Before we start this theme, I would like to wish a happy birthday to a fellow Marth x Roy fan, Arathiana. X3 Hope your birthday's a good one, friend!

Anyway, suggested by BEWM HEDSHAT, here's Festival! ENJOY!

42. Festival

Today was the day of the Smash Summer Festival, where many of the Smashers got to enjoy fun attractions and delicious food. The Hands had recently made it a contest to see which attraction was the most enjoyable and which food was the most delicious. The remaining Smashers were able to enjoy these events, as long as they had spare Smash Coins to pay for them.

Marth and Roy walked into the festival, and the chatter of the people around them was raucous. The smell of many different kinds of food wafted through the air, making the two lovers hungry. Multiple booths were spread out everywhere on each side of them.

"It's been too long since I've been to a Smash Summer Festival," Roy commented with a smile.

Marth chuckled as he grabbed his Smash Coins and counted them. "Oh yes. I wish that the Hands would have festivals like these every day."

Roy laughed as he also grabbed his Smash Coins from his pocket. "Yeah. A year is too long to wait, in my opinion."

The two looked around. There were stands spread around the area, all of them hosted by one or two Smashers. All of the attractions appeared to be fun: there was go-kart racing, jousting, laser tag, and ring tosses.

"Where should we go first?" Roy asked, staring at the overwhelming variety of stands. He was jumping with excitement like a little kid. Marth smiled at his lover's enthusiasm. Over the years when they'd been apart during the Brawl Tournament, Marth forgot that Roy had always had that cute, childlike excitement.

Marth looked around at the stands. Humming, he suggested, "How about we go get some ice cream?"

Roy turned to Marth and nodded. "Good idea! But where do we find an ice cream stand?"

Marth dug in his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper that Master Hand had given him when they entered the Festival. On the paper was a map of all the attractions and food stands. Looking at it for a few seconds, Marth placed his finger on one part of the map. "It's a bit faurther down there," Marth said, pointing forward.

Roy nodded. "All right, let's go!" With that, Roy ran off. Marth chuckled at Roy's enthusiasm—it was adorable. "He sure is excited to be here," he commented to himself as he followed Roy.

The ice cream stand was run by the Ice Climbers, Nana and Popo, to Roy's surprise. The sign was painted in blue and pink colors with the letters, "The Ice Climbers' Ice Cream Stand". When Roy approached the stand, the two children smiled and waved.

"Mr. Roy!" Popo called.

Roy grinned as he greeted, "Hey, kids. I didn't expect you two to be here."

"Well," Nana replied. "We may not be in the tournament anymore, but we do get invited to fun stuff like this!"

"Really? That's cool!" Roy cried as Marth finally caught up with him. Marth smiled at the two children.

"Hello, children," Marth greeted.

"Hi, Mr. Marth!" the Ice Climbers greeted back.

Marth grabbed his Smash Coins and placed them on the counter. "Two ice cream cones, please. One blueberry flavored and one strawberry flavored."

"Good choice! Our favorite flavors!" Nana cried as she ran to the back.

After a minute, Nana returned with two ice cream cones in her hands. She gave the blueberry ice cream cone to Marth, and she gave the strawberry ice cream cone to Roy.

"Thank you, Ms. Nana," Marth said gratefully. "I hope you two win the food contest!"

"Thanks!" Popo cried. "We'll do our best!"

With that, they bid farewell to each other as Marth and Roy walked to a picnic table to eat their ice cream. Marth licked his ice cream, enjoying the sweet and creamy flavor. "They make the best ice cream," Marth commented.

Roy nodded in agreement. "Yeah. I hope they win the food contest," he said as he licked his strawberry ice cream.

The two ate their treats as they talked about the festival. Roy had a grin on his face the whole time they were talking and eating. Marth couldn't help but feel his heart flutter at Roy's happiness. He seems to be enjoying himself, he thought as he bit into his cone.

Once they were done with their ice cream, they threw the wrappers away and they continued traveling around the Festival.

"We should play an attraction," Marth suggested as he glanced around at the attraction stands.

"Mmm," Roy hummed. "I want to try some of Pac-Man's pizza."

Marth stared at his lover. "Are you sure?" he asked.

Roy nodded. "Of course. Once I'm done eating some of his pizza, then I'll try an attraction."

"All right. Meet you at the picnic table!" Marth said as he ran off.

Roy chuckled at Marth's playfulness, shaking his head.

Marth stared at the many attractions, having no idea which one to play. Sonic's Ring Toss appeared to be fun, while Mario and Captain Falcon's Go-Kart Racing looked thrilling. When he heard a cry of pain, he turned his head to see a Quick Jousting attraction. His friend, Ike, had just won one match against Luigi. The younger Mario Brother was on the ground, but he didn't appear to be hurt; instead, he had a wide grin on his face as Ike helped him up.

"Better luck next time, Luigi," Ike spoke.

Luigi shrugged. "It's fine! I had fun, and that's all that matters!" With that, Luigi walked out of the small jousting field.

Ike returned to the stand, and he realized that there wasn't anyone in line. That was, until Marth approached.

"Oh, Marth," Ike greeted. "Here to play? Or just wanted to chat?"

Marth beamed at his friend. "I'm here to play," he spoke.

Ike raised an eyebrow, then a smirk appeared on his face. "Are you sure? I'll best you!" he teased.

Marth laughed. "Oh, you'll see. I'll win and bring home a prize for Roy."

Ike laughed alongside his friend. "Still in love with Roy, huh? Anyway, come to the back. Get prepared for a quick match."

Ike opened the gate that was on the side of his stand, and Marth entered. When he walked to the back, he saw that there were pieces of armor hanging on the wall of a stable to his right, and a brown horse was standing behind a large gate to the left. Marth grabbed the needed pieces and placed them on. After a few minutes, he then opened the gate and entered. He jumped on the horse, and made it go outside to the entrance.

The jousting field was quite small, with a dirt pathway. White fences were on both sides of the path, and in front of Marth was Ike in his armor and on his horse.

"Ready, Marth?" Ike called.

Marth nodded. "Ready!"

With a battle cry, Ike charged towards Marth. The Hero King made his horse lunge at the other blue-haired swordsman, and after a tense few seconds of lunging at each other, Marth's sword hit Ike's armored chest, and Ike fell off his horse with a thud.

Marth stopped his horse and he looked down to see his friend getting back on his feet. "Sorry," Marth apologized. "Did I hurt you?"

Ike turned to him and shook his head. "Of course not!" he laughed. "That was a good match!"

After they returned their horses and removed their armor, Ike brought Marth back outside. "So now that you've won," Ike said. "What prize would you like?" He moved to the side to show a shelf full of prizes, such as stuffed animals and board games.

Marth hummed as he scanned the prizes, thinking of what Roy would like. Board games aren't his fancy, he thought. A stuffed animal would be cute. Perhaps…

One stuffed animal caught his eye: an extremely large, yellow dragon plush sat at the bottom of the shelf. By the looks of the the cotton around the dragon, Marth assumed that this dragon had fur.

"I'll take that one," Marth pointed at the stuffed dragon.

Ike turned his head to where Marth was pointing and he raised an eyebrow. "Uh…" Ike hesitated. "Are you sure about that one, Marth? Even I had a hard time carrying it to display it."

Marth nodded. "Of course. Roy would love it."

Ike turned to Marth, then at the stuffed dragon before he sighed. "All right. Don't say I didn't warn you, though!" he said as he grabbed the plush. When he picked it up, he nearly stumbled over. After a few seconds of trying to get his balance back, Ike placed the dragon on the counter. "I hope Roy enjoys it!" he said.

"Thank you, Ike. Take care," Marth grabbed the dragon, realizing that Ike was right; it was hard to carry. Marth nearly stumbled to the ground, but he stayed on his feet as he walked to where Roy said to meet him at. However, due to the dragon's size, it blocked his view, so Marth had no idea where he was going.

Meanwhile, Roy had returned to the table, with two plates of pizza in his hands. When he returned to the picnic table, he realized that Marth wasn't there. Raising an eyebrow, he placed the plates of pizza on the table. "I wonder what Marth's doin—" When Roy turned, a dragon plush was shoved in his face, and the redhead nearly fell over. "WHOA!" Roy gasped as he kept his balance. Why is a stuffed dragon walking around here? he wondered.

"Hey Roy."

Roy's eyes widened. And it talks?!

However, upon seeing Marth's head poke out from the side, Roy's eyes grew wider.

"Marth!" Roy gasped. "How did you get such a huge plush?!"

Marth laughed as he placed the dragon plush on the side of the table, panting from carrying it around. "I won it from Ike's jousting attraction," he spoke.

Roy stared at the large dragon, studying its yellow color and its cotton fur. With a twinkle in his eye, he tackled Marth into a hug. "I love it! It's so cute!" he cried.

Marth chuckled as he held his lover back. "I'm glad you like it, Roy. I won it just for you."

Roy placed his head on Marth's chest. "Thanks, Marth."

The two then sat back down at the picnic table, eating their pizza. After chatting and eating, the two went around the Festival to try out more attractions and food. Marth participated in Villager's Fruit Picking attraction, but he lost when Wario was declared the winner. Roy also joined Red's Fishing attraction, and ended up winning second place. During their breaks, they tried out Mr. Game & Watch's Hot Dog and Hamburger stand, and Rosalina's Star Tea. A large smile was on both their faces the entire time they walked around the Festival; clearly, they were both enjoying themselves.

A few hours passed, and the sun finally began to set. All of the Smashers had closed their stands for the night, and everyone went about their usual schedule: training for the evening, and eating dinner before heading to bed for the night.

Marth and Roy entered the Smasherteria, with Roy carrying the stuffed dragon that Marth had won for him (which he named "Legend"). Marth chuckled at Roy trying to keep on his toes.

"You're going to fall with that dragon," Marth teased.

Roy shook his head as they went to their table. "I'll be fine. I wanted to show everyone Legend!" When they took their seats, Roy placed Legend nearby.

"Hey, Marth and Roy!"

Marth and Roy looked up to see Link and Zelda joining them at the table.

"Hello, Link and Princess Zelda," Marth greeted.

The first thing that the two Hylians noticed was Roy's stuffed dragon. Zelda giggled. "That dragon is so cute," she commented.

Roy looked at his prize, and nodded. "Thanks. Marth won it for me. I named him Legend!"

"That's a nice name," Link commented. When one of the Mii Chefs brought their food, the four began eating in silence.

Marth was the one who broke the silence. "So, who won the Attraction Contest and the Food Contest?" he asked.

Link looked up from his spaghetti and replied, "Ryu and Mac's attraction won. It was a Shoot the Targets game with boxing gloves."

"Interesting," Marth commented. "And the Food contest?"

"Pac-Man's pizza won," Zelda piped up. "Even the Wii Fit Trainers couldn't get enough of his pizza!"

The four laughed. "Of course Pac-Man wins the Food Contest," Roy spoke. "His pizzas are amazing!"

After dinner, all of the Smashers retired to bed. When Marth settled in his own bed, he turned to see Roy placing Legend on his own bed.

"Roy?" Marth questioned, raising an eyebrow. "Are you seriously going to sleep with that?"

Roy nodded. "Of course. I love it, Marth. It reminds me of you."

Marth chuckled as he smiled. "Of course. I did win it for you."

Roy tucked himself and his stuffed dragon to bed, and he whispered, "Goodnight, Marth."

"Goodnight, Roy. Sweet dreams."

When the two fell asleep, they both had dreams of the Festival that day, and they both slept peacefully. That Festival day was the best one yet for them.
