The moment after Lloyd destroyed Mithos's Exsphere, he was numb.
He almost hadn't believed it when he saw Mithos's not-quite-there form appear after they'd struck the final blow - dead, Mithos was dead? - and now he was gone, really, truly gone.
And Lloyd had killed him.
Where had he gone wrong? No, no, it was Mithos who had gone wrong, because Lloyd had tried, they'd all tried, and Mithos had only turned away. Lloyd had held out his hand and Mithos had knocked it away. And Lloyd wasn't even the one Mithos had hurt the most. The look on Genis's face was almost too much for Lloyd to bear.
Mithos could've lived with them in their world. Together.
They'd done everything they could. If there was anything else they knew of, anything else they could've done, they would've done it in a heartbeat. They hadn't wanted it to end this way. If only Mithos had been willing to change. If only he'd been willing to choose a different path when he could.
If only they'd known how to save a life.
