A Drive in the Forest

Chapter Summary: Draco, Flynn, John and Sherlock learn of the modifications to the RV and Luna gets to drive. Will they all survive?

"Why are we taking the long way around to get to Seattle, Luna?" Draco half whined from his crouch between the two front seats. It seemed an unnecessary precaution to him. They could just drive straight to where they were going and get this part over with. He didn't like the woods. They were dark and well, scary.

Luna gave him a dreamy look. "We're avoiding the NotWolves," she told him simply. "They live over that way and we just avoided a bloodbath between the Veggie Vamps and the Not Veggie Vamps so I'd rather stay away from the NotWolves. They can't stand either kind of vampire and have a very good sense of smell. Besides, our quarry won't be in Seattle until tomorrow night. So we can look at the scenery and enjoy the drive then worry about our quest."

"It'll take hours to get back to Seattle this way, cousin. It's late and we're all tired." Draco's voice was rising into a whine again. He'd had fun torturing those vampires and but he was tired now and he wasn't going to sleep on the seats of the RV, even if they did pull out to form beds.

Luna rolled her eyes and Harry started to frown, becoming a bit irritated with Draco's spoiled whining. "There are beds in the back, Dray," John pointed out. "And three bedrooms though I don't know how that is…"

"Magic," Harry informed him with a smirk. "There's a balcony and a hot tub too. They can't be seen from outside. And I don't know how weird it will be to be out on the balcony while we're moving." It might be interesting though. Sitting in a hot tub as they sped along the highway. He'd have to try it.

Sherlock jumped up from the passenger's seat, hopped over Draco and hurried towards the doors to the back. "Where's the stairs?" He asked over his shoulder. "Never mind. I'll find them. Come John, we have things to explore." He'd known this trip was going to be an experience and he was glad to be proved right.

John shrugged at the others and followed his friend. Draco watched them go for a moment and then bolted up and sped towards the back of the RV after them. "Awwww! I want to go see too," Flynn complained. Why had he decided to drive? It wasn't like any of the others couldn't do it. It just wasn't fair.

"So pull over and go see," Harry said exasperated at all the complaining. "Luna or I can drive." Really, he thought to himself, it was that hard of solution to figure out and Flynn was supposed to be a genius.

Flynn grinned happily and pulled over to the side of the road. He jumped up from the driver's chair and raced to the back of the RV in search of the stairs. Luna gave Harry a sly smile and plopped down in Flynn's vacated seat. "You're such a good husband," she praised him. "And you might want to sit down and buckle up."

Harry did as instructed, with a shit-eating grin on his face. This was going to be fun. "Ready," he informed her as he settled in the chair.

"Are you going to warn them?" She asked him as she started the engine. She didn't sound as though she cared one way or the other if he did.

Harry shot her a wicked grin. "Warn them of what, Lunalove? That the Knight Bus company refused to hire you because your driving was too dangerous?" He shook his head. "Nope. I have complete faith in you. Besides…I wouldn't want to ruin your fun."

Luna reached over and took his hand. She brought it to her lips with a delighted smile and kissed his fingers. "You are the best husband a witch could ever ask for, Harrymine." She let his hand go and turned back to the road. Grinning in a devilish way she put the RV in gear and stepped on the gas.

Police along the coast of Washington State were called many times that night with reports of terrified screaming. It was concluded after a thorough investigation that teenagers were playing a prank and had recorded the screams from at least four different horror movies and then had sped down the highway playing the recorded screams at full volume. Unfortunately, no trace was ever found of the perpetrators.

"I hate you," Draco moaned as he shakily made his way back to the front of the RV. "I really, really hate you." He collapsed on the bench and glared at the back of Luna's seat.

"I second that notion," Flynn informed them and flopped down next to him. "I have never been so terrified in my entire life. I nearly fell off of the balcony."

"It wasn't that bad," Sherlock claimed even though his already pale complexion had whitened drastically and his hands trembled just a little. He carefully sat in the seat behind Harry and swallowed hard.

"Do it again," John said excitedly as he darted to stand between Harry and Luna's chairs. "That was epic! Really! I haven't had that much fun since Sherlock and I chased a cabbie over the rooftops of London. That was great!"

Harry smiled up at him and shook his head regretfully. "Maybe tomorrow," he promised as Luna pulled off onto a small dirt road. "We need to get some shut eye."

"But…uh…" Flynn cleared his throat. "There's only three bedrooms," he pointed out a bit squeakily.

Draco shrugged philosophically. "We'll share," he eyed Luna and Harry. "Just not with either of them. Luna wanders at night if Pothead isn't right next to her."

Harry wrapped his arms around Luna and pulled her into his lap with a grin at Draco. "She only wanders to wherever I am, Dray."

Sherlock waved them off and grabbed John's arm. "I get John," he announced and gave the others a glare that dared them to object.

Flynn sighed heavily and nodded. "Fine." He stood up and stretched. "I'm going to bed. Night all." He made it halfway down the corridor and then turned to look hard at Harry. "Do not wake me up if she drives again. I'd prefer to die in my sleep thank you."

Luna blew a raspberry at him. "I didn't crash and you haven't seen Harrymine's driving yet. Where do you think I learned."

"God save us," Flynn muttered and disappeared into one of the rooms.
