Song: Don't Dream It's Over, Susan Boyle
Focal Character(s): Jade
It would have been so easy for them to be torn apart. People were fragile. It was something Jade hadn't really grasped for the longest time. Rather like life and death. He knew about these things, logically, but he didn't really understand them. Or try to, if he was being honest with himself.
People were fragile. Their party showed that perhaps more than anyone else. Their pasts were strings of mistakes. His was, at least, and each of theirs were riddled with at least a few holes as well. Were he the same man he once was, he would wonder why their present should be any different than their pasts.
And yet, they held together. They didn't break. They stood together. Despite the walls their enemies, the world, and sometimes even they themselves threw up between them, they didn't fall apart.
It was odd, the way he knew those walls wouldn't destroy them. A year or two ago he never would have imagined having those feelings, let alone listening to them.
But somehow, he knew that for all their frailty, they were strong, and it was a strength he could trust.
