The Other Turian
The battle in and around Saren's base on Virmire was going much better than Shepard had hoped it would. The salarians were keeping Saren's army at bay, with minimal casualties so far, and Shepard herself was inside the base.
Everything was going rather well until they found a room filled with prison cells.
Mary had woken up in a small cell with a glass door. She immediately tried to wreck the whole thing with a biotic blast, but didn't even leave a scratch on anything.
She then launched a warp at the glass door. After a full minute of trying to tear the cell door apart molecule by molecule, it didn't leave any visible marks at all.
Mary was absolutely perplexed, and soon realised she has no choice but to wait it out. She hoped that soon someone would come along and open the door.
Soon enough, she heard the wonderful sound of a door opening.
"You really think we'd find any friendly people in this base after those salarians we saw, Shepard?" a turian voice said.
"If there are any people not affected by whatever Saren did to them, then we need to get them out of here, Garrus."
The newcomers stopped before Mary's cell. She immediately recognised them all. Especially the turian.
She noticed his sudden horrified face and smiled at him.
"Long time no see, Gary."
Shepard frowned, and looked at Garrus. "You know this lady?"
Garrus was intently staring at Mary, his face slowly turning into a grimace. "Yes. She uh'," He stopped for a moment to collect himself. "I'd rather not talk about it. But this woman is a sick bastard, and doesn't deserve to be let out of this cell."
Someone near the door suddenly spoke up. "Whatever you pyjacks are doing in there, hurry up! Won't be long before the geth are on our asses again."
"Keep a look-out Wrex, if they're coming, we're going to bail," Shepard answered. Then she looked at Garrus. "What did she do to deserve getting brainwashed and then blown up by a nuke?"
"We had sex." Mary said instead of Garrus.
"It wasn't sex! You tied me down and raped me!" Garrus sputtered.
Shepard smiled, held her hands up, and said, "Okay. Nevermind I asked. First things first. Can you handle yourself when we let you out?"
It was a futile attempt however, because Garrus was still too shocked to think straight. "How are you even still alive? I saw you die puking in front of me!"
"Shepard! If we don't go now, the geth will corner us!" Wrex yelled.
"Hold on, dammit! Garrus is having a re-union here. Look, Garrus, we gotta go. Can this woman fight?" Shepard asked.
"Yes. If I remember correctly, she has biotics. No idea how good the-" Garrus was cut off by Mary "I can tear apart a colossus if need be."
Garrus only scoffed. "Why don't you tear this cell apart then?"
"Because I can't! I really tried, but nothing even leaves a mark on this!" Mary answered. She was starting to get slightly desperate. "Please, Gary! Let me out of this cell!"
Shepard coughed and pointed her finger at the other cells in the room. "I'll go and check on those. You deal with her."
"My name is Garrus. And if this cell really is so strong, you should survive this." Garrus pulls out his sniper rifle, aims it at Mary, at fires.
She just stares at him. Garrus looks at the glass, and notices that his bullet didn't even leave a dent. "What is this thing made of? Shepard, these cells are indestructible!" Then he shook his head. "Doesn't matter, I'll just open the door." Garrus hacks the cell door open, which had surprisingly simple security against cyber attacks.
Mary stepped out of the cell, only to see a panicking salarian run past and out of the room.
"The voices wont stop chasing me!"
They only shrugged while Shepard walked over to them. "You said these doors are indestructible? That other cell had a "For all your jailing needs, by PCC" sticker on it."
Garrus shook his head. "Never heard of them. You?" He gestured at Mary. She shook her head.
"Well then. Time to go!" Shepard said enthusiastically.
Shepard and her team were watching the Normandy park herself near them. The cargo doors opened, and Kaidan came out with another officer, carrying an improvised nuclear device out of the ship.
"Good timing," Shepard said. "Get the bomb ready, and we can the hell out of here."
They all watched out for any enemies while the nuke was being carried. When Kaidan dropped it near a drain, he walked up to Shepard. "Shepard. It'll take a while to arm the nuke. You should get the salarians and Ashley out of there."
Shepard nodded, and looked at her current ground team. "Alright, here's the plan. We're going to split up. Me and Wrex are going to go and get Ashley out. Mary and Garrus are staying here to cover Kaidan."
Garrus opened his mouth to argue, but suddenly got dragged off by Mary. "Sure thing! Come on Gary, we got Kaidan to look after!"
Shepard only spared a glance at the odd pair, and gestured for Wrex to follow.
It had been 5 minutes until the Normandy left to pick the salarian teams up, and a geth dropship suddenly arrived, and geth started pouring out.
The geth didn't get much of a chance to attack however, because Mary suddenly used a biotic shockwave that wrecked every single geth in it's path, and also wrecked the dropship, sending it flying out of control. It hit the side of a building, and exploded. Everyone but Mary immediately jumped to cover, who in her enthusiasm to turn the geth into scrap forgot to shield herself. She got thrown against a wall by a shockwave and was knocked unconscious.
Mary slowly regained consciousness and heard sounds of battle around her. She opened her eyes, but everything was too blurry. She noticed two turian-shaped silhouettes fighting each other. Mary got up on her knees and managed to throw a warp at one of them. The turian barely jumped out of the way.
Suddenly she heard Garrus' voice. "Not me, the other turian, shit-for-brains!"
Then Mary realised she nearly killed Garrus and stood up in shock. She was about to apologise, when the other turian shot her square in the face and was about to move towards Garrus when a gate opened.
Shepard rushed through the with Ashley and Wrex. They spotted Saren and immediately started spraying him with bullets. Garrus scrambled into cover, and also started taking potshots at him. Suddenly the base-wide alarms blared, and Saren decided it wasn't worth it, and jumped onto his hover-pad to escape.
The Normandy appeared again and was preparing to land near them. Shepard saw that Mary was lying on the ground with a hole in her head, and started moving towards the Normandy. Suddenly geth started pouring out of the same gate she came in, and opened fire. The Normandy's cargo doors opened, where the surviving salarians were waiting, and immediately gave Shepard and her team covering fire. Wrex ran over to Garrus, hauled him over his shoulder, and ran to the Normandy alongside Shepard and Ashley.
When they all got aboard, the cargo doors closed. The ship turned around and accelerated away from Saren's base, which exploded about a minute later.
Shepard was in the med bay, looking at Garrus as he was getting treated by Chakwas.
"So. Are you sorry to see your girlfriend gone?"
"...Screw you."
"Sure. Why not?"
Garrus growled.
So... I really have no excuse for a 2-month wait. I honestly have been lazing around and playing video games this entire time. When my story suddenly got a follower a day or 2 ago, I suddenly remembered I have something unfinished here. So I got off my ass, and wrote another Chapter.
So here I am. Feel free to throw whatever amount of rotten tomatoes you feel is necessary. Once you're done venting your frustrations, I will see you in the next Chapter!
