Chapter 76: Alex

I really can't believe they came back for us that quickly. I thought they would find help before they returned. This day is full of surprises.

"Ok so what next, guys? We have planning time since Bhavana is out," I said, glancing at Bhavana's tall form on the grass.

"I say we just leave her behind and focus on getting away from these creepy scientists," Tim blurted out.

Pretty much everyone stared at him like he was crazy.

"What? She's not even that powerful. Raise your hand if you agree," Tim said, defending himself.

Caiyi started to raise his hand, but quickly reconsidered when Pranu nudged him a little too hard with the sharp end of her trident. He yelped in pain and his hand shot back down.

Everyone was silent.

"Did I miss anythin'?" Bhavana said, as she sleepily rose from the ground. That's when Ruidi walked out from behind a tree and-taking one look at our faces-walked faraway from Pranu and her trident.

I broke the silence. "No we were just talking about what to do next. So far we haven't had any good ideas," I said, shooting a venomous glare at Tim. He shifted uncomfortably

"Oh, kay," Bhavana said. "Well if you ask me, we should grab some coffee and some actual food."

"And find a mall. Jeez we're a mess. And it's been like a whole week since I've gone shopping!" chirped Eshana.

"Scratch the shopping part, and we've got ourselves a temporary plan," I said.

Eshana grumbled something about people having no fashion sense.

"Alcyone's dead," Pranu said sorrowfully..

"No," Bhavana said. "Before... before we left, I saw her body... disappear."

"Maybe she escaped." I said hopefully..

"We didn't really need her anyway." Ruidi grumbled.

Pranu glared at him and he immediately shut up.

"Time for talking later. Right now, we have a duty. Which is to find the monster and get Nick back." Ruidi said, ever practical. We all took off in the direction we thought the monster went, and could only hope there would be food along the way.

Chapter 77: Eshana

Great, no more chance to go to the mall. I was SOOOOO looking forward to see the latest fashion trends at Aero and Hollister. And who can forget about Forever 21? I heard they just released a new clothing line! Ughhhhh.

We have flown over 3 miles! No food in sight! I bet I heard someone's stomach grumbling.

Maybe about a mile later, we came across McDonalds!

"Look! Food!" I shouted

"McDonalds!" Pranu exclaimed.

"Let's go!" Tim shouted.

"Wait, isn't it suspicious that it's the only store there?" Shirley pointed out.

"True," Alex said thoughtfully.

"Guys, this may not be a good idea," Ruidi said

"Yeah, I agree," Bhavana said

" Who cares?! It's food!" I said. God, they were all so paranoid!

"I don't want to have to save you guys again," Ruidi said, "I haven't even regenerated my energy."

The others stuck their tongues out and gave in to their grumbling stomachs and dived down towards the unhealthy fast food restaurant. They tucked in their wings as fast as possible, glancing around to see if anyone had noticed. They tried to look as normal as possible as they pushed open the glass door. Ruidi and Bhavana followed, glancing around.

The day I caught up with the rest of the flock was a day later, after the laboratory incident. I was received with welcoming smiles and joyous laughter. They did not question where I came or how I escaped. And that was fine by me, because it's kind of hard to explain paradoxes. For the first time in two years, I felt like I had a family.

Chapter 78: Ruidi

I tried not to get all paranoid as we walked into McDonald's. After all, it was just a fast food restaurant. I mean, who would attack us at McDonalds?

Little did I know that I couldn't have been more wrong.

As we got in, I expected the restaurant to be empty. But it was jam packed with people, or we thought they were people, until one turned around. One look at its green horrifying eye, I knew it was no good.

"WATCH OUT! THEY ARE HEARTLESSES!" Tim warned.

We all pulled out our weapons, or inner weapons as we thought about killing the monsters. It worked but it drained our energy, I'm not sure how or why, but it just did. Ruidi literally collapsed.
