Tactless
Bob was grumbling to himself in the Normandy's cargo hold, holding an assault rifle in his hands.
"Oh, but you can't come with us, we need professionals for this one. Screw you Shepard, the geth are nothing special."
Suddenly Kaidan appeared next to him. "What are you talking about? This is Saren's base we're talking about. There's probably hundreds of geth down there. Wrex and Garrus were a much better choice than you, Bob."
He only glared at Kaidan, who smiled.
"You have to admit it, you're far from the best on the Normandy's ground team."
Bob didn't answer, and stopped glaring only when the Normandy's cargo doors opened and a sandy beach welcomed them all.
Everyone in the cargo bay walked outside to be greeted by salarians. One of them looked extremely displeased.
"Can someone please explain to me why you've just alerted every single AA gun to your presence within 10 miles?"
Ashley came out of the Normandy, and scowled at the salarian's tone.
"And who would you be?" she asked.
"Captain Kirrahe, STG, and current leader of these soldiers here. Now can you explain to me, without being so rude, why you suddenly decided to land your ship in the middle of a hot-zone? You'd have to be blind not to see all the defenses around Saren's base!"
Anyone who was going to answer him was cut off by the MAKO suddenly driving in. It stopped near the Normandy. Shepard, Garrus and Wrex got out of the vehicle, and walked straight towards Kirrahe.
"You. Explain why my ship is grounded here. Now," Shepard demanded while glaring at the salarian. He was unintimidated.
"You got your own ship grounded by alerting every single cannon around here to your presence. Now, that aside, where are the reinforcements I asked the Council to send?" Kirrahe asked, glaring back at the Commander.
Shepard's gaze softened, and she said: "We are the reinforcements. There was too much static in your message, and the Council sent me to investigate."
The salarian snorted. "I lost half my men "investigating" this place. Your task is a repetition of ours."
Bob suddenly decided to cut into their conversation. "Then let's storm the fucking place."
Everyone looked at him as if he had given birth to a krogan.
"What? We have Shepard with us, they have geth! Saren doesn't stand a fucking chance!"
Some people snorted, some looked at him as if he was a moron, and others tried to hide their giggles with coughs.
Only Shepard looked at Bob with a sad face.
"Your fan-boyism is going to get you killed one day, Bob. I'm not all-powerful. This will have to be done carefully."
She turned to look at the salarian captain again.
"But he's right. The only way off this planet for us now is to get rid of the defenses from inside the base."
Kirrahe nodded in slight satisfaction.
"I knew you'd come to the same conclusion. And that isn't the only reason we need to get in. We must destroy this entire place. All the scans sent back before my men got taken show that Saren is breeding an army of krogan in there."
That instantly got Wrex's attention, and he looked Kirrahe straight in the eye.
"What? How can he be breeding an army of krogan in there? Unless," he trailed off slowly.
His eyes widened and he looked at Shepard.
"Shepard, we can't destroy this place. This is my people's hope of getting rid of the Genophage!"
She stared the agitated krogan with one of her eyebrows raised.
"Wrex. You're smarter than this. We can't let him have that cure, no matter what."
Wrex was now glaring at Shepard. Then he made a low growling noise and stalked off.
Kirrahe looked after him, shaking his head. "Commander, is he going to be a problem? We can't have an angry krogan in our own ranks suddenly go on a blood-rage."
"I'll take care of him. You worry about your own men, Captain." Shepard walked right after Wrex, and Bob silently followed, determined to save Wrex from the fateful dialogue, no matter what.
He caught up with them right when Wrex and Shepard pulled their guns on each other.
"Shepard, you can't possibly understand what this means to me! My people! This is our one shot at curing the Genophage! I can't watch as you simply destroy it!" Wrex was yelling at her, his voice rising with every sentence.
Bob stopped right next to Wrex, and said cheerfully.
"Look at the bright side! Saren won't have his army of pissed off krogan, and the Genophage is almost like a condom! You get to screw your women a thousand times before you get any noisy kids!"
Wrex saw red.
Shepard saw her own hand coming up to her face to form a face-palm.
Bob saw a krogan's head coming down on his head right before everything went black.
Wrex spat on Bob's knocked out body, and looked at Shepard, who only shrugged, and said:
"Now, where were we?"
Bob was sitting behind a rock. He was surrounded by salarians, and the geth were trying to advance on them.
He had a splitting headache, and his vision was swimming. Earlier, after he had woken up, Bob acted tough in front of Shepard and told her he's fine. Now he's slowly starting to regret having said that.
He clumsily rose from cover and shot a geth who got a bit too close for comfort. His dizziness however prevented him from seeing a rocket trooper attempting to flank them.
"Look out, Rocket on the right!" A salarian warned, right before it opened fire on Bob.
Unfortunately, Bob's sluggish reaction time wasn't enough and he took the rocket to the face.
Look, I know it has been more than two weeks, and I can expla-
You know what, I'll just say it. This time, it was me being lazy.
But anyways, I will see you in the next Chapter! Should be quicker than this one. I hope.
