Briggs had split and the only thing he left behind was a whole in the wall and a big mess. Agents were sweeping the house. Finally they were done.
"With Paul Briggs in the wind it looks like Graceland's going to have to be shut down. All your cases will be put on hold until the decision is made on where you are to be reassigned." One of the agents told the team.
Lexi's eyes swelled with tears. So many secrets had come out...
"And the Bureau will be taking Alexia Petrova Graceland into custody." The agent finished.
Lexi's head shot up, "what?"
"For what?" Charlie said in an irradiated voice, getting up from her seat.
"Lexi's done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to arrest her on!" Paige spat.
"We're not arresting her, we are simple taking her into custody and she will remain at the Bureau until her fate can be decided." The agent said.
"My fate? What are you talking about? I'm emancipated, you have no control over me!" Lexi said, getting emotional.
"The government placed you here when you were 15, and you have remained here ever since. You have been apart of and assisted on special undercover missions and investigations. One of those over seeing your well-being is on the ran and even though you had nothing to do with this you are still a concern to the government as well as agencies that signed off on your being here." The agent stated.
"I'm going to reveal any secrets or anything, I swear!" Lexi pleaded.
"Yeah, can't we talk about this?" Charlie said, getting in the agent's face.
"Yeah, what about agents Kincaid and Banks? Can't she stay with them until this is all sorted out?" Mike asked.
"No, I'm sorry. Please don't make this any harder than it has to be... I'm sorry but I must take the girl in to custody now." The agent said and stepped toward Lexi.
"No!" Lexi screamed and pushed him down as she bolted down the stairs. As she went flying through the living room she was tackled by an agent who slammed her into the ground. Lexi cried out in sorrow and in pain. The Graceland team came down the stairs.
"I can't watch this.." Jakes said and turned around and headed upstairs.
Paige was crying and begging someone to do something. Charlie was screaming at the agents not to hurt her. Johnny and Mike just starred on hopelessly.
"No! You can take me away! My family! No! Please!" Lexi cried out.
The agents handcuffed her hands behind her back and it took 3 agents to get her out of the house and into the car. Paige can up to the car and place her hands on the window.
"Paige.." Lexi sobbed.
"None of you will have any further contact with Alexia from this moment on unless otherwise notified." The agents said as he shoved Paige away from the window.
Lexi watched from the back window of the car as the only family she'd ever know faded off into the distance.
Lexi was placed in a secure room at the FBI headquarters. She had a bed, a desk, a few bookshelves, a chair, and not much else... it was like a mini safe house. At first Lexi cried... then she got mad and cursed in Russian... then she paced around the room. She began looking through the books on the bookshelves. They weren't very interesting... books of old pictures of government agents and stuff. Then Lexi came to a Federally photo book. Hey I wonder if the guy Charlie's been working with is in here... Charlie... Lexi thought to herself. She flipped to the page with the "R" names and she saw him. That's when it hit her... those eyes... she flashed back...Jangles.
Lexi leaped up and began banging on the door of her room and calling for someone to let her out. But no one came. Lexi raced back and forth in the room, her mind going a 100 miles an hour. There was a window in her room and Lexi ran up to it but of course, there was no way to open it... unless... Lexi knew it would hurt but she had to get to Charlie or someone. Lexi got a running start and crashed through the window. The glass sliced her skin. Lexi hit the ground outside, picked herself up, and ran.. the alarm sounding behind her.
Lexi ran as fast as he could to the road and hitched a ride with the first car she could find heading to the beach. As soon as the car reached the beach, Lexi jumped out and ran the last stretch to Graceland where she saw Mike getting in his car.
"Mike!" She screamed.
"Lexi?" Mike said getting out of the car.
Just then a squad car pulled up and two agents stopped Lexi in her tracks.
"Mike! The federally is Jangles! The federally is Jangles!" Lexi screamed as the agents restrained her. "Charlie's with him! Find her!"
Now Lexi was being held in an interrogation room. At least the FBI was kind enough to give her some medical attention for her wounds. It wasn't until the next morning that Lexi heard anything.
Lexi awoke to a knock at the door and she sleepily lifted her head from the table she had been forced to sleep at last night.
"Good morning Miss. Graceland." The agent said as he told her what had happened with Graceland and her team.
"So.. you mean.. I can go home?" Lexi said full of hope.
"Yes, you can. And there are two people waiting outside to take you there"
Lexi was escorted outside to the parking lot.
"Hey there's my best girl."
Lexi knew that voice..
"Lauren! Donnie!" Lexi exclaimed.
She surged forward and embraced them. "Oh my gosh I missed you guys so much!"
"And we missed you" Lauren said, practically in tears of joy.
"Yeah, we flew all night to get here. It's good to see you girl." Donnie said.
Lexi didn't loosen her grip on either of them till Donnie said, "Let's go home."
"Paige! Charlie! Mike! Johnny! Jakes! Briggs!" Lexi shouted as she came running though the door.
"Oh my gosh, look at you" Charlie said hugging her first.
"Look at you" Lexi said jokingly gesturing to Charlie's own cuts and buries.
"God I love you girl" Charlie said holding Lexi to her. "You jumped through hoops for me."
"Technically it was a window" Lexi said and Charlie laughed.
The next to hug her was Paige. "Welcome home" Paige said as she cupped Lexi's face in her hands.
Lexi smiled at her and Paige hugged her again. "I love you baby girl."
"I love you Paige" Lexi whispered.
Then came Johnny, "Tie-Die! Give me some love!" Johnny said as he picked Lexi off her feet and hugged her tight.
"Johnny.. I can't.. breathe.." Lexi gasped.
"Oh sorry." Johnny said putting her down, "Good to have you back."
Lexi walked up to Mike. Mike smiled at her and stuck out his hand. Lexi smiled back and hugged him and Mike hugged her back. Even Jakes came to hug her. Finally came Briggs.
"Hey glad you're back... we good?" Briggs said sticking out his hand.
Lexi looked at his out stretched hand and then back at him. "No."
"Look Lex, I had no idea they were going to take you away." Briggs said.
"And if you had known would it have made a difference?" Lexi asked.
Briggs was silent.
"It doesn't matter.. I forgive you." Lexi said.
"You do?" Briggs said in awe.
"I do. But I don't trust you... and I don't know if I ever will again." Lexi said.
Lexi sat with her family, her whole family, around the fire on the beach. She was nestled in the sand between Lauren and Donnie who sadly, were leaving tomorrow afternoon with Mike to head back to Miami and DC.
Everyone laughed and smiled. It was great spending the day with Lauren and Donnie. She and Lauren had gone shopping, after which they met Donnie on the pier for lunch where they spent hours talking. Lexi told them everything; about Charlie, Mike, Jakes, her still remaining suspicions and distrust of Briggs. She told them she told Paige, and Lauren and Donnie had hugged her for they knew how hard it was to let someone else in on that part of her life. They had walked on the beach, gone surfing, and now were siting together around a fire, drinking beer and in Lexi's case; soda, in complete bliss.
"Hey" Lauren whispered into Lexi's ear, "You aren't a stray."
"I know" Lexi said with a smile.
Donnie put his arm around Lexi, "I'm so proud of you Lex."
"You are" Lexi said, beaming.
"We both are." Lauren said, putting her arm around Lexi too.
"Can we lay out under the stars tonight? Like we use to." Lexi asked Donnie.
Donnie smiled and nodded. Lexi smiled back, then turned and also offered Lauren a smile as well, before taking her hand and giving it a squeeze.
In this moment.. Lexi couldn't be happier.
"To home" Briggs said raising his glass.
"To Mike and his dream of returning to the east coast.. we are going to miss you." Paige said.
"Yeah cheers to Mike" Lexi said smiling. "You'll always be family to me."
Mike smiled back nodding to girl in gracefulness and thanks.
"And to Lexi" Mike said raising his glass, "The heart of this family.. and for bringing us all home."
Lexi smiled.
"Cheers!" Everyone said. :)
