***Three Months Later, Jauregui Residence, Malibu, CA***
Lauren leaned on her balcony wall with her arms resting on the edge, fingers intertwined. The fair skin beauty's hypnotized eyes scanned the blue-green ocean surface, her lips slowly pulling to a half smile. The red-orange color of the sun was reflecting off the water as it was setting just above the horizon, illuminating the sky.
BREATHTAKING, she thought to herself as she let out a chuckle in disbelief, it doesn't matter how long I've lived here or how many times I've seen the sun set, whenever that blood-orange sphere disappeared below the horizon it took my breath away.
***Flashback 7 Year Ago***
The girls were on the verge of finishing their fourth world tour; they had about a month left and they would be done. The stress and the schedule was slowly getting to each of them and to make matters worse, management was REALLY breathing down on Camila and Lauren, watching their every move, not wanting CAMREN to be a thing in public, not as a friendship or relationship, NOTHING. Camila and Lauren had been given a stern speech about their actions, even as "friends," they weren't allowed to interact the way they used to, but they weren't "just friends," they were in love and not being able to BE in love was killing both of them slowly. No hugging, no giggling, no introducing each other on stage, no pictures alone together, nothing that would fuel the "rumors." It was almost as if the two girls needed permission to even breath in the same air and the porcelain skin girl got the worst of the lectures, management noticing the way she would look at the younger brunette, they told her she needed to stop. Lauren didn't take it very well, storming out of the room. She already HATED the fact that they had to hide and for management to have the audacity to tell the green-eyed girl that they didn't "like" the way she looked at Camila, she lost it, rightfully so. The two brunettes had agreed to keep their relationship a secret and continued to deny that they were together whenever asked. They thought it best for their careers; they had to think about three other girls. So they kept their love a secret, doing all they could to take the attention away from "Camren," even if it meant dating guys they were linked to. They both agreed it would be fine, that it would take the heat coming from their management team off of THEM, all these things slowly leading to their demise.
Camila walked into Lauren's room slamming the door shut. The younger brunette was clearly fuming, her nostrils flaring as she crossed her arms, one hand holding a magazine as she tapped her foot on the floor, waiting for her girlfriend to turn her attention from her laptop to her.
The older brunette pulled her headphones off and slowly closed her laptop, popping her head up, her green eyes meeting dark brown eyes, "baby? Everything all right?" she knew it wasn't, she just didn't know why.
The pissed brown-eyed girl threw the magazine on the bed, "what the heck is this?"
Lauren stood up, her eyes drifting to the open page that had a picture of her kissing a random guy on the cheek, her arms thrown around his neck "linking" the two together, "Camila," her green eyes locking with heated brown orbs, "we AGREED to this," she gestured with her hand, "take the heat off remember?" she said with her eyebrows furrowed.
"I DIDN'T agree to that," she pointed at the picture, "you know what, I can't even," she waved her hand, "I can't." her tone angry.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, let me get this straight," the older girl's tone angry as a reaction to the younger brunette, "you can go out on dates and be photographed with your stupid little boy band singers," her tone disgusted because she HATED it, every time Camila went out on a "date" with a boy band member or up and coming artist, just to take the attention away from them, she wanted to throw up, "it's okay, but I take that one picture and you're pissed at me? Are you serious?"
"Does it look like I'm joking Lauren?" her tone aggressive, "you never told me about THAT." She pointed at the picture.
"Camila, it's not even that big of a deal, it's not real!" She shook her head, this is ridiculous, I don't want to fight, she thought to herself, "look I think all the stress and everything around us is just getting to you …and to me too, why don't we just take some time," Lauren's bright green eyes gazed at the life of her life, waiting for a reply.
This is TOO much, I don't know if I can do this right now, the younger girl fought with her thoughts, "yeah," she whispered out, "maybe we do need to take some time."
"Yeah, you know maybe we can take a walk on the beach or star gaze," she let out, her lips pulling to a half smile.
Camila took a breath, "I think we need to take some time apart from each other."
"What?" Lauren shook her head, not comprehending what she just heard, "you know what," she let out a puff of air, walking by the brunette, "you want some time apart," she said in her ear, "you got it," she grabbed her coat, making her way towards the door.
The younger girl's heart began to race, "…Lauren!" but by the time she turned around the older brunette had already slammed the door shut behind her.
It was 3am and Camila sat in Lauren's room, waiting for her heart to return. Normally she'd be worried and would've been out searching for her, but she knew the green-eyed beauty was with Normani. She instantly regretted what she had said the moment it came out of her mouth. She laid on her back, closing her eyes shut as she held onto a pillow tightly, taking in the scent, Lauren's scent as she let her mind take over, WHY DID I SAY THAT? This is dumb; we shouldn't have to hide! I love her so much; I just want to tell her how much I love her and that I'm sorry. I don't want time apart; the truth is I wanted to BE with her, the way we should be, in love, together. I don't want to hide anymore.
~SMACK~
Camila shot up, a sad expression taking over her face as she realized it wasn't Lauren, "Dinah, what are you doing up?"
"Something's happening Mila, get up, get up!"
She stood up, completely confused, "Fuller and Cowell, they're breaking us up."
Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell had been in a bitter lawsuit for months now and the result, all artists they shared were being picked apart, even the groups.
Camila's heart began to quicken as she swallowed, "what are you talking about?"
Ally came rushing into the room, tears in her eyes, "Mani and Lauren, they're gone."
GONE? The younger brunette shook her head, her heart pumping faster, WHAT?
+++4 Hours Earlier+++
Normani and Lauren were approaching the mansion back on foot after a much-needed walk when a black suburban pulled up next to them, the window rolling down, "girls, get in the car." Simon Cowell said, his tone firm.
"Simon," Normani said confused, "I thought you were in London?"
"Yeah," Lauren added.
"Look girls, I don't have time right now, so get in the bloody car."
They both hopped in the car, no protest.
"Simon," Normani broke the silence, both girls completely lost in what was happening, "where are we going?"
"The airport." His words were monotone.
Lauren's eyebrows furrowed…the airport?
"Why?" The green-eyed girl asked, still confused.
"We're flying out to London tonight." He simply stated.
"What?" Normani asked, "why?
He turned around from the passenger seat, "look girls, the lawsuit has been settled with Fuller, that son of a bitch."
SETTLED, Lauren let the word echo, "what does that mean?"
"We split our assets," his tone irritated, "I took YOU TWO and Fuller gets the others."
"WHAT?" Lauren yelled, in complete shock.
"Wait," Normani shook her head, "but Ally, Dinah and Ca-"
"Do I have to bloody spell it out for you two?" he said frustrated, "there is NO MORE Fifth Harmony, you're both solo artist now."
CAMILA, Lauren's heart began to hurt, the blood running through her veins a little faster, her breaths heavy, "Camz, I need to talk to Camz," she patted her pockets and her heart dropped even more realizing she had left her phone in her room when she stormed off, "Simon, we need to go back, we can't just leave them, I need to speak to Camila," her tone desperate.
"Lauren, pull your bloody shit together, I'm about to hand you your dream," his tone firm, "groups don't last forever, I'm going to make both of you even bigger stars than you were before," he turned his attention back to the road, "you can call her when we land."
But that phone call would never happen.
***End of Flashback***
"Hey beautiful," a soft voice broke Lauren from her hypnotic state, "you ready?"
She turned around, her green eyes meeting loving brown ones, the younger brunette leaning against the frame of the balcony sliding doors. Lauren's lips slowly pulled to her eyes, captivated by the love of her life, it doesn't matter how many times I look at HER, her brown eyes, she took in a deep breathe, observing the brown-eyed beauty, she gives me that feeling, makes my heart skip a beat, BEAUTIFUL, she thought to herself letting her breath out, like looking at her for the first time, every time.
She walked towards the caramel skin beauty, wrapping her arms around her petite waist, placing a loving, passionate kiss on her warm lips, pulling back slightly, "I love you," she breathe onto her lips, kissing her again.
Camila cupped her face, brushing her nose against the green-eyed girl's nose, "I'm gonna take that as a yes, you're ready," she wiggled her eyebrows, "and I love you too Lauren," she kissed her girlfriend's lips.
