Strive not to be a success, but rather be of value.

-Albert Einstein

Maybe I have an ulcer, I thought as my stomach burned and growled at me. I doubt a little hunger could make me feel so horrible. My throat keeps making gagging motion, as if I was trying to vomit. I didn't even know that was possible on an empty stomach.

I threw the blanket off of myself, the cold air tickling my skin and causing tiny goose bumps to appear. I'm covered from head to toe, but I'm still freezing. The only thing seemingly appetizing in the fridge is some celery. I typically hate it, but I heard that it's negative calories. It's zero calories and chewing it burns calories.

Thankfully, the celery stalk calmed my stomach and it didn't burn anymore so I went back to bed.

The next day, PJ was supposed to meet me at noon in the lobby and then we'd walk to the zoo. The zoo isn't too far from my house, which is good.

During the few hours we spent at the zoo, he got both of us a hot cocoa. I wanted to pay, but he insisted. Since he insisted on that, I insisted we spend nearly twenty minutes at the polar bear exhibit since they're my favourite animal. I even showed him my tattoo, though I regretted it because of the coldness. It's a puzzle piece on my hip. Rowan has a matching one.

After we finished at the zoo, we decided to go back my flat and watch a movie.

A few weeks had passed since PJ and I went to the zoo. On the eve of Christmas Eve, I was hanging out with PJ. We still weren't "official", though. We are simply dating.

The purpling of my nails still hadn't cleared up, yet. But, I'm not worried about that. What' I'm worried about is the clumps of hair that come out whenever I brush my hair (no bald spots yet, than God) and the fine hairs all over my body. I'm always cold even if I'm wrapped up in a blanket and the heat's on. I think I'm getting sick.

On the bright side, I've lost a lot of weight. But I still feel gross. I thought this feeling would go away when I started losing some weight. I know what's best for my body and shedding the extra weight won't kill me.

"Come to my parents' Christmas party with me," I said to PJ. He pondered the offer for a moment before tell me he would only under one condition. "Which is?"

"You become my girlfriend," he said, a huge smile spreading across our faces.

"I thought you'd never ask," I cooed. I gave him a big hug and a kiss before discussing the details for the Christmas party.
