Eomer was never fond of suits. Why they were considered classy completely alluded him. First of all, the shoes were uncomfortably shiny compared to all of his other shoes, the pants were very tight and kept on riding up his ass, and the jacket was too damn hot (but he couldn't take it off due to the fact that Eowyn had demanded that he look presentable). He also thought that ties were more or less like a more fashionable noose, but then again, the tie wasn't as bad as the noose that Grima Wormtongue was currently tying around his neck.

Prospects were not looking good for Eomer. With Lurtz mysteriously being murdered just weeks before Eomer's court sentence, suspicion was largely placed on Eomer, and Eomer knew it. He hadn't done it though; he had read the papers and at the time of the murder, he was sitting in a chair across the room from Faramir and Eowyn and making sex noises as Faramir was on the phone with his father.

It was to his embarrassment when he realized that he was going to have to ask Faramir to be his aliby; saying that yes, Eomer was in his living room and screwing around with his little sister, since Eowyn couldn't do it for him.

Either Faramir was a genuinely nice person or Eowyn threatened to do him in if he refused (Eomer thought that perhaps it was a mixture between the two of them), but the next thing that Eomer knew, he had an aliby for the murder. He wasn't encouraged though; Faramir was his sister's boyfriend and he knew that wouldn't bode well with the court, especially if Grima Wormtongue was there twisting lies.

His only hope was that the jury would listen to him. He had good witnesses, Pippin and Merry, both of whom knew that what Eomer did was for their own good. But, Eomer also knew that justice wasn't blind when it came to money and favours. He had experienced it, at the time of his cousin's death, when they were attempting to get Grima Wormtongue in jail.

With Lurtz dead, the only reason Eomer was in court was to get him out of jail. His lawyer was doing quite splendidly; presenting wonderful points in Eomer's favour. Celeborn was quite talented, though him and his spooky philosophy wife made Eomer's skin crawl. Eomer would also have preferred that Celeborn spoke with life in his voice. Though what he said was convincing, his monotonuous drawl made Eomer want to take a nap.

It was occasionally turning back to look at his sister that made Eomer not want to sleep. She was sitting there, clutching the bench as hard as she could. From the looks of her nails, Eowyn had chewed them all to stubs, and then some.

The only time Eomer felt guilty about what he did was when he realized that this was going to make Eowyn alone. Despite this case, Eomer knew he was going to get sent to jail. If Grima Wormtongue hadn't been handing over stalks of money and twisting knives behind people's backs, Eomer probably might have gotten away with a fine. But with the police and justice force so clouded, and Lurtz's lawyer (a man with a rather large mouth and yellowing teeth) was always spewing out contradicting statements, Eomer knew he was done for.

What he hated the most, however, was that the jury seemed to be completely sympathetic to the murder of Lurtz, despite knowing that the man had been planning on drowning two boys.

Eomer had glanced back to Eowyn again, worry filling his heart as he realized that Grima might make a move on her when he was not longer there. He sighed heavily, and gave Eowyn a forced smile. She returned it with a glare, and then brought her hand up to gnaw on her nails.

Pippin had just been brought in as Eomer's witness. If the situation had not been so serious, Eomer would have burst out laughing at how Pippin looked. The boy's curly hair had been slicked back, and the suit he was wearing was at least fifteen levels higher of formal than Eomer had ever seen the goofy second-year student wear. Pippin's face was stern, determined almost, and it was an expression that Eomer had never seen the boy wear.

"Mr. Took, I do believe you are one of the two boys who had been presumably kidnapped by Mr. Uruk, am I correct?" Celeborn droned, and Eomer almost slumped his head back. Sure, this guy was the best lawyer in town, but he desperately needed to work on adding a little life into his voice. Eomer then supposed that by being married to a psychopath might suck away any life that a man had.

"Yes," Pippin responded, his voice ringing clear in the near silent court room.

"What were the circumstances that lead to you being put in that situation?" Celeborn asked. Eomer knew the whole story already, but he knew that everything that Pippin said was going to determine his fate.

"My cousin and I had left my apartment to go to the corner store just a little ways away from where I lived. We went in, and bought what we needed, and were walking across the parking lot when he were met by Mr. Uruk and his companions. Mr. Uruk pulled out a gun out and held it to my cousin's head. He then demanded that I go into his minivan, where we were tied up. When we were in the minivan, we heard that they were planning on tossing us into the lake to drown. We were only saved when Eomer crashed into the side of the car," Pippin paused for a moment, before he stared straight at Eomer and said, "Without him, I would be dead."

"Mr. Lurtz pulled out a gun you say?" Celeborn asked.

Pippin was about to respond when the unattractive lawyer for Lurtz said, "Objection!"

The judge then heeded the lawyer, and the dark looking man spoke out, "There were no guns found in the wreckage of the car. Are you sure that you did not hallucinate the gun that was, hypothetically, pulled by Mr. Lurtz?"

Pippin looked incredibly insulted before he then said, "I am pretty sure I realize what a gun looks like, especially when it is pressed against my cousin's head."

If Eomer could have, he would have clapped for Pippin, given in a Noble Prize for Sass, and then ask for a signed photo. The only thing Eomer could do, however, was smile at Pippin from where he was sitting.

The lawyer, however, seemed unfazed by Pippin's reply. "You have a nicotine addiction, correct, Mr. Took?"

"May I ask why my nicotine addiction has to do with this?" Pippin looked very insulted, wrinkling his nose at the man.

"It may be possible that you have simply been hallucinating the gun, due to your addiction," Lurtz's lawyer said, with a full smile, revealing rows of teeth that looked as though they had not been brushed for years. Eomer was deeply considering telling the man to go get a set of dentures, but decided that insults would definitely not do him any favours.

"Objection!" Celeborn drawled out. The judge nodded. "Meriadoc Brandybuck, the witness that had been in here previously, has not been on nicotine, and clearly recalled that there was a gun involved. Also, nicotine holds no hallucinogenic properties, and Mr. Took's medical records say nothing of schizophrenia, nor of any of his family members carrying this disorder."

If Eomer could have stood up, yelled "SMACK DOWN", and then back flip out of the court room with his middle fingers sticking to the sky, he would have. However, one glance back to Eowyn made him decide that he should probably should stop having these fantasies.

"I have a question for Mr. Took," Celeborn said, shuffling his paperwork in a robotic fashion, "Do you believe what Mr. Eorl did saved you?"

"Yes," Pippin said without a moment's hesitation. "It was too dark and we were driving too fast for E- Mr. Eorl to have read the licence plate, and thus the police would not have reached us in time. I believe that what Mr. Eorl had done saved my life."

"Thank you. I have no further questions," Celeborn said, sitting down in his chair. Eomer nodded at Pippin, and mouthed 'thank-you.'

Lurtz's lawyer seemed to not have any questions, nor did Grima, who was sitting where the dead kidnapper should have been. With Pippin's confessions out of the way, it was time of the jury to vote.

Eomer felt incredibly sick as he sat there, waiting for the jury to come to a decision. He continuously glanced back at Eowyn, who was now chewing on the back of a pencil instead of her nails. He supposed that she had no nail left to chew. When his sister realized he was looking at her, she gave him a small, uneasy smile.

It seemed to be an eternity, but finally, the judge and the jury came back. Eomer was sure he was going to hurl now, as he waited for the judge to speak.

"We have decided, Eomer Eomund Eorl, that you are cleared of all charges."

Eomer stared at the judge for a second, before he ranked his hands through his hair. He could hear Eowyn's small, quite joyous laughs. He was free to go; Grima Wormtongue apparently had not paid the judge off enough.

I almost forgot to update today! I woke up at four in the morning and then I got occupied with a biography of J.K Rowling. Oops.
