A/N: Past/Lingering(?) Zoeythian. Based off a video called 'Pathcode #SUHO' (It's on YouTube if you're curious). This story is more after the relationship has ended, and how Rythian copes with it, rather than a present relationship, with a little added fantasy stuff.

I slowly open my eyes as the dim morning light shone through the window. I sat up tiredly, a dull pain in the back of my skull. I couldn't remember anything of the night, or day, before which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. It was most likely the same routine that I followed every day anyway. My body remained still for a few moments, letting the dizziness settle down before I moved. Slowly I stood from the couch – I rarely slept in my bed anymore – and ran my hand through my messed up hair. Stumbling across the room, I grasped at the doorframe to the bathroom so I didn't fall. When I saw myself in the mirror, I saw just how much of a mess I was. My face was pale while dark circles were almost half-way down my cheeks. The darkness surrounded my red, bloodshot eyes. The amount of fat on my face had reduced dramatically; I suppose that's not surprising because I'm starving, and not in the hungry way. I'm starving to death. Life seems so...pointless now. Why bother sustaining myself?

"Zoeya! Hurry up!"

"I can't!"

"Zoeya, grab my hand!"

"Help me Rythian!"

"ZOEYA!"

"It's coming!"

"NO!"

I shook myself, shifting the mask around my mouth. I refused to take it off, now more so than ever. From the corner of my eye I caught the glimpse of fleeting shadows. Typical. My body felt tired, yet my feet carried me outside. Like always, I would go outside into the forest. It's not like I could do much else. The path, although in disuse by others, was so familiar to me. No one ever came to the forest but me; there was no one else living around here. It was nice, I suppose. Just being left to my own thoughts. I climbed over a fallen tree, my hand clenching around the bark briefly. The touch left a slight tingling on my skin, causing me to stop. It was familiar yet wrong. I've only felt like this before... My body tensed with unease, my feet quickly carrying me away. Glancing around nervously, I was only met with what I always was. Trees, fallen logs, leaves and dirt; there was nothing special in this forest. But, then...why did I have this feeling?

The sun was bright, but not blinding or too hot. She talked happily about various things that only she would probably understand. I didn't mind. I wouldn't change her for the world. I just smiled as she spoke, nodding occasionally to indicate I was listening - she probably wasn't paying attention anyway. Her hand slipped into mine as we sat together. It sent a strange but pleasurable feeling through my body. Her hand then left, leaving a slight tingling sensation where I wanted more. I wanted to hold her hand again, but she was busy talking so I didn't bother. There would be other times, I guess.

The forest changed into a field. As I left I almost felt relieved. It felt so constricting and...wrong. The place I would usually be most peaceful in turned into the place I hated. I hated it yet...that touch. That feeling. It was the same. How, I don't know, but...it was the same. Maybe that is why I hated it. Something so dear to me falsely recreated. The field was bare, with short wheat growing all around. I don't know whose farm this was, since I didn't know of anyone who lived nearby; it must be natural, I suppose. Either way, I didn't care at the moment. My mind was clouded and hurting. Memories of her flashed in my mind, causing the pain to change into an ache. I wanted to see her again. Desperately. And if this was the only way...then so be it.

We must have spent a long time there, as it was beginning to grow dark. I stood up, my eyes focused on the girl I loved. Yet, when my eyes broke away for a moment, I realised the dark was no normal darkness. It was spewing from the forest behind us, crawling up into the sky above. It was here.

"Zoeya..." I started slowly, trying not to alert her. She, clueless as always, merely looked up at me, a smile on her face. "We need to go." I looked down at Zoeya, holding my hand out for her. "Come on." She went to glance behind her, but I stopped her, instead taking her hand and pulling her to her feet. "Run." I whispered, holding her hand tight as we started running.

I haul myself onto the ledge, and knew that moment that I had made the wrong choice. Why was I so stupid as to leave her alone? My hand was reaching out to her, but we couldn't reach each other.

"Zoeya, hurry up!" I shouted, desperately trying to reach her.

"I can't!" She replied, panic seeping into her tone. She was scared and I left her.

"Zoeya, grab my hand!" My voice was full with as much panic as hers was, even if I wanted to keep calm.

"Help me Rythian!" I lowered myself as much as I could, and she jumped as high as she could. But only our fingertips brushed, creating that same tingling.

"ZOEYA!" My voice became raw from my scream, my panic rising when the shadows began to creep up behind her. She looked behind, seeing the shadows.

"It's coming!" Her voice was quiet, yet still urgent. Our eyes met, and my heart shattered. She had accepted it. Even if she was scared, she accepted it. I couldn't let her. I still tried to reach out for her, but she didn't even try.

"NO!" I shouted, a force pulling me away as the shadows enveloped Zoeya. She didn't scream, she didn't cry. She didn't make a single sound. It hurt me more that way, for some reason. The way she just accepted this... I'm sorry.

I soon stood at the edge of a pool. An empty pool. I stood there for a few moments, my dull eyes barely registering the situation. Looking back, there was still nothing. I knew there was SOMETHING. Maybe it was here? I jump down into the pool, staggering across to the opposite side. My back hit the wall hard as I slid down so I was sitting. One leg was out straight whilst the other sat comfortably bent closer to my chest. My hands felt heavy like lead, unable to move from where they lay either side of my body. It was coming. I could feel it now. It was coming to claim me. My eyes stared blankly ahead, accepting my fate. It was only a matter of time, I suppose. I could see the shadows hesitate at the edge of the opposite end of the pool. Two words leave my mouth, and then the shadows come crashing towards me like waves. There was only a few moments before I was enveloped, all light lost.

"It's time."

A/N: I'm working through the requested pairings when I can. I've written another pairing that just needs a little tweaking before I can upload it. But, as always, feel free to suggest more if you'd like to.
