Rise of the commonwealth re-write
Chapter 19
Planet Remnant

Star Date: 6th March 2158
(30 minutes before slaver raid)
Emerald forest
Alucard and Garrus had been walking through the forest for a good half an hour now when they came upon a clearing and decided to take a short rest to make sure their heading was correct and that they were not being stalked by any more of those creatures, after the brief encounter earlier they had met nothing else.
"What do you reckon how much longer?"
"I'd say about an hour and half, maybe two if we are delayed."
"We're making good time then."
"I'd say so, however have you given thought about how we're going to get up to the castle, I doubt it's going to be easy getting up a sheer cliff face to get there." As they got closer they realized the castle like structure was atop a large sheer cliff face, they were still debating how to get up there with the limited gear they had on hand, and they were still in this discussion when they heard movement, coming towards them.
"Hide." Said Alucard simply as he cloaked, Garrus hid in the foliage the two 'men' were waiting for a minute or so when 6 people entered the clearing, all of them were easily recognizable.
"Are you sure they're around here Ruby?"
"Pretty sure, Ozpin said they were heading towards Beacon from where they were last seen, so it makes sense that they would take a direct route so we'll bump into them, have some faith Weiss"
"I'll just be happy to see another Turian, being around you humans for so long means you're starting to rub off on me." Commented Saren in his Spectre gear
"Oh Saren and I thought you loved us lot." said Yang dramatically.
"Ha, if that happens I'll kiss a vorcha."
"Shhh, something's wrong" said Blake suddenly, the group looked around the clearing and realized immediately she was right, it was far too quiet.
"DROP YOUR WEAPONS AND PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR" commanded an authoritive voice from the tree line. Surprised the group made a circle facing the tree line, that was until Ruby was yanked away from the group and once again found herself at the mercy of the cloaked alien operative.
"RUBY!" Shouted WBY
"Blackguard!" Cried Marcus and Saren
"Damn it not again" whined Ruby. The armored figure emerged as well rifle aimed at the girls; Saren immediately recognized the patches and markings on the individual's armor.
"Garrus, the council sent you to rescue me?"
"Yes both of you, the council and commonwealth both decided to make this a joint op; my guess is this was a test to see if we could work together." Marcus meanwhile was studying the Blackguard holding Ruby who was more exasperated than frightened, it finally clicked in his mind who was holding Ruby hostage, the things name had crossed his desk back at overwatch a good number of times, now he was finally meeting Sir Integra's 'pet vampire', her personal assassin.
"Your Alucard, Sir Integra's personal assassin aren't you?" Alucard cocked his head to the side in what Marcus took as surprise.
"You're a sharp one aren't you."
"Yes not to be rude but could you let the young girl go." Alucard seemed to ponder this for a second or so before deciding to trust the intelligence operative and released Ruby.
"Gah, thanks Marcus."
"Lieutenant Report." Immediately Marcus snapped to attention.
"Sir, after I tracked spectre Saren as he landed on this planet, I followed him as he scouted the area and when I confronted him he attacked me, he was about to finish me when the four girls here neutralized both of us and took us to their local school where we have been ever since." Alucard seemed to glare at Saren when Marcus said that Saren went to 'finish him'.
"Spectre Saren did you attempt to murder a commonwealth agent?" the girls who had been quietly talking amongst themselves and checking on Ruby quieted down when Alucard asked this question.
"Yes is this a problem" faster than anyone could blink Alucard closed the distance between himself and Saren a hand clasped around Saren's throat hard enough to constrict the flow of air and blood causing Saren to splutter and gasp as he paled and clawed at Alucard's arm.
"Attempted murder of a commonwealth agent is punishable by summary execution, and since we are technically still in the commonwealth sphere of influence that law still applies, even to spectres." Saren scowled at Alucard, Garrus was unsure whether to help Saren or not and the girls were silently freaking out about what to do.
"But, since Lt Marcus Roy doesn't want to follow through with this law you are off the hook… for now." Explained Alucard as he released Saren who glared at Alucard before they turned their gaze to Ruby as she cleared her throat to get their attention.
"Right now that's over we need to take you two to beacon."
"Sorry orders were to find these two; diplomats will arrive to negotiate with your people soon." Explained Garrus.
"Yeah hehehe about that… there…um-"
"There is a Batarian slaver fleet in system moving toward Remnant; it'll be in orbit in about 30 minutes." Interrupted Marcus
"Yeah… what he said" finishd Ruby, Alucard and Garrus looked at each other then back at the group.
"We need to hurry."

Beacon Academy-Ozpins office
Ozpin's office had been converted into an impromptu command and control centre for Vale's armed forces there were two men besides Ozpin in the room with General Ironwood present over in holographic form.
"Whats' the current situation?" asked the General Lagoon who was in charge of Vales military.
"Hostile forces have made quick and precise strikes against vital areas in the city, communications and transport systems are down, reports state that civilians are being rounded up by the invaders and shipped off world, for what reason I dare not imagine." Reported Arnold Portman Vale's chief of police before asking "Where is our reinforcements?"
"The 1st, 8th and 12th mechanized infantry divisions have been mobilized and are en-route eta is 1 hour 30 minutes; the 2nd air fleet has also been deployed but is still 5 hours out. The rest of our ground forces are trying to fend off the invasion in other areas around the kingdom" replied Lagoon.
"What about you Ironwood?" asked Ozpin
"We are currently dealing with the invaders in our kingdom, we have managed to halt their ground invasion but we can't clump together without risking getting shelled from orbit."
"Ozpin you said earlier that you may have a solution for us" spoke Portman suddenly.
"Yes, a team of first years accompanied by my school's 'guests' went into the emerald forest in search of a pair of soldier belonging to the commonwealth and the council, both of which you all have hopefully been briefed on by now?" he received nods all around "Good, now hopefully when the girls find these two they can call their respective governments for aid."
"What makes you think they'll answer?"
"I don't know, I just hope."

Emerald forest
The group of 8 beings quickly made their way through the emerald forest, the distant sound of explosions and gunfire sending chills of fear down the spines of the four young remnantines. They were just about to reach the clearing a bull head they had called earlier arranged to meet them when there was a loud roaring sound akin to engines, as a pair of shuttles shot over head and preceded to land in the clearing the bull head was parked, there was the sounds of shouting, gunfire then silence.
"Shit, without the bullhead were not getting to beacon anytime soon, let's go quickly before they decide to scavenge or destroy it" spat Marcus. The group double timed it to the landing site and were greeted by the sight of the Bullhead's crew either in chains with an explosive collar around their necks or dead on the floor, surrounding them were a mixed band of Batarians, Turians, Krogan and Asari.
"These humans don't seem to be like the humans we've already encountered." Observed a Turian
"What makes you say that?" asked an Asari
"I fought the 'regular' humans on the citadel before leaving and joining the Blue suns, while these were stronger and more durable in a physical sense, they fight like they haven't fought anything since joining their army"
"Okay… so what's your point?" asked a Krogan
"The humans I fought, fought like professionals, comparing these guys to the humans I fought is like comparing a toddler with a gun to a spectre." While the band of mercs was having their conversation they were blissfully unaware of the two council and two commonwealth soldiers maneuvering themselves into an advantageous position. Almost as soon as their conversation finished a volley of mass accelerated and plasma coated slugs slammed into and through their shields and armor. The 4 remnatines remained silent and watched the brutal efficiency the two pairs used to dispatch the invaders.
"Clear confirm" Shouted Alucard
"Confirmed clear" Responded Garrus
"Good let's move" the group made their into the bull head which was thankfully still intact, they powered up the dust aircraft while Ruby contacted Ozpin.
"Professor this is Ruby, can you hear me?" Static for all of 3 seconds before a response came over her scroll.
"Ruby, it's Glynda, Ozpin is pre-occupied at the moment coordinating Beacons defense a sizeable force of enemies landed here not long ago, he is trying coordinate with General Lagoon and Chief Constable Portman. What is your ETA?"
"We had a bit of a delay but we should be able to reach Beacon within 9 minutes."
"Good you need to hurry, Portmans officers are being slaughtered and Lagoons men are still well over an hour away hurry!" with that the line went silent and the group with it as they began to pilot the bull head towards beacon.
They were in the air for about 6 minutes and were nearing their destination when something went horribly wrong. A large crack filled the air deafening them all temporarily followed by a flash then a roaring shockwave as a MAC round slammed into beacon. In an instant a once proud school was reduced to naught but blasted rubble and scorched earth. Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang all looked on shell shocked as their home was destroyed in front of them.
"No…"
The bull head carried on in silence seemingly in mourning of what had just occurred, they arrived at the ruin to find dazed and confused students milling about or helping those injured in the blast, dead and dying were strewn all around, including…
"JAUNE!" Ruby cried as she ran to her friend, she kneeled beside him as pyrrha held his hand, his leg was completely gone belong the leg blood pouring out in gouts, his face was pale and his limbs growing slacker.
"r-r-ruby, it's good… to see you" jaune managed to see you.
"Shh Jaune save your strength, HELP!" cried Pyrrah as the rest of RWBY joined their leader.
"Jaune." They all said somberly, he looked at them all and gave them a weak grin.
"It's okay, I'm ready."
"No Jaune don't you ever say that we need you… I need you" begged Pyrrah a tear streaking down her face. He looked at her and pulled her in for a quick kiss before his body went slack and his life left him.
"No" whispered Weiss
"Jaune" Sobbed Ruby
"JAUNE!" Cried Pyrrah, they heard footsteps and looked up to see a bloodied Ren walking over carrying… a familiar body.
"Nora's gone" he said laying the girls corpse on the ground next to Jaune his voice was shaking it was clear he wasn't holding up well.
"Why, why did this have to happen?" Ruby questioned in between sobs.
"I can't answer that Ruby" they all looked up to see Alucard stood there "But if we don't get help, this" he said gesturing to the two corpses "will be repeated everywhere."
"But the shell blasted the CTT out of existence, without it we can't get any transmissions outside of Vale let alone Remnant Orbit." Said a somber Yang, Alucard seemed to freeze at this.
"We've failed them" said Marcus in a soft voice.
Or so they thought.
"Attention all local forces, this is Admiral Stephen Burling of the 6th commonwealth Battle group, prepare for immediate assistance."
"This is Admiral Oraka of the Turian Hierarchy's 6th fleet to any and all local forces prepare for immediate reinforcements."

Boom done, and next chapter the fighting for remnant truly begins, we will have battle scenes both space and ground based and then we move onto the negotiations stage, then we are finished with the cross over arc.
Also I will be putting up a poll on my profile page to vote what Remnant should do come the outcome of the negotiations.
