Cruising For A Bruising. Chapter 7: Riding High but Feeling Low.
Butchy was pouting as he sat inside Big Mamma's, arms folded over his chest as he looked around. The place was covered in bikers for the first time ever, he should be happy, glad that he was out of that cursive hospital that he had to spend three more weeks in, glad that he didn't have to go home and instead shared a flat with Lugnut, and to be glad that his sister was happy with someone.
But he wasn't. Granted, he was glad to be out of the hospital, but the fact that there were only bikers at Big Mamma's…It just didn't seem right, even Lela had mentioned that he didn't seem to be happy since they got the small beach bar to themselves, and she was right. The only surfer who was in here, and she wasn't even in here at the minute, was Mack.
Butchy looked around, hearing the soft music play in the background as he saw his biker crew messing about, playing pool, but most of them seemed bored with nothing to do. No matter how much he hated to admit it, the Biker's were nothing without the Surfers. Heck, most of them, though they had their fights, were friends with each other when it came to it.
Sighing, Butchy leant his head against the wooden wall behind his seat as he stared at the ceiling above, his normally beautiful brown eyes dim. Tanner… He wanted to beat his head into a brick wall just to get rid of that stupid blonde surfer from his memory. All the time he had been in the hospital, or even when he had been out, all he could think about was the moron of a surfer who had marched his way into his head and stayed put.
"Hey Butch," the brown haired teen looked down and saw Lugnut sit down beside him and smiled a little. Butchy was still hurt, his side and stomach area permanently scarred; he couldn't even ride a bike because of his injuries…plus he didn't have a bike anymore, which meant he had to get a lift from Lugnut or Lela, who normally had Mack on the back of her bike – leaving him with Lugnut.
"What's up?"
"You just seem down, are you okay?"
Instead of worrying the other male, he decided to lie. "Yeah…Just thinkin' is all…" He smiled the best he could as he watched Lugnut shrug before leaving.
"You need to get the surfers back," Butchy jumped as he turned and saw Big Mamma and Lela looking at him from the side. "You need Tanner to come back, he lights up that fire in your eyes pretty boy." Big Mamma said with her hand on her hip before she wondered off to serve the others.
"She's right, Butchy…" Lela looked down sadly. "Mack said they're staying away because Tanner doesn't want to bother you…but you haven't been the same since Tanner left you in the hospital. You don't talk, you don't sing…"
"Maybe I would if I could move properly but if you haven't noticed I'm sort of wounded here!" Butchy snapped, regretting it once he saw Lela's face. He had never yelled at her and the sudden realisasion of that hit him like a ton of bricks. "Lela, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to –"
"It doesn't matter…" She replied, faking a smile. "I'm going to go check on Mack…" She stood and left.
"Lela!" Butchy called after her as he reached for her hand, only to yelp as he caught his side. Leaving him panting as he watched her leave, feeling Big Momma stare at him, or more like glare as he sighed again; damn it Tanner! He cursed. Where are you?!
Mack stood outside Big Momma's, her bare feet feeling the warm sand rush over them as wind blew it over her body. She smiled as she saw a shell and picked it up, tracing the edges of it with her finger until she suddenly heard the door to Big Momma's open and close – she looked up and her smile widened as she saw Lela – only to frown as she saw the look on her face.
"Lela? What's wrong?" Mack asked as she dropped the shell, slipping her flip-fops back onto her feet as she rushed over to see what was wrong.
Lela looked at her with tear filed eyes. "It's Butchy…"
Mack made her way up the steps and grabbed her waist with one hand, the other caressing her cheek. "He's a guy, Lela…" The two girls smiled briefly at Mack's comment though it didn't last.
"He hasn't been the same since Tanner left him at the hospital…"
Mack slowly nodded. She knew the movie well enough, and though her and Brady had decided to stay for a while until they figured things out, the fact that Butchy fall into Tanner's arms…and Lela in hers… but what if it was more than a script? Mack knew she liked Lela more than anyone else she had ever liked; it must be the same for Tanner and Butchy…
"Come on, Tanner needs to see Butchy…" And vise versa.
Later that night, Butchy looked out at the sea. He had managed to walk…or more like hobble, his way outside to lean against a panel nearby Big Momma's. He had to admit it, the sea looked inviting, but with his injuries he wouldn't be able to go in. It reminded him of a certain surfer, ocean blue eyes and a smile and half.
"I'm such an idiot…" Butchy mumbled as he leaned more against the panel before closing his eyes, the salty, sea air brushing through his hair as he eventually let out a deep breath. The damn moron… No…I'm the moron…
Why didn't he just kiss him?
There was a sudden sound from behind him.
"Butchy…"
Opening his eyes, Butchy let a smile shoot onto his face as he turned around as fast as he could in hopes that the voice that called his name belonged to Tanner, however, the bright smile that had taken over his face disappeared almost as quick as it appeared once he saw who it was…
