AN: i didnt want to do homework so i did this instead also i wish i can read french. and spanish. and indonesian
Hana2- yeah, the kisses are pretty fun, but i dont think i'm going to do them often because as i said, WOS would be focused more on the team's trials to be internationally recognized. but don't worry, i'll still be writing them, and when i post them, they'll probably be very intense, or very fluffy ;) (also are you still going to be translating FOWL? i dont mean to be demanding, its just that you never came back to me about that one)
Guest- i think, ayame having the worst timing would be a running gag in this story. i mean, i already did that once back in FOLW so i'll probably do more of it because i think its hilarious. that and ayame has blackmail material (what a sadistic person she is. im proud). thanks for reviewing!
Thao Nhi- thank you very much! im happy you think my stories are great, but i dont think theyre the best. im sure the spanish section, or the french section, and even the indonesian section have better stories than mine are, but thank you still. and dont worry about your english! its very good. im just glad you took the time to review. i know how hard it must be writing in english for a non-native speaker (i wasnt one either) so i really appreciate it. also love you too!
yeah i dont own captain tsubasa
Chapter 11: Bonding
"Misugi-kun!"
She shouted as she sent the ball flying to the guy, as well as sprinting to the other field. She heard the calls of the other team to mark her thoroughly, but she ignored them. She needed to be at the right place in case their forwards needed help after all.
It was the start of practicing with mixed teams that day, and so far it was doing quite well. For her team anyway. They had a pretty decent team. Actually, it was also the most peaceful seeing that they mostly had the rational people.
Sorimachi-kun formed a three-top with Hoshiko-chan and Nitta-kun, while she, Misugi-kun and Mao-chan held the midfield for their team. For their defense, Rika-chan, Soda-kun, Satoko-chan, and Takisugi-kun holds off any of their opponents' players and Wakashimazu-kun guarded their goal.
It was a solid team.
The opposing team though, they didn't look like in good shape.
Well, considering that they put Noriko-chan and Hyuuga-kun in a team together, maybe it was expected. They've been clashing since the beginning of their match. At least Ayame and Wakabayashi-kun weren't that bad (and yeah they were in a team too, but so far their arguments have been pretty low. Oh right, Misaki-kun was there to calm them down). They've fought over everything and insulting each other nonstop it didn't even seem like they were on the same team. Matsuyama-kun tried to tell them to stop but they wouldn't listen and now their team is in shambles.
Needless to say, it wasn't a surprise when they managed to score another goal again, making the score 3-1.
"What the hell, Asaki?" Hyuuga-kun roared angrily. "You could have easily defended that!"
"Easy?" Noriko-chan shrieked, "We were surrounded, moron! We couldn't possibly leave our post and leave Midori alone, not when the person we're marking can easily make the goal with just one wrong move."
"They scored either way," Hyuuga-kun spat bitterly. "Have you ever heard of taking risks? That was the perfect opportunity to make one so they didn't have to get that goal."
"Well I didn't take it because it wasn't worth it knowing that they would have gotten it easier if I left Sanae to block Misugi!"
She did have a point there. It was a good thing Misugi-kun thought of a way to score without passing them the ball because most of them were either tightly marked, or all the way back to their side, defending.
"I didn't know Noriko-chan can scream that loud?" Rika-chan whispered to her as all of them stood by the sides –again- waiting for the argument to settle.
"Me either," she agreed, "I didn't even think she knew how to be like that. She was always that cold, silent grace, but I guess you learn something every day."
"You're bringing up my mistake on that project, really? Here of all places?"
"If you didn't make that mistake, we could have gotten a perfect score!"
Are you kidding? They were going this far?
She heard a sigh from beside her and turned to see Matsuyama-kun rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"Rough day?" she asked.
"You have no idea," he answered. "Those two just wouldn't cooperate. We've tried everything to stop them but they just find another thing to fight over."
Now she felt a little bad for being happy that her team was the calmest out of everyone.
"Come on Kiseki. That was a shitty pass! You said you can do better than that. Work like it!"
They turned their attention to the other match going on, where it seemed like that Wakabayashi-kun was getting frustrated that he's been defending their goal for almost the entire match while neither team have scored yet.
"A shitty pass? Are you fucking kidding me? You're talking about a shitty pass when your throws are like a wimpy quarterback* with no idea what he's doing!"
Oh dear God, Ayame's using American Football analogies. She's getting frustrated too.
"Oh for God's sake will the two of you just play like you're in a team," Misaki-kun interjected, trying to sound levelheaded, but it wasn't working. There was that crease on his face that says he was getting annoyed.
"Tell that to him! He started it!"
"I started it? Let me remind you that you called me a 'useless, no good-'"
Well, so much for doing better than Hyuuga-kun and Noriko-chan.
They turned this time to the last team playing together, which consisted of a pair between Tsubasa and Saya-chan. It shouldn't be a troublesome team. They have the two prodigies together, they were bound to be the advantage. But then again the 0-0 score seemed to say otherwise.
"No! I refuse."
That didn't sound good.
"But Hiyazaki-san, that'll give us an edge over them, please just listen to me," was that her boyfriend pleading? Holy shit, it was! What's going on with them?
"And I'm telling you Oozora-san," Saya-chan hissed, "I refuse to comply with that stupid plan because it's not going to work."
"But how are we going to know that if we don't try," Tsubasa argued calmly. "Come on, it wouldn't hurt to try. And if the worst happens, we'll just take it back."
"And that's the problem!" Saya-chan countered. "We can't afford to make any errors. It can cause us everything, more so if this was a real match. I refuse!" She repeated before storming off away from him.
"Hiyaza-"
Tsubasa stopped, scratching his head instead while a confused look entered his face. Oh, he looked so helpless and puzzled on what to do. Poor him.
But, as she looked around the training field as the verbal fights and misunderstandings continue, it didn't seem like the matches would be restarting soon.
It's going to be a long day.
"You know what Hyuuga? You can go to hell!"
"Today was awful," she declared as she dropped her school bag on the long dining table. Their group decided to meet in the dining room after dinner to go over their homework and see compare their answers. It was better to know what they did wrong than finding out that the test they were going to be making up was impossible to answer. Plus, this way Ayame wouldn't give her that sly look that told her she was trying to stop herself from making a remark about her and Tsubasa's situation that one time. It was her fault for having the worst timing. They didn't tell her to catch them making out.
"You can say that again," Kisugi-kun mumbled against his open notebook. For some reason he had his face planted on the thing and it's a little bit concerning.
"How did the coaches come up with these combinations anyway?" Taki-kun asked as he looked up from his work. She took a seat beside Tsubasa who seemed to be in deep concentration trying to work on the English worksheet. Ayame probably made him figure out his small mistakes.
"Who knows?" Wakabayashi-kun answered nonchalantly while scanning his math work. Then he looked up to look at her cousin. "Hey Kiseki, I need help with translating this sentence."
Huh, apparently their spat this morning was over. Well, those never did last long. Once they were done playing, they usually go back to normal.
"What sentence? Let me see," Ayame said, pausing from comparing her answers from Misaki-kun's Japanese Lit worksheet. She got up from her seat to check over Wakabayashi-kun's work and proceeded to teach him what he needed help with.
"But come on," Taki-kun continued, "Why in the world would they put Asaki and Hyuuga together in a team? They should have known that was bound to be a disaster.
"They've seen them out of the field. Even sharing the same room could make them combust! How are we supposed to make a team when they're like that?" he ranted.
"Maybe because they saw potential if they were put in combination," Shiori-chan suggested as she let Misaki-kun look through her chemistry notes.
"Potential? They couldn't even work together even for just a minute! That combination will never work."
"Considering there was a fight going on in almost every team that played today," Misaki-kun remarked while returning Shiori-chan's notes, "It's going to be hard a looking for one that's going to work. Which also reminds me," he turned his attention to Tsubasa, who was busy answering questions on his History homework. "What did you do to make Hiyazaki-san that furious at you?"
It took a second for Tsubasa to finally realize it before he finally look up in. "What?" he said.
"Oh yeah," Takasugi-kun said. "I kinda got curious about that. I never knew someone could be angry at Tsubasa."
"What?" Tsubasa repeated.
Kisugi-kun, finally had his head from his book, rolled his eyes. "We're talking about your fight with Hiyazaki, duh."
"Okay, we weren't fighting," Tsubasa tried to deny, "We just had a… misunderstanding."
Everyone gave him a certain look that said they believed him.
"Sure Tsubasa," Misaki-kun said, "Whatever you say. Still doesn't change the fact that she was angry at you."
"But why would she be angry at Tsubasa?" Sanae finally spoke while ignoring the annoyed huff of her boyfriend from beside her. She could hear him mutter something about not being his fault and people ignoring him.
"From what I remember, wasn't it something about strategies?" Rika-chan suggested. "Like, Saya-chan said Tsubasa-kun had a… stupid plan?"
"Tsubasa doesn't generally think of stupid ideas," Sanae defended weakly, while everyone just looked at her blankly. Well, Tsubasa was beaming at her. "At least, when it comes to soccer," she muttered, and she could feel Tsubasa's light hearted glare on her.
"Maybe it was really stupid this time?" Izawa-kun suggested, taking a break from his Math problems. "Sometimes he does think of the most ridiculous thing."
"I'm right here you know," Tsubasa scowled as he crossed his arms.
"That is possible," Misaki-kun nonchalantly agreed, ignoring Tsubasa's statement. But there was a tiny smirk gracing his lips, and she knew he was teasing her boyfriend. "His ideas doesn't make any sense sometimes."
That sounded like a fun idea.
"Hm," she hummed in thought. "Now that mention it, Tsubasa does comes up with the most impossible strategies. No wonder Saya-chan didn't agree it."
She looked to Tsubasa from the corner of her eye, and she had to suppress her smile when she saw him narrow his eyes and mouth the word "traitor" towards her.
"That's probably it," Wakabayashi-kun agreed, not looking up from his work.
Everyone else started to voice their agreements, and Tsubasa, as if realizing that everyone was just going to ignore what he'll say, leaned into his chair and sulked like Daichi would.
Oh, poor baby. She guessed it was time to end all of their teasing.
"But," she started, "No matter how impossible they seem to be, Tsubasa can always make them happen."
She could feel Tsubasa's gaze on her, and he felt his hand find hers under the table, giving her a tight squeeze. She only squeezed back as she watched their friends smile and nod in agreement.
"-lights on? Huh, who could it be? Who's hungry at this time of the night?"
They heard a voice coming down the hallway and Sachi-chan peered over the walkway.
"Oh, hey there," she greeted them and went inside the room. "Whatcha doing?"
"Making fun of Tsubasa," was Ayame's fast answer, to which Tsubasa cried out a "Hey!" in offense.
She rolled her eyes and replied, "We're helping each other do homework, Sachi-chan. It's always better to compare our answers in case someone didn't know what the answer to a question."
"That and gossiping," Taki-kun added. "Good team bonding experience."
She gave him a small glare. Really? He had to say that. Okay, maybe they were huge gossips, but that didn't mean he had to announce that.
"Huh," Sachi-chan said thoughtfully. "That sounds fun. I'm gonna get my work and join you guys. I'm not going to pass up this chance to gossip."
She wasn't even concerned with her homework.
There group was enveloped with silence once Sachi-chan left until someone finally decided to break it.
"¥200 says she'll bring everyone down here," Kisugi-kun betted. "And our study sessions won't be as peaceful anymore."
Well, he wasn't wrong. Sachi-chan arrived back, dragging Noriko-chan, Yumi-chan and Hoshi-chan with her. What was surprising was that Hyuuga-kun and Wakashimazu-kun was following beside them. Out of the five of them, Sachi-chan looked to be the one excited with this thing. But either way, they took a seat around the tables and started taking out their homework. Yumi-chan even went to Shiori-chan to ask for help. Hyuuga-kun and Noriko-chan still wasn't talking to each other and seemed to be content just glaring at each other.
Even more shocking was when almost everyone filed in into the room, each carrying their own book bag. Saya-chan, who usually didn't like crowds, even came, though still angry at Tsubasa based on the glare she gave her boyfriend. Tsubasa could only sigh, as if giving up in the thought making her nicer towards him.
But before she knew it, the room was suddenly loud and happy, as if this morning's fiascos didn't happen at all. When everyone sat together for dinner and when they all first started coming here to do homework, they were still tense and in a sour mood, but it seemed helping each other with homework and getting to talk with each other helped eased the mood. That and gossiping, she guessed. Everyone seemed to be more focused on those than their homework, really.
Maybe Taki-kun was right, she mused while seeing everyone laugh and talk and teach other, while seeing Hyuuga-kun and Noriko-kun try to figure out a formula, while seeing Saya-chan apologize to Tsubasa for her harsh words this morning, maybe this was a good bonding experience.
They had practice again the next morning, and she was curious whether what they did last night had any effects at all, that they're going to get better relationships and trusts between.
"Go suck an ass Hyuuga!"
Or maybe not. Hey, at least Saya-chan didn't call Tsubasa's plan stupid anymore.
End Chapter
AN: okay, most of their interactions i just modeled after my friends and people i know who are in sports team, which to be honest are the biggest gossips ive known. granted im also a huge gossip, but man those sports team members are a hub of gossips. i thought it was funny if i made them a little bit like that. they're still teenagers after all.
anyway, i wrote this chapter to show that sure they've accepted that everyone of them have equal potential, but doesnt mean team dynamics would magically be great. there's still some stuff that needs to be resolved. that and i just love writing insults. but once they get past this obstacle, im sure the team would be awesome.
*that was a reference towards the american sport, american football. i mean i figured since ayame is half america, making references to the most popular sport in america. a quarterback is basically someone who is responsible to the plays the team will make offensively and they have to have accurate passes. so i thought it was funny if ayame compared genzo to a quarterback
so that's it for now. i hope you enjoyed reading this and i hope you review as well!
