Mike pulled up in front of the Graceland house for the first time in a long time. A flood of memorizes coming back to him.
"Mike!" Lexi cried out in excitement as she busted from the front door of the house and went sprinting across the yard to greet him.
Her embrace almost knocked him down. It was good to see her again.
"I saw you drive up from the roof! I'm so happy to see you! Welcome home." Lexi said.
"You don't know how good it is to see you too Lexi. Gosh I've missed you so much." Mike said. "Where'd you get that locket? Its pretty."
"Thanks! Lauren and Donnie sent it to me.. see its got our picture in it."
Mike smiled. "Where are the others?"
"Inside, come on." Lexi said.
Lexi watched as Mike greeted the others. She smiled. Maybe now everything would go back to the way it was. Mike headed upstairs to take to talk to Briggs.
"Hey Mike, feel like catching some waves tomorrow?" Lexi called up after him.
Mike stopped at the top of the stairs and smiled down at her. "You bet."
Lexi smiled back. "Cool."
"Hey Godfather we're gonna play another game, you in?" Bates said.
"I told you not to call me that Bates." Lexi said.
"Oh, sorry Lex-a-million." Bates said.
Lexi shook her head.
"Don't like that one either? Don't worry I got a bunch more. Lex-luther, Lex-a-sketch, Lexi-stick, Lex-a-licious, Lexi Lou?" Bates rambled.
"Hey Bates, shut up." Paige said to him before giving a gentle nod to Lexi. Lexi nodded back in thanks.
Lexi headed up stairs to play a little guitar. She passed Briggs's room where he and Mike were still talking.
"Hey Lexi, hold up a second." Briggs said coming into the hallway.
Lexi stopped and looked back over her shoulder to acknowledge him.
"I was gonna do a bit of surveillance around the area where Mike and I are gonna be tomorrow. You mind checking it out?" Briggs said.
"You gonna be the only one watching my back?" Lexi asked.
"Yeah." Briggs replied.
"Then no.. I'm sorry." Lexi said.
Briggs nodded and went back into his room. Lexi felt bad in having said no but you gotta trust the person watching your back... and Lexi didn't trust Briggs.
Lexi sat at the kitchen table the next morning finishing her last bit of breakfast as the day was just getting started.
"Johnny where are all the travel mugs?" Paige said.
"Why would you assume its me? I'm sensitive like that." Johnny replied.
"So if I went up to your room right now, I wouldn't find all our to-go mugs?" Paige said giving him a look.
"Not if I get there before you." Johnny said.
"Not if I send Lexi you won't." Paige said, winking at the young girl.
"Tie-Die ain't no match for me." Johnny said.
"Oh yeah, you feeling lucky punk?" Lexi said jokingly, putting up her fists.
Johnny playfully spared with the girl until Mike and Charlie came down for breakfast.
"Hey Charlie" Lexi said, putting her plate in the sink. "You still up for a movie night tonight?"
"Nah I'm sorry my little Russian flower. I got stuff going on." Charlie said.
"What kind of stuff?" Lexi said cocking her head.
"Just stuff." Charlie said. "Don't worry, we'll talk later."
"Uh huh" Lexi said a little crestfallen.
"You ready to go Lexi?" Paige said as she got the car keys from Charlie.
Lexi nodded and skipped up to Paige's side.
"You're not coming to the meet and greet?" Mike said as Lexi and Paige started to walk to the door.
"No sorry.. Paige and I are wrapping up a case we've been work'n for months." Lexi said.
"Hey Mike.. good luck today." Paige said warmly.
"Yeah." Lexi said. "Oh and Mike."
"Yeah?"
"Don't get shot." Lexi said with a smile before she and Paige left, with everyone wishing him the same.
Lexi and Mike rode the waves, filling the sky and ocean with laughter. When they had finished they stuck their boards in the sand and flopped down on their backs.
"You're out of practice." Lexi giggled, her eyes closed.
"Yeah" Mike said, sitting up and looking at the ocean. "A lots changed around here."
Lexi said up and hugged her knees as she too stared out at the vast ocean. "Yeah it has... its different here. Things are good but, different."
Mike looked at the girl.
"After you left... things were good, really good, then.. I don't know.. everything just changed." Lexi said with a shrug as she dug her toes into the sand. "Johnny's been drinking a lot, Charlie's been distant... and she never has time for me anymore..and she started smoking..don't say anything though ok? I'm not sure anybody else knows... oh and her and Briggs are together did you know that?"
"Just found out." Mike said.
"Yeah.. and Briggs is different too." Lexi said.
"I agree. You still don't trust him?" Mike asked.
"No." Lexi said. "Jakes is up to something... I don't know what, but I feel like its something bad. Paige is the only one I'm really super close to in the house lately... She's the only one I don't feel that's different. Don't get me wrong, things have been really good lately too but... I don't know... It's just different and I don't like it."
"What do you think of the new guy?" Mike asked.
"OMG.. don't even get me started with him..It's like living with a frat boy! He's such a little punk. He treats me like a child and I'm so sick of his stupid nick names." Lexi said.
Mike laughed.
"It's not funny." Lexi said laughing back and giving him a playful jab.
They both laughed a little more before Mike put his arm around her.
"So tell me about DC." Lexi said with a smile.
"Hey, can I join you?" Lexi asked as she walked up to the campfire on the beach. It was dark and a cool wind blew off from the ocean, making the flames dance.
Paige nodded and took little Lexi into her arms as she sat down beside her. With Paige's arms wrapped around her Lexi leaned her head against Paige's shoulder. Paige laid her head atop of Lexi's as they both enjoyed the fire.
"So what's the deal with you and Mike?" Lexi said.
Paige gently flicked the young girl on the shoulder. "Don't you start."
"You gotta admit there's something there." Lexi said smiling up at her.
"Yes.. but I'm still not his answer." Paige said.
"I know." Lexi said as she leaned back against Paige. After a few moments Lexi began humming "Let Me Call You Sweetheart."
"Okay, that's it" Paige said as she began tickling Lexi.
They both laughed and once again the sky was filled with laughter.
As Lexi was getting ready for bed her cell phone rang. Lexi quickly picked it up and answered. "Hello?"
"How's my best girl doing?"
"Donnie" Lexi said, smiling into the phone.
"Hey darling.. Lauren and I just wanted to call and say goodnight." Donnie said.
"Goodnight Donnie." Lexi said laying on her bed.
"Night." Came Donnie's voice. He handed the phone to Lauren.
"Goodnight Lexi." Lauren said in Russian.
"Goodnight, love you guys." Lexi said, also in Russian.
"We love you too."
The next day was very eventful and Lexi was glad when it was over and everyone was safe. The following morning Mike had called everyone into the living room for an announcement. He was taking over the team.
"..But for the next 8 weeks, you guys will be working for me." Mike said.
The room was silent as everyone traded looks. And as much as Lexi liked Mike.. she wasn't sure she liked this.
