(Astral's POV)
So today the human holiday called valentine is occurring. Well, that's what the boards and just the entire city just said. Everywhere there were posters with hearts or couples on it, it made me wonder why it was so special. As Yuma ran to school, late once again, I studied the posters, looking for an explanation for this.
"Yuma, what is this 'valentine' on the posters?" I asked, not finding an answer.
"Oh, it's just a holiday," he answered. I sighed, shaking my head.
"And what does it mean?" I then asked.
"It's a day where people celebrate love, really mushy and all." Yuma said, and then he looked at me with a sheep grin which gave me a bad feeling. "Which reminds me... Who's the girl you like Astral?"
Maybe I shouldn't have asked what it was. Anyway, I kept silent, not wishing to tell. What if she heard us?
"So you're giving me the silent treatment he? I knew it!" the boy shouted, jumping as he ran.
"Knew what?" I said without realizing.
"Ha, gotcha to talk again!" Yuma said, feeling proud.
"Yuma, you tricked me," I answered in a disappointed voice.
"But it worked," he then said. I sighed again. "Anyway, if you won't tell me who you like, let me at least give you some advice."
"Tori told me not to trust you on love advice..."
"Tori also says I shouldn't eat so much."
"In which she is right..."
"Ah shut up Astral. You know what, I'm not going to give you any advice," Yuma said with his arms crossed and a pout on his face.
"I didn't ask for any advice..."
Yuma ran even harder, as if to say the conversation was finished. Taking it that way, I disappeared back into the key.
Thunder was raging in the clouds and I felt something falling on me. Rain? Why was it storming? Then the storm stopped. Just, in a split second everything returned to normal. It confused me even more.
"Thank Ra I thought that was going to on forever" a voice in the distance said.
"Who's there?" I asked, approaching the structure, where the voice came from. Then I saw Yubel, dripping from the storm, coming out of the structure. I suppressed a snicker.
"Very funny, how about I let you wait 15 minutes in the rain? Couldn't you at least warn me for these storms?" she said sarcastic.
"I didn't even know these storms could happen. It has never occurred when I was here…" I mumbled.
"Anyway, do you have a blanket or something, I'm freezing."
I looked at her and she was indeed shivering. I shook my head, not even knowing what a blanket exactly was.
"It's a good thing spirits can get sick otherwise I'd be sneezing or coughing all over," she said with a little laugh that was interrupted by a sneeze.
"Oh you've got to be kidding me…" she muttered.
"Yubel, is something wrong?" I asked, a little worried.
She sighed. "I think I'm sick…"
There was a short silence. "Can I help?" I decided to ask.
"N-No, it's fine," she stuttered, still shivering. I didn't believe her though.
She sneezed again, but, instead of the liquid I saw coming from Yuma's nose when he was sick, it was something powdery, like dust.
She was cold… I looked down at my hands, and then I embraced her, her body was radiating heat against my skin, but I ignored it. This caused Yubel to look up at me. Her expression was a mix between confusion and shock.
"You're cold," I said and her confusion slightly faded. She closed her eyes, seemingly enjoying the little body heat I have. I took a more seated position for my own comfort, and she moved as well, now sitting on my lap, curled up against my chest with my arms loosely draped over her shoulders.
Today our conversation continued like that. It had almost become a routine to come keep me company in the key, showing up on various moments. I always enjoyed her visits no matter when she came, though. Most of the time we talked, or she did while I listened. I came to understand the human world a lot faster than just with Yuma, as Yubel had so much more experience in it. She talked a lot about this boy named Jaden. She was very fond of him. However I did notice there were time gapes in her stories, from when he was a child and then talking about his time as a teenager to the time he was an adult. More than that she never talked about the time before she met him. She also not really talked about what happened after because she considered it rather uneventful other than some small occurrings.
Suddenly, after a short silence, she giggled. I raised an eyebrow at her, which she noticed. "It's been forever since I've been sick, really. I remember that, a long time ago, I was told to stay in bed and rest, but I never listened, always going outside in the sun," she said amused.
I tilted my head in confusion. This isn't the way she talked, she explained.
"What do you mean, Yubel? I thought you said duel spirits couldn't get sick…" I questioned her.
"I haven't been a duel monster all my life you know." her answer sounded. My eyes widened in surprise and I leaned backward a little to look in her eyes.
"I was once human," she stated and then absently closed her eyes, leaving me chocked. I was frozen in place. But… I had never heard of something like that before. I remained in the same position for minutes, maybe even hours, trying to comprehend. Meanwhile Yubel had fallen asleep.
"Astral? Astral, are you alright?" her voice sounded in the distance. I focused, and got my body and brain to function normally again.
(Yubel's POV)
I did not remember quite well what had happened before I woke up. I remember the rain, and then becoming sick, and the last thing was Astral hugging my and then curling… up… on… his…lap… I looked around and I was still in a similar position, only now lying on top of him. I could feel my face heat up, and then noticed how I felt a lot better. I wasn't sick anymore? I looked at Astral, who was staring in the distance.
"Astral? Astral, are you alright?" I asked, waving my hand in front of his sight.
Silence.
"Hmm? Yubel?" he asked-answered me.
"Yeah, it's me. I'm feeling better too," I said with a light smiled. He blinked and then gave a small smile back, dropping his arms from my shoulders.
I took it as a sign I could get up, so I did. "Thanks… for taking care of me," I said, rubbing my right upper arm with my left hand.
He smiled. "You're welcome."
"I guess it's time I go then, see you later Astral," I said, turning around.
"Goodbye and happy valentine's day."
I turned around to look at him. His voice and expression seemed normal, which made me doubt if he even knew what valentine was. A mischievous grin crept onto my face as I suddenly leaned in closer, quickly kissing his cheek.
"Happy valentine's day," I said before disappearing, leaving the astral being with a face almost as blue as Yuma's hair.(*)
AN: So very late happy valentine's day! I wanted to finish this earlier, but my mom insisted I'd get of my computer and rest. The reason for that was because I was sick as well.
(*)Astral blushes blue because he is blue. He has no blood to center his face and turn red, so I figured he'd blush blue. (as I want things logical.)
I'm also re-uploading certain chapters again, fixing the AN as they aren't bold anymore etc.
So stay tuned and see ya!
