AN: I know it's been forever since I have updated this story, to be honest I didn't know if I wanted to finish it because of Paul being gone. It's just too hard to write about him right now but I am going to try my hardest to finish it because how it was supposed to originally end, I don't know if I am going to do it that way. We shall see how it goes. So here you go, another chapter for you! Thanks to everyone who reviewed! It means so much!
All mistakes are mine.
"Rox lets go!" Jackson yelled from outside the garage. Roxy appeared next to him smiling softly before walking past him. "Yo, what is your problem? You have been acting weird around me for the last week. What's up?"
"It's nothing, I just have a lot on my mind right now." Roxy wouldn't even look at him.
"Hey, get your asses back in here and clean up this mess." Leon poked his head out of the door. "This isn't your room Roxy."
"We were just going to get some food." Roxy yelled back.
"Now!" Leon disappeared.
"Yo Jackson, you ready to go?" Brian had pulled up and hopped out of his car.
"Where are you going?" Roxy asked ignoring Leon who was now walking towards her.
"I told you Brian was going to take me to the strip today."
"You didn't tell me that."
"Yes, I did. I told you yesterday while we were eating lunch and you were ignoring me the whole time."
"Whatever…" Roxy threw her hands up in the air and walked away.
"That was an invite for you to go!" Jackson yelled after her. "What is her problem?" He turned his attention to Leon.
"She's a girl, does she need an excuse for having an attitude all the time?"
"No something is seriously wrong. She won't talk to me, she ignores my phone calls…"
"What did you do?"
"I don't know!" Jackson yelled.
"Well you know her mom didn't show up last weekend which would be the third time in two months that she didn't come pick her up. Maybe it's that. Look, I will talk to her."
"You don't think it's because I have been hanging out with Brian do you?"
Leon shook his head. "No of course not. You should go, he is waiting."
"Can I get some help please?" Roxy yelled from the door of the garage.
Leon began to laugh as she patted Jackson on the back before turning around. "I'm coming!" Leon watched as Jackson climbed in the car with Brian before turning back towards the garage. He walked in and saw Roxy sitting down on the couch flipping through a magazine. "So…" He plopped down beside her. "You want to talk about it?"
"Talk about what?" She mumbled not taking her eyes off her reading.
"Why you have been such an ass lately?"
Her head shot up. "I have not!"
"Jackson said that you have been ignoring him, did something happen at the movies the other night?"
"No…"
"Then what is it? Is it your mom?"
"Please leave me alone."
"No, I am not going to leave you alone Rox, tell me what is wrong with you?"
"There is nothing wrong, I am tired of everyone asking me that!" she yelled.
"Do not raise your voice Rox, now there is something wrong with you and you need to tell me."
Roxy shook her head as she stood up from the couch and walked away. "Roxy!" Leon yelled.
"Rox, what's wrong?" Dom came out of the office. She stopped in her tracks and glared up at him.
"I'm fine, everyone can stop asking me that?" She walked past him. Leon shrugged his shoulders as he threw the towel down on the ground. "I'm going home, I don't feel good and really don't want to be here anymore."
"What did you do?" Dom asked Leon.
"Really? You are going to ask me what I did to my own daughter."
"Well she is mad at someone Leon."
"What is all the racket out here, I am trying to concentrate." Letty came out in her white wife beater.
"Roxy is mad about something, she has been biting everyone's head off this morning." Dom explained. "And Leon probably had something to do with it."
"Really?" Leon yelled.
"What did you do Leon?" Letty yelled.
"Screw both of you, I didn't do shit to that girl."
"I'll go talk to her." Letty groaned.
"No, just leave it alone. I will talk to her when I get home." Leon replied. "Can we just finish the day please?"
Brian stopped the car at the track and looked over at Jackson. "So whats going on with Roxy?"
"I don't know man, there is something going on that she isn't talking to me about."
"Well how did the movies go the other night?"
"It was fine, nothing happened. She seemed happy when I dropped her off at home. It was like something happened that night. Leon thinks its because her mom didn't show up…again, but its been going on for a week now."
"Well maybe she is just on her…"
"Okay!" Jackson. "I don't care about that."
"I'm just saying, girls get crazy during that time."
Jackson began to laugh. "So you and Mia, everything going good?"
It was Brian's turn to laugh. "Yeah we are good. We are taking things slow though so…"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Dom told me you guys use to race together, and that you were actually pretty good. But something happened to make everyone not like you anymore. What did you do?"
Brian sighed. "Was it that bad?"
"Yes."
"Tell me, please. I want to know."
"I met Dom quite some time ago, I had raced him and lost my car. That's how I came to be a part of the team. I met Mia and we instantly clicked. I fell in love with her actually despite what anyone tells you, I really did love her." Jackson nodded his head. "I was I guess more into myself than anything else. I was more worried about me than about what was going on around me. I had found that Dom and the team were doing something they shouldn't have been doing. It was the weekend of the race at the Desert. A huge race. Dom and the team were headed out and I confessed something to Mia…"
"What?"
Brian looked up at him. He didn't want to tell him to the truth. "I can just go look it up on the internet if I really wanted to know but I want to hear it from you."
"I was a cop Jackson. I was undercover the whole time and I pretended to be a part of the team to bring down Dom and the trucks they were hijacking."
Jackson's mouth fell open. "I went to help them when the trucks went wrong and Vince got shot. I went to try and talk to Dom, and then Jesse gets shot and killed. They blame me for what happened. I let Dom go that day, I gave him my car and then I went to prison for ten years. I did the time."
"Wow."
"Yeah, I didn't want you to know because that's not me anymore. I have changed…"
"Then why are you back?"
"To fix things. I wanted to fix them."
Jackson nodded his head. "It looks like you are doing a good job."
"Yeah…" Brian gave a soft smile. "Listen Jackson there is something that I need to talk to you about…"
"Can we talk about it after I race this baby?"
Brian stopped he couldn't help but smile. "Yes, we can."
"Good, because I am dying to get behind the wheel."
"You haven't broken your promise to me have you?"
"No of course not and that's also something that I wanted to talk to you about."
"What is it?" Brian eyed him.
"There's a race this weekend and I really want to go. I know Roxy does too, but Dom would flip. Is there anyway you can talk to him, please Brian?"
"Really?"
"Yes, its nothing big."
"Do you know anyone who is going to be there?"
"Yes I know plenty of people. Come on Brian, just this once please let me go. Talk to Dom, I know he will listen to you."
"He hates me Jackson."
Jackson began to laugh. "No he doesn't, he just is trying to be all tough. I know he still likes you man. Come on, just try."
"Fine, I will try. Now get in the car."
Jackson wrapped his arms around Brian's waist hugging him tightly. "Thank you so much!"
Brian nodded his head. He had to tell him. He needed to tell him.
The two guys arrived back at the garage just as Dom was pulling down the door. "Hey!" Jackson went running up to him.
"What's up?" Dom looked over at Brian.
"So Brian needs to talk to you…"
"Really Jackson?" Brian yelled.
"And what does Brian need to talk to me about?"
"I just think you should talk to him."
"Why don't you go on home, Roxy called for you." Dom was still looking at Brian.
"Okay, bye Brian. Thanks for today!" Jackson smiled. Brian nodded his head as he walked towards Dom.
"He seems to really like you." Dom pointed out.
"He's a good kid."
"Yeah he is."
"I love spending time with him, he has made me really think about things a lot lately."
"And?"
"I want to be in his life. I want him to know who I am."
"So then why haven't you told him?"
"I just don't know how."
"What is it that you wanted to talk to me about Brian?"
"Well Jackson happened to bring up a race that is going on this weekend that he really wants to go to, he thinks that I can talk you into letting him go."
"And whys that?"
"He said you still like me." Brian smirked. Dom chuckled.
"He's a kid."
"So what do you say? Let them live a little. Why not let them go this one time just to enjoy themselves. Let them live like we did before all the bullshit."
"I don't want him to have our life Brian."
"He already does. That boy knows more about cars than I do. He pays attention more than you think he does."
Dom shook his head. "We had the life didn't we? Before all that bullshit with the trucks, we had a pretty good life."
"Yeah we did."
"Fine, I will let him go. Under one condition."
"What?"
"Tell him who you are Brian before he finds out from someone else and shit hits the fan."
Brian nodded his head. "I'll tell him this weekend."
"Good." Dom gave a soft smile. "You want to come over for a beer?"
"What?"
"You heard me."
"Sure, yeah I would like that."
Dom nodded his head. Things were starting to look up for Brian O'Connor. If only he knew that one person knew who he was that didn't need to know.
Friday had finally come for the team, meaning the weekend was about to start. Brian hadn't told Jackson Dom was letting him go to the race, he wanted him to wait it out a bit. Brian was smiling from ear to ear when he walked into the garage that day.
"What's up with you?" Leon asked.
"Nothing, I'm fine."
"So?" Jackson ran up to him.
"So what?" Brian asked.
"Did you ask?"
"Ask who what?"
"Brian!"
Brian smiled at the boy. "Yes, I asked."
"And?" Jackson groaned.
"And…you are allowed to go, but!" Brian held up a finger. "I need to talk to you about something first."
"Okay what is it?"
"Not here, let's get dinner tonight and we can discuss everything."
"Okay! So I can go, I mean he is letting me go?"
"Yes he is letting you go."
"Thank you! Man you are awesome!" Jackson slapped Brian's back. "Rox! Did you hear that, they are letting me go tomorrow night?"
"Good for you." Roxy smirked.
"Come on Rox, I thought everything was okay."
"I'm fine Jackson, just leave it alone."
"Is it about your mom?"
Roxy shot up from the couch and glared at him. "Let's not mention my mom…"
"Rox, just talk to me."
"I don't want to Jackson, can you not see that?" She yelled. He turned away from her as everyone's attention was now on them.
"Okay, let's go just go for a walk or something."
"No."
"Rox, what did I do?"
"Why don't you ask him?" She pointed to Brian.
"Ask him what? If this is about your mom please let's go for a walk and we can talk about it."
"FUCK MY MOM!" Roxy yelled. Jackson jumped back. "Let's talk about family shall we Jackson?"
"Roxy what is your problem?" Leon yelled at her.
"No!" She cried. "Everyone in this room is a liar and I am tired of people lying about everything."
"What are you talking about?" Jackson asked. "Who is lying?"
"I was at home the other night after the movies, my dad thought I was asleep but I wasn't, I walked into the room and heard him talking to Dom about Brian…"
"Roxy don't." Leon begged.
"Why? Huh? You have been lying to me this whole time, so why not?" The tears streamed down her face.
"Roxy there is a telephone call for you!" Leon yelled from inside the living room. Roxy jumped off her bed and went running to the phone.
"Hello…hey mom." Roxy looked over at Leon who stopped what he was doing. "Yeah, it's okay. You are coming this weekend right...why not?...Mom I have been waiting to see you for a month now…you what?..." Leon continued to look over at her. "So you are asking me to not see you for a while?...yeah…no…that's fine."
"Rox…" Leon whispered.
"Sure mom whatever you want. I've been busy anyways….sure. Bye." Roxy slammed the phone on the receiver. She refused to look over at her dad as she turned and walked away.
"Rox…" Leon spoke.
"We have to go." Her voice was monotone.
"Roxy will you talk to me?"
"Its fine, okay. We need to go." She disappeared in her room for a moment before coming back out. Her voice cracked as she looked up at her dad. "I'm fine."
"Baby…"
"Dad…don't."
He nodded his head at her. "Okay, come on then. We are going to be late." He whispered to her.
Roxy remembered the phone call between her mother which began to make her blood boil. She was angry and hurt. Her mother had a new boyfriend so she needed time with him and didn't have time for Roxy anymore. Her heart ached. All she wanted to do was make the pain go away. She wanted it all just to go away.
"Roxy…" Jackson whispered. He tried to be discreet but everyone's attention was now on them. "Please, tell me…"
Leon walked over to her grabbing her arm. "No!" She screamed. "I'm so tired of people lying and saying they are going to do something and they don't do it, I'm tired of people lying to me. Why don't we just put it out there shall we?"
"Roxy I am begging to please not do this." Leon looked up at Dom.
"Rox, come over here."
"No, I want to know what is going on." Jackson yelled. "Someone needs to tell me something."
"How about you ask him?" Roxy pointed at Brian. "Or him!" She pointed at Dom. No one spoke. Roxy closed her eyes as the tears fell down her face. "Brian's your dad Jackson, and everyone in this room knew…"
"What?"
Leon sighed as he let go of her arm.
"Is it true?" Jackson looked at Brian then over at Dom. "Is it?"
"Yes Jackson, it's true." Dom was the first to speak.
"Jackson I…" Brian moved forward.
"No!" Jackson yelled. "You knew this whole time and you never once mentioned it to me."
"I was going…"
"You all knew and you made me look like an idiot. This whole time…"
"Jackson…" Roxy whispered.
"No…you lied too." He jerked away from her and ran towards the door.
"Jackson!" Dom yelled running after him but he was already gone.
Roxy covered her mouth as she sat down on the couch. She sobbed into her hands as the room remained silent. Jackson was gone, no one had a clue where he was going. Leon sat down gently next to her wrapping his arms around her body bringing him into his lap.
"Shhh, you're okay."
"I have to go find him." Brian replied.
"Lets go then." Dom replied.
