Song: Many the Miles, Sara Bareilles
Focal Character(s): Natalia, Asch, Guy
"I wonder where Asch could be right now?"
It was a habit Natalia had developed ever since the aftermath of Akzeriuth – when she was left to her own devices while they traveled, be it through the seas on the Tartarus or later the skies on the Albiore, she found herself standing at the railing or the window, staring out at the sea or the sky and wondering just how far away Asch might be. What he might be doing. If he was all right. If he ever thought about her.
"Who knows? Keeps to himself most of the time, doesn't he?"
Natalia turned away from the window. "Guy?"
With a shrug, Guy stretched his hands up behind his head. "Sorry. Didn't mean to interrupt your thoughts there."
Natalia shook her head. "It's fine. I suppose you're right. He does, doesn't he?"
"Don't look so down." Guy lowered his arms, leaning his side against the wall so he could still look at Natalia. "Asch is a capable person. I'm sure he's fine, wherever he is. He's probably got some plan he's working on, and sooner or later we'll bump into him and he'll either yell at us for getting in his way or ask us some random question about something and not bother to explain himself."
"Hehe, yes, I imagine so," Natalia answered. She couldn't help but laugh – Guy's description fit Asch quite well.
"So don't worry, okay? I'm sure we'll see him again soon, and he wouldn't like to see you so looking so sad when we do."
She had to smile a little. "You're right. Thank you, Guy."
"Any time." Guy wandered off, probably to observe the Albiore's controls over Noelle's shoulder again. He really was right – she didn't have time to waste worrying about Asch. Asch could handle himself. Until they met again, she would continue her work to change their country. However many days, weeks, months, or miles it took.
A/N: I know they use kilometers, not miles, but the word didn't fit as well with the rhythm of the sentence.
