***Jauregui Residence, Malibu CA 10AM***
Dylan sat on the bed, watching his best friend in amusement as she paced back and forth from her walk-in closet to her full-length mirror. She must have tried on ten different outfits, but tossed them all to the side, none of them satisfactory.
"What about this one?" The green-eyed beauty turned to her best friend as she held up a blouse.
"Hmm..." His eyebrows furrowed.
"'Hmm?'" Her eyes wide, "ugh, you hate it!" She tossed the blouse to the side.
This is TOO HARD, I'm NEVER gonna find the perfect outfit.
"Being a woman is WAAAAYYYY to complicated sometimes." She sighed making her way back into her closet.
"Sometimes?" Dylan shot back, "come on Lauren, just pick an outfit! You promised me breakfast!"
"And I will make good on my promise," she popped her head out of the closet, making eye contact with her best friend. "We'll go to the pancake house okay?"
"Yesssss!" His voice reflecting happiness as he watched her head disappear once again. "So what time is your date tonight?"
The porcelain skin girl walked out with a couple more outfits in hand, tossing them on the chair next to the mirror. "Umm, I'm picking her up around 7pm." She answered looking at her reflection, clearly nervous.
Dylan began to chuckle, "WHAT?" She glared at him from the mirror.
"I've just," he paused to think, "lets just say it's been awhile since I've seen you THIS nervous for a date." He laughed slapping his leg.
"I'm glad you find my nervousness comical, NOT...dick!" They both began to laugh.
"You know what's funny?" He perked an eyebrow at her.
"No...what?"
"It's STILL Camila," he chuckled shaking his head back and forth.
***Flashback 9 Years Ago***
Lauren was back in Miami for a few days since Fifth Harmony had some time off in between performances and their recordings. She jogged around her neighborhood, which was something she loved to do since she could remember. Running gave her time to herself; time to clear her head.
The brunette must have ran six miles before making her way to her best friends house.
~CLANK-CLANK-CLANK~
She threw pebbles at her best friend's window; she needed to talk.
"Lauren!" Dylan yelled in a whisper pushing the window open, "it's 6am! As much as I love you and I'm happy you're home, this BETTER be good!" He gestured for her to come up.
Lauren sat on the floor, back against the wall with her legs crossed. She remained silent for a few minutes as she fiddled with her fingers, her best friend's eyes on her the entire time.
"This is the part where you start talking..." he crossed his arms, eyes still visibly tired.
Her soft green eyes met his, "I kissed Camila last week." She finally let out.
He abruptly stood up from his bed, "you what?!" His eyes wide, "did she kiss you back?" He asked softly, noticing her tense body language.
The green-eyes girl stood up, pacing back and forth, "yeah," she smiled remembering the night they kissed in front of the city lights. "It was amazing, she's amazing."
"Yeah...that's my girl!" He said proudly, "wait, then why did you look like a mess a second ago?" He bluntly asked.
"I asked her out on a date and it's tonight." She said fiddling with her fingers once again.
"Hold the phone! Lauren Jauregui, are you NERVOUS?" His eyes amused at the sight in front of him.
"Shut it!" She shot him a look. "Okay, I'm a little nervous."
"A little?" His face questioned as she rolled her eyes, "it's 6am for crying out loud, you're more than just A LITTLE nervous." He chuckled.
"You're such a dick!" She chuckled along with him.
***End Of Flashback***
"What about this one?" Lauren walked out with a skintight black dress that hugged every curve of her body.
"Wow Laur, you look beautiful, that's the one." He nodded up and down.
***The Original Pancake House***
"Did I make good on my promise or what?!" Both their eyes were wide, mouths watery as the waiter brought out a stack of chocolate chip pancakes and two omelets.
That's probably one of the main reasons they got along so well. They could both eat! Yes, Lauren was fit and a girl, but she certainly didn't eat like it. They both devoured their pancakes and omelets, salty and sweet; they always had to have both.
"I am so full, I'm ready for a food coma nap." He said leaning back.
"Me too." She said taking one last bite of the pancakes before the plate was taken away.
"How you keep your figure and stay so fit, I'll never understand." He said looking at his best friend with her mouth full.
"It's a gift," she smiled. "Oh and you know a personal trainer and the gym five times a week never hurts." She chuckled.
"Truth!" He said taking a sip of his coffee, "so, back to business, we need to decide on what set we're going to do for the Victoria Secret Fashion Show."
"Oh yeah, that's right, that's this Friday?" Lauren crossed her arms in thought.
"REALLY? YOU forgot?" He laugh, "Camila definitely has you sprung."
"What? Nooooo!"
"NOOOO?"
"Okay maybe a little." She shook her head, "the fashion show should be fun; I'm thinking all upbeat songs so the ladies can have fun while they walk."
"Agreed. I love them fashion shows." Dylan winked at her, "hoping to take some of the girls home with me." His smile was devilish.
"I'm sure you will." She wiggled her eyebrows, "especially since you won't have ME as your competition and all." She said teasingly.
"Ha! You're funny!" He said before taking another sip, "you sure you don't wanna reconsider this whole, one woman gal thing?" Dylan said joking; he knows how much Lauren loves the brown-eyed girl. "You are the best wingman I've EVER had."
She laughed at her best friend, "I'm sure." She smiled from ear to ear at the thought of the younger brunette, "besides I can STILL be your wingman, I just CAN'T be stupid." She said looking down, "I have a lot of groveling to do still." She flashed him a half smile.
"Yeah you do!" He laughed shaking his head, "okay well lets try and narrow everything down in the next two days so we can give the guys the set list to play."
She nodded in agreement.
***J. Cabello Residence, West Hollywood, CA 645PM***
Camila walked out into the living where her cousin was watching TV. "So, what do you think?"
She spun around, wanting to get a last minute approval from her cousin. Camila wore a skintight red dress that molded to her fit body perfectly, red lipstick on her full, plump lips, her hair draped to one side, black stilettos, black clutch and topped it off with a black hair bow.
"I see you're trying to give Lauren a heart attack tonight." He said with a confident grin.
"Maybe." She smiled sweetly.
"Well whether you mean to or not, she's definitely having one."
"Thanks Jay." She looked herself over one more time, her facial expression unsettled.
"You okay Mila?" Jason asked noticing how tense she was.
The younger brunette exhaled, turning around to meet his gaze. "I'm just a little hesitant."
"Hey...one step at a time, you don't have to decide how or how you don't feel all in one night."
"That's just it," she sighed, "if it were up to my feelings, this would be simple. My heart knows who it belongs to and who it wants. It's just...I just don't know if I can completely trust Lauren."
"Like I said, one step at a time and if it were anyone else, I would tell you to leave the chump, but it's not JUST anyone else and I know how much you love her and I know how much she loves you; I see it."
"I love you Jay." She bent down to give her cousin a big hug.
***The Rooftop at The Standard, Downtown Los Angeles, CA 730PM***
Lauren had reserved the entire outdoor rooftop area so they could be alone, the views of the city lights could be seen from every angle; it was a beautiful night.
"Dinner was delicious." The younger brunette exclaimed; her shimmering brown eyes locked with the green ones across the table, "and this view, it's absolutely breathtaking; thank you."
"I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner." She smiled at the younger girl, before turning her gaze towards the city lights. "I remember the first time I came here, maybe five years or so ago," she sighed as her green eyes narrowed towards the view that encompassed her, "I remember looking at the city lights and all I could see was you." She let out as she shook her head, lightly chuckling at the thought.
Camila could feel the strings on her heart being tugged, her pulse a little faster than before as she reached across the table, lacing their fingertips, "what Lo," she said softly, "what is it?" She couldn't help but smile at the green-eyed girl who adorably chuckled.
She is SO cute when she chuckles and she has that look on her face, childlike, innocent, vulnerable, MY Lauren.
Glistening emerald eyes locked with bright brown orbs, "you and me," she shook her head slightly leaning back on her chair, almost lost, "we were so young," she swallowed hard as Camila rubbed her hand with her thumb, "I still remember the moment I realized I was in love with you." She smiled to herself, lost in thought.
Camila's heart was pumping; overwhelmed with all that she was hearing and the look written all over the older brunette's face, washing her doubts away. "Lo," her heart filled with all the love she had for the green-eyed girl in front of her, "I lov-"
"Excuse me, Ms. Jauregui." The waiter interrupted as both brunettes snapped their heads towards him.
"I said we didn't want to be disturbed." The irritated green-eyed beauty said in a sharp tone.
"I know Ms. Jauregui and I do apologize, but we have a guest who insisted on saying hi to you and she said she was SURE you wouldn't mind. Normally we would NEVER take such a request seriously but it's Ms. Ses-"
"She calls me Nat," a tall gorgeous woman approached the table, "thank you." She said to the waiter before he walked away. "Hi Lauren," she said with a mischievous smile.
Lauren stood up, "Nat," she gave her a hug, "so good to see you." She said a little jittery.
"It's REALLY nice to see you Lauren." Her tone was impish.
Camila crossed her arms, eyebrows scrunched as her eyes narrowed at the sight in front of her. As quickly as her doubts were removed they invaded her at twice that speed.
Who the hell is THIS? Is she flirting with HER?
"Wow, I'm so rude, who's THIS, your FRIEND?"
Not to be conceited, but how the HELL does she not know who I am.
Camila perked up an eyebrow; she was about to lose it.
"Natalia, meet Camila Cabello, Camz, this is Natalia Sestito. She's a Victoria Secret model, the fashion show I'm singing at this Friday."
Stay calm Jauregui, you're fine; just stay calm.
"Nice to meet you Camila." She said before quickly turning her attention back to the brunette in front of her. "Well Lauren," she grabbed her arm, "glad I got to say hi and can't wait to see you do your thing on Friday." She winked before making her exit.
Lauren turned her attention back to Camila who was clearly fuming. "I'm ready to go." She stood up.
"Camz-" she was cut off before she could say anything else.
"I said I'm ready to go." Her voice was firm as she made her way past the green-eyed girl.
The car ride was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Lauren didn't know what to say, but she knew she had to say something.
"I'm really sorry about that Camz, I told them to not disturb us." She finally let out as she glanced at the still silent girl next to her.
"Well she certainly thought she was important enough to interrupt and she was sooooo SURE you wouldn't mind." The younger brunette was not happy. "How do you even KNOW her?" Brown eyes glared at the older brunette.
"Wh-wha-" Lauren's breathing picked up, "I'm sorry what?"
"Did you NOT hear me?" Camila spat, "how do you know her? It's a simple question."
"I met her at an event, we've worked together a few times." The green-eyed girl answered not making eye contact; she was flustered with the entire situation.
The younger girl chuckled mockingly as she unbuckled her seatbelt "Right. Thanks for dinner Lauren." She quickly got out the car.
"Camila." Lauren jumped out of the car, running after the brown-eyed girl, grabbing her arm turning her around, "what just happened? Tonight, it was perfect, what happened?"
"You're right Lauren it WAS perfect, until your FRIEND decided to say hi." She said rolling her eyes, "I can't even do this with you right now, I'm tired, and it's late, thanks for dinner. Goodnight Lauren."
"Camila…"
"What?"
"Can I see you tomorrow?"
Camila closed her eyes for a split second, "maybe, I'm really busy tomorrow," she lied; her heart completely guarded.
"Alright…well I'll call you tomorrow, maybe if you have time…"
"Yeah, maybe. Goodnight." Camila could feel the tears forming in her eyes so she quickly turned towards the door, walking in and closing it shut behind her as she fell against it; burying her head against her knees letting the tears fall from her eyes.
It was a long drive home for Lauren. She was completely distraught over what just happened. The night had been so perfect up until the end. She replayed the scene over and over in her head, asking herself if she did anything wrong. The fact of the matter was it didn't really matter if she did anything wrong or not; what MATTERED was how she made Camila feel. She knew she handled it all wrong and it left her completely discombobulated.
FUCK!
