It had been a couple of hours since the gang had defeated the Pewter City Gym and earned their first badges in the Kanto Region, signed their witness statements and Christie had gotten her tank top back from the Pewter Gym, they hadn't heard anything from Karen or Team Rocket despite the fact that Steve had gone back to Pewter City to grab some food supplies and as it was getting late they had set up their campsite at the top of a fairly large hill that had a large lake at the bottom of the east side of the hill and a forest just to the north of the area whilst some tall grass lay to the west of the hill, a few miles north of Pewter City and had let their Pokémon out of their balls so they could stretch their legs.
"You had any luck Christie?" Steve asked as he sat down next to her, Christie was in the middle of doing some fishing hoping to catch a new Water Type Pokémon as a potential replacement for Magikarp and had removed her hoody due to how hot the weather was and let her hair down to relax a bit more whilst her Eevee sat next to her and she looked up.
"If I had any luck with that I wouldn't still be here." Christie responded with a sigh as she glanced up at Steve. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Go ahead." Steve answered and Christie put her rod to the side.
"What did you see in Karen exactly? And I mean besides her boobs!" Christie responded and Steve sweat-dropped.
"Actually that was pretty much what I saw in her originally." Steve responded and Christie face-palmed. "Give me a break, I was a teenager and she had massive boobs, I only broke up with her after she cheated on me."
"If you ask me, you're better off without her." Christie said as she shifted her weight. "There's one other question I wanted to ask and it has to do with that Pokémon she sent out."
"You mean Chesnaught right?" Steve asked and she nodded. "Chesnaught is the evolved form of Kalos's grass type starter Chespin and yeah, she got it after I got Fennekin and Ann got Froakie."
"So you lied about not knowing who got the Grass Type starter?" Christie asked and Steve nodded. "After meeting her I can't blame you."
"She wasn't that bad at first but as our relationship deteriorated she started to show her true colors." Steve responded with an annoyed sigh. "She was also my first opponent at Kalos Pokémon League, the one I told you about?"
"She was the one who you ended up dropping more innuendos around her than a porno movie?" Christie asked and Steve nodded. "She must've loved that."
"Loved it to the point where she thought that I wanted her back." Steve responded with an annoyed sigh. "You couldn't convince me to take her back with a million dollars and don't even get me started on how she acts around any female friends I make who aren't called Ann or aren't in their late teens like we are."
"Yeah, I noticed that." Christie said as she shook her head. "Honestly I've always found big boobs overrated anyway and this is coming from a girl whose pretty well off in that department, they might attract that boys but big boobs are murder on your back just for starters."
"I've heard as much from several girls I knew from Foster Care." Steve responded with a nod before lying back on the grass. "It's such a relief to have our first badges, isn't it?"
"Tell me about it, my mom pretty much said as much when I called her when we were at the Pokémon Center after your Gym Battle." Christie responded with a small grin on her face. "By the way, did you send back Starmie and Meowstic?"
"Yeah, I had Sycamore send back Pidgeot and another Pokémon." Steve responded with a nod before opening up a Pokeball revealing a Talonflame. "He should help me if the food thief is a Skarmory." Steve added as Christie got her Pokedex out and pointed it at the Pokémon.
"Talonflame, the Scorching Pokémon and the evolved form of Fletchinder, in the fever of an exciting battle it showers embers from the gaps between its feathers and takes to the air." Christie's Pokedex entry read out and she patted the Talonflame on the head with her free hand before pocketing her Pokedex.
"Technically it's the fully evolved form of Fletchling which was one of the first Pokémon I caught originally." Steve explained as Talonflame took a liking to Christie. "However like you he suffered a crippling injury during the Kalos League and he's been a reserve Pokémon ever since."
"What injury was that?" Christie asked and Steve pointed to Talonflame's left wing.
"Broke it in a battle against a Snorlaxx, he technically won but as Talonflame was unable to battle it was declared a draw due to a technicality and the wing never really recovered." Steve explained and Christie shook her head sadly. "That was one of the main factors that contributed to me finishing in the Top 32, only reason I didn't have him send over Charizard was because of his old age."
"You think he'll be okay against a healthy flying type?" Christie asked and Steve shook his head.
"I don't know but I'll guess I'll find out when we encounter the Pokémon." Steve added before calling back Talonflame when he saw Dalton and Ann approaching them. "What's up guys?" Steve asked once they were close enough to them.
"Well, whilst you two were talking we were discussing how to deal with the Pokémon that's been breaking into campsites and we think we have a solution, namely one of us stays up and when the Pokémon breaks in they engage it in battle." Ann responded and Dalton nodded in agreement. "That's the good news."
"The bad news is we need someone's backpack to act as bait, I suggested that Ann use her old one but she told me that she went back to the shop and sold it." Dalton responded as he folded his arms. "We couldn't decide on who should volunteer so we decided to ask what you two think."
"Well, I think it's pretty obvious that no one's going to volunteer their backpack." Steve commented and Christie nodded in agreement before Steve got an idea and reached into his backpack. "I say we draw straws to solve this."
"Whoever draws the shortest straw has to volunteer their backpack?" Christie asked and Steve nodded as he held up four straws each, each trainer drew a straw but the person who drew the shortest straw was Christie herself. "I just had to open my big mouth, didn't I?" Christie sighed in annoyance before removing her backpack and emptying it.
"To make up for it I'll go back to Pewter City in the morning and buy you a new one." Steve assured her and Christie grinned at that. "That just leaves one problem, namely who has to stay up?" Steve added and the others thought for a moment. "I volunteer." Steve added and the others face-faulted, Steve grabbed onto Christie's arm to keep her from falling in the lake and once she had regained her balance Steve continued. "Here's why, Christie and Ann enjoy their beauty sleep and Dalton sleeps like a log, my nightmares about my dad will keep me up for ages so that means I'm perfect for the job."
"And, of course, the fact that it's likely a Skarmory has nothing to do with it!" Christie responded sarcastically and Steve sweat-dropped. "I could totally stay up long enough!"
"Christie, we talked with your mom after I saved you from the Beedrill swarm, she said that you always go to bed early and not even a Heavy Metal Concert playing in your bedroom could wake you up." Steve responded and Christie sweat-dropped when she heard that.
"And as someone who shared a room with her back at the Pewter City Pokémon Center I can back up those claims, when Team Rocket attacked I had to bang pots and pans together to wake her up." Ann added and Christie gave her a mock death glare. "I may like my beauty sleep as well but I can still stay up long enough!"
"What she said." Dalton nodded in response as he folded his arms.
"And besides that it's my backpack that's being used so I should be the one who stays up!" Christie added and the four trainers glared at each other.
"Okay, I think it's pretty obvious that negotiation isn't an option." Steve added with a frown. "And if we stay here arguing about it the Pokémon will have plenty of time to break in and steal our food by the time we've decided on a course of action."
"I'd suggest that we decide via a Pokémon battle but that would be even worse because whoever's Pokémon wins will be too tired to go after the wild Pokémon." Christie added and the others nodded when they realized that she had a point. "Is anyone up for drawing straws again?" Christie asked and the others nodded in response.
"Okay, this time we'll decide on who draws the longest straw." Steve added only to have the straws snatched out of his hand by Christie. "What gives?"
"How do we know that you won't hold onto the longest straw for yourself?" Christie asked and Steve went to argue her point but backed off. "I thought so!"
"And how do we know that you won't do the same?" Ann asked and Christie shook her head.
"Because I don't want to catch another flying type until either Pidgey or Spearrow are evolved?" Christie asked and the others paused before nodding, they proceeded to draw straws but this time it was Steve that won. "Off course you won."
"It's destiny, what can I say?" Steve asked with a grin and the others rolled their eyes in response. "Okay, whilst we're at it why don't we plan the journey to the next gym?" Steve offered as he got out his Town Map and the others nodded. "Let's get the basics out of the way, the next gym is the Cerulean City Gym in Cerulean City, it'll take us longer to get there but there's a few Pokémon Centers dotted along the way."
"The next town, according to the map, is Terracotta Town, a small seaside town where they hold where they hold unofficial Pokémon Contests." Ann added as she looked at the map and Dalton and Christie scowled at that. "Not a fan of Pokémon Contests?"
"I just find them boring as all hell." Christie responded and Dalton nodded in response. "Never really saw the point personally."
"Same here, I think we'll skip any contests their holding." Dalton added and the others nodded in agreement. "Still, there should be a Pokémon Center there so if our teams are tired we can stop there for a rest."
"The fact that we'll be able to sleep on comfy beds when we get there helps." Steve responded and the others nodded in agreement. "To get there we just need to make it through that forest and take a right, there's probably some Wild Pokémon in the forest so we can use them to train up our Pokémon if need be." Steve said before pocketing the map. "Once we're there we'll plan our next course of action and take it from there." Steve added and the others nodded in agreement. "Okay, so we have the backpack, we have the trainer, we just need some non-essential food stuffs to stuff in the bag and we'll be all set."
"I'll go back to Pewter City and buy as much candy as I can afford." Dalton decided and Steve nodded in response. "I got five dollars from the gym battle so that should be more than enough candy."
"That is unless they started charging a dollar for candy." Ann responded and Dalton frowned at that. "And since that leaves me with nothing to do I'll go with you." Ann decided and Dalton nodded in response before they walked off and left the campsite.
"Christie, are you sure you're okay about sacrificing your backpack?" Steve asked as he shifted his weight. "I mean from the looks of things you've had that backpack for a while."
"Yeah, I've had it since I was the captain of my school's soccer team." Christie responded with a nod as she leaned back. "But as nostalgic as it is for me it's starting to show its age and the brief time Combusken spent in it didn't help so I was thinking about replacing it anyway."
"You could always hang on to the remains." Steve responded and Christie shook her head.
"They would just be taking up unnecessary space if my new backpack that you're going to buy for me." Christie responded before grinning. "And don't go for a cheap one either."
"Have you always been that picky?" Steve asked and Christie shook her head, unbeknownst to them Steve's Litleo had approached Christie's Eevee and started whispering in his ear causing the Eevee to make a sound that sounded like it was giggling.
"Not really but since your buying me a new backpack I may as well make the most of it!" Christie responded as she adjusted one of her bra straps and stood up to stretch her legs, however as she went to walk around Eevee walked in front of her foot causing her to trip over the Evolution Pokémon and land on top of Steve in a way that made it look like they were going to make out before he could react. "Eevee, did you do that on purpose?!"
"Eevee, Eevee." Eevee responded before it started whistling innocently as did Litleo, Christie rolled her eyes before turning to Steve.
"Well, this is awkward." Christie muttered as she lay on top of Steve.
"I'm not complaining." Steve responded as he started feeling her up only to get his hand slapped away by Christie. "Oh come on! Dalton and Ann won't be back for a few minutes at least and no-one's around, who's gonna catch us in the act besides some wild Pokémon?"
"You mean besides Litleo and Eevee?" Christie asked before glancing behind her and realizing that the two Pokémon had gone back up the hill and joined the rest of the Pokémon. "You know what, maybe your right." Christie responded with a grin as Steve started feeling her up again and she returned the favor, as the feeling up started to get more intimate Steve started to lift her tank-top up and over her breasts to the point where it wasn't even covering her bra, however Steve could complete take off her top so that they could start kissing…..
"You know if you guys just wanted to make out you could've just gone into one of the tents!" Dalton commented as he and a giggling Ann approached them with two bags full of candy in hand, Christie quickly rolled off Steve before pulling down her top and Steve sat up before quickly crossing his legs to hide his boner. "There was no need to send us back to Pewter City just so you two could get some alone time by the lake!"
"Screw you!" Christie responded with a laugh as she finished pulling down her top and regained her composure. "How long have you been at the campsite anyway?"
"Long enough to see the whole thing, we would've interrupted you sooner but Ann decided to see how far you got before realizing we were back." Dalton responded as he sat down. "It was the point where he started undressing you when we decided to interfere before you guys risked being arrested for indecent exposure."
"In other words you decided to cockblock me as soon as it was getting passed the foreplay stage!" Steve responded as he glared at the other trainers. "If we were still at the Pokémon center you two would've eaten a pillow to the face by now."
"Still would've been better than letting you eat out Christie whilst we tried to get some sleep." Dalton responded with a grin and Steve responded by giving him the middle finger. "You only have one?" Dalton asked and Steve shook his head.
"Dalton, the idea to throw you into the lake has been very tempting since you interrupted us, don't tempt me any further!" Steve warned him and Dalton quickly backed off. "So, are we all set?"
"Unless you want to pick up where you left off with Christie then yeah, we are." Ann responded as she and Dalton started loading the backpack full of candy whilst ignoring the glares from her brother and Christie. "We just need a good place to stick it." Ann said as she looked around.
"Over here!" Christie called out to them and Ann and Dalton walked to the bottom of the hill and saw that she was pointing to a tree with a low hanging branch. "I was thinking that we could use that to dry off our clothes if we go for a dip in the lake by accident as I'm prone to do but the wild Pokémon might see it as an easy steal."
"Good thinking, I can pretend to be asleep on the hill whilst keeping an eye out for the Pokémon and if it tries to escape further into the campsite you guys can corner it." Steve responded with a nod as an idea started to form in his head. "I swear, if this goes wrong after all this prep and their rude interruption Dalton's going for a dip!"
"Not my fault that you can't control your sexual urges around her!" Dalton responded and Steve rolled his eyes in response.
"Just ignore him Steve, if you two want to finish just go into Christie's tent and take it from there." Ann responded as she walked over to the tree and hanged the backpack by its lapels on the tree branch and, after a quick check the make sure that it was secure she turned to the others.
"Well, we're not going to do it now that you've killed the mood!" Christie responded as she folded her arms and Steve, reluctantly, nodded in response. "Besides your brother's balls are blue enough already without us risking someone else interrupting us!"
"Thanks for the reminder Christie." Steve responded as he rolled his eyes. "Seriously, why couldn't you just let us make out? That would've been my first make out session in ages."
"That would've been asking us to sit there whilst you two got further into your make out session and frankly it was awkward enough when you started taking off Christie's tank-top." Dalton responded and Steve just shook his head in response. "We may be traveling companions but that's where I draw the line, just saying."
"And conversely I draw the line at said make out sessions being interrupted just as they were getting good!" Christie responded as she finally stood up and gave Dalton a mock death glare. "Remind me to kick you in the balls later."
"Right, I won't remind you to kick me in the balls later." Dalton responded and Christie rolled her eyes before Dalton checked the time on his watch. "Right, I asked around whilst we were in Pewter City and according to the trainers who's food was stolen by the wild Pokémon the attacks happened after nine in the evening."
"What time is it now?" Christie asked and Dalton showed her his watch. "Half nine, I think we'd better put the plan into motion." Christie added and the others nodded before she, Dalton and Ann climbed up the hill and Steve made himself comfy as the others called back their Pokémon.
"Delphox, Litleo, Pidgeot, Nidoran, come here." Steve called out to the Pokémon that were in outside their balls and they approached him. "First Litleo, thanks for attempting to get me laid even if it was in vain." Steve said with a grin and the Litleo grinned at that. "Second, I need to call you guys back for this plan to work." Steve explained and the Pokémon nodded before letting him call them back one by one with Nidoran being the last Pokémon to return to its ball. "And now, I wait." Steve thought before resting his hands behind his head and closing his eyes.
*meanwhile*
"That was close." Butch muttered under his breath as he and Cassidy left Pewter City via a car, neither of them were driving as a lower member of Team Rocket was driving the car and the windows where blackened to prevent the police from identifying them. "Ann and Steve are still as formidable as ever."
"I'd expect nothing less from them." Cassidy responded as she rested her hand on her chin. "I think it's time we updated our teams, they are too familiar with our current teams and their strengths and weaknesses."
"Agreed, I say we go a bit further than they are at the moment, say to the routes beyond Saffron City?" Butch offered and Cassidy turned to him. "There's bound to be some good Pokémon there."
"Good thinking, how long until we get there?" Cassidy nodded in agreement before turning to the grunt driving the car.
"I'll have to stop for fuel first but we should get there by tomorrow morning." The grunt responded and the two higher agents nodded.
"I can't believe it! I've actually gone a whole conversation with no one getting my name wrong!" Butch thought with a satisfied smirk as Cassidy grinned.
"Don't be afraid to stop for breaks, it wouldn't be in anyone's interest for you to fell asleep at the wheel causing the car to crash." Cassidy added and the grunt nodded as he continued to drive. "We keep this up Patch and we'll have their Pokémon in no time!"
"I knew it was too good to be true!" Butch thought as his smirk quickly turned into a frown. "The name's Butch not Patch!"
*later on*
"And that's my last can of Red Bull!" Steve commented with a sigh as he tossed the empty can with the rest which has formed a large pile near the lake a pile that he planned to clear up once he was done capturing the Pokémon. "So now what will I do to pass the time before the Pokémon arrives? Imagine the sex I would've had with Christie if Dalton and Ann had taken longer?" Steve thought before quickly dismissing those thoughts. "As great as that mental image is I'd be too busy jerking off to make an attack against the Pokémon if it arrives." Steve thought before hearing what sounded like a Pokémon's cry and closing his eyes before getting back into position.
"Skar…." The familiar cry of a Skarmory rang out and Steve opened one eye to be sure, sure enough a Skarmory had already clawed through Christie's backpack, or what remained of it, to get at the food inside.
"So it is a Skarmory! And now's my chance to capture it." Steve thought as he activated a Pokeball. "Talonflame I chose you!" Steve tossed the Pokeball and the Skarmory span around before seeing Steve and his Talonflame. "If you're hungry you don't have to break into campsites Skarmory! I'm sure some trainers would be more than happy to feed you!" Steve tried to reason with the Skarmory but it didn't listen instead hitting Steve with a gust that knocked Talonflame of balance and him on his backside before taking off leaving the candy in the process. "Oh no you don't, you're not getting away that easily! Talonflame, go after him!" Steve commanded and Talonflame took flight before flying after the Skarmory with Steve doing his best to keep up. "Talonflame's still pretty damn fast even with his injured wing but unless he attacks Skarmory there's no way he's going to be able to catch him." Steve thought as Talonflame caught up to the Skarmory.
"Skarmory….." The Pokémon shouted before spinning around and charged at Talonflame at high speed.
"Talonflame, Flamethrower…." Steve went to order an attack but cut himself short when he realized that the two Pokémon where flying over the lake. "If Talonflame hits the Flamethrower there will be a good chance that Skarmory will land in the lake if knocked out which could mean drowning, even if I managed to toss a Pokeball in time the water would ruin the Pokeball." Steve thought as Skarmory closed in on Talonflame. "Talonflame, dodge the attack and try to get Skarmory over dry land!" Steve commanded and Talonflame nodded before flying under Skarmory's attack and flying towards the shore where Steve was at the moment, fortunately for them Skarmory took the bait and as soon as it was over dry land Steve turned to Talonflame. "Now, use Flamethrower!"
"SKARMORY!" The Skarmory shouted before charging at Talonflame again with an attack that Steve quickly recognized as Steel Wing from his gym battle against Tristan earlier that day, fortunately for him Talonflame ended up being faster on the draw and let loose with the Flamethrower knocking out the Skarmory.
"Pokeball, go!" Steve called out as he quickly tossed an empty Pokeball at the Skarmory, the Pokeball made contact with the Skarmory's body, opened up and the Skarmory was absorbed inside and after a few seconds of resisting was successfully captured. "I caught a Skarmory!" Steve exclaimed with a massive grin as he picked up the Pokeball and walked to the side of the lake that the gang considered to be part of their campsite after Skarmory's Pokeball disappeared being sent to Professor Sycamore's lab in Kalos and he recalled Talonflame, when he returned however he saw the massive amount of litter that had accumulated and sweat-dropped. "Yeah, I have some things to do before I head back to Pewter City."
*the next morning*
By the time the rest of the gang had woken up the mountain of empty Red Bull cans, remains of Christie's backpack and Steve himself where long gone and that was leaving the others more than a little concerned.
"Where's Steve?" Christie asked as she finished tying her hair up in a ponytail and glanced around, whilst the others were still in their regular outfits she was wearing a short red tank-top, blue jean shorts and black boots. "I thought he'd still be on the hill."
"He isn't and I've checked his tent, its empty." Dalton responded as he shook his head. "What I can tell is that your old backpack is gone as well."
"Yeah, that helps!" Christie muttered sarcastically as she folded her arms. "Maybe the wild Pokémon managed to lose him?"
"Come on Chris give me a little more credit than that!" Steve's voice rang out and Christie looked up seeing Steve walking up the hill behind her with a brand new backpack in hand. "Okay, first the good news, this is for you." Steve added before tossing the backpack at Christie and she caught it with little problem. "And now for the really good news, meet my new team member!" Steve added before activating a Pokeball and tossing it to the ground, it opened up revealing the Skarmory that he had caught last night.
"Don't tell me, he was the food thief?" Ann asked and Steve nodded. "What Pokémon did you send to Sycamore to get it?"
"I sent back Talonflame, despite my initial concerns about his injured wing he performed great and Sycamore thinks that….." Steve trailed off before yawning into his hand. "…he's finally on the road to recovery."
"That's great news." Christie responded and the others nodded in agreement, at first she thought that Steve was yawning because he had just gotten up but then she saw his bloodshot eyes. "Steve, don't tell me that you were up all night!"
"I was." Steve added with another yawn causing the others to face-fault. "Whilst I was in Pewter City I brought about eight four packs of red-bull cans, by the time I caught Skarmory I had drank them all."
"Tell me I didn't just hear that sentence?" Christie asked as her eyes widened and Steve shook his head. "Steve, how are you not bouncing around more than a Spoink?!"
"Give me a break, I didn't drink them all in one go!" Steve asserted before yawning again. "Every time I got tired I drank a whole can to keep me up, by the time I caught Skarmory I had probably amounted enough littering fines to bankrupt a small business so I had Delphox help me clear them up, after that I went back to Pewter City, swapped Talonflame for Skarmory, brought your new backpack…..and once I realized how badly I needed the bathroom I broke a land speed record running back to the Pokémon Center."
"And you did all that on no sleep?" Dalton asked with a raised eyebrow.
"What can I say? I drank a lot of red-bull!" Steve responded before yawning again. "All though now that you mention it I'm off to bed." Steve added before entering his tent and not even bothering to close the tent door before slumping down on the ground, after a few seconds he started snoring and Christie shook her head as she closed the tent door.
"I say we give him a few hours to catch up on his sleep, it's still early in the morning." Christie suggested and Ann and Dalton nodded in agreement. "We'll just have to make sure that he wakes up in time for breakfast."
"So in other words, don't start on breakfast until he wakes up." Ann responded as she sat down next to the campfire. "You guys have any suggestions for killing time until then?"
"I'd suggest campfire songs but I got booed off the stage the last time, and only time, I went to a karaoke club." Christie responded as she shook her head and took a seat, it was then that they realized that Steve had neglected to return his Skarmory to his Pokeball and that the large flying type had made itself comfy next to Christie. "So this thing was the Pokémon that had been robbing campsites?"
"Apparently and since the rest of the food is untouched…" Dalton responded as he took a peek inside the food supply bag. "I'm willing to believe it."
"What did Steve do with the candy that we used as bait anyway?" Ann wondered as she glanced towards Steve's tent. "I mean he has a habit of eating a lot when he can't get any sleep at night…..I just answered my own question."
"Honestly I'm just glad that Steve stuck to his word and brought me a new backpack." Christie said as she glanced towards the backpack. "I would've been pissed if he hadn't."
"More pissed or less pissed then when we interrupted your make out session yesterday?" Dalton asked and Christie glared at him for reminding her of that, however before Christie could retort a familiar voice rang out with a very annoying laugh. "Please tell me that's not Karen?"
"Oh, it is." Karen responded once she stopped laughing and Christie turned around seeing the female trainer approaching their campsite. "I thought Steve said that you weren't dating him but I guess a girl with small boobs is attracted to a guy with an even smaller dick."
"First off my boobs aren't THAT small they're just small compared to those plastic boulders on your chest!" Christie snapped at her as she stood up. "Second, that was a one of thing interrupted by….."
"Interrupted by Steve prematurely ejaculating?" Karen interrupted her and Christie face-faulted.
"No, interrupted by these two…." Christie trailed off as she motioned to Dalton and Ann. "Steve wasn't even naked at the time and I was just a few seconds away from raising my arms to let him remove my tanktop when they interrupted so no, I didn't see his dick size."
"Take it from a girl who has seen it, it's nothing special!" Karen retorted and Christie glared at her.
"What do you want Karen?" Ann interjected as she tried to steer the conversation down a different path. "Wasn't the argument you had with Christie at the gym yesterday enough?"
"Oh it would've been if I hadn't overheard Dalton mentioning the make out session that got cut-short." Karen responded with a smirk before pointing her finger up and waving it in a condescending manner. "Little tip Dalton, not as little as Steve's dick but still pretty little, just because this is your campsite doesn't mean other people can't hear you talking."
"Here's another tip for you, talking trash about someone behind their back is a bad idea!" Steve's voice rang out and the trainers looked up seeing him emerge from the tent with an annoyed look on his face. "Thanks for interrupting my beauty sleep Karen, as if I didn't dislike you enough already!"
"You're welcome." Karen responded sarcastically with a grin. "Besides, you're the one I wanted to see anyway!"
"For the last time you'd have to pay me to take you back!" Steve responded as he pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance.
"And that would be prostitution but hey! At least you're dressed for the part!" Christie chimed in and Karen glared at her.
"Pot calling the kettle black, that's all I'm going to say on that!" Karen retorted and Christie fumed at that comment. "And no, I've moved on from you and based on what I've heard about your exploits with her, so have you! I'm here to challenge you to a three on three match Steve!"
"You can't be serious?" Steve asked and Karen nodded. "Why would I waste my time on that? You don't even have a Kanto Badge!"
"Read it and weep." Karen responded simply before getting out her trainer's case and opening it up, sure enough the Boulder Badge was now occupying a slot in the case. "I won it about two hours after you left, after I left the gym I heard you guys had set up camp nearby and decided that it would be worth my while to challenge you."
"So why wait until the following morning?" Dalton asked and Karen sweat-dropped with an annoyed sigh.
"By the time the gym battle was over it was late, really, really late, and rather than have my stuff stolen by the wild Pokémon again I decided to spend an extra night at the Pokémon Center." Karen explained and Steve quickly glanced towards his newly caught Skarmory.
"That's right! I meant to spread the word that I had caught the wild Pokémon behind the food thefts but didn't get time due to me being really tired." Steve thought before grinning. "You know what Karen? You have a match! I recently caught a new Pokémon that I want to try out anyway!"
"Oh, now this will be interesting!" Karen said as Steve's Skarmory walked up to him. "You're kidding? That's your new Pokémon?"
"Not only is Skarmory here my new Pokémon but he's also the Pokémon thief." Steve explained and Karen's eyes narrowed at that. "And I've been itching for a rematch against you anyway, ready for your first battle as part of my team Skarmory?" Steve asked and the Pokémon nodded eagerly.
"Err, Steve, can we talk privately for a minute?" Christie asked and Steve nodded before walking over to her.
"Fine but if I hear her having an orgasm I'm leaving!" Karen responded and Christie flipped her off as they walking down the hill.
"Okay, just so we're clear…." Christie trailed off before glancing over her shoulder to make sure Karen couldn't hear them. "What happened between us yesterday evening, you want to make it a serious thing or just a one of thing?"
"Ideally and honestly I'd like it to be permanent but I want you to be okay with it first." Steve responded and Christie thought for a moment.
"Well, Steve hasn't exactly been subtle about the fact that he wants to get in my pants, the interrupted make-out session pretty much cemented that fact and he is a nice guy once you get past the fact that he's a pervert…and the son of a Serial Rapist/Murderer." Christie thought with a frown. "But on the other hand I met him only a few days ago and the last time I rushed into a relationship was with my first boyfriend." Christie thought before turning to Steve. "How about I get back to you on that once I make up my mind?" Christie offered and Steve nodded in response. "Like I like before, I've had a few boyfriends myself but I don't want to rush into anything, I made that mistake with my first boyfriend and he now lives on Cinnabar Island."
"I hear you, though you did seem comfortable being on top of me during foreplay." Steve responded and Christie rolled her eyes.
"Didn't I tell you that I'm not exactly a virgin?" Christie asked and Steve nodded once he remembered that conversation. "And now onto the other thing, Steve, Skarmory is untested in battle and Karen's not exactly an amateur, are you sure you want to use him against her Pokémon?"
"I know it's risky but then again you used Eevee against me when we first met." Steve responded and Christie shook her head.
"Bad example, Eevee was the only Pokémon I had at the time." Christie pointed out and Steve nodded when he realized that she had a point.
"Good point." Steve admitted before shaking his head. "Look, Skarmory may be untested but he held his own against Talonflame and Talonflame was a pretty seasoned veteran of my team before he broke his wing, he'll do fine."
"I hope your right I don't want to hear her gloat about beating you." Christie responded and Steve shuddered before they made their way back up the hill.
"So, you two are finally done making out huh?" Karen asked and Steve shook his head refusing to answer that question. "Like I said, this will be a three on three battle and I hope you've brought your a-game." Karen said as she activated a Pokeball. "Because I've improved a lot since we last fought!" Karen added before she tossed the Pokeball. "Crobat, go!" Karen tossed the Pokeball and Steve and Ann frowned as the large, purple bat like Pokémon emerged from it. "I see you still remember the trouble Crobat gave you at the Kalos League."
"You could say that." Steve responded as Christie got her Pokedex out and pointed it at Crobat.
"Crobat, the Bat Pokémon and the fully evolved form of Zubat, It flies so silently through the dark on its four wings that it may not be noticed even when nearby." The Pokedex entry read out and Karen shot her an annoyed look.
"Are you going to use that thing every time I send out a Pokémon you're not familiar with?!" Karen snapped at her but didn't give her a chance to respond. "Damn rookies are so annoying!"
"I may be a rookie but I seem to remember that your two Pokémon where knocked out pretty early in yesterday's Team Rocket Brawl." Christie retorted and Karen hesitated. "In fact this rookie's Eevee was the one who delivered the final blow….."
"Shut up! Can't you keep your damn mouth shut for one second?! God, you are so annoying!" Karen snapped at her again and Christie smirked.
"You're calling me annoying? What was it you said about pot calling the kettle black?" Christie asked rhetorically and Karen went to answer. "And about keeping your mouth shut, that's pretty funny because from what I heard you couldn't keep yours shut whilst you were on your knees inches away from a naked guy's dick!" Christie added and Karen's jaw dropped.
"I think Christie just burned her worse than any fire type move." Dalton whispered to Ann who nodded in agreement.
"Look, ladies, and in the case of Karen I'm being extremely generous by saying that…." Steve trailed off as he pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. "I enjoy a good cat fight as much as the next guy but we do have a battle for me to win here!" Steve added before activating and tossing a Pokeball. "Litleo, go!" Steve called out and the Pokeball opened up revealing the lion cub Pokémon.
"Did you forget about how Crobat defeated that overgrown pussy cat in one blow?" Karen asked in a mocking tone and Litleo growled at her. "Why would you send him into battle against my Crobat again?"
"Mock him all you want, Litleo's a lot stronger than he was back then." Steve responded with a confident grin. "Besides, he was still new to my team at the time and well you saw him in the brawl."
"Is that true?" Christie whispered to Ann who nodded.
"Yeah, before he caught a Goldeen back on Route One Litleo was his most recent capture." Ann responded with a nod before standing in between the two trainers. "Since Christie would find it impossible to remain impartial I volunteer to be the ref, any objections?"
"That's fine by me." Karen nodded in approval.
"What she said." Steve responded before sweat-dropping. "That's probably the first thing we've agreed on since we broke up!"
"We did agree to battle Team Rocket at the gym yesterday." Karen pointed out and Steve shook his head.
"For starters it was that or risk our Pokémon being stolen, second, you've helped me against Team Rocket many times back in Kalos for the same reason!" Steve pointed out and Karen went to argue his point before shaking her head.
"Your right that is the first thing we've agreed on in ages." Karen conceded with a nod. "So, are we going to start or not?"
"Begin!" Ann announced once Steve nodded and the two trainers grinned.
"Crobat, you defeated that Pokémon before and you'll do it again, use Aerial Ace!" Karen commanded and the Crobat flew towards Litleo.
"That move got Litleo the first time but not this time! Litleo, use Dig!" Steve commanded and Litleo leapt up and over Crobat before digging into the ground before Crobat could follow up with another attack.
"You have got to be kidding!" Karen muttered under her breath with a facepalm. "Don't you remember what happened the last time Steve? You used Dig but due to the fact that Ground Type attacks are useless against Flying Types….."
"And that opened Crobat up to hit Litleo with a point blank Hyper Beam that knocked him out in one hit." Steve commented with a frown as he folded his arms. "But I learn for my mistakes because this time I'm using it as a defensive move! Litleo, come on out!" Steve commanded and Litleo hopped up and out of the hole without hesitation. "Now Litleo, show her your Hyper Beam!"
"So you taught your Litleo a new move, do I look like a care! Crobat, Hyper Beam now!" Karen commanded and the two Pokémon fired their Hyper Beams at the same time, the attacks hit midair causing a small explosion.
"Need I remind you that you're battling inside our campsite?!" Christie reminded the trainers as she shielded her eyes. "So if you could keep explosions to a minimum that would be great!"
"Or you can avoid causing explosions all together!" Dalton agreed as the smoke cleared revealing the two Pokémon still in the battle but very much exhausted, that wasn't all it revealed however….. "Oh for the love of crap, that explosion put out the campfire!"
"Leave that to me and Combusken!" Christie responded before letting Combusken out of its Pokeball. "Combusken, I know this may sound strange but I need you to use Fire Spin on the campfire." Christie explained and Combusken gave her a confused look. "Long story short, they knocked out the campfire by accident." Christie explained as she pointed to Karen and Steve and Combusken nodded before using his attack on the pile of logs getting the campfire going again.
"Crobat, return, I'll save you for later." Karen announced before pointing Crobat's Pokeball at the Pokémon and the red light shot out of it calling back the exhausted Pokémon.
"Litleo, return…." Steve said simply as he did likewise. "I think it's about time Skarmory made his battle debut!" Steve decided and Skarmory flew over to Steve's side of the field without hesitation.
"Good, now I can get him back for stealing my food!" Karen responded as she activated another Pokeball. "And like you I'm taking a new addition to my team for a spin! Absol, I chose you!" Karen tossed the Pokeball and the four legged, white furred dark type Pokémon emerged from it prompting Christie to get her Pokedex out.
"Absol, the Disaster Pokémon, It senses coming disasters and appears before people only to warn them of impending danger." Absol's Pokedex entry read out and Christie gulped as she heard the info.
"If you're worried about a disaster occurring around the corner, don't be." Karen responded once she saw the look on Christie's face. "I mean, I'll admit, I was nervous when I heard Absol's Pokedex entry myself but so far the only disaster that's occurred when I sent this Pokémon out was to my opponents after they lost."
"Karen, we're not exactly friends but I have to tell you, you're making it sound like some meteor's going to hit our campsite if I lose." Steve pointed out and the other trainers sweat-dropped with nervous looks on their faces.
"Yeah, I'll admit, I should've worded that better." Karen admitted with a sigh. "What I mean was a disaster for their Pokémon teams…as in having to rush to the nearest Pokémon center and not the whole team dying of a heart attack."
"Karen, how about you just shut up before you dig a hole for yourself so big that you'll be able to see just how far down a Pokémon that uses Dig goes." Steve suggested and Karen nodded in agreement.
"Begin!" Ann announced and the two trainers grinned.
"Skarmory, let's kick things off with Steel Wing!" Steve commanded and the Pokémon let out a cry before taking flight and charging towards Absol as its wings glowed…..
"Dodge it!" Karen commanded and the Absol leapt over the Skarmory at the last moment. "Now, hit him with a Flamethrower!" Karen commanded and once the Absol was back on his feet he spun around before letting loose with a flame attack…..
"Skarmory, use Agility!" Steve called out and with incredible speed the steel type Pokémon moved out of the way of the flames that Absol tried to hit him with. "Now, use Steel Wing!" Steve commanded and with a cry the Pokémon closed in on Absol as its wings glowed…..
"Hold your ground Absol!" Karen commanded and the disaster Pokémon stayed in its spot as Skarmory closed in, once it was close enough to Absol Karen sprang into action. "Absol, use Flamethrower at point blank range!" Karen commanded and before Skarmory could respond the Absol let loose with another Flamethrower that Skarmory couldn't dodge and once the flames died down Skarmory was struggling to get to his feet. "Impressive, any other Steel Type Pokémon would be out cold by now!"
"Come on Skarmory, get up!" Steve called out to his new Pokémon and surprisingly the Skarmory did just that.
"Don't give him a chance to recover Absol! Finish him off with Night Slash!" Karen commanded and the Disaster Pokémon charged in as the scythe on its head glowed…
"Skarmory, take flight and quickly…." Steve called out and the Pokémon took the skies just in time to avoid Absol's attack.
"Not this time! Absol, use Shadow Ball!" Karen commanded and the Absol's eyes glowed as a ball of dark energy was launched at Skarmory…..
"Okay, Skarmory's a Flying Type so it should hopefully know this move, especially since I spent a few hours in Pewter City teaching it some new moves!" Steve thought before pointing to Absol. "Skarmory, use Aerial Ace!" Steve commanded and the Pokémon started dive bombing at Absol as the Shadow Ball closed in, Skarmory's Aerial Ace hit its mark first knocking Absol down and it moved out of the way just as the Shadow Ball would've hit him and the attack hit Absol instead knocking it out.
"Absol is out! Skarmory wins!" Ann announced as Karen called back Absol and Steve grinned.
"Looks like I have the better new Pokémon Karen!" Steve said as Skarmory landed near him. "If you want to send Crobat back out I will gladly kick it's ass as well!"
"Great and I caught Absol as a counter for Steve's Delphox as well!" Karen thought with a frown before grinning as she grabbed another Pokeball. "I'm saving Crobat for last but I already know how to deal with your Skarmory!" Karen responded as she activated the Pokeball. "Chesnaught, go!" Karen sent the Pokémon out and the evolved form of her starter Pokémon emerged from it.
"I was hoping that she'd send that thing out!" Christie thought before getting her Pokedex out and pointing it at Chesnaught.
"Chesnaught, the Shiny Armor Pokémon and evolved form of Quilladin, its Tackle is forceful enough to flip a 50-ton tank. It shields its allies from danger with its own body." The Pokedex's entry read out and Christie looked up to see Steve barely containing his laughter.
"Karen, are you insane?" Steve asked with a grin. "Chesnaught is Grass/Fighting type Pokémon, Skarmory is a Steel/Flying type Pokémon, do I even need to point out the massive type disadvantage Chesnaught has?"
"I know that!" Karen responded before grinning. "But I also know that Skarmory took quite a beating from my Absol! How long can it stand against a fresh and healthy Chesnaught?"
"She's got a point! If I want to win this match I'll have to end this battle quickly!" Steve thought with a frown as they turned to Ann.
"Begin!" Ann commanded and the two trainers grinned as they pointed to their Pokémon.
"It worked once and it'll work again! Skarmory, use Aerial Ace!" Steve commanded and the Skarmory took flight before flying at Chesnaught at high speed…..
"Chesnaught, use Spiky Shield!" Karen commanded and the Chesnaught put his hands in front of his face as Skarmory closed in and, to the surprise of Dalton and Christie, was able to fight off Skarmory and send it flying backwards. "Now use Hyper Beam!" Karen commanded and the Chesnaught charged up a beam before firing it at the Skarmory knocking it into the tree that the gang had used to lure out the Skarmory the previous day and knocking it out.
"Skarmory's out! Chesnaught wins!" Ann announced as Steve called back Skarmory to his Pokeball.
"That was a great first battle Skarmory, you deserve a good rest!" Steve said to Skarmory's Pokeball before attaching it to his belt and turning to Karen. "I see your Chesnaught's gotten stronger!"
"Are you really that surprised?" Karen asked with a cocky grin as she patted Chesnaught. "Absol and Crobat may be strong but Chesnaught here is in a league of his own."
"Err, Ann, quick question." Christie asked as she and Dalton approached Ann. "What was with that Spiky Shield move?"
"It's a move that only Chesnaught can learn like Greninja's Water Shuriken." Ann responded with a nod. "As you just saw, it's a very powerful defensive move."
"Yeah, we noticed." Dalton nodded in response as Steve chose his next Pokémon.
"I think it's time I showed off my starter as well." Steve added as he activated a Pokeball. "Delphox, you're up!" Steve called out as he tossed the Pokeball and Delphox emerged from it.
"Very clever, sending a Fire/Psychic Type to deal with my Grass/Fighting type." Karen responded with a sarcastic clap. "But despite his type disadvantage I remember Chesnaught defeating Delphox when we faced off at the Kalos Pokémon League!"
"That may be true but Delphox is a lot stronger than he was back then and I'll show you that fact in this battle." Steve responded as their Starter Pokémon had a stare down with each other.
"Begin!" Ann called out and the two trainers grinned.
"Okay, Chesnaught will need a turn to recharge thanks to Hyper Beam so if I want to end this match quickly I'll need to strike now!" Steve thought before pointing to his Delphox. "Delphox, he won't be able to use Spiky Shield this time so lead things off with Mystical Fire!" Steve commanded and Delphox pointed it's at Chesnaught which subsequently caused a large fireball to erupt.
"Let me guess, the other exclusive move?" Christie whispered to Ann who nodded in response.
"Hold your ground Chesnaught!" Karen commanded and the Chesnaught braced himself as the flames came into contact with his body, Steve smirked confidently but his smirk disappeared almost as quickly as it arrived when Chesnaught was revealed to still be standing albeit with a few burns. "You're surprised? Please, we both know that Chesnaught is a Pokémon with a very high defense."
"We'll see how long that defense holds out! Delphox, use Psyshock!" Steve commanded and Delphox started firing beams of energy at the Chesnaught.
"Dodge them and use Hammer Arm!" Karen commanded and the Chesnaught charged towards Delphox as it avoided the beams of light with surprising speed, the attack hit Delphox knocking him back but before Chesnaught could launch a follow up attack he was hit by the last beam of light knocking him out.
"Chesnaught is out! Delphox wins!" Ann commanded and Steve grinned as Karen called back Chesnaught.
"You may as well give it up Karen!" Steve commented with a smirk. "Your last Pokémon is Crobat and he's still tired from the match against Litleo!"
"He's had two battles to recover his strength!" Karen retorted before smirking. "And if anyone's tired its Delphox!"
"Huh?" Steve asked before looking at Delphox who indeed seemed exhausted. "But how…." Steve trailed off before it hit him. "Off course, you used Hammer Arm on him!"
"They've lost me, again." Christie admitted and Ann giggled a bit.
"Basically Hammer Arm is a move that deals damage and lowers the speed of the Pokémon that's attacked." Ann explained and Christie nodded in understanding.
"And that leaves me in a perfect position to tie up the game!" Karen responded as she activated and tossed the Pokeball. "Crobat, come on out!" Karen called out and Crobat emerged from his Pokeball again apparently not affected by his usage of Hyper Beam earlier. "Do you still want to battle him using Delphox?"
"Your Crobat is strong but he's not unbeatable, don't forget that I beat him with my Starmie when we faced off in the Kalos Pokémon League!" Steve responded with a smirk and Karen frowned.
"I wasn't exactly expecting a Water Type Pokémon to know how to use Thunder, what can I say?" Karen responded before they turned to Ann.
"Begin!" Ann announced and the trainers grinned.
"Crobat, Aerial Ace!" Karen commanded and the bat Pokémon started flying at Delphox at high speed….
"Delphox, use Flamethrower!" Steve commanded and the Fire Pokémon attempted to hit the approaching Pokémon with Flamethrower but Crobat dodged the flames before making contact with Delphox stunning him.
"Now Crobat, finish him off with Brave Bird!" Karen commanded and the Crobat span around before flying even faster at Delphox…..
"Quick Delphox, use Mystical Fire!" Steve commanded and the Delphox tried to prepare his signature move but the Crobat proved to be far too quick for Delphox, especially with the reduced speed, and hit him at high speed knocking him out.
"Delphox is out! Crobat wins!" Ann announced as Steve called back Delphox.
"Oh great, you guys knocked out the campfire again!" Christie said with a sigh and Steve shook his head.
"Don't bother resetting it until the evening it's not that cold today!" Steve responded before activating his last Pokeball. "It looks like we're back to square one Karen! Litleo, go!" Steve tossed the Pokeball and the Lion Cub Pokémon emerged from it.
"Yeah, we are, and this battle will end the same way our last one did!" Karen responded as the two trainers stared down.
"Begin!" Ann announced and the two trainers grinned.
"Litleo, Ember now!" Steve commanded and the Pokémon started charging at Crobat…..
"Dodge it and use Brave Bird!" Karen commanded and the Crobat flew over the flames before divebombing at Litleo….
"Dodge it with Dig!" Steve commanded and Litleo dodged the attack big digging a small hole into the ground, the momentum of the attack forced Crobat to keep going sending him flying into the tree, however unlike Skarmory Crobat was able to fly away from the tree. "Crobat, if you can hear me use Steel Wing!" Karen commanded and the Crobat started flying back towards the hill as his wings glowed…..
"Litleo, get out of the hole wait until he gets close!" Steve commanded and the Litleo hopped out of the hole and braced himself, as the Crobat closed in Steve grinned. "Now, use Hyper Beam!" Steve commanded and the Crobat barely had enough time to react before the Hyper Beam hit him knocking him out.
"Crobat is out! Litleo wins! The winner of the match is Steve!" Ann announced and Karen frowned as she called back Crobat and Steve did the same to Litleo.
"Who's the rookie now Karen?" Christie asked and Karen glared at her. "Steve just beat you at your own game!"
"Christie, I appreciate trash talking as much as the next trainer but now's not the time and besides, the last time you faced me your Eevee got his ass kicked by Litleo." Steve responded and it was Christie's turn at glare this time at him. "So where are you headed Karen?"
"I'm heading to Terracotta Town's Pokémon Center to heal up my Pokémon." Karen responded with a frown. "I still have three more Pokémon so if I encounter any Pokémon worth capturing I won't have to wait a few hours for my team to heal." Karen added before turning to leave. "And as much as I'd hate to admit it, you've improved Steve! Now I just have to train up my team to keep up!" Karen added before leaving the campsite.
"Thank god she's gone." Christie sighed in relief as she stood up and stretched her limbs. "So what's the plan now?"
"I'm heading to the Pewter City Pokémon Center to heal up Delphox, Skarmory and Litleo, the rest of my team isn't that strong compared to Karen's and I really don't want to bump into her for the second time today." Steve responded as he started making his way down the hill. "That was close but at least I know that my team's strong! Should be able to take the Cascade Badge with no problem…."
"SON OF A BITCH!" Christie's voice rang out in pain and Steve looked up seeing that Christie had gotten her foot stuck in one of the holes that Litleo had dug, Steve sweat-dropped as Ann and Dalton helped her out of the hole. "Steve, new rule, no more battles at campsites!"
"Yeah, we're in agreement there." Steve responded as he shook his head. "You okay?"
"I think I sprained my ankle." Christie responded with a grunt. "Otherwise, I'm good."
"I'll see if I can get someone from Pewter to look at that." Steve responded with a nod. "In the meantime, Ann, have your Nidoran fill in the holes."
"Got it Steve, see you when you get back." Ann responded as she let out her Pokémon and Steve walked off.
