Chapter 17 - Dimly Lit
'Shut your face Malfoy.' Lestiaten shouted.
Larissa heard the door slam, and they were in complete darkness.
'Larissa?' Draco whispered, it seemed like he could barely talk,
'Yes that's right. We've got your little girlfriend here Malfoy. Now you'd better give us some answers or you can watch us Crucio her.'
Lestiaten threw Larissa down onto the floor, it was pitch black, but she could hear Draco's faint breathing. Slowly, she silently crawled along the floor to him. Draco leant into her, and she wrapped her arms around him, he was freezing.
'Now we are going to leave you both in here for a while, and Mister Malfoy, you'd better have changed your mind by the time we're back.'
The door opened, and a little light came into the room, but it was gone just as quickly as it had come.
'How long have you been in here?' Larissa asked,
'A while...' Draco replied hoarsely.
'It'll be okay.'
'No it won't.'
'Why are you such a pessimist?'
'Why are you such an optimist?'
'Trust me I'm not.'
'Oh I think you are...'
'You don't know the half of it...'
'What?'
'It doesn't matter...'
They sat there for a while, in the cold darkness before Larissa realised something.
'What 'answers' do they want from you?'
'Erm...'
'You can't tell me can you?'
'Not really, no.' He said after a moment's hesitation.
Larissa was about to say something else, but she remembered that it would only make Draco avoid her, her hand flew to her leg, as she felt a sharp pain in her cuts upon thinking about it.
'Are you alright?'
'I'm fine.' Larissa replied a little more forcefully than needed.
'Okay, okay...'
'I'm sorry.'
'It's alright.'
Footsteps could be heard from outside the door, and again, as before, the door opened and a small amount of light filled the room, but one of the boys lit some of the candle wall lights with his wand, and the dim light remained, Larissa noticed that only three of the five boys had returned.
'I hope you've been thinking Malfoy.' A dark haired boy said from where the door was, Larissa presumed that this was Lestiaten, no longer impersonating Draco.
Draco made a small noise of acknowledgement in reply.
'Now you'd better tell us, or your little cousin girlfriend here will get Crucio'd.'
'Right, now I'm going to ask you this once, and once only.'
'Wait.' One of the others cut in, he pulled out his wand and pointed it at Larissa. 'We can't have her telling the Potter boy now can we?' He cast a charm on Larissa, and she couldn't hear a thing. She could see their lips move, but all sounds were absent.
{xxx}
After a while, the boys seemed to be finished and they took the charm off of Larissa.
'Malfoy, we're done with you. Your information was most helpful.' Lestiaten smirked, 'but we're not done with her. You can go, but if you even think for a moment that you can run and tell anybody anything, just remember; we have your little cousin girlfriend here, wandless, and at our mercy.'
Larissa looked at Draco, fear was evident in both their eyes, but Draco nodded and silently left.
'Now little missy.' Lestiaten said, 'what were you doing down by the Slytherin common rooms? You quite clearly aren't a Slytherin.'
'I was coming to see Draco.' Larissa replied quickly, thinking on her feet.
'You LIAR!' One of the boys shouted and then slapped her.
'I'm not lying. It's the truth!' Of course this wasn't the truth, but she didn't actually know the real reason, she had just come running down here after cutting herself again.
'I can see it in your eyes, there's no point in hiding it.'
'I don't know why I came down here, I'm just impulsive like that.'
'Oh really?'
'Really.'
Lestiaten came over to her, and brushed her hair off her face, 'look me in the eye and swear it.'
'I swear it.' Larissa replied, looking him straight in the eye.
'Mm. But while we've got you down here...'
'Yes? While you've got me down here?'
'You can stop pretending not to be frightened love, we can all tell.'
'Oh whatever.'
'I think we can frighten the life out of your cousin boyfriend-'
'Why are you two together if you're cousins? That's disgusting.' One of the others cut in.
'Well what did you expect from a filthy blood traitor like her? Especially one from the Black family, you know their reputation.'
'But can you imagine kissing your cousin? That is just the most disgusting, vile thing I've ever thought of.'
'You are disgusting. You know that?'
'I think I've gathered that this is your opinion of me yes.'
'But I'll bet that you're just a slutty bitch if you're with your own cousin.'
'I'm fourteen years old thank you very much!'
'Oh! Well that's put us in our place hasn't it gentlemen.'
'Gentlemen! There's nothing gentle or manly about you!'
'Oh really? Well maybe not to filthy little blood traitor bitches like you at least.'
'I'm done with her.' Lestiaten said after a minute of silence. 'I can't stand little blood traitor, slutty bitches, that snog their cousins and talk back with smart arse answers.'
Two of the boys grabbed her up and threw her out into the Slytherin common room. Larissa stumbled towards the door in her haste to escape. Once she was out she ran and ran as fast as she could to get away.
One part of her wanted to find Draco.
One part of her wanted to find Harry.
One part of her just wanted to get as far away from everyone as possible.
And one part of her wanted to go up to the bathroom, where a shard of glass lay, waiting to spill more of her blood.
