Hey guys! Apologies for no theme for...months? Hehehehe, I've been very busy with a lot of other stories, but HOPEFULLY before this story turns 2 in two months, I'll be able to finish this theme challenge.

If you have any requests for a theme, let me know via PM or review (also, me and my beta talked about this, and I decided: the medieval restriction is now lifted, so now you don't have to ask for anything that was in the medieval times. So go crazy! Request ANYTHING you want, whether it was in the medieval times or not! Also, AUs are allowed as well! If you have an idea, let me know!)

Anyway, requested by Arathiana, here's Art! ENJOY!

34. Art

Marth had always been fascinated when it came to amazing artwork. The prince frequently visited one particular part of his castle, because he enjoyed staring at the paintings that hung on the walls.

Every time Roy visited Marth, the first place they visited was that room. Marth talked about the origins of each painting, as if he studied about them all his life.

Roy quite enjoyed the artwork Marth had shown him, and since today was Marth's birthday, Roy decided to make a surprise for him.

The redhead grabbed the needed supplies from the store, a wide grin on his face.

He's going to love what I have in mind, he thought as he ran towards a hill.

He placed the easel on top of the hill, and put a large canvas neatly on the stand. He then grabbed a stool and got settled in front of the easel, neatly lining up the cups of tempera paint on the lip.

Roy peeked over the edge of the canvas, studying the wonderful view of the valley. White clouds floated through the sky, and the valley consisted of a variety of different shades of green.

After a few minutes of studying each and every detail of the valley, he began working on the painting.

The boy hummed a tune as he dipped the paintbrush in green paint, and spread the paint along the bottom of the canvas. After a few strokes with the paintbrush, the vivid hue of the paint began to fade. He dipped it into the green paint once more, continuing to work on the green grass of the valley.

After a few minutes, the grass was completed. Roy smiled, feeling a sense of accomplishment.

"This is going to be a great painting!" Roy exclaimed. "I'm sure that he'll love it!"

He then swirled the paint brush around in a cup of water, washing the excess green paint off. Once he'd dried off the brush with a nearby towel, he dipped it into the blue paint and began working on the sky.

It actually took Roy a while to make the painting as perfect as possible, but eventually, he managed to create an astounding, beautiful painting of the landscape below.

Roy smiled widely, satisfied with how well the colors blended with each other.

When he got up, however, things suddenly turned into a disaster.

The redhead got up too quickly from the stool, and he bumped the base of the easel with his knees by accident. Roy hissed in pain, and when he tried to hold his knees to ease it, he knocked over the easel and the painting resting on it. All sorts of colors of paint splattered all over the painting he'd worked so hard to create, making it a disgusting, unattractive mixture of brown and black.

Roy's eyes widened and a gasp escaped his mouth. "AH! Oh no!" Roy cried out as he picked up the painting.

When he looked over it, his heart dropped and he frowned.

"I...I worked so hard on this, and now look!" Roy cried.

He sighed. "Marth's going to not like this. He'll think it's the worse painting he ever sa—"

"Roy?"

Roy jumped when he heard an all-too-familiar voice behind him, and he gulped down a lump in his throat.

Roy hastily tried to place the canvas back on the easel so that he could shield it with his body. He then turned around to face Marth. "Oh! Uh...hi Marth," Roy greeted nervously.

Marth raised an eyebrow when he saw how suspicious Roy was acting. "Roy? What's wrong? What are you trying to hide?"

Roy gulped. "N-nothing!"

However, Marth did not buy Roy's lie, and he looked behind Roy. That was when he saw the painting.

"Roy...what is that?" Marth asked.

Roy sighed, knowing that there was no way out of this. "I...I was making a painting for you, and...I ruined it." He admitted as he showed Marth the painting.

Marth looked over it, studying it. To Roy's surprise, a smile was forming on his face.

"Roy, you made this? By yourself?" Marth asked.

Roy nodded. "Y-yes. But it looks terrible, doesn't it?"

"No," Marth shook his head. "I love it! You made it with your heart, Roy, and it makes me happy that you took the time to make this for me."

Roy smiled brightly. "Marth...thanks. I'm glad you actually like it."

Marth chuckled. "I should frame it in my room. It's that special to me."

Roy blushed at Marth's comment. "Th-thanks Marth. I feel better after that."

Marth laughed and hugged Roy. "You did work hard to make this for me. And that's what counts."

Roy smiled widely. "Thanks, Marth."
