Sakuchii: I'm back to present you another chapter of SOOC.

Yukiko: Oh, I'm surprised that you're back so early. I didn't take you even a year to get an update.

Aiko: You have done some decent job, considering the length of this chapter.

Sakuchii: Omg, do you two always have to be so mean.

Yukiko: It not us who are mean. It's you who makes us mean.

Aiko: Can we start now?

Bet On It!
~ Atsuya x Ohiyoko ~

It was annoying!

Fubuki Atsuya furrowed his eyebrows, his expression darkening. Everything and everyone around him was annoying! His brother, who was head over heels for his girlfriend. That same woman, who aside from his mother was the most beautiful woman he had ever met. His friends, who we exclaiming that he was in love with his brother's girlfriend.

Annoying.

Annoying!

Annoying!

"Atsuya?" The pinkette heard Shirou questioning confused.

"SHUT UP!"

Shirou and Hitomi stopped at the front gate of the school, staring at Atsuya with widened and surprised eyes. The younger brother had always been famous for his furious nature, but they had never witnessed him acting so grumpy. Had he woken up on the wrong side of the bed?

"Atsuya-san, is everything alright? Are you feeling unwell? Maybe you should go to the infirmary." There it was again, Hitomi's consoling worry that was so pure and innocent it made it seem like she had no idea what was the origin of Atsuya's outburst. He didn't want to see her or his brothers' dumb faces for the rest of the day. He had had enough.

"Just shut up! Leave me alone, I'm not a kid!" The pink-head retorted and walk-stomped away from the couple. Shirou and Hitomi were left dumbstruck at the gate, wondering exactly what was bugging the younger Fubuki. Having walked away from the couple, Atsuya sighed. Seeing their stupid faces full of love and affection made him lose his appetite and interest for school. He should totally ask if Sorano and Hyoujou would skip the first lesson with him while hiding in the rooftop.

"Fubuki Atsuya." Just hearing someone calling his name made Atsuya roll his eyes. He ignored the call and continued stomping towards the shoe lockers.

"I can't believe you have the nerve to ignore me. Boys these days don't have any manners. Fubuki Atsuya, stop this very second." The voice continued speaking, but Atsuya decided it was best to keep on ignoring it. He was infamous around the school so the person would surely give up soon. If it was a teacher, then only better. He didn't feel like meeting anyone superior to him. Hearing them nag at him would only piss him off even more and God knows what would happen after that.

So answering to them was out of question.

He should just ignore them and head straight ahead.

"… I see, so this is who you really are. It turns out that the infamous delinquent is nothing more than a coward. I'm quite disappointed." It was an insult that Atsuya wasn't going to let pass just like that. No matter who the person was, they would answer to him clearly and without fail.

"Me? Waving a tail between my legs, hah. In your dreams." The pinkette finally showed some guts to bark back at his insulter. He turned around and glared murderously at the person, whom he recognized immediately as the president of student council.

Wavy ivory-colored hair reaching all the way till middle-back, bangs framing her face. In compare, her eyes were smoky black in color and the contrast between her hair and eyes was outstanding. It was like two raging crows had found their way amidst the cold and sleeping snow blanks. Her uniform was top-notch and the black rimmed glasses gave her the perfect image of an honor student.

The girls' smoky eyes flashed playfully as a smug smirk was decorating her face. "So you're not just some whining puppy. I see that the rumors are true." Konoe Ohiyoko, the president of student council chuckled sarcastically, staring at Atsuya with the most offensive look the boy had seen in ages. Even the third year delinquents weren't as prepared for an open war as she was.

Atsuya clicked his tongue. This girl reeked of trouble and he wasn't in the mood for fights at the moments. "What do you want from me?" He wanted to get out of the situation as fast as possible so that he could skip the first lesson of the rooftop while trying to short out his messed head.

"Oh, you're actually showing signs of submission. I thought you were more of the hotheaded type, but to think that you can act levelheaded." Ohiyoko didn't let the chance to insult Atsuya slip by through her fingers. Seeing that the pinkette was getting angrier by the second, she then decided to get into the topic.

"Your uniform is out of the place. First of all, you need to pull your shirt into your pants and you should also know that keeping your gakuran open is against the school regulations and dress-code. Be sure to have it buttoned from top-to-bottom next time we meet." The offense in her being had disappeared somewhere and now she seemed more like a robot who was just reading a manual.

Atsuya blinked his eyes few times, but growled in the end. He then turned around and waved his hand.

"As if."

"I can't believe that people think that I'm in love with Aniki's girlfriend! That's not true." Sorano and Hyoujou didn't know if they should laugh or cry at Atsuya's endless complains. The ranting had continued ever since Shirou and Hitomi had been recognized as official couple, and it seemed that Atsuya had no plans of stopping anytime soon.

They had to find something to sway Atsuya's attention into another direction.

Sorano and Hyoujou glanced at each other and then nodded. The former boy spoke, interrupting Atsuya's endless ranting. "Say, how about you make a girl fall for you instead. I heard females are weak towards bad boys, so you will surely able to wrap a maiden or another around your little finger."

"What?"

Hyoujou hurried to support his friend's suggestion. They really needed Atsuya to start thinking about something else. "Yeah, you could go for the student council president for example. She's honor student with perfect scores, has nerdy looks and follows the dress-code like it's some kind of scripture." He commented, trying to make Atsuya catch the bite.

Atsuya's eyes narrowed. He felt that the duo was plotting something behind his back; he could literally smell their impure intentions. But they had peeked his interest. He had met the president of student council just moments earlier and had to admit that the girl knew how to fight back. She was truly an intriguing person.

But Atsuya's wasn't willing to do anything for free.

"Then let's make a bet."

"What?" Sorano questioned, equally surprised about suggestion as Atsuya's agreement to their suggestion. He had never thought that Atsuya would actually be simpleton enough to take the bait.

Atsuya kept a short pause, then he flashed them a very boyish smile. "Let's say that if I succeed in making her fall for me in a month, you own me a year worth of lunch." There was actually no need for Atsuya make such bet, because his mother always prepared lunch for him. This suggestion was to make things harder for Sorano and Hyoujou. In case he did win, they were the ones paying for his extra lunch.

"Sure! Let's bet on it!" Hyoujou accepted the offer without any second thought, and ended up receiving dark look from Sorano. The boy shrugged, wondering what he had said wrong and Sorano rolled his eyes. This was a lost case.

Atsuya smirked smugly.

He had a month.

He had tried everything, but her iron wall wasn't breaking down.

There wasn't a method Atsuya hadn't tried while trying to court the president of student council, but Konoe Ohioyoko was standing firm. Instead of falling head over heels for him, the girl was nagging every single time he approached him. If it wasn't about his school uniform he hadn't fixed, then she was telling him to spend his time on something more useful, like studying. They did have exams coming soon.

Her defenses were perfect.

The defeated Fubuki Atsuya sighed loudly while changing his shoes at the lockers. It had been raining the whole day and he was feeling even more depressed because of the gray weather. Sorano and Hyoujou soon joined the pinkette.

"Hey, how about going to arcade today. Because of the weather I don't feel like going home early today." Hyoujou suggested and Sorano agreed with him. Spending the rest of the day inside would bore him to death, he needed activities.

"How about you, Atsuya?" Sorano asked, but the pinkette wasn't listening to him.

His head was turned towards the outdoor, where a female with ivory hair was standing beneath the building while staring at the rain with troubled expression. Atsuya then turned to his friends.

"Atsuya?" Hyoujou asked.

"Sorano, do you have your umbrella with you?"

"Yeah. Why do you ask?"

Atsuya smiled, this could work very well. "I'll be borrowing it. Go to the arcade without me, I have some hearts to crush." He waved his hand while heading towards the girl, holding Sorano's umbrella in his hand. Sorano and Hyoujou glanced at each other with widened eyes, but then smiled.

This was the Fubuki Atsuya they knew.

Ohiyoko had stared at the rain for minutes already and took a deep breath. To think that she would make such fatal mistake as leave her umbrella home. The girl was ready to make a dash for it, when a black umbrella was suddenly opened next to her and a familiar pinkette boy glanced at the girl.

"It would be the most amusing thing of my life to see you get all wet in the rain, but I feel too sorry for you to allow that happen." Atsuya commented, flashing a playful smirk at the girl. The girl glanced at him with dumbstruck expression, and the boy realized that her eyes had slight bags beneath.

The girl kept staring at the boy, but eventually gave out a slight sigh. "I would love to see your face the moment I rejected your offer, but I'm too considered of your feels to do so. It would strike your pride maybe a little too much." If he wasn't going to be honest with words, then she had no choice but to play along. In truth, she was more than glad to have Atsuya save her from getting wet.

Atsuya cracked a laugh. "I see that student council president isn't honest with her feelings. You need to do more than that to hurt my pride."

"Like you're the one to speak. Then do you actually wish for me to refuse you." Ohiyoko puffed her cheeks, seeing how Atsuya was just playing around with her. She hated it when people were doing something half-heated.

"No. I would actually be very fortunate if you shared this umbrella with me."

The last words caught Ohiyoko off-guard and she stopped with the insults. She looked down and slowly moved behind the umbrella, not sure how to face the boy anymore. Atsuya showed a pleased smile and the duo headed towards Ohiyoko's.

Ohiyoko wasn't the only one who was surprised of the sudden changes in Atsuya's behavior. Sorano and Hyoujou were staring at the couple with widened eyes. The latter then turned to his friend. "Did you just see that?"

Sorano nodded while gulping. "I've never seen him with such honest smile."

This wasn't the Fubuki Atsuya they knew.

Atsuya took Ohiyoko all the way to her front door and the girl thanked him. The pinkette let out a laugh. "If you ever forget your umbrella, come and search me. I might consider lending to a spot beside me if I'm in good mood." He made an offer to the girl, that was so like him.

Ohiyoko couldn't help but to crack a smile. "I'd rather die than share an umbrella with you again." Her refusal was blunt, but her smoky eyes were laughing like two young ravens in summer day. Atsuya was caught in her stare, when she then lowered her glance.

"Thanks." The girl smiled with the sincerest expression he had ever seen from her. After that the girl dashed inside, having her bag to cover he head for most of the rain. Atsuya stared at the girl going and she turned for the last time to wave at him. Seeing her open the door, the pinkette was about to go, when her shocked cry reached his ears.

"AKIRA!"

Without any second thought, Atsuya dashed to the girl's side and found a young boy with wavy smoky-black hair collapsed at the entrance. "What's wrong with him?" Atsuya's question made Ohiyoko to gather herself and she rushed to her brother's side.

As his whole face was burning red, Ohiyoko placed her hand on Akira's forehead. It was welcomed by overwhelming heat. The ivory-head turned to Atsuya. "He's running a fever. At it seems pretty high one." The girl explained, and Atsuya came to her to help the boy up.

He let Akira lean on his body and the young boy was breathing heavily. Wherever Atsuya touched the boy, he felt his body boiling from heat. Atsuya looked at Ohiyoko. "His fever is too high, we need to call an ambulance."

"WE CAN'T!" Ohiyoko's yell was desperate.

Atsuya stared at her, and the girl lowered her head. "We can't call an ambulance. We don't have enough money to pay the fees." Ohiyoko kept a short pause. "Akira has been suppressing his fever, because we don't have enough money to even buy proper medicine. I thought that he was getting better, because he has been so cheerful lately, but now it seems that his condition is even worse than before."

Atsuya had made up his mind before Ohiyoko had finished her explanation. "Call an ambulance, we need to take him to the hospital." His condition was far too bad to be cured by simple cold medicine. They needed to see a doctor.

"But!"

"No buts. He needs to see a doctor immediately. Don't worry about the fees, I'll take care of them." Atsuya assured the girl and finally Ohiyoko seemed to be willing enough to co-operate with him. The ambulance came in an hour, and they received instructions how to take care of the boy while they were waiting for it.

Ohioyoko was able to calm down only after she had received the news that Akira's condition had been stabilized and that he was getting treatment to his fever. Atsuya walked to the girl who was sitting on the hallway and offered her a drink while sitting down next to her. "His condition seems to been stabilized."

"Yes. The doctor said that we arrived just in time. If he had stayed that way for any longer, his body could've been permanently damaged." The girl sighed while taking a drink from her drink. "It's not really me to say this, but thank you for saving my brother, Fubuki-kun. It's because of you that Akira is alive, I don't know how I would've survived if I had lost him too."

Atsuya just kept on listening as Ohiyoko spoke. Once she had stopped, the girl then leaned against the pinkette's shoulder. "How can I ever repay this to you?" The girl then mumbled between her breaths. Atsuya looked down at her.

"Then how about a kiss?"

Atsuya cracked a joke and Ohiyoko looked at him. He let out a laugh implying that her was joking, but before he could comprehend anything, the girl was already leaning toward him and their lips made contact. The pinkette froze to that place and he didn't move an inch after Ohiyoko broke the kiss.

The girl let out a vivid giggle. "That's a reward for saving my brother. When it comes to the money, I will surely pay you back even it means I need to work to death. I don't like being indebted to people." Her expression was playful and she then stood up and left the poor pinkette frozen in the hallway.

Atsuya was sure of one thing.

He needed to stop it.

"Where exactly are you taking me to? I find this whole scene very troubling and we're drawing far too much attention to my liking." Atsuya heard Ohiyoko complaining as he was dragging the girl along him. Everyone's eyes were at them, and for a reason. He was the schools most infamous delinquent and she happened to be the president of student council. A normal person was dumb enough to understand that they weren't supposed to be seen together.

"Stop complaining and follow me. You'll find out soon enough." Atsuya took her higher and higher by the staircase until they reached rooftop. The pinkette used a copy-key he had created after stealing the master key and opened the door.

Ohioyoko was amazed at the sight of rooftop. She glanced at Atsuya and started to speak in order to hide her confusion. "So this is where you are when skipping your lessons, I need to keep this place in mind in case you decide to skip lessons in the future. Hand out the key to me, I'm confiscating it."

Atsuya seemed unpleased but handed the key to Ohiyoko who hid it in her bag. He didn't mind the loss much, because he had four other copies of the master key – just in case he was to lose them someday. Sorano and Hyoujou held the same amount of copies, so there was no way Ohiyoko could keep them away from the rooftop.

"What are we doing here? Spit it out." The girl then retorted, seeing that Atsuya wasn't giving much of a reaction.

Atsuya gave her annoyed glance. "Calm down already. I told you that you'll find it soon enough. Has anyone ever told that you have no patience?" The boy replied, surprising Ohiyoko with his sudden complain. The girl looked down.

"Not that I know of. You're the first one." She answered, still unable to face Atsuya.

"Good. I'm more than happy to be your first when it comes to things." He said without thinking and Ohiyoko gave him a shocked look. Only after thinking over his words, Atsuya realized his unwanted implies and now it was his time to avert his eyes.

Atsuya and the awkward atmosphere was saved by voices that entered the rooftop. "Atsuya, what did you want to talk about? Why did you call us to the rooftop, we could've talked about it normal- Oh?" Sorano stopped the moment he noticed Ohiyoko. The boy turned to Atsuya with questioning look.

"The president of student council?" Hyuoujou looked surprised.

Ohiyoko greeted the two boys with a nod, her expression sharpening. Atsuya turned to the duo and spoke. "I know a month hasn't passed yet, but I just wanted to announce to you that I lost the bet – she overwhelmed me completely. I fell for her, but she hasn't shown any signs of even turning my way."

With this the bet was over and the tie between them was broken. Atsuya could finally return back to his days of finding something to complain about his older brother and his girlfriend. Everything would return back to how it had been before the stupid bet. If he was lucky enough, he would eventually forget these stupid feelings he had towards the girl.

Atsuya glanced at Ohiyoko. "Well then, miss student council president. I had fun spending these weeks while trying to court you, but as you said we draw to much attention if we hang out together so from now own I will make sure to keep my distance." With that he had said everything he needed and was ready to let go of her. He needed to find an isolated place where he could go all depressed on his own accord.

"You're wrong."

Ohiyoko's words stopped Atsuya.

He turned around to her in surprise.

"You didn't lose, liar. Ah, so this was all part of a bet – to make me fall for you, apparently? I thought it was strange that the infamous Fubuki Atsuya had gotten so clingy all of sudden. You were annoying as hell and there were times when I hoped you would get run over by a car." Ohiyoko ranted, making Atsuya's eyes to widen every second.

"But in the end, you're not half bad. Even if it was all part of an act, you were kind enough to escort me home and you saved my brother. Beneath that delinquent appearance there's actually a pretty decent guy. I don't particularly hate you."

She was aware that Atsuya had been lying to her the whole time, but she had been cautious of him ever since he had first started to court her. His behavior seemed strange and it was weird how he suddenly was paying so much attention to her, despite never appearing before her till that day. She had had her doubts, and acted cautious every time when with him, but in the end he had managed to capture her.

Atsuya's eyes widened in surprise. "Ohiyoko." This was his first time to be calling her by name and he was already using the first name basics. "I really l-"

"Since you really seem to like bets, how about making a new one with me?" Ohiyoko interrupted Atsuya's confession while looking thoughtful. A wide smirk was surely appearing on her face and she saw the doubtful look on Atsuya's face.

"A bet?"

Not again!

"Yep. The first one to confess their feelings toward other loses." Ohiyoko's smiled all too playfully and Atsuya knew that she must be scheming something. This couldn't be all there is.

"What will the winner receive?" The pinkette questioned.

A mischievous giggle as Ohiyoko approached Atsuya. "I kiss from the loser." She announced proudly while grabbing Atsuya from his collar and drawing him closer to her. She stared at him with those smoky-black eyes of her.

Atsuya's eyes started to sparkle playfully.

This was more like it.

"Then Konoe Ohiyoko president of student council. Let me have the honor of hearing you confess your feelings." He had already admitted to himself and his friends that he was in love with her. But at the moment he was more interested in hearing her confession – and even more than the confession, he wanted to receive another kiss from the ivory-head.

He couldn't wait for the day to happen.

[Meanwhile, Sorano and Hyoujou wondered if the two had completely forgotten their presence.]

Ohiyoko wasn't going to give in so easily. Because he was the one who suggested the bet, she was sure to hear the boys' confession first. "I have to admit that you, Fubuki Atsuya, surely know how to sweet-talk to women, but you need to do better than this to win me over. If only you would stop being so stubborn and confess your feelings and then reward me with a kiss, then things would be so much easier for both of us."

Atsuya smirked at Ohiyoko's words and their laughs echoed in the rooftop.

Bet on it!

Sakuchii: I enjoyed writing about this couple so much! I have always wanted to try writing about a couple who clearly showed their affection but weren't honest with their words [Not Tsundere]. So I ended up challenging myself with these dynamics and it was alot of fun!

Aiko: You also managed to avoid most of the clichee scenes in this chapter - expected for the brother collapsed from fever.

Sakuchii: Ohiyoko isn't really your typical shoujo-herione. She knew how to act out when seeing her brother collapsed. I thought about making her overhear Atsuya's conversation about the bet and then made a big scene about it, but I think this fits Atsuya's and Ohiyoko's personality more.

Yukiko: Since you're re-writing Prince and The Pauper, will Ohiyoko's personality be anything close to this Ohiyoko.

Sakuchii: I'll aim for it, but there will be differences too.

Aiko: The next story's pairing is Toramaru x Razel and Title (as of now) "Tiger and Rapuzel"

Yukiko: Stay tuned, and leave your thoughts about this chapter.
