Disclaimer: Nope. Still not mine. Stop asking. Or give me Lestrade so that I can have him at least. I'd be happy with that. Seriously.

A/N: And now back to our regularly scheduled program…at least until Luna hijacks it again. I'll let her because she's a bit…um…odd and she might hurt me. Or confuse me. And that's not hard to do so we'd best avoid that eventuality.

The Day Luna Kidnapped Harry

Chapter Summary: Luna knows that Harry is overwhelmed by the events of the war and that no one is letting him rest and recover. She decides that it is time to take action and save her Harry from the well-meaning but overbearing crowds of admirers. So she shows up and whisks him away to her family's secret place.

Luna tilted her head to the side as she watched the sun come up over Malfoy Manor. She and her father were staying with her cousins until they could decide what to do with the Rookery. She knew her father said that but actually they were staying with Lucius, Narcissa and Draco because her father was slowly dying. He was trying to protect his only child from that knowledge. He was purposely ignoring that she was a seer and already knew he would soon leave her. And she was letting him. It was just easier that way and it made him happy.

She shook her head and forced the frown from her face. She didn't like to frown. It brought out the skilippies. They made people avoid even looking at you lest you draw them into your unhappiness. She stared at the horizon again and tried to capture the thought that had been interrupted by her musings over her father.

Oh! Her face immediately blossomed into a grin. It was time then! Excellent! He was finally ready. The probabilities had aligned and she would finally gain her heart's dearest wish. She turned from the family gardens and raced to her father's room.

"Daddy," she burst out breathlessly as she crossed the threshold and ran up to his bedside. "Daddy, you have to wake up," she demanded.

Watery silver eyes opened slowly. "What is it, rutabaga?" His voice was whisper soft and strained. "Have the pimplies come into season again? Strange. They usually only do that in the spring and early summer."

Luna shook her head her own silvery eyes sparkling. "No Daddy. The probabilities have aligned and I have to go away for a few days. I'm taking my heart to the special place so that it will heal, okay?"

Xeno smiled indulgently. "Okay, rutabaga, have fun. And be careful. Don't forget that only family can enter the special place. You'll need to hold your heart close."

Luna patted his hand. "Don't worry, Daddy, I haven't forgotten. I'll see you in a few days. Listen to Cousin Cissy and be good." She leaned down and placed a soft kiss on his paper thin cheek. "I love you, Daddy."

He patted her head with one hand and smiled at her in a dreamy way. "I will and I love you too my moon child." His eyes slipped closed and Luna made her way quietly from the room.

Luna scrawled off a quick note telling her cousins not to worry about her and that she'd be back in a few days before apparating to London. She knew where Harry was without even having to think about it. Fidelus charms did little to hide the ties of a heart and soul.

She wrinkled her nose at the smell of the street but banished it from her mind after a moment. It didn't matter. They wouldn't be here for long. Cocking an eyebrow at the knocker she shrugged and pressed at the doorbell.

She heard a woman screaming obscenities inside and wondered who would be screaming like that. The door creaked open and Luna smiled at the oldest, oddest house elf she'd ever seen. She knelt down so that she was on his level and thrust out her hand. "Hello, Mr. Elf. I'm Luna and I need to see Harry Potter please?"

The elf nodded but didn't move to allow her into the dingy house. "Kreacher knows who the Lovegood Miss is," he told her. "Master Harry…" he visibly fought with himself for a moment before shaking his head. "Master Harry is not at home for visitors, Miss," he said regally even as his eyes widened and blinked at her in a message that said differently.

Luna shrugged. "Did Master Harry say not to let me in specifically, Mr. Kreacher?" She asked shrewdly.

Kreacher beamed for a moment and then his face fell. "Master Harry left instructions to not let anyone in, Miss."

Luna leaned forward conspiratorially. "But I am not anyone," she said in a whisper. "I'm Luna."

Kreacher's wizened face lit with a manic grin. "The Lovegood Miss is Slytherin sneaky," he said in a tone of awe and stepped back to allow her entrance. "Master Harry should clarify his needs better to avoid sneaky misses."

Luna smirked and nodded. "Unfortunately for him Potters can never outwit Lovegoods. We need some edge over them, you see."

Kreacher nodded, his ears flopping and smiled happily. "Kreacher knows, Lovegood Miss. Kreacher remembers many Potter/Lovegood contests of wits. Potters never win no matter how much they try."

Luna rose to her feet and stepped into the old house with a wrinkled nose. "Well, we won't tell him that," she commented and stared at the billowing curtains beside the still screaming witch in a portrait on the wall. "It's more fun if they continue to try. Besides, Harrymine is unique you know. He might actually manage it once he gets rid of his wrackspurts." She walked over to stand in front of the portrait.

"Is Mistress," Kreacher told her solemnly. "Mistress doesn't like to be disturbed. She doesn't care for Master Harry either."

Luna frowned at the portrait for a moment and then forcibly smoothed out her face. "Good morning, Lady Black," she greeted with a sunny smile. "I can completely understand your ire at being disturbed but there is no need for such language from a lady of your standing." Luna drew out her wand and nodded to herself. "A gift from my home to yours," she waved the wand and a steaming cup appeared near Walburga Black's elbow. "I know how difficult it is to get good tea as a portrait. My mother taught me that spell to satisfy my grandmother. I do hope it is to your taste."

The portrait blinked at Luna and then at the steaming tea and cracked a small smile. "You're the Lovegood girl, are you not?" She asked in a more normal tone and picked up the cup.

"Yes ma'am," Luna nodded and gave the portrait a small curtsy.

Walburga smiled wider. "Whatever are you doing here, child? This place is far too dark and dreary for you. You belong in the sunshine."

Luna shrugged. "I must follow my heart, My Lady. And at the moment my heart is here. I'll soon take him away for a while though. While we are gone may the house elves tidy up and remodel a bit so that I can visit more often?"

Walburga huffed and glared at her. "I don't mind at all but you'll have to ask that wastrel boy that masquerade's as my heir. He's got the final say, more's the pity."

"Lady Black should not call Master Harry names," a female elf voice scolded. "And Kreacher should not have let Loveygood girl in. Master Harry said not to let anyone in."

Luna turned around to find a diminutive, even by elf standards, female elf shaking her long finger in Kreacher's face with a scowl. "But she is not anyone," Kreacher refuted. "She is Lovegood Miss." He nodded at the end of his sentence to emphasize his point. "Master Harry will be happy to see her. She is his heart."

The little elf turned to regard Luna and suddenly smiled brightly. "I is Winky Miss Loveygood. I is happy to see you. You must save Master Harry from the Weasels and the Grangy girl. They is making him crazy."

Luna knelt down as she had with Kreacher and thrust her hand out to shake Winky's. "I must tell you both that I have come to kidnap your master. I'm taking him to the Lovegood Special Place. He will not return until he is healed."

Winky and Kreacher bobbed their heads up and down enthusiastically. "Yes, Miss Loveygood. You must take him away," Winky agreed with a beaming smile. "Kreacher and Winky can fix house then. Can't fix with Master Harry here. He says we can do what we wish with it and then doesn't leave so's we's can surprise him."

Luna stood up and faced the portrait again. "It was lovely to meet you, Cousin Walburga," she curtsied to the portrait and then turned back to the elves. "Where is Harrymine? I'll need to find him before I can kidnap him."

"Master Harry is in the family parlour, Lovegood Miss," Kreacher responded. He started down a dark hallway and motioned for her to follow him. "Kreacher will take the Lovegood Miss to his Master Harry."

Luna skipped after him. "Thank you so much, Kreacher. I would get lost in here without you and then the cuplatites would get me. They like to steal blond girls and make them into star dust."

He was tired. So very tired. Tired to his very bones. Sick and tired of all the crowds whenever he went out. Tired of the pushing from his friends. Tired of everything pressing in on him. Just plain tired of life really.

He'd thought that killing off Voldie would mean peace. Harry's entire life had been spent in the pursuit of that one goal. Once he'd achieved it and survived which was a shock in itself he'd thought that he'd get a bit of peace and quiet finally. No more madman after his blood. No more Headmaster pushing him to fulfil his destiny. No more running around. Peace was supposed to follow war or so he'd always thought. He'd been wrong. There was no peace to be found.

The Weasley's wanted him to come back and stay with them again. He didn't want to. He'd had quite enough of the Burrow, thank you. He was eighteen years old for Merlin's sake. If he wanted to sleep until noon then he should be allowed to. But Mrs. Weasley had very definite views on how wizards and witches should act. She always woke them all as the sun peeked over the horizon. He'd come to dread her voice nearly as much as he did his Aunt Petunia's.

Then there were Ginny, Ron and Hermione. They followed him everywhere. Nagging at him to make a decision about Grimmauld Place. Nagging him about when he and Ginny were going to get married. Nagging him about how much he slept and ate and where he went when he slipped their leash. Telling them he'd gone to visit Teddy and Gran Andi always seemed to get him skeptical looks. They never believed him. Especially since the day at the bank with Luna and Draco. Now they were sure that he was meeting with Draco for nefarious reasons. Sure he met with Draco for lunch about once a week but all they did was talk and eat. They didn't even talk about the war. They chatted about goblin customs or quiddich or some new book that Draco thought he'd enjoy or Harry would explain Muggle stuff to the newly interested Slytherin.

There was no way he was going to move back into the Burrow. Gran Andi had offered to let him stay with her and Teddy but he didn't want to do that either. The Weasleys and the reporters could find him too easily there. Gran Andi's house was warded to the best of his ability and that of the goblins he'd hired but she'd refused a fidelus. Teddy was way too young to have to deal with the reporters that seemed to be permanently attached to his godfather. So Grimmauld Place was his only refuge.

He wanted a few days to just breathe. He felt like he hadn't stopped for breath since he'd been eleven. Probably before that even. The Dursleys weren't exactly conducive to a peaceful life. He snorted at the thought of peace and Dudley in the same sentence.

His disappearance to Grimmauld Place hadn't seemed to stop the Weasleys or Kingsley though, no matter how much he wished it had. They had the secret too. He had warded the house to repel everyone so instead his floo was constantly going off with someone wanting to talk to him. Unfortunately his wards did nothing if someone was truly determined to talk to him too. Ginny showed up at least once a day demanding that he take her to this party or that gala. He'd finally told Kreacher and Winky to tell anyone that called that he was sleeping or showering or out somewhere.

But he could still hear the chime on the floo when someone called and the doorbell rang through the entire house. So even with Winky and Kreacher playing guard dogs he still heard the constant noise. He gave a brief thought to getting the floo turned off and redoing the fidelus but that would cause questions he didn't feel like answering. Merlin! Why couldn't they all just leave him alone? Just for a few days. That's all he wanted, just a few days of peace. Was that really so much for their Savior to ask of them?

"Hello Harry Potter," a soft voice interrupted his internal rant.

Harry swung to face the voice and frowned. "Luna," he greeted as politely as he could manage. "What did you need?" He wasn't going to ask how she'd gotten past Winky. Luna was unstoppable when she wanted something. Apparently she wanted to see him. He tried to convince himself that he didn't want her here. But he was lying to himself and he knew it. Luna was one of the most peaceful people he knew. Her invading his space didn't clang against his senses like everyone else did.

Luna floated into the study and knelt gracefully beside the chair he was sitting in. She patted his knee and smiled softly. "I don't need anything," she told him. "You do." She tilted her head at him and her large silvery eyes blinked slowly.

Harry couldn't stop the answering smile. He liked Luna. Always had. She was odd but that only made her more intriguing and he thought she saw far more and understood much more than anyone gave her credit for. "And what do I need, Luna?" He asked, knowing that anything she said was going to surprise him but that it would turn out to be exactly the thing he needed.

"A break," she said simply. "Everyone is pushing at you and you need time to assimilate that you are now free." It was the most concise and serious and pointed he'd ever heard her speak. It was also spot on. It was always amazing when she nearly read his thoughts. He'd give anything for a vacation. "So I've come to kidnap you."

Harry's smile grew. He hadn't been expecting that. It was a delightful idea. "Really? I don't think Kreacher and Winky will like that much, Luna. They're rather protective." He felt the need to point it out to her even though he was sure she knew already.

Luna waved a hand airily, her slivery eyes glinting in amusement. "I've already discussed it with them. They said I can have you for a few days. They want to do a bit of remodeling anyway." She rose to her feet with the same gracefulness that she'd knelt and held out a hand for him to take. "So the only question is…will you come or must we force you?"

Harry stared up into her clear silver eyes, grinned and took her hand. "Where we going?" He paused and frowned. "The Rookery's a bit too close to the Burrow for my comfort. The Weasleys might think to look for us there, if they find out I'm with you."

Luna smiled and twined their fingers together firmly. "It's a surprise but no, not the Rookery. We're going somewhere that only my family knows. It's warded against everything. So don't let go of my hand or you'll end up in the cave of the Vile Vicious Vermillion Viper."

Harry tightened his hand on hers. He'd never heard of the Vile Vicious Vermillion Viper but it didn't sound like a creature he'd like to cross. "I won't let go," he promised.

Luna grinned happily. She heard the ring of future promise in his voice even if he didn't. Everything was going to be just fine.
