~BEEP-BEEP-BEEP~
Lauren's P.O.V.
6AM. I yawned and wiped the sleep from my eyes before hitting my alarm clock to make it stop from beeping. Thursday. FINALLY! This week has been ridiculously long. It's been one of those weeks where you're looking forward to the end of the week, so the universe decides to conspire against you and makes the time go by SOOOOO slow. I got up from my bed, stretching my arms, ahhhh, stretching in the morning always feels so good. I walked to my closet, my eyes scanning my clothes trying to pick out what to wear today; normally I'm not at the high school all day, but today I had to catch up on paperwork and possibly seeing Camila for more than a period…well, that I definitely didn't mind, not one bit. Those chocolate brown eyes are probably the only reason I've been able to get through this week…beautiful.
***Flashback***
I had been teaching Modern Art for a week now at Newport High School and I really enjoyed it; I'm even thinking about making it a fulltime job after I'm done with my studies.
"Alright everyone, settle down, I know how rambunctious you guys get over art." I said aloud sarcastically glancing around the auditorium for a new face.
Mrs. Whitney, one of the counselors at this school, had asked if I would be able to add a student even though we were a week into the semester...SUUUUURRREEE, why not!
I was speaking to the class, making sure everyone could hear me clearly when I caught the door open from the corner of my eye…first day in a new class and you're LATE, not going to fly in my class…nope; I'll have to address the issue after class.
Okay, tomorrow's lesson is on Van Gogh, it's time for THE quote, I'm not sure why I do this with every class I teach or every conversation I have since no one can ever finish it, oh well…maybe it's because it's one of my all time FAVORITE quotes by one of my all time FAVORITE painters, "'I know nothing with any certainty...'" I scanned the room halting at a bow…a bow, that's cute, gotta be confident to pull off a bow, that's for sure, "Can anyone finish that quote by a CERTAIN famous painter?" I walked back and forth, hoping someone would know…who am I kidding? NO ONE ever knows! "oh come on!" I blurted with a half smile on my face…REALLY NO ONE? "Anyone?" well this is just sad, I placed my hand on my hip, "I'll give you a coooookiiiieee."
I looked around the room, OOOO! Is that a hand raised! I think it is! It's the new girl with the bow…lets see what you got.
"Yes! A hand!" how could I NOT be enthusiastic? Someone's ACTUALLY going to try, my eyes landing at the younger brunette in the back, I don't know why, but I'm really rooting for her, I hope she gets it, "girl with the bow, go for it, stand up so we can all hear you."
I watched her stand in front of her seat, "I know nothing with any certainty," my eyes analyzed the brunette in the distance-WOW-since when do high school girls look like THAT…geez. It's MURDER. She's gorgeous.
"But the sight of the stars makes me dream." That's right, she knew it, she knew the quote and I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear.
SHE KNEW IT.
My eyes were drawn to the brunette in the distance, "very nice…do you have a name? Or I can call you girl with the bow the entire semester," the class let out a laugh, "up to you," I slowly crossed my arms and I knew my smile was still plastered across my face.
I watched her lips slowly pull to her eyes, "Camila Cabello." she said with a smile, "and it was Van Gogh."
VAN GOGH…and she knows who said it, this girl is in HIGH SCHOOL? Gorgeous AND smart, good thing she's sitting in the back! "Very nice Camila," why can't I see anything else but her eyes, maybe I'll let the whole BEING LATE slide just this once, yeah, "I guess I can let you being late slide then," I'm pretty sure I'm still smiling and I'm pretty sure she's STILL staring at me.
***End of Flashback***
I arrived at the high school after the first period bell had rung so the halls were empty except for one or maybe two students, you know, the occasional late ones. I continued to walk and all my eyes could see were posters, posters of Camila and Austin everywhere…YUCK. I kept walking and they starting to REALLY get on my nerves! I walked up to a poster, looking at it with my eyes, they look like the poster children for the perfect nominees….KING & QUEEN, head cheerleader & captain of the baseball team…sheesh. The next thing I knew I grabbed the top corner of a poster and yanked it from the wall-WOOPS! Sorry NOT sorry! I walked a couple of steps and stuffed it in the trashcan, if I could, I would take ALLLLL of them off the wall. WHAT? Yeah, I'm a teacher…student teacher, but I'm still only twenty and I'm ONLY human!
"Uhhh, Ms. Jauregui…"
SHIT! I was hoping no one would see me do that…SHIT!
I slowly turned around, "Dinah…" oh thank goodness, still embarrassing, but thank goodness.
"…so, I take it you didn't like that particular pose," she said holding back her laughter, completely amused.
"Well," I tapped my chin with my finger trying to think of an excuse or reason, FUCK IT. "I'm not even sorry about it." I said bluntly causing her to laugh hysterically."
"OHHH MAAAHH GAHHH Ms. Jauregui, you're kinda awesome, my best friend picked a keeper," she winked as she began to walk down the hall, past me.
"Dinah," she paused, "do you think we could, ya know, maybe keep THIS," I glanced at the trashcan with the stuffed poster in it, "between us."
She gave me a head nod, "sure thing teach!"
I was standing at the podium grading some papers. I looked around the empty auditorium before glancing at the clock, class would be starting soon-GOOD-I haven't seen Camz all day…I really miss looking into her beautiful brown eyes, oh and you know, the rest of her doesn't hurt either. My mind was wandering before it was interrupted by two arms slowly making its way around my waist from behind me.
I placed the papers down and slowly turned around as I was met with a pair of shimmering brown eyes, her lips pulled to a smirk, "ahh, so you're past daring, you're TRYING to get us in trouble," I said teasingly as I wrapped my arms around her slim waist, "instead of waiting until after class, you just do THIS before, knowing students are about to walk in." She had an amused look on her face, "WHAAATT?"
"I heard from a little birdie that you REALLLLYYY like my spring dance nominees posters."
A little birdie huh-DINAH!
I pouted, pressing my lips together, making the best baby face I could as I fluttered my lashes.
"Awww," she cupped my face, "you are just too adorable, STOP IT, I seriously can't handle your face right now." She gave me a quick peck on my lips, "it's okay, that you were jealous…sexy."
"I wasn't jealous!" my response instantaneous as her eyes narrowed at me, chocolate orbs flickering with the light above.
Her brown eyes were so mesmerizing I found myself leaning in, placing my eager lips on soft, full ones. Our lips slowly parted, still slightly lingering on one another, until fully parting and believe me I didn't want to, my green eyes locked with her brown ones. I don't know what it is about her but I lose all my senses when it comes to her, it's been awhile since I've had this feeling, I like it. Our gazes remained locked on one another as she pressed her lips together, poking her lips out. I quickly pulled her body in closer; placing my lips on hers once again…I couldn't help it.
She's killing me…the way she looks at me with her brown eyes, her lips…KILLING ME!
"Now who's the daring one?" she perked an eyebrow, her lips poking out.
"Well when you do things like that," my head gestured towards her lips, "it's hard to control myself."
"Well you should see YOU from behind," she grabbed my ass-DID SHE JUST GRAB MY ASS? Yup, there she goes again, "I CAN'T control myself."
How do I even respond to that? I couldn't…I just smiled, "you need to take your seat," I breathed into her lips.
"What are you doing after class? We don't have practice today." She said with her puppy dog brown eyes staring at me.
"I um…I'm meeting up with a friend."
"A friend?" her face was curious.
I smiled and nodded, "yes."
"Okay." She made a sad face, prompting me to cup her cheek.
"Tomorrow, I'm all yours."
Her lips pulled to her eyes, "okay."
I sat at the restaurant, waiting for her to arrive. She was suppose to be here half an hour ago…typical. I took a sip of my ice tea when I looked up; it's about damn time!
"Hey Laur," she leaned in and hugged me, "sorry I'm late." She took the seat across from me.
"You know Demi, I don't know why I'm surprised whenever you show up late," I rolled my eyes at her, "I've known you since forever and now that I think about it, you're never on time."
She chuckled, "good thing we're best friends, there's like a rule where you can never be mad at me for being late," she nodded wide-eyed, "pretty sure it's in a rule book somewhere."
I laughed at her, "yeah I'm sure."
"So," she took a sip of her water, "what's going on with you," her eyes narrowed, almost knowing something was up, it's a best friend thing, "tell me!"
"There' someone." I nodded, a smile creeping on my face.
"I knew it! IS SHE HOT?" she wiggled her eyebrows flashing me a smirk.
Leave it to my best friend to ask the IMPORTANT questions.
"'IS SHE HOT?' REALLY?" I tilted my head, perking an eyebrow, "Come on, it's me." I said cockily…we're NOT really shallow, it's just the way we banter…it's a best friend thing.
"So how'd you meet her?"
"Well," I took a drink, "don't judge me." I said pointing at her.
Her eyes narrowed, "Lauren…it's me, this is a judgment free zone."
"She's my student."
"YOUR STUDENT!"
I rolled my eyes at her, "seriously, wanna say it any louder? I think the guy on the other side of the street didn't hear you."
"I'm sorry," she whispered, "you're student? How old is she?"
"She's turning eighteen next week."
"Ahh, an ALMOST legal student, I'm not sure if I want to smack you or give you a high five," She winked at me, wiggling her eyebrows, "so…IS SHE HOT?"
SHE WOUUULLDDD!
I chuckled slightly, "actually, she's beautiful." A heartfelt smile crept on my face.
I watched Demi lean back, "oh my gosh, you like LIKE this girl."
I nodded, eyes wide, "I'm afraid so." I couldn't contain my smile.
She nodded along as she looked at me, "wow, I mean this is great Laur, you haven't been into anyone since…" she stopped, catching herself, giving me a sympathetic look.
"It's fine," I waved her off, "but yeah, it's been awhile." I flashed her a toothless smile.
"Lauren," she leaned on the table, "that's actually one of the reasons why I wanted to meet up with you…" her tone a bit more serious, "she's back."
SHE'S BACK.
