"Spohkh, we haven't spent a moment alone in months! Can't you skip this meeting of 'Alcoholics Under Construction'?"

The lack of private time wasn't unusual - they were, after all, bridge crew for Captain Curious thus there was never a dull moment. But with a child in the house, private spouse time got sacrificed. Now, thanks to the "boys' club", Uhura would once again spend the night alone with her growing stash of contraband erotic novels from Rixx and her dilithium-powered Spock substitute.

"K'diwa, the captain believes that the cohesiveness of the crew benefit from these meetings."

"Are you saying that you enjoy these frat parties!? Where is Spock and what did you do to him?"

"As I am standing before you, I fail to understand your -"

"You're not Spock. Spock placed his family above 'Boys' Night Out' with the captain."

"Nyota, I have spent quality time, as you phrase it, with Gray -"

Spock took an instinctive step backwards when her eyes went predator-mode. Despite their lengthy relationship, Spock still marveled at his attraction to and fear of her infamous temper.

"What about me, Spock!? I pick Grayson up from daycare. We come home. I cook while you play with your -"

"Nyota, that is unfair. I seek to be a more than adequate father to our son and I find my time with him rewarding, although I do miss cooking with you."

Spock's olive branch got whacked by the axe her anger wielded.

"And I understand that - you're an excellent father. But after I cook and we eat and do story time and bath time and bed time..."

Her sigh exhaled all her anger to be replaced by frustration and tears. Only Vulcan hearing could pick up the rest of her plaint.

"...there's no time for us."

Spock looked at his mate and knew this for certain:

Nyota was being illogical and he had no idea what to do.

Nyota's complaint confused him mightily because it was she who insisted he join Kirk's group.

She'd argued relentlessly that the Enterprise crew - especially the bridge crew - could not continue to tip-toe around Spock's hurt feelings and Kirk's complete confusion and irritation at Spock's moodiness. Nyota had explained, calmly and patiently, that the better his relationship with Kirk the better the Enterprise would operate. She soothed him in his smoldering frustration that he'd been found wanting without being given an opportunity to rectify his performance - explaining that Kirk didn't anticipate how Spock would interpret the captain's actions.

His mate convinced - no, compelled - him to accept this overture from the captain.

Now she was furious at the unintended consequences of her persuasion.
