let's go back to the castle."

One of Roy's healers healed the kitten's wound on its head, and she explained to the two that they should give it medicine. As Roy brought the kitten back in his bedroom, Marth was waiting for him.

"How was it? It's not serious, is it?" Marth asked, looking over the baby animal.

"Its wound is healing, but we need to give it medicine so it won't get infected." Roy explained.

Marth nodded.

The kitten mewed loudly, and it tried to struggle from Roy's grip. "Hey, easy there…" Roy whispered gently. He placed the kitten down, and it rushed straight under his bed.

"Kitty, it's all right…" Roy whispered, kneeling on the ground, looking under the bed. All he could see was a pair of green eyes in the dark.

"Come here… it's okay…" Roy spoke in a soft voice, trying to coax it out, but the kitten refused.

"I'll get some food for it. Perhaps that could help?" Marth asked.

Roy nodded. "Good idea. I'll watch over it."

Marth walked out of the room to get to the dining room. He found some fish, and he walked back.

"Kitty…" He whispered, placing the fish down. "Food."

Upon seeing the fish, the kitten cautiously revealed itself from under the bed, watching the two. Neither Marth nor Roy moved, afraid that they might scare it away with their sudden movements.

The furry animal approached the fish, and it began to eat. The two males smiled.

"It's eating the fish." Roy whispered.

Marth watched the kitten. Its meows, the way that it eats… it was too cute to the young prince. Kind of like Roy…

Roy. Lately, he grew to like the boy more than just a friend. In fact, when they were both taking care of this kitten, he grew to like him more.

The kitten finished its meal, and it looked up at Marth. Approaching him, it rubbed itself on his knee, purring.

Roy chuckled. "I think it likes you." He commented.

Marth smiled. He carefully picked up the kitten and held it in his arms. The kitten mewed slightly, looking up at him.

"It's so cute!" Marth gasped, holding it close. The kitten meowed, bopping its head under Marth's chin.

Roy smiled.

A few days later, the two friends took care of the kitten, watching over it. They played with it with a small string, and they took turns feeding it wet cat food. They took care of its wound on the head by feeding it medicine, and it was healed up, leaving a small scar behind.

When the two took it with them for a small walk, they heard small mews in the forest.

"Did you hear that?" Marth asked, looking around.

Roy nodded. "I do. Are there other kittens nearby?"

The kitten in Marth's arms began to squirm.

"Hey, it's okay…" Marth assured it.

Roy glanced around the forest, following the sounds. When he heard the meowing behind some bushes, he pushed them away…

To see a mother cat nursing four small kittens, around the same size and the same color as their kitten.

"Marth, look." Roy whispered.

Marth took a look, and he saw the kittens, along with the cat. The kitten squirmed out of Marth's grip, and it rushed to the cat. The cat stared down at the kitten, and it smelled it, checking its scent. It then licked its head. The kitten then began nursing.

"That… must be its mother." Marth figured.

Roy smiled. "I'm glad we found its family."

When they left, Marth felt his heart break. He grew close to the kitten, and it hurt him that he had to leave it behind.

"Marth?" Marth snapped out of his thoughts and turned to Roy. "Are you okay?"

Marth sadly nodded. "I-I'm fine… I'm just sad that we have to leave the kitten."

Roy frowned, and he got closer to him. "I feel sad too… we shared a bond with it, and then… we had to release it to its mother."

Marth nodded in agreement. "I'll miss it."

Roy sighed. "The good thing is… that we managed to find its mother, and…" He gulped, "I'm glad that we bonded together when we took care of it."

Marth stared at him, blushing. "R-really?"

Roy nodded, smiling. "Of course." He leaned his head on Marth's shoulder. "Thank you for being my lover, Marth…" He blushed, kissing him on the cheek.

Marth smiled, also blushing. "I'm glad too Roy…"
