Chapter 31: Worries
She never got to tell Tsubasa about her plans. She couldn't find the time. Before she knew it, they already passed up the sheet and they returned back to camp that weekend. They've been so busy with training again that she couldn't find any time to sit down with him and just talk. And he's too caught up messing around to take anything seriously. Like, the ass scared the hell out of him one time, making her jump and trip on a piece of rock, right in the middle of a match as she dribbled the ball in midfield. Instead of helping her up, the jerk only howled in laughter (she fell on her face). He wouldn't even stop laughing even when she was running after him in rage, not even scared of what she might do to him (she missed the times when he actually was still afraid of her wrath. The other boys were influencing him too much).
Though it was a welcome sight to see him laughing and smiling again. He's been really stressing about managing the club, he didn't seem like he was enjoying life like he usually did. Not to mention that Sugimoto-san still didn't leave him at all even after he told her that they were dating. If she was going to be honest, she was also annoyed by the first year's unrelenting pursuing of her boyfriend, pissed even. Come on, Tsubasa clearly showed her that he was committed to her, and she was committed to him. What more did she want to stop bothering Tsubasa?
So, yes, she was irritated beyond belief.
"You look like you want to strangle someone," she heard Ayame's voice from beside her. They sat on the grass, watching the last practice match that was still going on. They had a friendly with Argentina the day after tomorrow, so they were cranking up the training sessions. The coaches were kind of ruthless about it too. For almost a whole week, they alternated from hard workouts to light ones, if she could even call it that. She didn't even know why they were working them this hard. It was just a friendly anyway. She was glad that today and tomorrow weren't as demanding as previous days. Today would be even lighter. She couldn't wait to relax her muscles.
"I don't want to strangle anyone," she scoffed, crossing her arms. "Just really annoyed at myself."
Ayame gave her a look of understanding. "You still haven't told him," she stated.
Sanae nodded with a frown. Ayame began to pick at the grass.
"You gotta tell him soon you know," Ayame told her. "He has to know."
"I know," Sanae sighed depressingly. "It's just, I still can't find any time at all. And whenever we do have the time to just hang out, and for some reason, he always just wants to take a nap with me. And you know me, I can't say no to naps."
Ayame gave her a weird look before shaking her head with a snort. "Right, naps," she smirked.
Sanae huffed and crossed her arms. "Yes naps!" she exclaimed. "What else are we supposed to do?"
"Oh, I don't know," her cousin said airily. "Activities that most couples do… kissing, making out, touching, you know, fucking."
"Ayame!" Sanae exclaimed, scandalized. Why would she say such a vulgar thing in public no less! And with such a straight face to boot. Did she even have a sense of decency at all?
"What, I'm just saying," her cousin tried to defend herself. "How long have you guys been dating? Six months?"
"Seven," Sanae clarified.
"Right," Ayame said. "And usually, most couples have done a lot of things by this point. Look at Rika and Mamoru-kun. They're at it like rabbits in heat."
"They don't do it that often," Sanae said. "And they're different. They've been together far longer than we have. Of course they'd be more comfortable with those stuff than we have."
"You sure?" Ayame challenged. "Because from how I see and hear it," Sanae blushed, "you seem to be the only one not ready for it yet."
"How would you know?" She retorted with her face red. "You're not Tsubasa."
"Hun, with the way he looks at your ass, I'm pretty sure he's more than ready to ravish you against a wall anytime, anywhere, 24/7."
"Ayame!" she exclaimed again. Why did her cousin have to be like this?
Ayame shrugged, rubbing her hands together to get the dirt out of them. "What?" she said. "I'm just saying. Almost everyone can see how he wants you badly. The guys are even asking when he's going to make a move because apparently, Tsubasa's having a bad case of blue balls. Well, that was before. He seemed a little more relaxed right now."
Sanae was appalled. She had never heard of such vulgar things in her whole life. She didn't know whether she was just so sheltered or she was just too oblivious to such things.
"How do you even know this?" she asked.
"Taro has a really loose tongue," was her simple answer. "He's still wondering why Tsubasa seemed to be in such a good mood lately and is bugging me constantly of his weird theories."
That- that was probably her doing. Ever since Valentine's Day, they've- she's been occasionally doing to those to him whenever the make out sessions got too heavy.
"One time he said that you guys finally went all the way," her cousin said airily.
What the hell?
"But I completely shot that down because if you guys already did something, you'd tell me as soon as possible." Ayame turned to her curiously. "Right?"
Sanae looked away from her, a line of pink smeared on her nose and cheeks. She never did get to tell her cousin about the handjobs she's been giving her boyfriend.
"Holy shit," Ayame whispered. "You guys have done something, haven't you? That's the reason why Tsubasa's been in a good mood, isn't it? Really Sanae? How could you? I thought I was your best friend!"
Ayame began to shove her lightly, making her grimace as she leaned away from her cousin.
"Tell me!" Ayame shook her. "I can't believe you wouldn't tell me such a thing. I demand an answer!"
Her cousin continued to shake her, and she felt she was going to have a vertigo if she didn't stop.
"Okay, okay," she conceded. "Just stop shaking me. You're making me sick."
Ayame immediately stopped her abuse and looked at her expectantly, crossing her arms with a smug smirk. "Spill," she ordered. "I can't pass up this juicy info."
Sanae gave out an exasperated sigh and rolled her eyes. What was it and people being such huge gossips? Why did they even care so much other people's lives?
Why the heck did she need to know about her and Tsubasa's sexual endeavors? It's embarrassing!
Knowing Ayame wasn't going to stop bothering her until she told her, Sanae took a deep breath and looked down.
"I-uh-I've been giving Tsubasa handjobs," she mumbled quietly, her face pink as she forced herself to look away from her cousin.
Ayame knitted her eyebrows in confusion. "What?" she asked flatly. "I didn't hear you."
Sanae turned to her in confusion. What did she mean she didn't hear her? She said it in a perfectly reasonable volume. Did she really have to say it again?
"I said I've been giving him handjobs," she said once more, a little louder this time and still hoped nobody heard her.
"What?" Ayame asked again.
Oh for heaven's sake.
Sanae released a deep sigh and looked around. Then she motioned for Ayame to come closer. Ayame blinked her eyes quizzically but followed nonetheless. Damn, whatever they did must have been pretty risky if Sanae had to call her over to whisper it.
Sanae cupped her hands around her ear, and finally whispered what she's been trying to tell her for the past five minutes. Her face was pink once more as she separated from her; Ayame's eyes were wide in disbelief.
"Damn," she remarked as she leaned away. "I did not expect that. How in the world did that happen?"
"It was Valentine's day," Sanae told her. "Things got kind of… heavy that day."
"'Heavy?'" Ayame teased. Sanae only rolled her eyes and looked away from her. If only her cheeks weren't pink.
"So you've been… you know," Ayame raised her hand and did a discreet up and down motion, to which Sanae only swatted down while fighting the blood from flowing to her cheeks. She did whisper a soft yes to her question.
"Huh," her cousin remarked. "Who would have thought that little miss prude was actually not a prude at all."
Sanae gave her a glare. "I am not a prude."
"Yeah right," Ayame snorted. "I remember you saying when we were kids you were going to save yourself until you're married but with how things are going, I don't think you'll be able to wait until you're married."
"Shut up," Sanae ordered with a hiss, to which Ayame only laughed at with glee.
She gave out a sigh and turned back to the field, going back to watch her boyfriend play.
Why did Ayame have to bring up marriage of all things? Now that just brought out ideas she didn't need to be worrying over. She hasn't even talked with Tsubasa about this! They were too young to get married. Sure she did say that she was saving herself for marriage, but like Ayame said, it didn't look like that was going to happen. She kind of already accepted that she was going to have her first time before she even tied the knot.
Besides, she wanted to graduate college first, and Tsubasa probably wanted to pursue his career first before they do get married. They have all the time in the world. They could wait until they were stable enough to support themselves before they do anything.
Why was she thinking that Tsubasa's going to be her husband? There's a long time between now and then. Who's to say that they'll be together in ten years?
She loved Tsubasa, she really did, and she'll be in love with him until her drying breath. But will he feel the same? Who knows maybe he'll meet someone in Brazil or even in Europe (because let's face it, her boyfriend was too talented to just stay in South America) that will turn his world upside down. And who was she to stop him from being happy? She would always, always pick his happiness over hers. And if she wasn't the one who made him happy, then she would let him go, no matter how much it hurt her so.
Tsubasa's team scored just as the whistle blew. Ishizaki-kun jumped on his back, ruffling his hair as he tried to balance the both of them. He was laughing along with everyone as they all surrounded him. Sanae couldn't help but smile as she watched them. It always made her feel warm inside whenever she sees him having this much fun.
As everyone started to leave, Tsubasa suddenly turned to him and their eyes met. His lips began to shape into another smile, making her stomach flutter. She returned his smile, just as big as his.
It'd be nice, being married to Tsubasa.
