(OOC: I would like to take a moment to dedicate this chapter to the memory of Robin Williams, as the Genie in Aladdin he was a big part of my childhood and he'll be missed)
It had been an hour since Dalton's Pokémon Battle against Jack and the gang was back at the campsite getting ready to go for a swim in the lake, or at least they would be except for one problem.
"What's taking Christie so long?" Steve wondered out loud as he sat next to the lake, the three of them were in their swimsuits but Christie was still in her tent. "How long does it take to put on a bikini? Honestly!"
"It shouldn't take that long so maybe she's just having trouble finding it?" Ann offered with a shrug. "I say we give her a couple of minutes before we go in the lake without her, it's been ages since I last went for a swim!"
"To be fair there aren't that many lakes in Kalos." Steve responded with a grin before stretching a bit, a couple of minutes passed and Steve stood up. "I'm going to check on her."
"Check on her or check her out?" Dalton asked with a grin and Steve rolled his eyes. "Seriously though, are you sure? We've both seen her temper and what if she's getting dressed as we speak?"
"It shouldn't take her this long to put on a bikini." Steve responded as he made his way towards the tents and Dalton shook his head.
"So Dalton, how's your new Krabby settling in?" Ann asked after a couple of seconds and Dalton turned to her. "I know you said that he was able to beat a Charizard but what about the rest of the team?"
"He's getting along with Ralts and Butterfree, Manky's keeping his distance and Pikachu doesn't like him for some reason." Dalton responded but before Ann could respond they heard a female voice cry out in shock. "Was that Christie?"
"STEVE WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" Christie's voice rang out and Steve bolted back towards the lake with a look of panic on his face.
"Sorry, sorry, please don't cut off my balls!" Steve called back without looking over his shoulder before taking a dive into the lake and staying underwater.
"What the….." Dalton trailed off before looking up and seeing Christie and he quickly got the idea, she was clad in only a blue bikini bottom, her hair was messy and wasn't in its usual ponytail and she had a Pokeball in one hand whilst covering up her nipples with her free hand, however he was able to take his eyes off of Christie's partially concealed breasts and noticed that she was angry presumably at Steve. "Err….."
"Tell him that he'd better apologize when he comes up from under that lake! Christie interrupted him whilst blushing furiously before storming off in the direction of her tent, once the topless eighteen year old was out of site they turned to the lake.
"She's back in her tent Steve." Dalton said and after a few seconds Steve emerged from the lake. "So what happened exactly?"
"I opened up her tent door without knocking and the next thing I saw was her exposed breasts pointed towards the door." Steve responded with a frown. "I didn't exactly have long to admire the view, she was brushing her hair and she quickly spotted me."
"Why would she brush her hair without putting her bikini top on first?" Dalton asked and Steve shrugged.
"Got me, maybe she decided to wear her hair down whilst she went for a dip in the lake, who knows?" Steve offered with an annoyed sigh. "If this were a Porno we'd be making out in her tent by now but, obviously, it isn't and she's mad at me for not knocking first."
"How do you even knock on a tent door?" Dalton wondered out loud and Steve shook his head. "Guess it could've been worse."
"How? I just walked in on my crush getting dressed and she's mad at me!" Steve responded and Dalton shook his head.
"What if Officer Jenny had seen her chasing you topless?" Dalton asked and Steve winced.
"Good point." Steve admitted before deciding to change the subject. "So, err, how long before we reach Cerulean City anyway?" Steve asked and Dalton reached into his backpack to retrieve the map.
"According to this, after we pass through Terracotta Town here." Dalton said as he pointed to the town's location on the map. "We just have to pass through Mount Moon here and we'll reach Cerulean City."
"Good, we can get some moon stones whilst we're in Mount Moon so that when our Nidorans evolve into Nidorina and Nidorino we can use them to evolve them into Nidoking and Nidoqueen." Ann responded as she looked at the map. "Maybe we can grab a couple of extra ones as well encase either you or Christie catch a Pokémon that needs it to evolve."
"That's a good idea, especially since Moon Stones are hard to come by in the other parts of Kanto." Steve responded with a nod before his eyes widened. "Guys, Christie's behind you! You gotta hide me!"
"Steve, I can see you clear as day!" Christie responded as she approached the lake, this time her hair wasn't messy and she had the top half of her blue bikini on. "And don't you have something to say to me?"
"Well yeah but I have a couple of questions to boot." Steve responded as he got out of the lake. "First I'm sorry for walking in on you getting dressed, second, why were you facing your tent door topless whilst brushing your hair?" Steve asked and Christie shook her head.
"It's this damn bikini top I was looking all over the tent for it whilst brushing my hair." Christie responded with an annoyed sigh. "My breasts were facing the tent door because I thought SOMEONE would have the decency to knock first before entering!"
"How exactly am I supposed to knock on a tent door?!" Steve asked with an annoyed frown. "Those things aren't exactly made of hard, solid wood you know!"
"You probably should've worded that better, just saying." Dalton pointed out as Christie ran a hand down her face.
"Forget it, you have a point there." Christie admitted as her frown deepened. "But there was nothing stopping you from calling out from the other side of the tent door that you wanted to check on me."
"Yeah and instead I ended up checking you out topless." Steve sighed before grinning. "Not that I'm complaining, your boobs looked great!" Steve added and the others' eyes widened before they created some room between themselves and Christie.
"Did he just complement my boobs after getting an eyeful of them? I…ugh!" Christie thought before taking a deep breath. "Just take the complement and be glad that it wasn't Zach!" Christie decided before extending her hand out to Steve. "Friends?"
"Friends." Steve responded as he accepted her handshake.
"That ended with a lot less bloodshed than I was expecting." Dalton commented dryly and the two teens rolled their eyes in response. "So what should we do now?"
"Let's let out the Pokémon." Christie responded as she grabbed her Pokeballs. "But just one thing Dalton, wait until I'm in the water before you let Pikachu out."
"Right, he won't be able to make a leap for your breasts otherwise." Dalton nodded before the gang let their Pokémon out in this order, Christie, Steve, Ann and Dalton once Christie had taken her first dive into the lake.
"Okay guys." Steve said as he stood up and looked out towards the Pokémon teams. "We're having a bit of a day off today so take it easy, anyone who wants to join us in the lake is free to do so but try not to stray too far from the campsite." Steve added before taking a dive into the lake, the Pokémon who weren't flying types quickly dived into the water whilst the flying types (and Ann's Frosslass) watched from the side however there was one Pokémon that seemed reluctant to go into the lake.
"Is there something wrong Growlithe?" Christie asked her newest team member as she swam to the lake's edge where her Growlithe was looking at the water with what seemed to be uncertainty. "Did you never learn to swim because you're a fire type?"
"I don't think that's it." Steve responded as he swam up to her. "I mean, your Houndour and Combusken and my Litleo and Delphox were happy to jump into the lake."
"Yeah, that's a good point." Christie agreed before extending her hands out to the Growlithe. "Come on Growlithe, don't you want to join your friends?"
"You're having trouble getting your Growlithe into the water as well Christie?" Ann's voice rang out and Christie looked up seeing Ann swimming towards them whilst her Growlithe followed her on the shore. "At least I'm not the only one."
"Yeah and it's weird, mom told me that her Growlithe, which later evolved into Arcanine, was a very strong swimmer so I assumed that the same could be said for all Growlithes and Arcanines." Christie agreed before turning her attention back to her Growlithe who was happily greeting her former partner in crime. "As much as I hate to suggest something like that, do you think it has something to do with their first trainer?"
"As much as I hate to say it, it seems that way." Steve responded with a sad sigh. "Did we ever find anything out about their original trainer?"
"I asked around when I returned to Karratas to heal up Pikachu and the Krabby I caught yesterday." Dalton chimed in as he swam over. "Unfortunately none of the locals knew anything about him other than the fact that he originally owned the three Growlithe that were terrorizing the village."
"If we ever bump into that asshole I'll be sure to give him a piece of my mind." Christie responded with a frown as she leaned against the wall of the lake. "But in the meantime we have to figure out what to do with the Growlithe."
"Well, not all our Pokémon are in the lake." Steve pointed out as he pointed towards the campfire were his Skarmory, Christie's Pidgey and Spearrow, Ann's Froslass and Dalton's Butterfree were chilling out. "They could always join them for the time being."
"Yeah but that would leave them out and part of the reason I got this idea in the first place was so that I could get them to feel a lot more comfortable around our other Pokémon." Christie admitted with a frown as she glanced up towards the Pokémon around the campfire. "You guys have any experience dealing with this?"
"I'm going to assume that the question was directed towards me and Ann, unfortunately we don't." Steve responded with a frown. "The only Pokémon on my team that doesn't know how to swim is a Snorlax I caught a few days into my Pokémon Journey and I don't think I need to explain why we didn't let that thing go swimming."
"Yeah, one Cannibal and you'd have a bunch of dead Water Pokémon on your hands and the surrounding area would be flooded, assuming the Snorlax could even fit into the lake to begin with." Christie responded with a small grin. "Anyway, that covers you Steve so what about you Ann?"
"My answers a lot more simple, up until Growlithe I've never had any problems getting a Pokémon to swim." Ann responded as she pointed to her Alakazam who was doing a backstroke across the lake. "Alakazam was my greatest challenge in that regard but even he was able to get the hang of it."
"Maybe that's it then, we'll just have to take our time with our Growlithe." Christie suggested as she turned to the Growlithe who was currently lying down next to Ann's Growlithe.
"Yeah, maybe you're right about the Growlithe but on the other hand we won't know for sure until we can get them to swim." Steve agreed as he got out of the lake and lay down on the grass with his hands behind his head. "Anyway I'm taking a break for a bit."
"Tired of me outclassing you even with a bum leg?" Christie teased him with a cheeky grin on her face and Steve rolled his eyes.
"No, just tired of swimming in general." Steve responded with a grin as his Litleo and Christie's Eevee got out of the lake and gave their fur a shake to dry off. "I'll jump back in the lake shortly but for now I'm just happy to watch you swim."
"Yeah and I'm sure the fact that I'm wearing a bikini has nothing to do with it!" Christie said sarcastically but before Steve could answer she started swimming a lap.
"Okay, it had something to do with it but can you blame me? Yes, even if I did get a brief look at her naked tits earlier!" Steve thought to himself before sighing in annoyance. "But on the other hand I can't exactly see much because she's in the lake at least I'll be able to enjoy the view when she does get out though."
Christie continued to swim a few laps of the lake and since the lake wasn't that big compared to the one near their last campsite it wasn't the much of an issue for her, she swam one last lap before deciding to get out of the lake and join Steve on the grass. "That was just what I needed." Christie commented as she stretched for a bit unaware of two things, that Steve had positioned himself so that his body was facing hers and that her Eevee was plotting with Steve's Litleo again. "So as soon as we're done here we'll pack up right?"
"If by that you mean once we're dressed and have had dinner then yeah, we'll pack up and go to Terracotta Town." Steve responded with a grin as his eyes traveled up and down Christie's bikini clad body. "There have been many times when I've thanked Arceus for the day that I met her and this is definitely one of them."
"Good, it'll be good to sleep on a bed again." Christie responded with a grin as she glanced over her shoulder at Steve. "Just remember to ask if I'm decent before entering my tent next time."
"You're still sore about that?" Steve asked with a grin and Christie frowned.
"Considering that the local Officer Jenny could've seen me running around topless and arrested me for indecent exposure?" Christie asked as she shook her head and turned to him. "You should just be glad that I didn't catch you earlier."
"I'm not even going to ask what you would've done if you had caught me." Steve responded with a wince as Eevee walked up in front of his owner and stretched his paws, a fact that neither trainer caught. "And considering you were holding one of your Pokeballs I'm going to assume that it was a tactic you picked up from your mom when she chased off Pallet Town's perverts?"
"You could say that, only I would've only used one Pokémon, namely Combusken." Christie responded as she stepped forward, as she did Eevee stepped in front of her foot and before she knew it she had tripped over her starter Pokémon and landed on the ground. "Eevee watch were you're going next time, you could've hurt me!" Christie said as she glanced at the Eevee who was panicking for some reason. "I wasn't that hard on Eevee, was I?" Christie thought before hearing Steve groan and she looked up. "Oh shit!" Christie thought as realization hit her like a ton of bricks.
"You know Christie." Steve started in a high pitched voice as he clutched his balls in pain and tears rolled down his face. "If you wanted to give me head, well for starters you're going completely the wrong way about it but you could've just done it back in the tent!"
"Sorry, sorry, sorry!" Christie apologized repeatedly as she started to regain her composure, behind her Eevee and Litleo were trying to sneak away but the two Growlithe got in their path blocking them and growling at them.
"Err, Christie, what just happened?" Dalton asked as he got out of the lake followed by Ann. "One minute you were chatting with Steve who was pretty obviously checking you out, the next all on your all fours and he's clutching his balls in pain."
"Okay, remember when you gave Steve a severe case of blue balls back at the last camp site?" Christie asked as she stood up and Steve groaned whilst Dalton nodded. "I think Litleo and Eevee tried that again but instead of landing on top of Steve like I did last time I missed completely and headbutted Steve in the balls on the way down."
"Okay, quick question, is this some elaborate revenge due to the fact that Steve walked in on you getting changed into your bikini earlier?" Dalton asked and Christie folded her arms.
"Dalton, if I intended to do that I would've just kicked him in the balls as soon as I got out of the lake!" Christie responded with a frown. "I may have a bum leg but that doesn't mean I fall over every other minute!"
"Given how many times you've fallen into lakes I thought you did," Ann commented with a frown and Christie shook her head.
"You're not helping Ann." Christie responded before noticing that Ann and Dalton's Pokémon teams were back in their Pokeballs save for Ann's Growlithe. "Decided to end the swim?"
"It's getting late and it's not going to stay this hot for very long, we were going to suggest getting changed even before you headbutted my brother in the balls." Ann responded and Christie realized that she was right.
"Good point." Christie responded before turning to Steve who was finally getting up. "How are you feeling?"
"Well let's see." Steve responded now that his voice had returned to its normal pitch. "I got headbutted in the balls whilst I had a boner brought on by you in a bikini and you guys seem more interested in rubbing in the fact that I've basically had more bad luck with my crush than a level one Magikarp trying to evolve into Gyrados whilst only knowing Splash." Steve responded with a groan. "I feel fine, thanks for asking!"
"Look, I'll find some way to make it up to you, one that doesn't involve sex before you ask, but until then I think we'd better get dressed." Christie responded with a sigh and Steve glanced up towards the sky which was indeed getting darker.
"That's a great point, okay guys the swim's over!" Steve called out to the Pokémon who were still in the water and whilst they seemed disappointed they left the lake and let their trainers call them back into their Pokeballs, once that was done the four of them returned to their tents to get changed.
*meanwhile*
Whilst the gang where enjoying their swim in the lake other trainers were moving on with their journey including one that the gang had met during their stay in Karratas.
"Man I'm beat." Alex muttered under her breath as she stopped for a rest, she was currently walking down a pathway that would take her to Terracotta Town but it had been a long journey and due to her impatient nature she hadn't stayed in one place for very long, her Blitzle was walking alongside her and he turned to his trainer with a look of concern on his face. "Don't worry Blitz, as soon as we find a Pokémon Center we'll stop for a rest." Alex added with a small grin as she caught her breath.
"There's a Pokémon Center not far from here." Jack's voice rang out and Alex looked up spotting him walking down the path in the opposite direction. "Off course if you're too lazy to make the trip yourself your Blitzle could carry you."
"Screw you, try walking from Karratas to Terracotta Town and then call me lazy!" Alex snapped at him and Jack chuckled.
"I just did, so I will." Jack responded and Alex gave him an odd look before Jack frowned. "As for Terracotta Town, don't waste your time with that dump, outside of the Pokémon Center and those pointless contests there's nothing to see there, if I where you I'd just do what I'm doing and train up my team using the wild Pokémon in the area."
"I'll be the judge of that." Alex added before brushing past him and her Blitzle followed. "And besides, I like those contests!"
"That explains so much about your obvious lack of intelligence!" Jack responded with a chuckle and Alex stopped dead in her tracks once she heard the insult.
"Excuse me?!" Alex said as she span on her heel. "Just because I like something you don't doesn't make me a dumbass! Hell I'd battle you right now if I wasn't tired!"
"Don't bother, I would've challenged you the moment I saw you but I already lost once today and I don't want to risk that again!" Jack responded with a frown as he turned to her. "Besides, you'd sweep through my whole team with that Blitzle of yours alone, what's the point?"
"I don't know, maybe to improve as a trainer?!" Alex asked bluntly as she rolled her eyes. "Who did you battle anyway?"
"Some idiot called Dalton with a Pikachu and a Krabby I believe he mentioned that he had just caught it." Jack responded with a frown and Alex stopped in her tracks again. "He could've killed my Charizard with the stunt he pulled during our battle but he didn't and he won."
"Please tell me that's not Dalty!" Alex thought before glancing over her shoulder. "Did he have dark hair wear a baseball cap and blazer?"
"Yes and he was accompanied by a tall brunette woman in a crop top called Christie." Jack responded and Alex lowered her head before bolting off with her Blitzle in tow. "Why? Do you…." Jack looked over his shoulder before realizing that Alex was long gone. "Women, maybe I'll challenge her as well." Jack thought with a scoff before walking off.
In truth Alex wasn't that far away as she had stooped to lean against a nearby tree, the revelation had caused her to start crying quite a bit and her Blitzle caught up with her. "How could Dalty do something so stupid? I mean, we both love Pokémon and…." She trailed off as she removed her cap and sat down on the ground. "No! No way! He wouldn't do that! I've known him for too long and that guy was an asshole, for all I know he was making it up!" Alex thought as she wiped the last of her tears away. "Next time I bump into those guys I'll chat with Dalty and get it straightened out." Alex thought before noticing two things, the nearby Pokémon Center and how dark it was getting. "Thank god, I can at least sleep in a comfy bed tonight!" Alex thought before standing up and going over to the center.
*later that night*
It was now pretty late at night and the gang had gotten changed out of their swimsuits and into their regular clothing, normally they'd be asleep by now but something was keeping them awake and they were currently killing time around the campfire.
"So yeah, according to the map we should only be two stops away from Cerulean City and our second badges." Steve said as he checked the map which was currently lying on his lap. "Our next stop will be Terracotta Town where you'll, hopefully be able to get your fishing rod repaired Christie."
"I'd hope so it is a seaside town after all." Christie responded as she shifted her weight, her Eevee and Growlithe was out of their Pokeballs and whilst Eevee was asleep on her lap her Growlithe was staying awake so that she could use her Flamethrower to keep the fire going. "Mount Moon's the next stop after Terracotta Town right?"
"Right, despite its name it's not that big a mountain and we should be able to grab some evolution stones whilst we're up there." Steve nodded in response. "Speaking of which, when do you plan on using a Fire Stone on Growlithe?"
"I want to make sure that's she's at a pretty high level first so not for a while yet." Christie responded as she patted her Growlithe on the head. "I know Growlithe stop learning moves at around Level 49 so that may be my best shot."
"I'm in the same boat as Christie." Ann nodded in agreement as she stroked her Growlithe. "Besides Arcanines don't naturally learn any move once they evolve so we should make sure that the Growlithes are as strong as possible."
"As for me well as it stands the only Pokémon I have that evolves via a stone is Pikachu so I guess I'm in the same boat as you two." Dalton responded as he looked at Pikachu's Pokeball. "So I'm guessing we're packing up and moving on in the morning?"
"Yeah, it's gotten pretty dark and I, generally speaking, wouldn't suggest trying to haul camping equipment along in the dark." Steve responded with a frown as he looked around the campsite. "Especially since that includes cooking equipment and the like."
"Yeah, Steve tried that once whilst we were still in Kalos, he's not exactly in a hurry to try that again." Ann nodded in agreement and Steve frowned at that memory. "All though at this rate it'll probably be morning by the time we go to bed."
"You're assuming that Christie will wake up before the afternoon." Steve pointed out earning himself a playful punch on the arm and a mock death glare from Christie. "So we have our path planned out not counting any encounters with Team Rocket, Karen, Zach, Alex, Jack or any other Pokémon trainers for that matter, anything else you can think off to pass the time before we go to sleep?"
"We could always just chat I guess." Christie offered as she shrugged her shoulders. "But the one thing I'm not sure about is what should we chat about?"
"Why not fears?" Dalton asked earning an odd look from the other trainers. "Oh come on, it's perfect! We're camped out in the woods at night…."
"Yeah, we're camped out at night in the middle of summer." Christie interrupted him with a frown on her face. "Halloween isn't for a few months yet!"
"Unless you've got better ideas this is what I'm going with." Dalton responded and after thinking for a moment the other trainers shook their heads. "I thought so, and since she spoke up why don't you go first Christie?"
"Wait, why should I be the one to go first and not Steve instead? And what about Ann, why can't she go first? She's twelve years old I doubt her fears are that scary!" Christie responded and Steve shook his head in response.
"Ann and I have the same fear, our dad breaking out of jail and killing us all." Steve responded and Christie winced remembering the nightmare Steve had on her first night of her Pokémon Journey. "I don't need, nor want, to elaborate on that."
"Okay, fair enough, but what about you Dalton?" Christie asked as she turned to him and Dalton frowned.
"My mom getting ill again, that's it." Dalton responded as he shifted his weight. "Well there's no one else around Christie so it's your turn." Dalton added and Christie hesitated. "Oh come on, you've told us enough about your failed soccer career but you hesitate to talk about your fears?"
"It's not that!" Christie insisted with a frown. "It's just that, the details of how I got this fear exactly just aren't there, I was too young to remember how I got this fear."
"So give us an abridged version, we did the same." Steve responded and Christie frowned.
"Fine, just don't tell anyone." Christie conceded and the others nodded. "I'm…I'm scared of Ghost Type Pokémon."
"You're scared of Ghost Type Pokémon?" Steve asked with a confused look on his face. "Encase you've forgotten Ann has a ghost type on her team, her Frosslass."
"I should probably elaborate I'm scared of the Gastly line specifically." Christie responded as she shifted her weight. "Like I said, I was too young to remember it but my mom told me that I had a rather nasty encounter with a Gengar that she owned at the time that liked to play pranks, that Pokémon has lived with Professor Oak ever since but still."
"And because of how young you were you can't remember the details." Steve commented with a confused look on his face. "If you're too young to remember the details then how do you remember being scared of the Gengar line?"
"When I was about seven years old I had a nightmare involving me being chased and terrorized by several Gastlys and Haunters with a Gengar being the leader of the pack." Christie remembered before shuddering. "I told my mom the details the following morning before I went to school, she must've figured that the incident with her Gengar traumatized me in some way."
"Not to poke holes in your story or anything but did your mom ever consider taking you to see a shrink and see if they could figure it out?" Dalton asked and Christie shook her head.
"That's not the problem, since that nightmare I had been to several psychologists but none of them could figure it out." Christie responded before getting a confident grin on her face. "But you want to know what I told my mom the week before my first failed attempt at starting my journey?"
"That you were going to win the Pokémon League ten times in a row?" Steve asked in a deadpan way and Christie face-faulted.
"No! Well okay I did say that but I said that a lot, even more so after I didn't get to start my journey the first time around!" Christie responded as she shook her head. "I told her that one thing that I was planning to do along the way to the Pokémon League was to overcome my fear of the Gengar line by catching a Gastly and raising it until it evolved into a Gengar."
"I'll give you credit, that is a solid plan." Steve admitted with a nod. "Off course you'll have to swap out one of your team members when you do catch one."
"Then again I think her Houndour and Spearrow have to be pretty close to evolving considering how strong they are." Dalton chimed in as he shifted his weight. "Houndour has previous experience under that asshole trainer who hit on you with the subtlety of a hungry Snorlax…."
"When are Snorlax ever not hungry?" Christie asked with a deadpan expression on her face.
"Good point." Dalton conceded with a nod. "And Spearrow probably got a lot of experience from his battles against Houndour and Alex's Pancham so if my guess is correct Spearrow should be evolving into Fearrow soon."
"I'll try to use Spearrow as often as possible to make sure that happens then." Christie responded with a nod before something caught her eye, namely that a bush near the lake was rustling. "Heads up guys, I think there's a Pokémon in that bush over there." Christie said before pointing out the bush and they turned to it.
"Well I saw a few wild Pokémon stop by the lake earlier whilst you were reffing Dalton's match against Jack." Steve responded after thinking for a moment. "My guess is that this lake is a popular water hole for the local wild Pokémon."
"And that probably explains why we saw that Krabby earlier." Dalton nodded in agreement before turning to Christie. "If it's a Wild Pokémon it's all yours, only fair after I caught the Krabby you tried to catch yesterday."
"Yeah, yeah, just don't make a habit of it." Christie responded with a grin before grabbing Spearrow's Pokeball and turning to Growlithe. "Growlithe, I'll need your help encase that Pokémon knocks out Spearrow, understood?" Christie asked and Growlithe nodded before following her trainer down the hill and towards the lake, she kept her distance at first waiting for the Pokémon to emerge from the bush and it did revealing a Starly. "That wasn't what I was expecting." Christie thought before getting her Pokedex out.
"Starly, the Starling Pokémon, they flock in great numbers. Though small, they flap their wings with great power." Christie's Pokedex Entry read out and she pocketed it before activating Spearrow's Pokeball.
"I know I originally planned to wait until after my other Flying Types evolve before I catch another but at least this way Magikarp can have some company at Professor Oak's lab!" Christie thought before tossing the Pokeball and Spearrow emerged from it, at that point Starly looked up and saw Christie before taking flight. "Spearrow, go after him!" Christie commanded and the Spearrow took flight before following him whilst Christie and Growlithe chased on.
"Christie, be careful, I think the ground's still wet from our swim earlier!" Steve called out to her and Christie glanced over her shoulder whilst chasing the Starly and gave him a reassuring look.
"Don't worry I'll be care….." Christie never finished her sentence as she lost her footing on the wet ground causing her to hit the back of her head against the ground knocking her out in the process, to make matters worse the momentum of the fall caused her to fall face-first into the lake.
"OH SHIT!" Steve yelled out before he and the others bolted down the hill to try to get Christie out of the lake, by now Spearrow had turned around wondering what the fuss was about and realized what had happened but Growlithe was the quickest to act as she dove into the water, grabbed her mistress by the back of her shirt and dragged her towards the side of the lake where the others had gathered, once the Pokémon had reached that location Steve helped her get Christie out of the lake. "Christie, can you hear me?" Steve asked but Christie didn't answer. "Where's the nearest hospital?"
"I think the nearest one is Terracotta Town but I don't think we'll be able to get there before the morning comes." Dalton responded before retrieving Christie's Pokeballs and Pokedex. "Fortunately these don't seem to be damaged."
"We'll test them out when we're sure that she's okay, fortunately I know some CPR." Steve responded before he started using CPR on her, after a few tries Christie sat up and started coughing like crazy. "Christie, are you okay?"
"Once I get the taste of lake water out of my mouth I will be." Christie responded once she stopped coughing, after a quick test confirmed that her Pokedex and Pokeballs weren't damaged she sighed. "First you saved me from the Beedrill swarm and now you save me from drowning, I think I need to start saving your ass just so we're even Steve."
"As much as I appreciate that idea all the credit can't go to me." Steve responded as Christie's Eevee approached his trainer clearly concerned for her. "Your Growlithe dragged you to the shore before too much water entered your lungs."
"Wait, seriously?" Christie asked as the Growlithe barked happily in response and she patted her on the head. "I think we should give her an extra big bowl of Pokémon food in the morning."
"Speaking of which, I think it'll be a good idea to get some sleep now before anything else happens and besides, you need to get out of those wet clothes." Ann responded and Christie nodded before getting up gingerly and the teens made their way back to their tents.
