~Oh no, this couldn't be more unexpected

And I can tell that I've been moving in so slow

Don't let it throw you off too far

Cause I'll be running right behind you

Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)

To say you're the only one breaking me down like this

You're the only one I would take a shot on

Keep me hanging on so contagiously~

***Newport High School, Newport Beach, CA 7:30AM***

Camila's P.O.V.

I impatiently sat in my counselor's office, why did she call me in here SOOOO early and for what? Argghhh! I could've slept in an extra half hour, plus I have better things to do, like eat breakfast! I can feel my tummy rumble; oh breakfast how I miss you. This is NOT the way to start my morning-NO FOOD-COUNSERLOR'S OFFICE IN THE AM-NOT COOL! I mean come on! I'm the head cheerleader; this whole having to be at school early is cramping my style…BIG TIME!

"Camila," I watched Mrs. Whitney sit across the desk from me, "sorry to make you wait."

You better be sorry, I'm starving over here!

"It's fine Mrs. Whitney." I smiled at her, "what's going on? It's 7:30am, this must be important."

This BETTER be important…I skipped breakfast!

"Look Camila, I don't know how to tell you this and to be honest with you, I'm not really even sure how it happened, you're short credits."

HUH? SHORT CREDITS?

"Excuse me? Short credits? That's impossible!" I stood up wide-eyed!

I can't be short credits! I HAVE to graduate!

"Like I said Camila, I don't know how this happened, it slipped through the cracks." She said gesturing for me to take my seat.

"Mrs. Whitney, I NEED to graduate, my parents will KILLLLLL me if I do-" my voice desperate as it was cut off.

"Camila, I'm not saying you can't graduate." She said shuffling through a manila folder.

WHAT? Then why the heck would you let me act a fool!

"Oh gosh, thank goodness, well what do I have to do?" I breathe a sigh of relief, "I'll do anything."

"You need to pick up an extra class and I took a look at your schedule and added the only class available that you haven't taken yet." She said placing my revised schedule in front of me, "here you go." She pushed it towards me.

An EXTRA class, you HAVE got to be kidding ME! BREATHE CAMILA, BREATHE.

I grabbed my schedule, my brown orbs reading over my added class…

MODERN ART.

Modern Art? I've never even heard of that class.

"Modern Art?" I looked at Mrs. Whitney confused.

"Yes, Modern Art, in the 300 building in the back, it's new this year."

Ms. Jauregui…Ms. Jauregui never heard of this teacher before.

"With Ms. Jauregui?" I'm still a bit confused, "I practically know every teacher in this school, never heard of a Ms. Jauregui."

"Ms. Jauregui is a student teacher, she's new and only teaches this class, she's great, you'll love her." She smiled nodding up and down.

DOUBT IT, but alright.

~Oohhh, when I'm around you I'm predictable

Cause I believe in loving you at first sight

I know it's crazy but I'm hoping to..

To take a hold of you

Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)

To say you're the only one breaking me down like this

You're the only one I would take a shot on

The bell had finally rung for 6th period so I grabbed my book bag and took off faster than a bullet. I couldn't wait to see the girls; I headed for our usual spot under the big tree near the track.

"Hey ladies," I said smiling from ear to ear at the sight of my best friends, Dinah, Ally and Normani.

"Hey Mila," they said in unison as they all gave me a hug.

"I can't stay long guys," I pouted.

"Gosh, I can't believe you have to take an extra class, that is just crap!" Dinah said, shaking her head.

"Seriously, how does shit like that even happen?" Normani said crossing her arms.

"I don't know," which was the truth, "it's fine, one semester and I'll be back on track."

"So what does that mean for the days we have practice Mila," Ally asked, leaning against the tree.

CRAP, that's right!

"I'll just be a little late to practice, probably thirty minutes, shouldn't be any longer." I said to them assuredly.

"Mila," Dinah nodded her head, gesturing behind me.

I turned around and was bombarded with a sloppy kiss.

"mmmhhhmmm," he moaned into my lips, I was taken by surprise and it wasn't the good kind. "I missed you today babbbyyy."

Gosh, he REALLY needs to get better at that.

"Hey Austin, yeah missed ya too." I said with a toothless smile.

I liked Austin, I really did. Besides, what's not to like, he's captain of the baseball team, he's good looking and he worships the ground I walk on. We belong together, you know head cheerleader, captain of whatever team…just like the movies or EVERY television show out there, yup we belonged together, at least in high school.

"So," he said grabbing my hand, "can I give you a ride home baby?"

BABY…he really likes calling me that, must be a territorial thing.

"I have 7th period now remember, with the whole not having enough credits thing?" I said trying to jog his memory.

I glanced at my watch-CRAP!

"SHIT! I'm late I gotta go!" I picked up my book bag, gave him a peck on his cheek and bolted back towards the classrooms, "bye girls!"

~Oh you're everything I'm wanting

Come to think of it, I'm aching

On account of my transgression..

Will you welcome this confession?

I was huffing and puffing…why did the 300 building HAVE to be ALL the way on the other end of the school? GEEZ! I think I might be out of shape!

I slowly opened the door, hoping no one, especially the teacher, would notice me walking in late. Good thing the class was held in the 300 building, it was more of a small auditorium. I slipped into a seat in the back and took out my notebook. I began to scribble some random things down when my brown orbs shot up at the husky voice echoing throughout the auditorium.

"'I know nothing with any certainty..." My eyes narrowed as her raspy voice let out the words, almost as if having tunnel vision, I couldn't help it, they had a mind of their own.

My full attention held in place by the porcelain skin brunette pacing back and forth on the stage, her eyes making it's way around to every student. She looked like my age…not much older I'm sure. She's pretty…NO, beautiful, yeah she's beautiful. Girls can compliment other girls and to simply say 'pretty' wouldn't do her any justice. She definitely had style, I mean for a teacher, probably because she's young. She wore a maroon jacket, black t-shirt, blue jeans, sneakers and a cream colored beanie…very nice Ms. Jauregui, very nice.

"Can anyone finish that quote by a CERTAIN famous painter?" I watched her continue to walk back and forth, no hands raised, "oh come on!" she flashed a contagious half smile, causing my lips to pull to my eyes, "anyone?" she placed a hand on her hip, "I'll give you a coooookiiiieee."

Ooo COOKIE! Is she joking? I better get a cookie! She's probably joking.

I slowly raised my hand.

"Yes! A hand!" I watched her exclaim, "girl with the bow, go for it, stand up so we can all hear you."

She's enthusiastic…that's cute.

I stood up in front of my seat, "I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream."

I watched her smile from ear to ear, "very nice…do you have a name? Or I can call you girl with the bow the entire semester," the class let out a laugh, "up to you," she continued to smile as she crossed her arms.

Oh she's got jokes.

"Camila Cabello." I said with a smile, " and it was Van Gogh."

"Very nice Camila," her eyes were piercing, "I guess I can let you being late slide then," she let out with a smile.

Am I STILL staring at her? Sit down!

"See class, art nowadays can be anything and everything," she walked around, "for example, a term of endearment could be art."

"Like the word BABY!" a gleeful girl clasped her hands.

EWWW…not BABY, that's such a simple word.

Our teacher let out a giggle, almost childlike as she sat on the stage, her legs dangling, "Not exactly Rebecca," she said looking at the girl, "not the word 'BABY' anyways, to me it's too generic, not worthy of using on someone who holds your heart. If you're going to describe someone you love," I watched her hands roll into fists, holding it against her heart, "use the word, BEAUTIFUL or MY LOVE…now that's art."

Her gaze made it's way to me, the left side of her lips pulling to her eyes before popping back up on stage, walking around again.

Yeah, I think I'm going to like this class.
